Lenovo X / Helix Tablet :: ThinkPad X220 - Cannot Download Drivers Because Of Redirect
Oct 28, 2012
When I try to download driver I get: The document you have requested is not available.
[URL] .....
After long time I get the error msg. It is poor because a test robot can find the error.
Where do I find the driver?

I have an X220 with a WWAN card. I don't use it anymore so I will be switching it out for an MSATA. I will then have two spare large antennas. I know that sometimes you want to match antenna size to wavelenght and sometimes you just want a big atenna. If in wifi, you just want it bigger, well, the WWAN antennas are bigger. Should I swap the wires so my wifi gets the bigger antennas?

Running in extended desktop mode with my external monitor as the primary, the touch works as input on the laptop but the pen does not. When I put the pen to the screen of the tablet the pen icon appears on the external monitor screen only. I have gone to the Tablet PC Settings Setup to set up the pen (and hit "Enter" to change the screen for the input) but touching the pen to the Lenovo screen does nothing to set this option.
I feel if the touch screen will work in extended desktop mode, then the pen should and that I'm just missing something.I'm upgrading from the X60 and the workaround that I used for that tablet was to have two presets - one for extended desktop for the external monitor for everyday use and one for the laptop screen only for when I needed to use the tablet function while docked. That was a good workaround (although I would see the BSoD on a fairly regular basis) but I was hoping for more with the X220.
Specs:
Lenovo X220
Windows 7 Professional
HPL2045W External Monitor
Extended desktop

The top text is what it looks like when the screen orientation is anything other than "normal".
The bottom text is what it looks like in normal mode.
It's running windows 7 Pro 64-bit. The touchscreen input also shifts a few pixels up when the orientation flips 180.
I just got two of these (off-lease) and they both have the same issue.

I have an X220 convertable laptop but the mouse cursor is driving me mad. It randomly jumps around the screen; clicks things and generally makes working really hard.
At first i thought i might have a virus although i have Norton installed. I have done virus scans with Norton and McAfee in both regular and safe modes. No problems found.I have diabled and installed drivers; changed mouse settings; reistalled USB drivers; tried a corded mouse and nomouse other than the touchpad. Nothing works.Lenovo support say they think it is a hardware problem; they sent me a new keyboard. i put the new keyboard in (really easy to do). No difference.Lenovo want me to return my machine for evaluation but i use it every day..I make mony on my computer and cannot affort to lose it for the minimum 4 days max 10 days they want it for service. If i cannot work for 4 days I might as well go and buy another computer and throw this one in the bin!

I have this massive problem with my cursor randomly moving and clicking all over the screen without being touched. I hadn't had this problem until after I had my cracked screen replaced with a new one. I've tried unplugging the mouse, disabling the touchpad, etc. and nothing.

X220 tablet (about 2.5 yrs old, out of warranty) was working completely fine last night; this morning, no sound is coming from the laptop, either through speakers or through headphones (audio jack). I am, however, able to get sound through a bluetooth-connected speaker.
I had hoped this was a software issue. Tried uninstalling/installing all sound devices, updating BIOS, updating drivers, system restore to previous date, rebooting a million times, etc. No joy.
When I run the sound troubleshooter, it says that no speaker, headset, or headphone appears to be plugged in. The sound icon has a little red circle/white X next to it. When I try to plug in headphones, nothing happens -- does not seem to detect the event. When I press the mute and volume buttons on the tablet, no response.
Also, under Device Manager -> Sound, video and game controllers, it lists only "Bluetooth Hands-free Audio" and "Intel Display Audio". I don't think either of these is the normal X220 audio driver, is it? What else should be there? I downloaded the Conexant Audio Software from Lenovo's site (this is what came up when I searched for audio drivers for the X220 tablet), and tried to install it, but halfway through, it said the install failed because it couldn't locate the device for the driver.
This sounds like it's a hardware problem -- any way to verify? Also, which piece of hardware exactly? Is it the sound card (that's presumably integrated into the motherboard --> no easy fix)? I'm guessing it's not the speakers themselves since the headphone jack is also affected, but what is my best line of testing at this point to confirm that?

I am having a problem with a ThinkPad Helix and was looking for some advice on the troubleshooting process. The tablet was dropped and it suffered some damage. When I received the tablet I noticed that it still powered on but there was no video. Upon closer inspection, I noticed that the monitor is still displaying video but it is very dim. When I shine a flashlight to the monitor I can see the windows logon screen and the touch panel recognizes me tapping the screen.
The first thing that I tried was replacing the cables that connect the monitor to the motherboard as some of them looked like they had forcefully been removed. This had no effect on the issue as the monitor was still very dim when I powered it on.
I thought that the monitor was the problem and decided to replace the entire screen assembly. I was able to get another monitor that matched the part number of mine and swapped it with the old one. When I turned it on after swapping the monitor I stil the had a very dim screen. If it wasn't the monitor or the cables that connect the monitor to the motherboard then the only thing that was left was the motherboard.
Again, I found a replacement motherboard for the unit and swapped it. When I powered it on I still had the same issue as before, very dim video. It doesn't look like the thinkpad helix has an lcd inverter or I would have tried replacing that first.

About 6 months ago I bought a ThinkPad 230t and the battery usually lasts 5-6 hours. Since a few days ago whenever it is on the battery the CPU starts to overheat with a noticeable fan noise and the battery does not last longer than 2.5 hours. There is a significant high CPU usage when the battery is on (even if the adaptor is connected). The battery does not heat itself at all. Only when I remove the battery the overheating stops. I could not find any program in the task manager which is causing this and I updated all the drivers and BIOS but no change so far on this issue.

I had problems with OneNote win8-appa dn OneNote 2013 long before this happened: sometimes the touch screen function was completely shut dow and unusable but more often the pen/stylus completely stopped working.
I found a workaround for this problem from the forums: installing a wacom driver and using a user-submitted simple batch-file to restart the driver and get rid of the cursor getting stuck in the upper left corner.
Today at school I turned on my Helix, opened OneNote and tried to take notes but the pen did not work and there was no cursor; not even in the top left corner. Next thing I did I uninstalled the wacom driver and tried to reinstall it but all I get is "supported tablet was not found on the system" even though I restarted the system with the pen out of the dock. After that I tried all the current versions one after another and nothing works.
It also seems like there's no other drivers on my system as the pen and touch- properties in control panel yields no information or settings regarding the pen - only touch.

I checked the PDF manual and don't see this condition. The scenario is my Helix is docked to its keyboard, plugged in and asleep. The "i" LED is slow blinking (sleep mode). I open the lid (which is set to wake up the Helix) and the dot on the tablet goes solid red (on) but the "dot" on the keyboard is doing a fast-blink. It's done this about three times over the month I've had my Helix.
I should add that manually putting the Helix to sleep, then waking it back up, clears the flashing LED on the keyboard.

I have the thinkpad helix for two months. The front facing camera works fine, but rear facing camera is very slow: focus slow, and if move the camera a little, picture refreshes very very slow.
I thought this was the problem of driver, so I updated to the latest driver yesterday. However, the problem is still there.
This makes the camera useless.

I have installed a clean Windows 8.1 on the Helix and have several issues.
The first thing I did after installing the system (and critical Windows Updates) was running the Lenovo System Update tool and downloading everything.
Helix turns on by itself after shutting down or putting into sleep. Disabled intel rapid start in BIOS. Cannot alter the “30 day standby mode” in settings because dependency package cannot be installed (issue 1).

Does the Helix's Mini Displayport support audio output?
Since this is not mentioned specifically on the Lenovo Specs Sheet, was wondering if any Helix owners have successfully connected the MDP to HDMI with clear audio?

What's causing this? [URL] .....
My Lenovo Thinkpad X220T emits very strange, high-pitched sounds during the startup of Skype -- even if I mute the speakers. The pattern of the sound is always the same, indicating something that Skype must be doing each time it starts.
This video was filmed with a Samsung Galaxy S, and you might need headphones/good speakers to hear the sound. Despite of quite a lot of noise (the computer fan), there are no other loud sounds to break your hearing with -- so crank up the volume.

I have a ThinkPad X230 Tablet. I tried system restore and safe mode, but none of it works.
After windows loads with the glowing animation, the login screen does not appear. I cannot open a task manager. I don't know if it's a problem with explorer.exe or what.
The explorer.exe crashed when I tried to connect to an external hard drive, and I tried to get task manager to open, but it wouldn't open.
That's when I tried to restart computer, and login screen would not appear. All I have is a black screen with cursor.

I want to get a x200 tablet (7453-AH3) just for programming classes, but wonder whether x200 will run VS2013 with win8.1 well, such as response speed, smooth or not, a lot lags or not, etc.. Also, will OneNote work well on it?
If I put a SSD in, will that make it better? If not, is that possible to upgrade X200 tablet motherboard & CPU to make it better?

X220 Tablet .... After hours of troubleshooting, I finally found the cause of my Windows 7 Pro Shutdown issue.
The Tablet would hang at Shutdown, then BSOD. I systematically removed drivers until I found the cause. The current installed version of the Thinkpad Tablet Button Driver, Version 1.04.0.0 as installed by System Update was the culprit. As soon as I uninstalled that driver, no more issues.

When I put my X220T in tablet mode, the screen moves just enough to move the pointing stick in the middle of the keyboard to cause the cursor to move. I can't rest my hand on the screen without causing the cursor to move all the way accross the screen.
Am I missing a driver that would disable the nub when the screen is turned over it, or is this a design oversight? I've got the latest BIOS.

I just intalled a new disk that is running quite well, except that I cannot run xpmode. I get the warning that I need to alter the bios, but not setting exists on the chip to alter it for virtualization. Why could it run before on the same chip, but no longer. Is there a workaround. Is there a way to copy the settings from the old hard drive? I suspect not, but I am sometimes an optimist.

My function key is always on so that I have to press it when I want it to be off. An example of this would be that I have to hit Fn+Alt+F4 if I want to close a window. I believe this has to do with me downloading a BIOS update for Windows 8 but I cannot find how to disable it.

I have a lenovo Helix on Windows 8.1 x64.
I have created the special 8gb partition. I have installed RapidStart drivers app and enabled RapidStart. At first it works - i put helix to sleep, and i can see after some time that the led stops flashing so the tablet goes to hibernation. However, after lying some time it wakes up again, and stays in sleep mode, and not hibernated mode, and thus, eventually runs out of battery.

When I start my X201 Tablet, I always get a Fan error message.
I used compressed air - then it worked for a couple of days, but not anymore.
When I take of the keyboard, I see that the fan is starting to spin, but suddendly stops right before the error message.
Should I replace the fan, or might it be a problem with the motherboard - and how am I then able to fix it?

I just did a BIOS update the other day. No idea what version it is. When I booted it said it "detection error on HDD...". I have since reset the BIOS options to default, and now it boots to a DOS-like boot screen that shows the ATA HDD0 drive. But selecting it and hitting enter just flashes the screen and nothing happens.
When I attach a USB thumb drive with Linux, it shows up in the options on the DOS-like boot screen, but selecting it won't boot from it.The laptop is now totally uselss and I'm losing days of time and it's a major problem.
