View 9 RepliesIn a few days I'll get my IdeaPad U310, and since it comes with 4GB DDR RAM, I'd like to do a upgrade to 8 GB. I understand it only has one slot for RAM, so I'll buy one stick of course, but I don't know if it's the same size as used in a desktop PC, or is it some mini-sized RAM stick?
I also need to know the voltage of it, is it 1.5V or different?
I recently got a U310 ideapad, and I am trying to run a Linux LiveCD that I put on my USB drive using uinetbootin. On the idea pad I made the settings for the BIOS have the boot order with USB FDD and USB Drives on the top. Even with fitting fn+F12 I am still not getting any success with the boot from USB.
View 9 Replies View RelatedJust upgraded the 24GB msata to a 120 GB msata and I'm having trouble cloning the hard drive over to the ssd with Clonezilla. The plan is to move the OS to the msata ssd and wiping the original hard dirve and using it for back-up and storage. The BIOS is current set to AHCI with Lagency OS support active but trying UEFI first. I've done this before with win 7 systems; but this is my first foray into win 8.1 w/UEFI. The system does recognize and access the 120 GB Crucial M500 msata disk; it just won't mirror the 8, win-8 partitions. I reinstalled the HD and rebooted the system; to ensure I didn't mess something up and everything seems to be working; though on the slow hard drive.
I did boot from the USB drive with Clonzillia on it and used the drive to drive cloning option...
I have a U310 ideapad. I turned it on this morning to listen to music on youtube. The videos wouldn't stream through but I was conected to the internet and view sites. Also the audio wasn't working on any applications. I have followed recomended sloutions by Lenovo and windows but it still wont work.

View 6 Replies View RelatedSo, I've just installed Windows 8.1, and all drivers needed, but I can't see any wireless networks (it says Off under Wi-Fi tab, and there's no way turning it on). Tried enabling/disabling device, reinstalling drivers, and F7 key but it only turns airplane mode on/off.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy battery stops charging around 58%. I have the power plan set to "optimized battery lifespan". I understand it has something to do with a charge/discharge threshold setting. How do I go about changing that? Also, what would be a good level to set it to (good for battery health).
View 9 Replies View RelatedI bought a u310 slightly used but had a failing HDD. The person who was using it installed an operating system on the SSD and now I can't seem to access the bios at all. I had read that this may happen if Rapid Start is not disabled before formatting the SSD.
What do I need to do to be able to access the bios again? There is no bios files listed as a download for this computer so I can't even seem to be able to flash the bios.
I already sent it to lenovo to replace the HDD and instead they tried to charge me $167 to image the machine, which I said no to and they sent the computer back without fixing it.
Lenovo IdeaPad U310 with i5-3317U CPU and Bios ver 65CN89WW (09/04/2012)
I downloaded BIOS Update file (65cn21ww.exe) from ([URL]...), but after start I got a message "ERROR 233 - Only secured capsule is allowed on a SecureFlash system! Status = 1."
What am I doing wrong? How to install the update BIOS?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have had a problem with my IdeaPad U310 for quite a while now (about a year), the problem is the touchpad, it work all the time, but the features of the touchpad, such as two-finger-scrolling and features like that, stop working everytime I open a Microsoft Office program.
It works fine again when the computer has been restarted, but as soon as a Microsoft program has been opened the problem is there again.
I have tried to solve it as described under the topic: "IdeaPad U310, U410, U510 - Touchpad stops responding while using Microsoft Office", but the problem is the same.
My Lenovo U310 Ideapad Has been Having speaker problems,
The Headphones are working fine but the Inbuilt speakers that are Awefully situated inbetween the hinge and the base of the Screen aren't working.
First i thought that this was a issue with the headphone jack assembly that might have cut off the internal speaker circuit due to improper removal of the headphone jack but thats not true because I noticed that Its an Issue with the angle I keep my Screen's tilt.
On moving the screen to any angle above 90 or 100 degrees the speakers get cut of and are activated once its below 80 degrees.
Using Lenovo Ideapad U310 Ultrabook !
So I recently updated my u310 Touch to Windows 8.1. My audio isn't working anymore. I've checked the drivers, and updated all that come with the Windows 8.1 update.
My Device Manager says that my Conexant SmartAudio HD is updated, and so is my Intel (R) Display Audio. To make sure, I downloaded and installed the drivers from the Lenovo support site. When I try to play something on iTunes or on Windows Media Player, it just stops, and no sound is emmited. Youtube, or any other music player on the web, isn't working either.
I am trying to enter bios and have tried the following and failed.
1) Through Advance Setup in Windows UEFI Firmware
2) FN F2 / F2
3) NOVO Key
The NOVO gives me an option to Bios Setup but it just boot me back to Windows 8.1.
After every startup I get an annoying pop-up message of Dolby Home theater that the Dolby-audiodriver was not able to start.
This phenomenon just started popping up since I upgraded from W7 to W8.
Dolby Home theater came with the Ideapad so is there a W8 update for this issue? Or perhaps I should just uninstall Dolby, but what are the consequences when I do so?

I updated the Bios of my Ideapad U310 to version 65CN99WW and now I can't enter Windows 8.1, it remains in a kind of boot menu. When I turn on the Laptop it desn't even show the Lenovo sign that used to,

Radio switch is on. Bios wireless is enabled, service WLAN AutoConfig is running in Auto mode.

Under Intel WiFi Link 1000 BGN driver (Device Manager) there is Yellow exclamation mark that stats "This device cannot be started"....
I have an x120e that's a few years old, works fine but is slow as mollasses. I want to do a fresh install of the OS, and want to do it in a way that brings the fewest headaches. I see there is a recovery partition but what that is for. I have googled this and seen suggestions but those ways seem to eliminate the built-in Lenovo functionality like the f keys and such.
Any easiest way to reinstall to speed up the machine without having to track down drivers and Lenovo-specific add-ons?
Love this machine, by the way.
I was updating some drivers yesterday and I accidentally uninstalled dobly home theater one way or another, and I have been searching the internet far and wide for a download but I could not come across one. When I go into the dolby tab it says I have dolby digital plus, and I can press the blue power button to turn it on, but I cannot select movie, game, or music as they are not there.
View 7 Replies View RelatedRecently I have had problem doing external monitor calibration under Win 8.1 64-bit. It turned out that that monitor did not show up in the "Device" pull-down menu in the Color Management. So I update the Intel HD graphic 400 driver. It didn't work. Then I uninstall the video driver and re-install from the scratch. Now I have found even the built-in monitor did not show up at the Color Management. Only printers show up in the Device pull-down menu.
I wonder if there other software or driver that I need to install? Or I have mseed up so One-touch Restore will be required?
For various reasons, I had to perform a complete reinstall of Windows 8.1 on my W530. Now, after updating the system with the Lenovo System Update app, all the icons on the desktop (laptop screen, not external) are considerably larger than before the resintall. This includes the task bar, etc.. as a matter of fact, it appears that I've lost a lot of real estate within apps as well, and everything generally appears to be 'fat'.
I have the screen resolution set to 1920 x 1080.
I am using the Intel HD Graphics 4000 driver dated 5/16/2014.
Interestingly enough, upon first boot from the rebuild (before the System Update updates) the screen was exactly as it was before. I did try to downgrade the driver to the built-in MSFT driver.. but that didn't accomplish anything.
I've attached a screen shot for those bored enough to care : Link to image
My Dell Vostro 3450 (windows 7) had been running slowly for a while and after a virus scan didn't work, I decided to reinstall my operating system. I used the OS reinstall disk that came with the computer and that seemed to work pretty well. However, when it came time to install the drivers, I hit a roadblock. I put in the drivers disk and tried to go through the list of what drivers to install first (DSS, then chipset, etc...) but each time I installed something, it didn't seem to do anything-- I would go through the whole process for each one, but the little check mark wouldn't appear next to it in the "My System" list.... See below:
My computer can't connect to the internet either by ethernet or wifi, and can only input info through the cd drive.
Last month I bought a Lenovo e545. I did an upgrade to windows 8.1 on my new system. After upgrading, I noticed several problems with my drivers and installation of them(Conextant audio driver, Windows location driver). Also none of the Windows 8 games work. So I thought I'd do a sfc /scannow first. There I got the message the system is locked. So I thought to reinstall my backup on the recovery partition. This also said the disk is locked. I tried reInstalling from a home made external USB hard disk with original recovery system, this also won't work. This makes all my recovery disks useless so I can not restore my computer if anything goes wrong...
Now the base of the problem might be influenced by one of these factors:
In trying to solve the problem I accidentally downgraded the BIOS from 1.10 to 1.09 (so maybe this infuences the Windows certificates in the BIOS, maybe a technician can tell me if this can happen) and can not find the 1.10 BIOS on the website to be downloaded and upgrade the BIOS again.I added 4 GB crucial RAM (1600)The Windows 8.1 upgrade is a pain in the ass and blocks the possibility somehow to recover the system. I really need to be able to recover the system to preform a clean system install...
I currently am doing IT work for a remote co-worker and he said that his T430 only came with Lenovo Recovery discs and that he doesn't have any standalone Microsoft Office discs. Is there a download for the Microsoft Office Home and Business 2010 version that he's using that I can download to his machine, so I don't have to use the recovery discs for a factory reset?
I tried going to Microsoft's site to get the 2010 version, but when I entered his key, it said that there's no download available for the OEM version of Office 2010.
I have accidentally deleted the screen rotation program in my Yoga 2 Pro. What program it is and how to reinstall?

View 9 Replies View RelatedJust purchased a G50-30 with win 7 x64. Decided to update the BIOS A7CN40WWW_64 from Lenovo website. The notebook version was A7CN23WW.
Upon reboot, after successful BIOS update, Win 7 booted with errors of Repair option or Normal boot up. Even re-installation of Win 7 will yield BSOD - ACPI non compliant.
Have changed BIOS settings defaults from UEFI to Legacy, it still does not work. This BIOS version is not stable. Can i request for the earlier version of BIOS ?
Lenovo V570, I'm on Windows 7 64-bit.
I have an esata port, and was going to get an internal hard drive with a case that converts the drive into an esata drive. I'm wanting to get a 3 TB drive, and in order to get it to read all 3 TB, I'll need to reformat the drive in GPT format (not MBR). Right?
I see a thing online that says the SATA controller has to be compatible with GPT in order to do this. I want to use it as an external drive, without any operating system on it, so I'm not worried about getting Windows to run on it; just if I can format it as GPT and get the full 3 TB out of the drive. I don't want to buy the 3 TB drive and then find out I can only get 2 because of the motherboard. If that site was correct, then I need to know if the sata controller is compatible with GPT.
I see this listed under the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers list: Intel Mobile Express Chipset SATA AHCI Controller.
I tried to call Lenovo support but could only tell me that she thinks I have SATA 0 or 1, but nothing about the controller in this model or GTP compatibility.
How do I find this out?
