The updated FW590's are now up on sonystyle. I don't see anything new besides Win 7 and some different colors. There is a new "nebula" design with a graphic on the back, but that doesn't really appeal to me.
new Vaio Z directly from Japanese SonyStyle. But I still have few questions about CTO:
1. Why can't I choose both WiMax and WWAN at the same time? Z comes with Intel 6250 card and dedicated 3G modem in Europe, is Japanese version different in this regard? Will it have USB in miniPCI-E slot for 6200 card if ordered without WiMax but with 3G?
2. I can't find pictures showing all keyboards available... I'm interested in backlight version with keys layout as close to US as possible.
I recently ordered a Vaio FW-490 CTO with an estimated ship date of 9/16, but the order has been processing since the day I ordered it. Also, today I recieved an email:
"We regret to inform you that all or part of your Sony Style order SW********* has been delayed.
In order to serve you better in the future, our warehouse system was shutdown tonight. Regrettably, we encountered problems with your order that prevented your order from being fulfilled in time for the shutdown. Unfortunately, we will be unable to ship your order until 9/18/2009."
Is it normal for it to be in processing this long, or should I call them to see the the "problems with my order" are?
Been having mini wars in my mind pitting HP Envy 15 vs MacBook Pro vs Sony Z. Right now Sony Z's got the edge and my interest, and so these questions:
1. I'm interested in getting the Z with the 512GB SSD. Is ordering this configuration only possible via Sony's site?
At first I thought that to be the case, but then I saw in the several hundred page Sony Z thread, links to Jr.com and Amazon.com where they have the Z on sale in various configurations, but no 512GB SSD .....
is the sony FW35V(customizable) on the sony style uk site a 1920x1080 a dual lamp LCD? it says 16.4" H1080 WXGA++ (1920 x 1080) Widescreen X-black LCD screen with built-in "Motion Eye" Digital Camera, but is it a 1920x1080 dual lamp, multiple lamp(how many?) orr single lamp? make sure its the fw35v not the fw35x. the fw35v is the one that costs £60 to upgrade the screen. the fw35x says HD1080 (1920x1080) X-black LCD with multiple lamp, which im guessing is a dual lamp LCD right? also is the Dual lamp worth it for £60? what does it do? give brighter?, sharper?, more deep and rich colours? or something else?
I'm having a problem to install windows 7 pro on my Lenovo t440s ( that came with windows 8 ) using a memory stick.I went to the windows 7 installation menu and formatted the Windows 8 partition, so now I have :
Disk 0 Partition 1: WINRE_DRV 1GB OEM Disk 0 Partition 2 : System_DRV 260MB System Disk 0 Partition 3 128MB MSR Disk 0 Unnallocated Space 225GB ( it was the old windows 8 partition ) Disk 0 Partition 4: Lenovo_Recory 12.1GB OEMÂ
However, when i try to use the free space to install the windows 7 i get this error :" Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk is of the GPT partitions style. "Â
I tried to bot using Legacy Boot Only and after using UEFI/Legacy Boot and nothing changed, I'm still receiving the same error.I read that I have to select each of the partitions on the drive, and select Delete. Then the drive will show a single area of unallocated space that I should use to install windows.there is any problem in delete all my partitions of Lenovo T440s? Can I delete the OEM partitions?
Which series is better? The B series is for business. This series is only 5.9lbs with 15.4'. On the other hand, the CW series is around 5.5 lbs and it is only 14'. What do you think? Have you ever try B series? 15.4' is pretty good for movie.
I really enjoy the big screen, large HD and fast CPU. And what appears to be a Sony exclusive, a R/W Blu-Ray drive. I watched eagerly at the AW series, thinking that I might pull the trigger on the 'next' laptop in this series.
But as you know, it never came...
So I took a look at the F series at some of the local computer shops (e.g. Fry's and Micro Center)
What does that look like to you? We're thinking an updated Vaio P given that stretched form factor. The previously unheard of Vaio model PCG-11111L is definitely a Sony of some sort complete with CDMA850 and CDMA1900 courtesy of Qualcomm's Gobi silicon .....
Recently I bought the NW series Vaio, the VGN-NW265F to be exact. I hooked up the laptop to my TV via HDMI cable in order to watch
a blu-ray movie and I can notice right away that the quality of the image is what is in question here. I know that PS3 and the blu ray movies playing in
why the CW is no longer available? my dell broke over christmas and I was hoping to get this computer before my school break is over at the end of january...
I have a Sony Vaio VGN-FZ27G notebook to be exact and been having a few issues of late, and wondering if there are some clever computer buffs out there to help me solve my dilema.
Firstly I run Vista on 32bit with service pack 1 and just as a side note formated not that long ago.
The main problem is instaling software. Here's when it gets a bit tempremental. Basically it doesn't want to do it, instal software that is. And before you all say "yeah that's an easy one, just run it as Administrator!!" no been there done that and yes it is set as me being administrator etc.
My question, is there a simple oversite or a setting in computer management or even firmware or drivers that need to be definately looked at? I mean it wont even load software at times from the DVD drive let alone from the hard drive!(It wasn't like that before, I know it can do it)
I'm seriously considering the NW series and I've read a lot of the good comments/reviews.
1) What is the method behind the model numbers? It seems every site I visit has NW100's, 200's, and 300's. Is there an easy way to translate that into the specs? Is the 300 sub-series any newer or "better" than the 100 and 200 sub-series? Glancing at the specs it seems very arbitrary and I want to make sure I'm not missing something.
2) Is now a good time to buy the NW series? From my research it appears the NW series was revealed early last summer. Do we expect any kind of facelift or "second gen" to come out soon? Any anticipated sales? I'm in no hurry to buy.
3) Is the BD combo worth it if you don't watch movies? I was just wondering if it might be good for laptop resale value in the future, or if software is going to start being sold on BD instead of DVD.
4) Which of the available processors for the NW series is the "best?" Is it worth the money?
5) Is there anything else I should consider before buying an NW? In summary, I'll be using this for internet/itunes/docs and I'm eying the pre-packaged configs in the $650-750 range.
i am interested in buying new cw series notebook...

I'm looking at purchasing a Sony Vaio soon, but I'm having trouble deciding between these two models.
Sony Vaio VPC-EB17FX/B $969: (This version is not available on SonyStyle, it is on Amazon. The main difference is the 1920-1080 screen on an E Series.)
