I have trouble with my audio driver on my lenovo laptop. After I updated BIOS to version 1.21, my sound stopped working. I tried to reinstall audio driver, but when I reboot my computer, sound is not working again.
I read about flashing BIOS back, but I dont know where to download old version.
I own an Ideapad Z-500 notebook with Win 8.1 pro.
My battery is at locked at 59% of charge and even if i connect the power plug it doesn't charge any more.
I had the same problem a few months ago and I run run the "Battery Firmware Update" i found here: [URL] ....
It worked for then, but now I have the same problem once again and firmware update doesnt work anymore because my firmware is already up to date.

I have an Ideapad Z500 with an W8.1 installed on it. I updated the bios to the last version but after that I can not control the luminosity level anymore. When I try to do it pressing the Hotkey it trurns to the lowest level of luminosity and I can only fix it by pressing the hotfix key when the laptop starts. I can not return to the old bios version. What shall I do?

Recently my bluetooth mouse has stopped working after a few minutes of use. If I switch the mouse off and then on again it works again. I assumed that it was a problem with the mouse so I purchased a new one.
Guess what. The same problem.
Now with two blutooth mice displaying the same problem I am guessing that the trouble lies within the laptop, but what to do to identify whats going wrong.
Before the end of 2013 I bought an Ideapad U530 Touch for school and it's been working fine up until a few days ago when the backlight for the left most CTRL key stopped working and shut off completely. Every other key on the board is fine, except for this one. Is there any easy to fix to this problem, or do I need to send the entire computer back?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI bought the Lenovo Ideapad Z500 and I'm trying to boot from a USB drive in order to install Windows on it. When I start the boot menu I only see the hard-drive, the DVD and the network. I tried to set both UEFI mode and Legacy mode in BIOS but the USB stick does not appear in the menu when I boot. I put the image of windows with Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool which formats the stick in NTFS mode.
I have the latest BIOS v1.21 and I tried with 2 different USB sticks: one 16GB USB 2.0 Corsair and with a 32GB USB 3.0 ADATA both on USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports on the notebook. I really haven't seen anything like this in my entire career.
I even downloaded the file efiootBOOTX64.efi and replaced the one that Windows come with on the specified folder on the USB stick ....
Why is so difficult to choose the USB boot drive on the newer notebooks? How can I boot from USB?
All of a sudden, my Lenovo Ideapad P500 (running Win 8) is having sound issues. The sound will stay on for 5-10 minutes when I start it up or put it to sleep and then wake it up. After that, the sound will just quit working? FYI, the Windows 8 updates that were part of the Microsoft monthly security fixes were installed last week and the problem started today?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a new z500 that I've downgraded to Windows 7 64bit. For the most part I have everything working. I accidentally hit the brightness + (yes, +) and it instantly dimmed the screen to where it is barely viewable. It seems that hitting that one key decreased the brightness to the minimum amount. I've rebooted, looked for a setting in the BIOS, hit the Brightness +/- and can't increase the brightness. It is interesting because the other hot keys work correctly. I've even upped the brightness in the Control Panel, but nothing seems to work. The screen is extremely dim whenever the machine is powered on (including the BIOS), not just in Windows. I tried a lot of intel chipset drivers, the available Intel HD 4000 drivers in Win8 and win7 too, but nothing working. How to up the brightness?

My z500 cannot boot up without power cable plugged in. Usually,a few seconds after I saw the lenovo logo,the system will suddenly shut down just like the battery was removed.however,if I connect powercable to the laptop and power on,everything is fine,I can enter windows 8,or ubuntu,after I enter OS,I can disconnect the power cable without any problems.the battery is healthy and can last for more than 2 hours.
So far I tried the following methods:
1.update BIOS
2.update battery firmware
3.reset BIOS
none of them worked for me....

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an ideapad z500 which I'm happy for, but it annoys me that when 'm at my college I can't properly connect to the wi-fi the school has. When I connect, I'm on for usually about half an hour, but then I get the "limited connection" yellow triangle and I have to deactivate the networkcard before I can get a normal connection.
Other times I simply just can't connect, it tries but it fails. When it does, I have to reboot the computer before it succeeds, and that's no good when you are working on a project. At home i have no problems, it works nicely.
Also, how to enable the WiDi on the z500.

I open this post to report a brightness problem on Lenovo Z500 Ideapad. Yesterday I've upgraded to OS Windows 8.1 and when I adjusted the screen brightness it goes off, and brightness adjust function doesn't works. I've solved my problem reinstalling the Intel video drivers, downloaded from Lenovo Driver Support.
It seems that Windows 8.1 upgrade disables video drivers.
Purchased from Amazon 2 months ago and worked perfectly without a hitch until a few days ago when I got on the receiving end of the win8 equivalent of the BSOD with the . From them on I ended up with slow boots random pauses etc. I opted to refresh the PC without affecting any files but toward the end of the reinstall the BSOD appears and now all I had was a black background with only a white cursor.
Left that for over a hour, nothing happened so held down the power button to force shutdown. Found that Z500 no longer boots into win8 so eventually decided to do a clean reinstall with the onekeyrecovery via NOVO button. This should have been the end of all the problem I was having but unbelievably the problem is still there.
Research what I could about this and found that the slow boot is caused by hard disk constantly being thrashed about by a system file ntoskrnl.exe. I tried updating the wifi driver and it appeared to have done the trick until the next day when I booted up the system again. It appear that the constant hd activity goes away after a few hours of leaving the PC on.
Anyway I have drawn a blank as to what's going on especially as everything was working perfectly until up to that point with no signs of system conflict.
The Conexant 20672 SmartAudio HD (driver 8.32.43.0) stopped working after I updated to Windows 8.1.
Everything looks ok, no error message when I start Windows and the device manager says "This device is working properly.".
But when I try to play a file on Zune or VLC, I hear no sound. When I try with Music metro app, an error says:
"Can't play. Make sure your computer's sound and video cards are working and have the latest drivers, then try again.
0xc00d11d1 (0x8007007e"
I tried the troubleshooter, but it says it couldn't identify the problem.
Anybody had the same issue?
Ever since I got the laptop over a year ago, the audio was never working properly for me. Every time a sound was played there would be a staticky sound played with the audio.
The same thing happens when I use headphones with it. The laptop is also out of warranty so I don't know what to do.
when i press one key recovery an app opens wich have two option one of them back up and the othere is recovery when i press backup i see an error saying current system cannot support backup and when i press recovery shows me a notice to reboot in order to start recovery but when i press yes i see an error saying the program cannot find the service partition i am using win8 64

Windows 8.1.I've had this message saying "display driver stopped responding and has recovered" while on startup on my notification area. It's been quite a some time I have seen this messsage during startups. And, my laptop seems more slow during startup. I've tried "sfc/scannow" but the system seems fine. I did Disk cleanup and optimization regularly. No third-party software installed.
My laptop heats up. Its working fine not too hot during Morning and Evening, but heats up high during day time. I'm not using laptop cooler now, but I've ordered one. My laptop is getting old.

View 9 Replies View RelatedFor about week I have problems with sound device, so that no sound is played. When I start my notebook it works few minutes, then it stops and when I wanna to test it it gives me error message:
"The device is being used by another application. Please close any devices that are playing audio to this device and then try again.", even when I have no programs running.
I tried all solutions that I found. Disable device, enable divace, restart Windows audio service, Troubleshooter. One think that work (sometimes) is to restart my notebook. But constantly restarting isn't quite the solution I'm satisfied with.
My U330P is running Windows 7 with the latest drivers for both the Intel HD video module and the Realtek audio chip. I would like to connect my machine to a TV via HDMI and have it both act both as the display as well as the audio playback device (i.e. TV speakers should blare, not the ones in my Ideapad).
The thing is, I don't have said TV yet and if what I want to do is not possible, I will not bother buying it. I already did look around in Control Panel -> Sound -> Playback in order to find out whether there's an option to set the HDMI port as a playback device but found nothing. I also have the playback devices menu display disconnected and deactivated devices, but the only thing showing is the built-in stereo speakers. The listings in my device manager don't suggest something like a "digital sound whatnot" either.
So in general whether the audio signal can be rerouted to the HDMI output connector on a U330P.
I cannot get any audio from my IdeaPad. When I randomly select a mp3 and try to play it with Windows Media Player, I immediately get a mesage that the sound device can't be found or is busy (or something to that effect). I also don't hear sound from internet videos or system sounds such as the start up song. The sound is not muted and volume is at 100%.
I have uninstalled the device drivers for both the Connexant audio and microphone, reloaded them, and rebooted. Same problem.
My question, of course, is: restoring sound from my computer short of a system reset?
X220 tablet (about 2.5 yrs old, out of warranty) was working completely fine last night; this morning, no sound is coming from the laptop, either through speakers or through headphones (audio jack). I am, however, able to get sound through a bluetooth-connected speaker.
I had hoped this was a software issue. Tried uninstalling/installing all sound devices, updating BIOS, updating drivers, system restore to previous date, rebooting a million times, etc. No joy.
When I run the sound troubleshooter, it says that no speaker, headset, or headphone appears to be plugged in. The sound icon has a little red circle/white X next to it. When I try to plug in headphones, nothing happens -- does not seem to detect the event. When I press the mute and volume buttons on the tablet, no response.
Also, under Device Manager -> Sound, video and game controllers, it lists only "Bluetooth Hands-free Audio" and "Intel Display Audio". I don't think either of these is the normal X220 audio driver, is it? What else should be there? I downloaded the Conexant Audio Software from Lenovo's site (this is what came up when I searched for audio drivers for the X220 tablet), and tried to install it, but halfway through, it said the install failed because it couldn't locate the device for the driver.
This sounds like it's a hardware problem -- any way to verify? Also, which piece of hardware exactly? Is it the sound card (that's presumably integrated into the motherboard --> no easy fix)? I'm guessing it's not the speakers themselves since the headphone jack is also affected, but what is my best line of testing at this point to confirm that?
I cannot find something like that in the BIOS. But actually the CPU (AMD APU Kabini, A4-5000) supports virtualization. So did I miss this option or BIOS does not contain it?

Then I installed Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 x64, and downloaded all Windows 7 drivers from the lenovo support website.
But the left two USB 3 ports don't detect at all. They are not working.
