Lenovo T400 / T500 :: Network Activity Monitor For Windows 7
Nov 28, 2011
Is there a small/free application for download (preferably one that doesn't require going through installation process) that shows how each Windows applications accesses the internet, transfer rates and amounts of data being transferred?
I have been running ubuntu on my T420s for about 2 years now. Needed a Windows box to work from home so I installed Windows 7 Home Premium - Service Pack 1 on it. Installation went smooth but Windows did not recognize my wireless card, preventing me from connecting to the internet to download and install the rest of my drivers. I tried to manually install the Intel Wireless Lan (bg, abg, abgn) for Windows (64-bit) Centrino Advanced-N 6205 which is what I thought was installed on my machine to no avail.
I am running 2 external displays through the ultradock on my t440s. The built in display looks nice and crisp. My second monitor is 1440x2560. The task bar is sharp and the title of most windows looks good. All programs looks terrible. Firefox is a blurry mess.
Installed Power Mgr 6.63.1. When click on the green battery symbol the program does not start only pops up in the activity field as a red icon (battery symbol). I am used to that the program starts and I can change power settings, look at battery condition etc. I have reinstalled it twice with same strange result....
I've got a ThinkPad T520 and I just bought a Netgear N600 Dual-band Cable Modem Router but my laptop isn't seeing the 5GHz wireless network? Is it even capable of doing so?
Realtek 2x2 11b/g/n wireless LAN M.2 adapter does not detect my home 5ghz network. Driver (version 2012.10.224.2014) is up to date. 2ghz band works fine. Could it be that 5ghz is not supported by this $2k laptop?
Running on Windows 7. I've read similar problems that others have posted, which is the monitor goes black during bootup. My machine boots fine, but every few minutes the monitor goes black / dies - no backlight.
This lasts a minute or so, then the display go back to normal. Then it goes black again. Then it goes back to normal. It's not sleeping, the HDD keeps on spinning.
I've checked the graphics driver - no update available. I reinstalled it anyway. The built in lenovo utility -thinkvantage- is of no support.
At this stage I'm wondering about the integrity of the motherboard.
My new T440s sees my home networks yet won't connect with passwords that absolutely are correct. Running Windows 7 (64-bit) Pro, everything is updated.
Also, it won't even connect to an open network.
This is bizarre...and makes the machine nearly useless.
I have bought a Philips Brilliance 272P4 external monitor. Connected the monitor with DVI through docking. I get 1920 x 1080 as max resolution. The monitor displays a note, that I should use 2560 x 1440. I have installed the newest driver to the monitor.
The display card (Nvidia NVS 5400M) is using 333.02 driver, that is the latest recommended. How to enable higher resolution?
Do I get higher resolution with using the displayport insted of DVI port?
I just got a new Thinkpad 540p but it can't consistently connect to my home wireless network. Since a day of getting it, it was able to connect on 3 separate occasions. One being the one during the initial set up which was fine. But after that it will resort to a limited access state after a few minutes as well as with the other instances that I was able to connect. The same thing happens if I try to restart it right away after connecting. It goes to limited access. If I disconnect and try to reconnect, it won't allow me to. It prompts me to a troubleshooting step which did not work at all. I've been trying all day and night to look up solutions but with no clear one ....
This one runs on Windows 7 btw.... The wireless adapter is just a 2x2 11b/g/n wireless lan m.2 adapter... updated drivers and everything. Also, none of our other devices such as mobile phones and an HP desktop have problems connecting.
I just purchased a new T430s and, overall, I've been very happy with it. However, I'm having trouble getting a particular multi-monitor configuration to work.I am trying to get the very first configuration as is described on this page. URL....It is simply a 3-monitor setup where one monitor is external and hooked up via VGA, another monitor is external and hooked up via DisplayPort, and the third monitor is the actual laptop monitor. I simply cannot get this to work! I can plug in a single external monitor, but when I try and plug in a second, it always disables my laptop monitor, so I end up with only a 2-monitor setup.
I've called Lenovo Support 3 times after encountering this problem, and They kept citing that it was a "configuration" issue and that it's not their problem, and then they'd forward me to another department which would then forward me right back to them.
I have T410 with Nvidia NVS 3100M with driver version 189.55 connected to external Acer monitor capable of 2560x1440 linked with DisplayPort cable. But, I can't get resolution higher than 1920x1080. What do I need to do?
I have tried to make a fresh Windows 7 installation, but after installing updates via Lenovo System Update the system gets corrupt.I replaced the hard drive on an T400 and loaded a image that I had on to the drive. After a installing a few updates and program I noticed strange system beaver. So I did a system file check and it came back that files was corrupt and cold not be repaired. So I did a new fresh Windows install. But it to became corrupt after just running Windows Update and Lenovo System Update. So I ran some hard drive and memory diagnostic without find and problems.
Then I did a new Windows 7 install again. After I installed all recommended updates from Windows Update I did a system file check, all OK. The I installed Lenovo System Update and all its recommended updates and did a new system file check, Windows system files corrupt. What Lenovo update is destroying the system?
Lenovo T400 to install Windows XP on it..It previously worked fine with windows 7 and 8.1.so it boots in windows XP preinstall screen, it formats hdd and like usual installation automatically restarts after that BUT its black screen, lights and sounds show that it works and goes to next screen BUT the screen is still black. Powering down and turn on again is not showing any screen picture. Opened it removed Bios battery, turned up after few on and off it starts it reset bios.
So now there is picture and it goes on the next screen of windows instalation like normal, after installing devices and stuff it automatically restarts like usual BUT it has NO screen again, black screen, lights and sounds again show that its loading windows end instalation screen but no picture on the screen. Reset BIOS again, it starts normaly and this time it shows BSoD with code 0x7B, after BSOD Black screen again..Maybe its a BIOS setting?!? tried installing with drivers for AHCI and tried installing without drivers for Compatible , what else can it be? Updated the bios to latest version, same result. To say it again - it works fine with other windows, but XP must be installed
I am using T440. I just upgrade the operating system from windows 7 to windows 8 using recovery disk. I upgrade according to the manual paper in the box.
The issue is, the windows 8 is installed in my HDD with capacity 500GB and the SSD 16GB are not detected. My question is, it should be installed in my 500GB HDD or the SSD drive? What are the correct steps to do recovery if I 500GB HDD and SSD drive?
I cannot install Windows 8.1. I have a T430. I go into the app store, start installing 8.1, it downloads, starts installing, and fails just after that point -- at 54% -- with the error message 0x80070002. That apparently means "File not found", but the Windows Update logs don't point to which file is not found, only giving:
I have bought new T440p (20AN006NUS). Everywhere was written that it comes with preinstalled Windows 7 pro and also includes Windows 8 pro license.
As I understand license key for Windows 8 is embeded in BIOS. But I have not any installation media for Windows 8 included in the box with laptop. How upgrade to Windows 8 should look like?
I want to upgrade my BIOS, but there is no update available for bios in windows 8.1.. My Bios version is 1.18, I want to update because i read somewhere that if your fan make noise make sure you have updated BIOS :A.. I want to know if I can install "BIOS update for win 8" in my lenovo t410 with windows 8.1..
Windows 7 64bit on my T510 has died. When logging in, it hangs on the login screen forever. Windows recovery failed too. It ran for 8 hours and reported error (something like error in restoring a file and disk is full, though my C drive is half empty). After that all the Windows restoration points are gone. So I suppose I have to do factory reset.
My question is, I made two additional partitions on my hard drive using external tools, which store all of my data. So when I do factory reset, will these two partitions be overwritten? How I can recover the system while keeping all my data?
When I connect the USB 3.0 dock to my T440s, I then cannot get the second LCD monitor to be recognised by Windows via the USB3.0.
The monitor is not being recognised as it is is not seen as one of the optional displays in the 'Intel HD Graphics control panel' window.
The driver however for the second monitor is fully up to date and it works fine when I connect the LCD to the VGA port directly on my computer. Also the second monitor is being recognised partly by the windows OS as it comes up as a second screen under the 'screen resolution' window.
My set up is shown below. I am thinking that perhaps there is an issue with either the NVIDIA or Intel HD graphics chip. I read somewhere that windows uses one or the other depending on the load. I am worried that there is some problem with that mechanism. All driver are up to date.
System Unit Nvidia GT730M Graphics without docking connector Processor 4th Gen Intel Core i7-4600U Processor (4MB Cache, up to 3.30GHz) Display Panel 14.0" FHD IPS With WWAN
I'm running Win 7, and I have the most up-to-date drivers from the Lenovo site. I have turned on loudness equalization, but it has not worked. This is an across-the-board problem. What I mean by that is, this problem persists regardless of the application, which I happen to be using. For instance, I use Media Player Classic: Home Cinema to watch movies. If the volume is at 0%, as I begin adjusting it upward, the volume level rises. However, as I reach about 70%, the volume stops increasing. There are audio adjustments w/in the application to boost the volume, but they serve to provide minimal effects. Overall, the volume is incredibly low. If you're sitting more than a few feet away from the laptop, it is inaudible.
I have replaced my old sata disk with a ssd disk . Intel 520 240 gb. on my T520. I have a Windows 7 and a minor Linux partition. Dual boot. I have moved the old image with Arconis True HD.
However, there is a HUGE difference in boot times between Windows and Linux.
Windows is 1 min and 35 sec with windows logo until login screen appears. Then additional 20 seconds.
Linux is 7-10 seconds from Lenovo sign in bios until I'm ready to go. Off course I did not expect Windows to boot as fast as Linux, but things has worsened after the change.
When Windows is up and running the SSD disk is preforming in the same speedy way as under Linux. It is just the boot situation which is terrible. AHCI is enabled .
Just bought a T420 (4236) from Ebay with no discs.Have installed W7 but can't connect to the home wifi connection am getting a message "windows did not detect any networking hardware".do I need to install them all to get a connection to the internet?
I installed Windows 8 x64 recently and installed all the drivers. I was pretty sure that all the devices were installed.I was having a hardware power management problem before installing Windows 8 that I was hoping was a software issue that reinstalling the OS would fix. Turns out it wasn't software, but had to have the main board replaced under warranty. Even after the main board replacement, I was still pretty sure I saw all the device drivers were installed under device manager.
I'm noticing an "unknown device" listed that doesn't have a driver installed. I know often these can be the TPM or other system device, but I have the TPM installed as well as the chipset software and power management driver. But there is still this unknown device. The only clue I have as to what the device could be is under details, the "hardware ids" property value is "rootsscbfs_storlib_bus3". A Google search brings up nothing for this string. "STORLIB" makes it seem like it has something to do with storage, but I have the Intel RST driver (11.7 from Intel) as well as the card reader driver installed. I can confirm the card reader is functioning fine too.
I have a T440p with a Windows 7 professional 64 bit. I got the same problem: camera light is on, but I can't see any preview but only a crossed camera on a grey background.
Since my operating system is Windows 7, I don't have a "setting app" in my laptop.
My new T540p came with IE 11, and from time to time, I get a bar across the top of the big window where it's asking me to type in my *Windows* password. Not for whatever site I'm on, but my WINDOWS password. My year or so older T440 does not do this, nor does my non-Lenovo work IE11. There's a red cirle in the far right of the bar, with a "voice balloon" with 4 Xs.
The machine is virus free, but why I'm getting this prompt ONLY in the browser.
When I move my finger across the touchscreen on my brand new T440s Windows 8 machine, a skinny dark line about one inch long follows my finger--whereever I move it.
