Lenovo Y510p P/Y/Z Series :: Screen Tearing When HDMI Plugged
Feb 1, 2014So I use an HDMI setup to connect my laptop to my surround sound, which is also connected to my television. I only use the hdmi for the audio, but no matter what I do, I get this wierd horizontal tearing on my laptop monitor whenever I use it.

Oct 31, 2013I was just wondering what the average time was for a totally dead y510p to charge while using it for some light browsing on the internet. It seems to charge really slow especially after it reaches about 80 percent or so. I was curious to see what other owners have had in terms of charge time. I seem to have narrowed it down to about 5 percent every 10 minutes while my cousins HP charges way faster. Not too upset about it but a bit curious. For example as I am typing this out it's been at 99% for the past 20 minutes or so, and HW monitor shows it charging really slowly but when its at like 50 percent it charges at a decent rate maybe about 10 mwh every 5 seconds or so.

Dec 17, 2012Have a brand new X1 Carbon running windows 7. It originally came with Windows 8 but had to downgrade to run a necessary work application (which could be the problem). My battery never exceeds 50% even when plugged in for extended periods. Also, I am not seeing any of the "Rapid Charge" that was promoted.

Aug 16, 2013I bought my lenovo z400 ideapad beginning of April this year and just about two days ago it just turned off and though I plugged it in later it started saying 'plugged in but not charging'. What do you think is the problem?
Furthermore I lost the receipt ( the sales receipt) but there is still the model/series no. , is the warranty still on?

Feb 12, 2015I installed windows 8.1 pro with WMC on my lenovo z510 laptop and installed energy management driver from laptop's drivers dvd. After I installed LEM (lenovo energy management) i started the gauge reset process for my laptop.
After some hours i saw nothing is happening so i made a mistake and cancelled gauge reset in the management software and after that when i restarted my laptop my battery icon says PLUGGED IN CHARGING but it just remians on 0% !!!!!
Problem solved by for example uninstall and reinstalling MICROSOFT ACPI. but notice that i reinstalled my windows 8.1 ! i changed in to windows 7 ! again changed it to windows 8.1 !!!
I updated the energy management software ! nothing happened !
Then try to restart to BIOS menu and from there restore BIOS defaults ! but i couldn't enter BIOS from any ways ! from pressing F1 ! from the way based on windows 8.1 and UEFI frimware settings (somthing like that) ! from none of them i could enter the BIOS!
So now my battery is still facing the problem !you know that it's not easy to unattatch and reattatch z510 battery that is internal ! so at last i must say that i've checked a lot of ways and now my battery is still having problem !

Jan 25, 2015Earlier today, my Yoga 3 Pro decided to stop charging. When plugged in, the battery continues to drain as if it was not plugged in. I have tested the A/C adapter by plugging in my phone with a micro USB and that worked fine, and the USB charging slot works when my wireless mouse is plugged into it, so I assume it must be the strange Y3P USB cable that is not working.
Would a normal USB to USB cable work for charging my laptop? If not, how do I replace that "kink" USB cable?

Oct 12, 2010I have had my Dell Inspiron 1525 for around two years. For the past month, when my power supply is plugged in, the battery does not charge. It has been stuck on 3% and will automatically shut down when unplugged.
I have seen that this is a very common problem, however, when hovering over the battery icon it says: plugged in, CHARGING, where as all of the other posts that I have seen say: plugged in, NOT charging.
I have tried taking the battery out and restarting but this did not work. I also drained my battery and tried to recharge but again, this did not work. My initial thought is that I may need a new battery but I just wanted to check first.

Oct 26, 2013My lenovo Y510P used to always be at 100% but I have realized it has been decreasing by 1 every day. I have it on Maximum Battery Life with the Energy Management application.
It is currently at 85% and I would have posted this sooner if I had payed attention. I changed it to Optimized Battery Health and it is now dropping, currently at 75%.
I always leave the laptop plugged in because I usually play games on it such as battlefield, dayZ, counter strike, etc.

Jan 4, 2014I've been playing Battlefield 3 for some time on Auto settings (most of them are Ultra) and my FPS were always in the range 65-85. Yesterday morning everything was fine, however at night when I opened the game again I had 10-15 FPS. I haven't changed anything in my laptop settings so I don't know why this is happening.
P.S: I only have 1 GPU (not the SLI version) so I know it's not a loss of power. But my battery settings are set to "Optimized battery health". Does it affect performance ?

Feb 10, 2015I've got Y510p with USB 2.0 not working. By the time it malfunctioned it was under warranty and I sent it in the service center. They have claimed that it has been repaired (USB board has been changed) but it is still not working and my warranty ended like 3 days after I sent it back. Jan 3, 2015When I recieved my Y510p about 8 months ago, the usb ports worked perfectly fine. Around October they stopped working properly. The only solution which I found to work was doing a system restore. When I did this, an Unrecognized Device in the Device Manager was no longer unrecognized, and was instead replaced by USB xHCL (or something along those lines). However, as soon as i restared my computer again, the ports broke, and the unrecognized device reappeared. Repeating the restore followed by a restart breaks the ports every time.

Apr 9, 2014My Y510p has been freezing on startup, every startup. It can be completely inoperable for upwards of half an hour before unfreezing. Jan 10, 2014I have a new y510p I just received this week. First thing I did was replace the 1TB HD with my own OCZ Vertex 4 256GB SSD Drive.When I power on the laptop for the first time, it does not find a bootable device (goes through network devices, then says no bootable devices). If I use ctrl-alt-delete to reboot the laptop, it then finds the drive on its own and starts booting into Windows.
I'd like to understand why this does not work on the first boot? I went into the BIOS and saw it says there that no drives are detected.This worries me slightly, as perhaps one day it will decide to no longer recognize the drive after the ctrl-alt-delete?

When I open up the task manager its says my memory is at 70%-100% WHILE IDLE but the programs are only using like 25%-40% memory so something is hidden. Just looking for a fix or allocating more memory to Windows. I have an 8Gb system.
