I would like to upgrade the memory on my laptop to 8Gb and the processor to a t9900. On the sony website it says the laptop can max at 2.2ghz and 4gb but the chipset in the laptop can support the processor i want and the 8gb.

May 20, 2009how to open/disassemble my VGN-CS110E laptop but no one had the manuals, etc to how to open it. I have read from several places that the Vaio is like a jigsaw puzzle, and in which case it is. There are always different was of opening different Vaio's. From the "popup" keyboard, to "popup speaker" just to get into the fan. The CS-series is different, you open it as if it were a desktop computer.
First, turn the laptop over so the screen is shut and is on the bottom.
Remove the battery, once removed, there are 2 screws (ignore the 3 black screws), remove the 2 screws.
After this is done, unscrew the screws that is in the casing of the RAM as well as HD. The HD has two screws to be unscrewed, one is hidden thus you have to remove the HD to unscrew it.
In order to disassemble the CS-series, you must unplug a cord that's within the RAM compartment, in doing all of this, slowly lift the underneath piece of the laptop, it should pry away slowly and then you can see the motherboard, fan, etc. You can disassemble the monitor screen from the laptop now as well.
Sony :: Battery Drain On My Vaio F Series Laptop
Apr 10, 2010Several times I charge the laptop to full and turn it off. When I turn it back on moments later, it shows the battery at 75-80% and it always does this.
I call up customer service (only to find out that they are a bunch of retards because they always refer to their "manual") and they say that this is normal. Which I think is total bs, because they specifically state 3-4 hours of battery life

May 13, 2009I've just got my Sony Vaio Z Series laptop and i've noticed when i go into computer and look under the Hard Disk Drives i have a System (S) Drive and it says 1.41GB free of 1.46GB.
Do other Vaio Z Series owners also have this System (S) Drive? Do you know what it is?
Sony :: Vaio Z1 And HDMI Output
May 17, 2010Ive been using a 40 inch HDTV ever since I received my Z about a month ago. I had to move recently, and now when i attempt to use the display it looks very strange, almost as if someone turned the digital vibrance or contrast setting up all the way. The text looks strange, and it is overall unpleasant to look at. I checked all of the settings and everything is the same as before, and tried varying the resolution and color settings. I can't figure it out!
I can take a picture if that would help explain better. I also checked the TV's settings and I do not believe that is the issue.
I also tried reinstalling the NVIDIA drivers from sonys website to no avail.

Feb 10, 2010I have a Sony Vaio FW laptop with a HDMI output, when i had vista i could plugin my hdmi output in to my TV hdmi input and immediatly see my computer display on my TV. As soon as i upgraded to Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit, when i plugin the hdmi cable nothing happens, i am unable to get my tv and laptop to notice each other, Win 7 doesnt seem to notice at all.

The bass is very weak, on the speakers and on the external output aswell.

Sony :: [Vaio VGN-FW11e] Output To External Monitor During POST
Jun 11, 2009I just bought a used but fully working Vaio VGN-FW11e with a cracked screen (got it for a good price). The lcd-panel had been removed but the lid is intact. The cracked screen didn't bother me since I planned to have it permanently hooked up to my projekter using the VGA-output.
The problem is that it doesn't seem to turn on the VGA-out before Windows has loaded, i.e. it is impossible to see the POST/loading of BIOS. When trying to restore Windows to its factory settings (since the old owner had left all his files and folders all over the place) using the Vaio Recovery Center something went wrong and now I'm left with a dead system.
When turning the computer on I can hear and see what seems like a proper POST, i.e. the hard drive spinning, the dvd drive spinning etc. But a few seconds after start, when it's supposed to start loading Windows it just stay still, most likely with some kind of error message.
I desperately need to be able to activate the VGA out during BIOS to be able to reinstall Windows. According to Sony this is not possible. But it sound almost silly since every other laptop I have had has been able to output a picture to VGA directly during POST. Is there some way since the obvious Fn-F7 doesn't work?

Apr 22, 2009Do Vaio Z Series laptop owners use their laptop as their main primary computer or a secondary computer? Do Vaio Z series owners also have a desktop pc as their primary computer and use their Vaio Z Series as a secondary computer? Or is your Vaio Z Series laptop your one and only computer that you always use? Is it comfortable using the 13 inch screen for long periods of time?
Reason i ask is some people have more then one computer and some people just have one.
I'm just wondering if the Vaio Z Series laptop is a good choice as a main computer since it's got good specs and it's nicely portable but will the 13 inch screen be ok to use for long periods even at the higher 1600 x 900 resolution?

The reason I'm asking is because I'm seriously thinking of selling my VAIO Z690 & just buying the base Sony VAIO Z (VPCZ112GX/S). I may just be able to afford that base model & the icing on the cake will definitely be the UJ-232A drive being able to fit into the (new) VAIO Z series & work.
HP 2000 Display :: Laptop Not Transmitting Video From VGA Output
Dec 17, 2014Have used my HP 2000 laptop many times to connect to a big screen TV using the VGA output jack and hook it to the VGA input of my big screen. Â Now, for some reason, there is no video output to the big screen, I have tried 3 different cords (VGA to VGA) and get nothing on two, and on the third I get a video transfer but it blinks off and on both on the monitor of the laptop and my big screen with only about 1/2 of a picture showing on both. Â When it did this, I tried repositioning the output jack on the computer output and it changed the picture somewhat, but could never get it to work.

Sony :: VAIO SZ320P Laptop
May 4, 2009I've had this laptop for a little less than 4 years. No real problems to report. It runs on Dual core processor and Windows XP SP3. For awhile it used to make a lot of noise and it got hot. The noise issue would come and go, figured it was just the processor.
Now all of the sudden the noise stopped. Got speedfan to see what temp was and my core 1 is about 87C. (i can post more temps later, but currently am at work). Now i don't know if i should worry and purchase a fan? or just get an external cooling fan since i plan on getting new computer in about a year.
Now if the problem is the fan, does it matter what fan i purchase or can it be generic. I guess what i need to know if this is common for sz320p's or if i should worry. Laptop still runs fine, never shuts off for any random reason (except for snood), Loads programs fine, and i never get a blue screen.

Dec 10, 2009I have a Sony Vaio Laptop. Its warranty ended 7th December. Phoned them to get it picked up and now they have it so any work should be covered under warranty.
There is a particle under the screen. I took a picture of it and emailed it to Sony who diagnosed it as dead pixels. They said they would repair it for free under warranty.
Now that they have the laptop they say there is a particle under the screen. They sent me a picture of it and the photo looks identical to what I sent them earlier which they diagnosed dead pixels.
Now they are saying it was accidental damage by me and want to charge to replace the screen (same price as I paid for the laptop).
I think that this is ridiculous and that they should repair it under warranty. They will not accept these two arguments:
1. If I damaged it then I would have had to have opened the screen which there should be evidence of.
2. If the particle got in some other way through a gap then it is a manufacturing flaw because there should be no way of a particle getting in there.

Mar 22, 2010Am planning to get a sony laptop for me. The design simply rocks I am getting mixed reviews about cw and E series. But i made up my mind to get one.
My budget is aroung 40000rupees. Thats around 800$. So suggest me a better one between these two for occasional moderate and less(mosltly) demanding games. I dont care whether its 14 or 15 inch.
Am looking at lower end versions of both the models.
Only difference is CW uses Nvidia Geforce 310 and the E series uses some Radeon 5000 series one. CW has 14 inch screen whereas E series has a 15.5 inch screen. In the models which i am looking at both have matte finish and both has WXGA:1366 x 768 VAIO Display.
which one should i go for. whether the screen quality will be on par to Inspiron one atleast? ( I dont need HD).

The Vaio F Series only has 330M Nvidia Graphics Card with i7QM and up to 8GB of Ram and up to 256GB SSD.
The E Series has ATI 5650 (a less powerful version, reduced clock speed) combined with a i5 520M with up to 6Gb of Ram and up to 500GB of HDD ? Why can i not choose SSD ?
Sony :: Fan Noise For Vaio Z820db Laptop
Mar 5, 2010I have 13 inch sony Z 820db laptop not very long ago, for some reason the fan makes quite a bit of noise compare to other models that i own(sony ns190d laptop). Is this suppose to be normal for this laptop? Does anyone else who has this laptop feels the fan noise for this laptop is sufficiently higher compare to other laptops? I can really feel the air pumping out when i place my hands near the ventilation and i only use the laptop for surfing on the net. no heavy application running what so ever. Also have a question about the battery life. They said the standard battery life could last up to 5.5 hours, but mines only last 3 and half hours even just surfing on net.

Feb 26, 2010I have a Sony Vaio VGN-FS93S laptop. It is about 4-5 years old. I bought it in Thailand so I think it is a Sony Asian region model.
I installed Windows 7 on it today without any problems. It runs fine, but I am having some driver problems as expected. Even though there are a couple of red lights in the Device Manager, all my hardware is working fine except for the wireless network card. I don’t mind the errors in the Device Manager as long as everything works somehow. But I also can’t get the function keys working on the laptop, which I would like to have working too.
I called Sony in Thailand and they said the laptop is too old so Sony won’t be supporting it with new drivers for Windows 7.
Are there any Windows 7 drivers from other Vaio models which might be compatible with my laptop?
