Out of the box with Windows 8.1 the volume increases/decreases with 2%. Now that I have installed Windows 7, it increases/decreases with 10%. Can I adjust this percentage as it seems it's just a software setting?

On Screen Display problem: when I press volume up/down Button the volume decreases completely. To make louder or dim the volume I have to hold the buttons. All the other hotkeys functions work . why? what I have to do?
View 6 Replies View RelatedEven cranked all the way up, the sound on the x220 seems somewhere around half as loud as the x120e and even my wife's iPad blows it away. It's a litle embarrassing.
I think it's the sound card/driver not the speakers as even with headphones plugged in it is very very soft at 100% volume.

I couldn't find any info on this and seem to have figured this out. On the Dell I got (Studio 1735 / Windows Vista Home Premium), the volume dialogue (the volume slider that appears when you press the up/down volume media touch buttons) showed up in some strange place in the upper left corner. I wanted it in the lower right corner.
So, follow the following steps:
1. Find the Quickset Icon in the icon tray. Right-click it and "Exit".
2. Fire up regedit (Start > Run > regedit).
3. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREDell Computer CorporationQuickSet.
4. Backing up is strongly recommended as when performing any operations with the registry. At least back up the part you are changing. To backup, just rightclick the Quickset node and do "Export" to a file.
5. Find VolumeDlgX and VolumeDlgY keys. These hold the x&y position of the volume dialogue. Change them to whatever you want (note that by default the values are in HEX, but you can change them to decimal when setting them). I used the position of BrightnessDlgX/BrightnessDlgY (the Brightness dialogue which did appear where I wanted it) as reference).
6. Reboot the computer.
Note that if you start Quickset without rebooting, it appears to overwrite the registry values with the ones that were there before the change.
I can't adjust or change my brightness with the hotkey (F11 and F12) or even with the slider in settings. option brightness of my laptop doesn"t change it is stationary.

My aim is to configure my SSD as a cache drive and as I read - without changing mode into RAID, it wouldn't work.
Maybe there is a possibility to set up SSD as cache in AHCI mode?
For some reason I can't change my screen brightness anymore. I've already tried a HD 4000 driver rollback to version 9.17.10.3223 and I also disabled "adaptive screen brightness" at the power management. For some reason I can change the brightness by using the "microsoft basic display adapter" driver instead of the HD 4000 but that isn't a real solution.

I am trying to use the Lenovo Diagnostics Bootable USB. I have to get my BIOS to boot from the USB before my SSD.
In the BIOS, the Startup > Boot menu already looks like the USB is listed first. But when I do a hard boot, Windows still boots from my SSD.
Here is the startup order listed in the BIOS:
1: USB FDD:
2: ATAPI CD0: HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T50N-(TS)
3: USB CD:
4: ATA HDD0: SAMSUNG MMCQE28G8MUP-OVA-(S1)

See, the USB is listed first.
Why doesn't my system boot to the USB? What do those symbols in the boot order mean? For example, why are there three USBs?
But is it possible to upgrade my graphics card from GT 755m to GTX 780m ? Or is it soldered or something ?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just flashed BIOS on my thinkpad yoga 20CD00B1US. I got the lates BIOS 1.18/1,09 and sice this flash, I cannot make any changes in BIOS. I can list in BIOS but cannot highlite and change any setting expect quick boot Enabled/Disabled
My even manager is reporting me this warrining: : The embedded controller (EC) returned data when none was requested. The BIOS might be trying to access the EC without synchronizing with the operating system. This data will be ignored. No further action is necessary; however, you should check with your computer manufacturer for an upgraded BIOS.
I do have set up supervisor password for BIOS, password on power on. When going in BIOS, I am not asked to put password in, which could be the issue.
With my Lenovo X1 Carbon preinstalled image I noticed strange behaviour of my right click popups from the desktop and some dropdowns from menus. They are aligned to the left, not the right.
I.e. I rightclick on the dektop, my cursor is is on the top right corner, not the top left corner.
I find this very annoying as every app that doesn't use the windows setting does it th other way around. Also, subitems open to the left. Is there a way to return this to normal. I can't seem find the "switch".

These laptops came with Windows 7 and we used the Lenovo media to install Windows 8. The ability to change the password was present right after the Windows 8 install but when we upgrade to Windows 8.1 from the Microsoft store we can no longer change the password.

I can't play something for a few people gathered around my laptop and expect them to hear. I have used other laptops where the volume can be raised to an obnoxious level which is not he case here.
The volume control works. The driver is Conexant 20671 Smart Audio HD and Windows says that it is current. The OS is Win7 Pro.
I have an R61 and the green volume indicator bar has disappeared. I have googled for a solution but so far, nothing has worked.

This is an across-the-board problem. What I mean by that is, this problem persists regardless of the application, which I happen to be using. For instance, I use Media Player Classic: Home Cinema to watch movies. If the volume is at 0%, as I begin adjusting it upward, the volume level rises. However, as I reach about 70%, the volume stops increasing. There are audio adjustments w/in the application to boost the volume, but they serve to provide minimal effects. Overall, the volume is incredibly low. If you're sitting more than a few feet away from the laptop, it is inaudible.

First off my volume indicator was missing, when I hit the volume buttons nothing showed up on screen. I realized I needed to install the energy mangement driver and did so. The issue is that I don't care for the appearance of the volume meter. It has yellowish green buttons and the volume increases and decreases by 5 with one press of the volume buttons. The volume meter that I had previously was a white white bar that increased and decreased by 1 each time I hit a volume button. I liked this design a lot better. I'm trying to figure out what version of the energy management driver I had previously that would allow my volume and brightness indicators to be the white bar instead of they yellowish green buttons. My machine type is 2359 and model is CTO with Windows 7 64 bit.

I have tried everything including the tweaks in Smart audio and removing audio limiter but still the volume is very low. On my dell 1525, I never go past 40% volume on my headphones but on T51o, I am using 90-100% volume to watch videos on live streaming websites.
Is there any solution to boost the volume on T510? My system is with windows 7 ultimate (64-bit) and audio device is Conexant 20585.
