Jan 5, 2015My Laptop Dell Inspiron 15R , delete key not working. When I click on any file , The message comes for its deletion "Do you want to delete the item and move to recycle bi?". Continuously messages are coming for deletion. In text while typing, the text goes automatically deleted.

Mar 24, 2010i have a whole ton of free apps in the /Applications folder now. the names are mostly obscure and 'esoteric' (to a windows user) i have a plan to make folders under the Applications folder called eg. Graphics, CD and DVD, Office etc. as thats how is have always worked. is that the way to go to organise myself.

At startup (msconfig) i see a few HP programs that im not sure if i need or not to be starting up. This is what i see: HP MediaSmart, HP Quick Launch Buttons, HP health Check Scheduler, HP Wireless Assistant, GrooveMonitor Utility, Java Platform.
HP/Compaq :: Dv6-1260se & Preinstalled Programs
Sep 27, 2009I recently bought the dv6-1260se, 'Artists Edition' and am so far loving it, except for the whole Windows Vista Issue.
I've had it a whole 3 days and it's already throwing errors. I installed Aion and World of Warcraft, and for one day, WoW could alt-tab fine. Now it gives a green alt-tab box and only shows the start/task bar. I hafta complete restart the entire thing to fix it, it won't even tab back to the game. Also, when I tried to use a bluetooth mouse, it started throwing HID errors. I update the quicklauch buttons like the HP help suggested, but still no luck. I got the bluetooth mouse to work, but discovered it was pretty bleh and it lagged when in games. Windows Vista is up-to-date save for Service Pack 2. The ATI video drivers are also updated from ATI.
I have Windows 7 RC on all the other computers in the house, and had it on my prior Compaq 3 year old beast before the board fried itself for the last time. I've already pre-ordered my Windows 7 for this laptop through HP, but I'm not sure if I can wait till oct. 22.
However, the Artists Edition comes with alot of decent preloaded software. Corel's paintshop pro, painter and something else. Also there's Stardock's MyColors, LoginStudio and I think Object Desktop. Some of these programs have a beta for Win 7, others don't.
However, I don't have registration keys or anything for these programs. I don't think I'll have problems with Corel's stuff (if Win 7 translates the reg keys correctly), but Stardock's stuff will hafta be eventally updated and they need keys for updates.
Apple :: Mouse Binding Programs
Mar 10, 2009I've tried Steermouse, great app when it works. It keeps "disabling" itself every so often. I'm guessing it's a bug that has to do with switching apps. It works when I fire it up again. But is there another program that can allow me to specially keybind certain things to my mouse *AND* disable mouse acceleration? (oh I love you steermouse for removing mouse accel!)

Mar 8, 2009I recently uninstalled VM fusion. Probably not correctly. Being used to a mac all i did was drag and drop the icon to the trash. Then i realized it still was somewhat on the computer. So i manually deleted it folder off the harddrive. However there are 4 files it cant delete because they are in use , and when i right click on a rar file it still says "extract with winrar - windows xp pro 2- vm ware fusion" It's getting annoying.

Dell XPS 15 :: Some Programs Do Not Display Their Windows On QHD Screen
Jan 19, 2014I have a new XPS 15 9530with a Quad HD (3200x1800) screen running Windows 8.1.The Quad HD screen obviously requires some new smarts to display application windows properly because not all applications handle it well. "Beyond Compare" is a severe case in point - it seems that icons in it's windows are displayed very small and text box lines are truncated vertically, so much so that the bottom half (or more) of the text in these lines cannot be read. I'm guessing this is a Dell driver issue because of the newness of these screens. I'm a software developer and use Beyond Compare all the time. In some cases I can't even change the settings because the setting screen in unreadable with this issue.
There are other applications that exhibit the same or similar problem. Visual Studio 2010 has some issues, but the main problem I have with it is that some drop-down boxes are displayed extremely small. At least they're readable if you get close to the screen!the MS Office products I use all the time (Word & Excel) don't show any problems, but I wonder why these are good and "lesser known" apps have problems inadequate testing?
I develop in a dual-screen mode with a Dell U2412M monitor and the "bad" windows on the laptop screen do not change their perspective when I move them across - although during the drag they show as very large windows on the second screen until the whole window is in the second screen and then it shrinks to an "expected" size. It is this behaviour in particular that leads to think it is a driver "bug" that might be causing the window display problem.
HP 15 F039wm Recovery :: How To Recover Programs And Files
Nov 20, 2014I had to do a recovery using F11 as my system would not boot up. It would constantly say it was restartin with he spinning ping pong balls but would not load. Why it crashed is moot at this point.

I run Windows 8.1 and am using a HP15-f039wm.

I saved my files as a backup before continuing with the recovery. As it stands now the thumb drive which has been copied to my desktop has a folder named "System Recovery Files". There is no .exe file that I can locate within.

Specifically my concerns are two:Â
1) I purchased a subscription to Avast and wonder if I can reinstll, not sure where my license key is but could probably contact Avast.Â
2) I downloaded Mozilla's Thunderbird and have emails and contacts from a variety of email accounts and one account in particular I no longer have access to.

The $64,000 question is: can I get these programs working again with what I saved?

I don't know why, but anything I have open- chrome, games, word, windows, periodicly acts as if it is minimized, except I can still see it. If I am on word, I might be typing. Then it happens, and no matter what I do nothing happens unless I click the window again. That means something else, not an application, is opening and closing in the background. The border color changes when this happens. It happens about every minute to five minutes. I think it might be McAfee, but I'm not sure- I can't uninstall it anyways, wont work enough to uninstall or let me delete the files. I did the whole dell scan thing from their website, everything twas fine it said. Sometimes, my computer also fades black and back on, again and again and again- unless I restart it.
