View 2 RepliesSince i bought my lenovo Y510P SLI i got a problem.
When i am watching a movie/youtube clip/playing a game on my logitech pad i got a problem with performance.
After 3 or 4 minutes my movie/game starts to freeze like some kind of energy saver turnes on.
I put my laptop into highest performance via lenovo energy management.
I also checked the settings in windows energy management tool and everything seems to be fine.
I did not have such a problem with my G550 lenovo which i bought 5 years ago.
Currently i have only 128GB SSD inside my laptop and from time to time i'm connecting external drive.
Operating system: Windows 8.1 x64
2 customers complained of very slow boot times 2-5minutes on these machines.
Removal of the Msata 24GB fixed it. I have asked them to check if express cache is installed but seems to be an ongoing problem.
What can lenovo do about this? Will replacement of the Msata drives fix the problem or is there a bios update coming which can remedy this.
For the first week or two it worked fine and everything was going really well. Then about a week or two ago it started acting up. It is freezing programs(firefox, IE, Chrome, explorer, Flash CC, blender, and a few other programs I needed to install for school. It sometimes freezes on startup and I have to hold the power button down to restart it. Sometimes when it restarts it takes 10-15 mins to fully boot up and load up to the login screen.
View 4 Replies View RelatedEvery time I press caps lock, change volume i got a notification pops up that often messes up the window focus. It's particularly annoying when trying to play games. Can I turn this off?
I searched around for other people having the same problem and the one solution I got was to change Hkey_Local_MachineSoftwareWidcommBTConfigGeneral KeyIndication to 0, but that's already set to 0 for me, and I'm still getting notifications. The solution with removing "lockkey.exe" is not working as well. I just don't have program like this.
I tried to update my y510p to windows 8.1 twice now. But when the installation finishes i get a black screen with a cursor. I tried to boot in safe mode to install the right drivers, but it wont let me. It automaticaly boots and restore the previous version of windows.
So I'm wondering if i should take some precautions before i update to win8.1 (Like instaling the win8.1 display drivers?)
Maybe a better question is if I sould at all update to windows 8.1?
The screen is randomly glitching, when i'm watching videos mostly, but also using chrome and sometimes in certain videogames. They are not longer than a second, and appear randomly, mostly with 5 seconds to a few minutes of time between them. They are no more than 200 px of width, some times smaller. I have the feeling that they are getting worse each day. I'm not able right now to update my drivers for the GPU because of my internet, but when i'm able i will.
View 2 Replies View RelatedRestarted my Ideapad last night (following a virus scanner update), and after the restart the screen came back with multicoloured vertical stripes. Fortunately I still have my old desktop monitor in the house, so I plugged it into that and managed to get the screen displaying on there. Having run the Lenovo support tool, it hasn't managed to find any hardware issues. The image below is set so the same image should be displayed on both monitors.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am playing a game or watching a movie in Fullscreen, randomly it minimizes to desktop and I dont know what is causing this issue. I restore the window to Fullscreen again and everything is normal.
Points to note here -
1) It is completely random, happens once in couple of hours.
2) I use my laptop connected to a TV using HDMI.
3) I use USB mouse and keyboard (which have never been an issue with my old laptop)
4) I play Origin and Steam games and it happens with both of them.
Is there a way to detect, what program might be causing this?
Otherwise, my system is completely stable and works great. Its just annoying, suddenly for the game to minimize when you are about to score a goal in FIFA (or the other way round).
Also, I have the AVG Free Antivirus.I will try to dig through its settings and check What can I disable.
I have the Y510P with Windos 8.1, latest graphic drivers. I'm connecting it to my HD TV via HDMI and the image doesn't fit well in my TV, it's a little zoomed in. I've been searching for a solution in all the menus from Intel's HD 4600, nVIDIA's Control Panel, Windows scaling... NOTHING works. I have another laptop and it has an option that scales the image and the TV shows what is supposed to show.
How can I solve that and fit what I see in my laptop's screen in the second screen (TV)?
My laptop: Lenovo Y510p, Intel Quad-Core i7-4700MQ up to 3.4GHz, Intel HD Graphics 4600, nVIDIA GeForce GT 755M 2GB GDDR5, 8GB RAM, 15.6" Full HD, 1TB 5400rpm HDD + 24GB SSD M.2 (cache), Intel Wireless-N 7260, 72Wh
So I use an HDMI setup to connect my laptop to my surround sound, which is also connected to my television. I only use the hdmi for the audio, but no matter what I do, I get this wierd horizontal tearing on my laptop monitor whenever I use it.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have bought ideapad y510p with an already pre installed windows 8 and intel vga card. however, i have found out that the nvidia geforce GT 750M is not installed, so i have downloaded the driver with the latest version R331.65 So, normally i have installed the driver. and now even though that i have the latest drivers i wonder why i still have the 1366x768 as the highest resolution and not the 1920x1080. also to my wonder is why when i connect to the monitor it can have the 1920x1080 and not on the laptop screen.
So How to have the 1920x1080 resolution?
The cursor doesn't even display on screen unless I connect a mouse.
It was working fine then suddenly the problem started. I tried FN + F6 but no point
I tried installing this driver : [URL] .... But that didn't solve the problem
I entered device manager >> view by connection type, and I found "Lenovo Pointing Device" with a yellow triangle on it. I uninstalled it and it disappeared forever............. But the problem is still there. It's as if the entire touchpad cable isn't even connected to the motherboard.................
I have a problem with hdmi output to my TV screen.
I have Y510P (i7-4700MQ CPU @ 2.40GHz, Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600
& NVIDIA GeForce GT 755M, Win 8.1 64-bit(6.3 build 9600), all with latest drivers )
My TV is Panasonic TH-L32B6. When I connect my laptop to TV it shows me awful picture quality and notification that “this is not optimal screen resolution for the primary display. The optimal res. Is 1280x720”. But with 1280x720 it’s still awful. It works fine just with 1024x768 res. I have no such a problem with my other TV LG 47LS570Y. How can i fix picture quality with higher resolution? I tried another OS like Ubuntu and a couple of hdmi cables…(see attachment)

I purchased an external monitor recently so I can extend my Lenovo U410 IdeaPad's display. The monitor connects to my laptop via an HDMI cable. The problem is, nothing from my laptop is displayed on the external monitor.
The external monitor is still left with a black screeen with either the HDMI and Analog symbol flickering back and forth on the top left corner, or a box that shows "Check Signal Cable" with red, green, and blue boxes below.
On Control Panel>Appearance and Personalization>Display>Screen Resolution, I can see that the external monitor is detected: I have the external monitor as Display 2, and I have "Multiple displays:" set at "Extend these displays"I know that the monitor is not broken, because it works as an external monitor for my MAC (via HDMI cable as well) ....
I have recently updated my system and now the silver volume keys and fn+birghtness no longer display. Am running T500 with XP SP3. Have reinstalled the power manager and UtlraNav with no results.
View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen I "restart" my Y500 using windows 8.0, it takes a minimum of 15 minutes. Sometimes, if I have time to wait, it takes more than one hour. 90% of the time, I restart it using the on/off button. No problems at all using the button, but the software takes a VERY long time or won't restart at all--just the green screen with the word "restart."
View 1 Replies View RelatedI purchased the Lenovo Z580 laptop last month. It is a very good laptop, very silent and well built. Coupled with Windows 8 (64 bit), its a very new experience all together, especially the uptime after restart, connectivity etc. Superfast!
I've been traveling around the world offlate and after I was back home recently, uunfortunately, I'm facing a wired problem with the Wifi since then.
Nature of the problem: After restart, sleep, turn PC on:
1/ Wifi shows full signal status at the start screen.
2/ I enter password to login and it takes to W8 start screen. I then goto the desktop mode.
3/ When I launch a browser I can't connect to internet but the wifi status says 'Internet access'. But after few seconds, I see grey wireless symbol (without any signal bar) with a star on the left corner of the wifi symbol (Not connected mode).
4/ The network I connect to is no longer visible. Only 2 networks are detected. One is an open network and the other one is a different network. Usually several networks are within the range when I'm connected to my network.
5/ After 4-5 minutes, everything becomes normal i.e. the wifi adapter connects to the network.
I've tried router/modem power cycle, disable/enable wireless network adapter and they haven't solved the problem yet. Also noticed something in the Wi-Fi Status (wireless adapter settings window) accessed via Control Panel. Speed initially was 39.0Mbps and eventually changes to 72.0Mbps, drops to 65.0Mbps...
I don't have this problem with the other laptop and tablet I own.
It's been a year I've been using Lenovo p500. It works great, but recently the startup has been really slow. it takes around 3-4 minutes sometimes. Is there any way to improvise the performance?
Does "Bios Update" solve the problem??
My lenovo Y510P used to always be at 100% but I have realized it has been decreasing by 1 every day. I have it on Maximum Battery Life with the Energy Management application.
It is currently at 85% and I would have posted this sooner if I had payed attention. I changed it to Optimized Battery Health and it is now dropping, currently at 75%.
I always leave the laptop plugged in because I usually play games on it such as battlefield, dayZ, counter strike, etc.
I've been playing Battlefield 3 for some time on Auto settings (most of them are Ultra) and my FPS were always in the range 65-85. Yesterday morning everything was fine, however at night when I opened the game again I had 10-15 FPS. I haven't changed anything in my laptop settings so I don't know why this is happening.
P.S: I only have 1 GPU (not the SLI version) so I know it's not a loss of power. But my battery settings are set to "Optimized battery health". Does it affect performance ?
I've got Y510p with USB 2.0 not working. By the time it malfunctioned it was under warranty and I sent it in the service center. They have claimed that it has been repaired (USB board has been changed) but it is still not working and my warranty ended like 3 days after I sent it back. Since then (1 month ago) I am returning it to the service center for 3 times (last one was today) and I feel they can't fix it. URL....
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an Y510p laptop and I am not pleased with the hdd performance, so I wanted to add an SSD, but the slot is literally missing:

I bought Lenovo Y510P . and because of just hyper-v feature on win 8.1 pro also i need to upgrade windows. I found product key with a software and after that i open the "add feature to windows 8.1" . And when I choose "i already have product key" and put the product key , it does not accept . and says "this key won't work" .
So what i should do for getting windows 8.1 pro pack ? and why product key does not work ?
Is it possible to overclock the GPU and CPU a lil' bit in my y510p ?? If yes, how much can i boost it up and if it's worth it though...?
View 9 Replies View RelatedAll of a sudden, my Lenovo Ideapad P500 (running Win 8) is having sound issues. The sound will stay on for 5-10 minutes when I start it up or put it to sleep and then wake it up. After that, the sound will just quit working? FYI, the Windows 8 updates that were part of the Microsoft monthly security fixes were installed last week and the problem started today?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a y550 ideapad (gpu gt 130m) and i have a problem which is similar to others: when i play a game, after sometimes, from 5min to more than one hour, the pc crashes (black screen, but with backlight, harddisk still running, sound buffer played again and again, no response from keyboard) and i have to switch off the computer to start it again and everything is ok.
So i have tested my ram and gpu ram, no problem
I test the temperature - log of gpu-z: Ok except one thing, at the very end, just before the crash, the GPU memory clock goes from 799.2 (which is the speed during gaming) to 800.00Mhz and the temperature goes from 66°C to 255°C instantly. So there is the bug, software bug?
I want to manage the speed of the gpu memory (to put it max to 799.2) but there is nothing in the BIOS....
When I recieved my Y510p about 8 months ago, the usb ports worked perfectly fine. Around October they stopped working properly. The only solution which I found to work was doing a system restore. When I did this, an Unrecognized Device in the Device Manager was no longer unrecognized, and was instead replaced by USB xHCL (or something along those lines). However, as soon as i restared my computer again, the ports broke, and the unrecognized device reappeared. Repeating the restore followed by a restart breaks the ports every time.
View 7 Replies View RelatedMy Y510p has been freezing on startup, every startup. It can be completely inoperable for upwards of half an hour before unfreezing. It unfortunately has been occuring since the computer arrived (21 March, this year), so I doubt it has been caused by any software I've added. Given my limited knowledge of computers.

I have a new y510p I just received this week. First thing I did was replace the 1TB HD with my own OCZ Vertex 4 256GB SSD Drive. When I power on the laptop for the first time, it does not find a bootable device (goes through network devices, then says no bootable devices). If I use ctrl-alt-delete to reboot the laptop, it then finds the drive on its own and starts booting into Windows.
I'd like to understand why this does not work on the first boot? I went into the BIOS and saw it says there that no drives are detected. This worries me slightly, as perhaps one day it will decide to no longer recognize the drive after the ctrl-alt-delete?
