Lenovo T400 / T500 :: T431s Plugged In But Not Charging
Jun 8, 2013I just got a new T431s thinkpad. However, I can not charge my laptop even I plugged in. What's going on ? Btw, T431s can not manually remove battery.

View 5 RepliesI inserted a mobile broadband SIM card into the slot of my T431s, as described in the user manual. The SIM Card (EE 4G) works fine in my Huawei Mobile Wifi E589.
The Laptop is installed with WIN7 64bit Professional and all WIN7 updates are installed. I gave the laptop to our IT department, who called Lenovo Helpdesk and we got the reply that they can give us a brand new image of the harddisk which MAY fix it. Our IT department as well as myself tried everything including the obvious such as access connections. The WIFI module in access connections is greyed out. It seems that the SIM Card is not recognised. We tried also SIM cards from different providers, which do not work.
Having just spent some time installing my programmes and files, I am reluctant to have the whole laptop wiped and re-imaged....
I want to buy a T431S (20AA0012MH) and I want it to work with a dock: The ThinkPad Mini Dock Plus Series 3 type 4338 (looks like this one: [URL] .....)
First question; fits the laptop the dock? Second question; can i use two 1600x900 resolution screens connected with DVI to that dock with this laptop?
I recently picked up a T431s from the outlet. Nice ultrabook. Lighter than my T520 and T410. I have been using the 4337 and 4338 dock solutions for both of those units. I had done research before purchasing the T431s and was assured by Lenovo that the unit would work in both a 4337 and 4338 with an adapter (part number 04x0856 - Lenovo CS09 Dock Adapter). The part is shown here: CS09 Part. The T431s did not ship with the Lenovo CS09 Dock Adapter and I have been looking everywhere to locate one so that I can use it in either the 4337 or 4338 dock. Is there another part number that I am missing?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a fairly new (purchased 8/2013) Lenovo ThinkPad T431s with Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit. It has a very tricky error coming basically 8 / 10 boots: Windows is Scanning and repairing drive... (see attached image).
Error details from Windows Event Viewer:
A corruption was discovered in the file system structure on volume ?Volume{f62db2cf-efe4-4b55-a3f7-0e7db991a984}.
A file on the volume is no longer reachable from its parent directory. The parent file reference number is 0x2000000000002. The name of the parent directory is "<unable to determine file name>". The parent index attribute is ":$I30:$INDEX_ALLOCATION". The file reference number of the file that needs to be reconnected is 0x400000003db80. There may be additional files on the volume that also need to be reconnected to this parent directory.
What is wrong (my personal analysis): To me, it seems that for some reason there is one (all the Event Viewer details point to similar error) corrupted / missing Windows (System) file that is causing this, but what the file(s) is/are.
Other symptoms on my laptop is that after loggin in and using whatever app (Windows delivered or 3rd party), the whole laptop jams totally for say 30-240 seconds and all apps go to "Not Responding" state untill Laptop recovers AND I can continue using my Laptop "normally".
What has been done trying to fix that:
1) SSD disk has been changed (image from previous SSD copied back) -> no solution, error remains
2) chkdsk /F /R -> no solution, error remains
3) SFC /scannow -> no solution, error remains
4) dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth -> no solution, error remains after a few boots
5) TRIED using "Update & Recovery -> Refresh Your PC without affecting your files" -> Inserted the Lenovo "Operating System Recovery Disk Windows 8 Pro (OEM Activation 3.0 Required)" BUT Windows did not accept that DVD claiming "The media inserted is not valid"... ???
6) Ended up calling Lenovo Support and they instructed me to order the Recovery DVD from [URL] ..... -> Waiting that to arrive...
I have a T431s laptop and I need to be able to connect a firewire (1394) cable to it, such as an external HDD/Camera etc - obviously I need to get some sort of adapter (if it's even possible) .....
I mistakenly bought a PCMCIA Card adapter after someone suggested it - Not knowing much about computers I should have checked first though as the T431s doesn't have a PCMCIA slot..
I'm using Windows 8.1 on a t431s. I'm having this problem where none of my external storage is being recognized. Under "Device Manager" any sort of external storage I plug in ends up under "Other devices". When I click on the device, I get Code 28 "The drivers for this device are not installed." Trying to update the driver brings me nowhere. The devices don't appear under disk management.
What's weird is that other USB peripherals such as mice and USB headphones don't have any problem.
Here's what I've tried so far:
Updated the BIOS.
Used Lenovo's SCCM package for Windows 8.1
Tried installing the individual drivers for each hard drive.
Nothing works!
As a confirmed trackpoint user, having the mouse built into the trackpad of the T431s is causing me all sort of grief, including sore wrists - but there are two problems I can't seem to diagnose.
1) When clicking the pad for left mouse click, it often does not work until I click it a few times. I notice this more when I disable the trackpad for cursor movement (which I had to do because the cursor moves when I try to click) - but its there even when that is enabled. It comes and goes. I guess there could be some foot trapped in there, but I've only had it a week and been pretty careful. I'd rather not learn to remove the keyboard on day 6.
2) The right click gets into a condition where, when browsing,a click brings up a new tab of the link I clicked on, rather than showing me the options (open in new tab, incognito window, save link, etc). If I connect a real mouse, it is normal.
I have a refurbished T410 that words fine and charges the battery when plugged in. When I remove the power ca ble, it dies immediately. The battery shows fully charged, but will not turn on unless the power cable is plugged in.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Lenovo T500 will not turn on, despite being plugged into the wall. Even when it's plugged in, none of the indicator lights show that the computer is plugged in. It also won't turn on using the battery.
View 6 Replies View RelatedFor some reason, but seemingly all of a sudden, when I plug my T530 in, the battery does not charge. When I move my cursor over the "power" icon in desktop mode, the message "Plugged in, not charging" appears. How do I alter this, so that I may charge my battery?
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy thinkpad T410 (2537-UQF) with an OCZ Vertex 3 SSD only boots if the power supply is plugged in. If i have full battery and try to boot without the power supply i get a blue screen after being about 60 seconds in the screen where the windows logo appears. I have Windows 7 installed fresh a few days ago.
I think its possible, that i have made some failure with the drivers. The ThinkPad Power Managers always stops working after booting. So i have removed the program by using the "msconfig" functionality.
This doesn't always happen, but I've noticed a few times on my T440p that when I have headphones plugged in, sounds comes out of the speakers. The headphones are functional and fully plugged in, yet no sound comes out of them, and the sound comes out of the speakers. I've fixed this multiple times by unplugging the headphones and plugging them back in.
(My problem differs from this one, where sounds comes from both the headphones and speakers)....
I use a T440 with WIN8.1 pro machine but for whatever reason the external battery has stopped charging. As this laptop is only 3 months old Lenovo send me a brand new one but the outcome was the same, the charge symbol comes up on my screen when rebooting the machine and shortly after stops completely. I have now had my internal battery pack changed and again no improvement.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI use a T440 with Windows 8. External battery not charging. Always 0%. The internal battery is charged to 80%, external battery will not charge. If I disconnect the external battery, the internal charging to 100%. Did fully discharge, it is still only charged internal battery.

View 5 Replies View RelatedHave a brand new X1 Carbon running windows 7. It originally came with Windows 8 but had to downgrade to run a necessary work application (which could be the problem). My battery never exceeds 50% even when plugged in for extended periods. Also, I am not seeing any of the "Rapid Charge" that was promoted.

I have a problem with my battery on a brand new E430. I've used it for 1 week w/o problems and now it simply doesn't want to charge the battery anymore. It is stuck on 48% and I have a message saying "plugged in, not charging".
EDIT: I run Win 8 (64 bit) - absolutely everything is up to date, including BIOS.
I bought my lenovo z400 ideapad beginning of April this year and just about two days ago it just turned off and though I plugged it in later it started saying 'plugged in but not charging'. What do you think is the problem?
Furthermore I lost the receipt ( the sales receipt) but there is still the model/series no. , is the warranty still on?
I installed windows 8.1 pro with WMC on my lenovo z510 laptop and installed energy management driver from laptop's drivers dvd. After I installed LEM (lenovo energy management) i started the gauge reset process for my laptop.
After some hours i saw nothing is happening so i made a mistake and cancelled gauge reset in the management software and after that when i restarted my laptop my battery icon says PLUGGED IN CHARGING but it just remians on 0% !!!!!
Problem solved by for example uninstall and reinstalling MICROSOFT ACPI. but notice that i reinstalled my windows 8.1 ! i changed in to windows 7 ! again changed it to windows 8.1 !!!
I updated the energy management software ! nothing happened !
Then try to restart to BIOS menu and from there restore BIOS defaults ! but i couldn't enter BIOS from any ways ! from pressing F1 ! from the way based on windows 8.1 and UEFI frimware settings (somthing like that) ! from none of them i could enter the BIOS!
So now my battery is still facing the problem !you know that it's not easy to unattatch and reattatch z510 battery that is internal ! so at last i must say that i've checked a lot of ways and now my battery is still having problem !
i tried to update the firmware but it tells me "No battery attached requires firmware update"
i tried uninstall and install energy management also didn't work
I had brought a new G500 Lap it was nice to work with it, but fo past two days when i connected it with charger it shows me "Plugged In, not charging". what to di with it but some times to get charging .
View 7 Replies View RelatedBought a refurb T400 and installed a PNY SSD in it. It POST's okay and I can access bios. I can also read/install Linux from DVD just fine.
Trouble is when I insert my win7 home premium DVD into the drive and boot it, I get POST and then I get a black screen. It seems to be reading the drive and when I interrupt with the Esc key or open the DVD drive, I get a Windows menu explaining that the installation has been interrupted.
I've looked at the bios options and can't see anything obvious that should be changed.
I have tried to make a fresh Windows 7 installation, but after installing updates via Lenovo System Update the system gets corrupt.I replaced the hard drive on an T400 and loaded a image that I had on to the drive. After a installing a few updates and program I noticed strange system beaver. So I did a system file check and it came back that files was corrupt and cold not be repaired. So I did a new fresh Windows install. But it to became corrupt after just running Windows Update and Lenovo System Update. So I ran some hard drive and memory diagnostic without find and problems.
Then I did a new Windows 7 install again. After I installed all recommended updates from Windows Update I did a system file check, all OK. The I installed Lenovo System Update and all its recommended updates and did a new system file check, Windows system files corrupt. What Lenovo update is destroying the system?
Earlier today, my Yoga 3 Pro decided to stop charging. When plugged in, the battery continues to drain as if it was not plugged in. I have tested the A/C adapter by plugging in my phone with a micro USB and that worked fine, and the USB charging slot works when my wireless mouse is plugged into it, so I assume it must be the strange Y3P USB cable that is not working.
Would a normal USB to USB cable work for charging my laptop? If not, how do I replace that "kink" USB cable?
My T500 (2241-3XU with Win 7 64 bit Ultimate) has never been able to wake up from sleep mode after lid is closed. I finally reverted to using hibernate but was just wondering if there is a new fix that I am not aware of. I tried to find info a couple of years back before switching to hibernate.
