Installed Power Mgr 6.63.1. When click on the green battery symbol the program does not start only pops up in the activity field as a red icon (battery symbol). I am used to that the program starts and I can change power settings, look at battery condition etc. I have reinstalled it twice with same strange result....

View 2 Replies View RelatedA new T440s makes multiple times problems after start or sleep mode. Windows 7 comes up but instead of login screen a black screen appears. Just the F7 wireless control gives response. When it happens after wake a programs are runing in background but the screen is black.
I did already all updates, just not my BIOS, it is 2.11 but now 2.19 is available. I hesitate BIOS updates.
I could return the laptop since it is within the 2 week return garantie.
I've got a fairly new T440s for which I've set up fingerpringt reading. I was wondering if there'd be an (easy) way to change the picture displayed on the welcome/login screen. I'm not talking about the background, but the icon in the middle that is currently a picture of a fingerprint.
I looked around at other threads and they either referred to editing .dll files (above my head a bit) or some picture in "C:Program FilesThinkVantage Fingerprint Software" which is not a directory on my machine. I'm running the latest version of Lenovo Fingerprint Manager Pro, and nothing in the Fingerprint Manager Pro program files looked persipacious.
I have a T440s and have an issue with the camera. It seems to turn on (little green light comes on) when I access the Windows 8 camera app or any other app (like skype), but I do not see anything out of the camera except for a gray screen with a camera icon that has a bar through it. It looks like the camera needs to be activated somewhere but where to look. I have checked the driver and it seems to be fine (no yellow warning icon), I even unistalled and reinstalled the latest camera driver from the support website but that does not change anything.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI was having sound issues that I fixed by updating my BIOS from the website's drivers. However now I can no longer use the middle click button. I used this for opening new tabs and now it doesnt even work for scrolling either. I have auto scroll enabled in firefox and I have confirmed that it does not work in IE either. I went to control panel -> Mouse and there is not even an option for a middle button.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a new T440 running win 7 pro 64bit. The audio is not working.
When I first boot, the sound icon in the task bar shows that the system is muted, but the mute button (f1) is not lit.
-If I press the mute button the light goes on and the indicator on the task bar shows the system is no longer muted.
-If I have sound playing, when I toggle from the light on and the tray indicating not in mute to the ligt off and the tray indicating the system is in mute, I get a split second sound.
I have installed the realtek device drivers
I have installed the lenovo system update and all of the critical and reccomended updates.
The device manager indicates that everything is working properly.
I have the Lenovo T440p model.
First is while I'm docked in at work I use a normal key board and it has a right click botton on it. When I go home I do not have that button and know for previous models there is a short cut that you can do to "right click" rather than going to the track pad and right clicking.
Second is for the F1, F2, F3, etc... to work I have to hold down the Fn button. Is there a way to turn around the keys to where when I hold down the Fn key and press F1 it actually mutes the sound. I guess im trying to say is there a way to switch the primary function of the F row?
As a confirmed trackpoint user, having the mouse built into the trackpad of the T431s is causing me all sort of grief, including sore wrists - but there are two problems I can't seem to diagnose.
1) When clicking the pad for left mouse click, it often does not work until I click it a few times. I notice this more when I disable the trackpad for cursor movement (which I had to do because the cursor moves when I try to click) - but its there even when that is enabled. It comes and goes. I guess there could be some foot trapped in there, but I've only had it a week and been pretty careful. I'd rather not learn to remove the keyboard on day 6.
2) The right click gets into a condition where, when browsing,a click brings up a new tab of the link I clicked on, rather than showing me the options (open in new tab, incognito window, save link, etc). If I connect a real mouse, it is normal.
Is it possible to run a t500 without a battery? I found a t500 in my basement without a battery or adapter, however i am not sure if it works or not, so i was wondering if i could just buy the adapter to see if it boots up or not because i don't want to go through the process of returning etc.

Anyway, when I fill out forms, I like to use tab to move from field to field. In Windows, I have absolutely no problem with that. However, on my Macbook, when I hit tab, it will always skip drop down menus. It's an inconvenience when I have to pick up the mouse and navigate to the drop down and select my choice.
This isn't as efficient.
Is there anyway to make the browser select the dropdown menu once if I hit tab and it is the immediate field that follows?
I do have Lenovo Power manager icon on the taskbar, so I can monitor the battery charge. However, if I forget to watch the icon, the laptop goes into hibernation unexpectedly. Is there a way to enable a visual alarm like an pop-up icon which would remind of low battery?

For some reason, but seemingly all of a sudden, when I plug my T530 in, the battery does not charge. When I move my cursor over the "power" icon in desktop mode, the message "Plugged in, not charging" appears. How do I alter this, so that I may charge my battery?

The plug and battery lights do illuminate when I plug it into an outlet; when I turn it on, the num lock and caps lock lights illuminate briefly, and the power status indicator light illuminates. It makes a few whirring noises, and then just sits there. !

Recently my T510 9 cell battery suddenly stopped working. According to the Lenovo battery utility, the battery condition is poor and it suggests replacing a battery.
However, the battery seems still have 99% capacity, either by Lenovo utility or by other softwares. Before the failing it lasts 3-4 hours and charges normally.
I read several posts online and see some people have similar problems. It is suggested that maybe one of the cells fail so the circuit stopped the battery from working/or the safety circuits just malfunctions? Or indeed I need to replace the battery.
I understand that messing with battery is risky and I believe it is detected as not working for a good reason. However, I am wondering if there is a way to assure that my battery is completely dead, but not a problem with other hardware or the OS, before I purchase a new battery. For example, using a volmeter on the whole batteryto see if I can get a reading, or opening up the battery case and test on each cell?
Is it doable to replace a single cell if one of them fails?
PS: For people who says that they connect two terminals of the battery to a volmeter and see no readings, I believe you also need to ground the safety pin to turn on the battery.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a T420 with Windows 7 SP1. I bought a replacement battery of 0A36303 (ThinkPad Battery 70++ (9 cell)) and got one with a new Replacement part number (FRU) of 45N1007 (it is clearly written on the battery alongside “ASM P/N 45N1006”).

After I installed it in the laptop and made sure to run System Update and update all the Lenovo software to its latest versions.
I also run the Lenovo Battery Firmware update utility, which informed me that the battery has the latest firmware (0003-0080-0100-0165). [URL] .....
When I run “Power Manager” (latest version, 6.66.3) and choose the tab of “Battery” I have this mismatch data:
Both “Design Capacity” and “Full Charge Capacity” shows "90.00 Wh" which almost fits the characteristics of the 0A36303 battery (as detailed at [URL] .....) which is "94 Wh" (in compare with "57 Wh" for the 0A36302 model, detailed on the same web page mentioned above)
But the “FRU part number” field says “45N1001” which fits the “0A36302” model… (as detailed at [URL] ....)
Why is this mismatch?
I recently bought a Thinkpad 540p and wanted to know a way for stopping the battery from getting charged after a certain level. Its a very common feature to stop a battery from charging say after 80% and run on AC power supply directly.
Other lenovo laptops do support it, under various apps like Energy Manager, or Power Manager but I am not able to find any such options/app on my laptop?
I've owned a ThinkPad T430 for about one year now. Originally I was fairly impressed with the battery life (around 4.5 hours) but now after owning it for a year I am very unimpressed with it's short 3 hour life now.
I have read that batteries should be expected to do this, although I have friends with a MacBook Pro which has lost maybe 20% of it's charge over three years not one year like my ThinkPad!
My specs are listed below:
OS: Windows 8 (upgraded from 7)
Ram: 8GB (4*2 DIMM - came with 4GB and I upgrade it with 4 more)
CPU: i5-3210M 2.5GHZ
Hard Drive: Samsung 840 Pro 256GB SSD (upgraded from the 320GB 7200RPM HDD before...if I have got those specs right)
I recently installed the new SSD and expected to see my battery life shoot up again (hopefully at least half an hour) but I really haven't noticed any such improvement.
I use the battery frequently for school and run the battery down to about 20% maybe twice a week on school weeks?
Is this kind of deterioration to be expected and should I simply purchase a new battery if I need that extra 1.5 hours?
According to the Windows 8 battery report the original full charge capacity was: 49,286 mWh, now it is: 39,780 mWh.
I use a T440 with WIN8.1 pro machine but for whatever reason the external battery has stopped charging. As this laptop is only 3 months old Lenovo send me a brand new one but the outcome was the same, the charge symbol comes up on my screen when rebooting the machine and shortly after stops completely. I have now had my internal battery pack changed and again no improvement.

If I disconnect the external battery, the internal charging to 100%. Did fully discharge, it is still only charged internal battery.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI just got my T440s a couple of weeks ago. I stupidly ordered it with only 4GB of RAM, thinking that I couple upgrade it myself if neccessary (and it would be much cheaper that way).
Well it seems 4GB definately isn't enough for my needs, so I ordered another 4GB stick. I installed it, plugged the machine in and powered it up. And was met with the tone for a memory error. Probably the module isn't seated correctly, but I suppose it could be faulty.
Anyway, you'll notice I said that I plugged it in before powering up. That means that the internal battery has been reactivated. I can confirm this because it will start (and give me the error) without being plugged in and without the external battery connected. So my problem is, how do I disable the internal battery again to remove or reseat the problem DIMM, since I can't get to the UEFI/BIOS configuration to disable it.
I have a look at my battery report today and found something really awkward. I bought the computer seven months ago, and the battery start with Design capacity 44,000wWh, while the full charge capacity is quite closer to the design capacity. However in the battery report it shows that two weeks ago the design capacity suddenly drop from 44000 to 40734mWh in one week, and then afterwards it drop to 39000mWh. And the actual full charge capacity seems to linger around 37000mWh. Is there something wrong or is my battery just wear out naturally?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded my ThinkPad T430s to Windows 8 Pro and ever since my ultrabay battery gives me an error when ever I restart or turn the machine on. It goes away after I hit ok and the battery appears to still be functioning but the error is super annoying. I have the latest drivers and software from Lenovo and I have already had the battery replaced via tech support. Its so annoying i'm tempted to see if I can just get the whole unit swapped.

I tried troubleshooting my uninstalling and reinstalling the Lenovo Power Manager. I also updated the BIOS. Neither of those gave me any luck. I tried getting rid of the microsoft acpi-compliant control method battery, but that keeps coming back.
I have a T440P, Up to recently, I was in Windows 7 with Lenovo Power Manager set with threshold charging limited at 63%, So far so good. Now, Windows 8.1 has been installed from scratch (Not an upgrade).
The laptop with windows 8.1 still stop charging at 63%. But there is no Lenovo Power Manager available for windows 8.1. I don't find any solution to deactivate this limitation...
