Mar 10, 2010new Vaio Z directly from Japanese SonyStyle. But I still have few questions about CTO:
1. Why can't I choose both WiMax and WWAN at the same time? Z comes with Intel 6250 card and dedicated 3G modem in Europe, is Japanese version different in this regard? Will it have USB in miniPCI-E slot for 6200 card if ordered without WiMax but with 3G?
2. I can't find pictures showing all keyboards available... I'm interested in backlight version with keys layout as close to US as possible.
Sony :: Style Order Processing
Sep 12, 2009I recently ordered a Vaio FW-490 CTO with an estimated ship date of 9/16, but the order has been processing since the day I ordered it. Also, today I recieved an email:
"We regret to inform you that all or part of your Sony Style order SW********* has been delayed.
In order to serve you better in the future, our warehouse system was shutdown tonight. Regrettably, we encountered problems with your order that prevented your order from being fulfilled in time for the shutdown. Unfortunately, we will be unable to ship your order until 9/18/2009."
Is it normal for it to be in processing this long, or should I call them to see the the "problems with my order" are?

Lenovo P/Y/Z Series :: Y510P - Removed Everything From PC While Installing Ubuntu
Feb 8, 2014I was installing ubuntu14.04 alongside windows 8 on my Y510P . In the option where it asks whether to install a fresh copy or install it alongside, i accidentally selected install a fresh copy and clicked on next.
After realizing my mistake, I cancelled the installation.
But after that my pc wont boot.Everything was gone from my hard disk below is the screenshot from disk manager.

it says 16.4" H1080 WXGA++ (1920 x 1080) Widescreen X-black LCD screen with built-in "Motion Eye" Digital Camera, but is it a 1920x1080 dual lamp, multiple lamp(how many?) orr single lamp? make sure its the fw35v not the fw35x. the fw35v is the one that costs £60 to upgrade the screen. the fw35x says HD1080 (1920x1080) X-black LCD with multiple lamp, which im guessing is a dual lamp LCD right? also is the Dual lamp worth it for £60?
what does it do? give brighter?, sharper?, more deep and rich colours? or something else?

Acer :: I Have Removed CD Tray And Now Laptop Will Not Work
Oct 4, 2008My laptop fell off a table whilst the disk tray was open and jammed the disk tray shut.
It didn't damage the laptop at all, just made a whirring noise every time I turned it on and off because there was a CD still in there (been like that for a few months). However, today the tray opened a little and so I pulled it right out. I know enough about computers to know that I haven't damaged anything else, just removed the tray.
Now my laptop won't turn on, and even the charging light doesn't come on. A piece of plastic ribbon/connector that was attached to the tray is loose - could it be that?

May 5, 2014Since the newer models from HP comes with windows 8, a friend of mine wanted me to install windows 7 instaid. Said and done. Almost. When I was done and the OS was configuring it stated that the hardware is not compatible with this version of windows.Since I use my computer, I don't like the original windows you get from the branded computers, all the programs that are forced on to you are a pain. Therefor, as usual, I removed every single trace of the original. Including the recovery disc.

How in the world of the living am I suppose to fix her computer, that now serves as nothing else than a bookstand? Apparently you no longer get a product key on a sticker on the back of your computer anymore.
I was going to install w7 with a legit key, no piracy.

HP G60 126NR :: Laptop Will Not Boot Unless CMOS Battery Removed
May 18, 2009I have a HP G60-126NR laptop. One day, it was stone cold when I press power button. I discharged the mothboard. I then installed a new CMOS battery . I am using the power adapter to power unit. When I press the power button , I get nothing toally dead, except to show the power connection light. If I remove the CMOS battery, then discharge the motherboard again, then plug in , and the laptop powers up without touching power button, and goes into setup screen to enter time. After entering time , it boots into Windows without issue. Windows SFC scan shows no error. If I shut down, not sleep, the laptop is dead again unless I discharge motherboard and start from square one. Also, I want to say that while Windows is running, if I close the lid to put to sleep, you can see that the screen is still active despite changing "what happens when I close lid". My diagnostics tells me it needs a new motherboard. PS: I did flash the BIOS off of HP Website thinking it would resolve my issue, but it did not ....

It worked fine for one day, then again the next day it was not booting. Then I tried removing the battery and kept the adapter on and it worked. Now is the battery faulty? Do I have to change that, or could it be some other issue?

Apr 12, 2010I've got a Dell Inspiron 1501 Laptop. Â When I switch it on it produces the most deafening series of beeps. Â The Dell Diagnostics CD says:
Error Code 2C00:041D Stuck Key Detected
Keyboard is Continuously transmitting a scan code 31h
It would appear that the left cursor key is stuck, as the only way I can get into windows (using an external keyboard) is to type my password backwards! instead of 'password' I type 'drowssap' The cursor is constantly moving left so by typing the password backwards it comes out the right way round. I took the cover off and disconnected & removed the keyboard and trackpad. Â But the problem persists: it seems this key is constantly transmitting, even without the keyboard!!
I've cleared the CMOS, left it unplugged without power, battery, CMOS Battery for 3 days. Â I've flashed the BIOS, changed the Memory. Â Still the same problem. Â Keyboard has been disconnected all this time, but getting this constant Key signal.Where is it coming from if the keyboard is disconnected?
Dell Latitude E6640 :: Plastic Spacer In SmartCard Slot Cannot Be Removed?
Nov 19, 2014I have a Latitude E6640 and wish to use the SmartCard slot. Unfortunately there is a plastic spacer in this slot that will not come out. My software sees the firmware on the laptop so I know the hardware for this is present. How is this plastic spacer removed? Removal of the HD for better leverage is no support. It appears that the top cover over the keyboard would have to be removed but that makes no sense. If that is the case how is this done?

When I remove the ac power external internet is lost.  The wireless connection still appears to be up but there is no traffic. I cannot  ping anything when this occurs.

The only  way to get this  up and  running  again is toÂ

1. insert ac power
2. restart  the dhcp client service (sometimes have to do this more than once).  The service hasn't stopped, but for some reason this gets it up and  running.

I have also tried  disabling the  "allow computer to turn off this device to save power".  But this did not work....

Jan 6, 2014I'm having a problem to install windows 7 pro on my Lenovo t440s ( that came with windows 8 ) using a memory stick.I went to the windows 7 installation menu and formatted the Windows 8 partition, so now I have :
Disk 0 Partition 1: WINRE_DRVÂ 1GBÂ OEM
Disk 0 Partition 2 : System_DRVÂ 260MBÂ System
Disk 0 Partition 3Â 128MBÂ MSR
Disk 0 Unnallocated Space 225GB ( it was the old windows 8 partition )
Disk 0 Partition 4: Lenovo_Recory 12.1GB OEMÂ
However, when i try to use the free space to install the windows 7 i get this error :" Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk is of the GPT partitions style. "Â
I tried to bot using Legacy Boot Only and after using UEFI/Legacy Boot and nothing changed, I'm still receiving the same error.I read that I have to select each of the partitions on the drive, and select Delete. Then the drive will show a single area of unallocated space that I should use to install windows.there is any problem in delete all my partitions of Lenovo T440s? Can I delete the OEM partitions?
Dell Studio 1749 :: Stop Charging - Laptop Won't Power Up With Battery Removed
Mar 8, 2010Last Friday i received my new Studio 1749 with i3. As told by the documentation I put in the battery, put the power cable in the ac-adapter, pluged the AC-cable into the laptop and then pluged the ac-adapter into the wall outlet. I booted the laptop and once I was on the windows desktop had a look at the battery symbol. It showed that the laptop was connected to external power and that the battery was being charged.
I wen't away from the laptop to let it charge the battery for 12 hours as told by the documentation. After two hours i came back to have a look at the laptop and it was off. Curious I turned it on again. After booting up it showed the battery at 60% and the laptop running from battery. Yet the ac-adapter was connected to the laptop. I hadn't changed anything. I pluged the adapter cable in and out, but it wouldn't recognize that the was external power available. Turning the laptop off an on again didn't work either.
Now I feared for the battery. My guess is that at one point it started to run on battery power even though it was not charged for 12 hours. Then when the battery was depleted the laptop shut down. This might have permanently damaged the battery!
I guess as soon as the laptop was off the ac-adapter charged the battery again, and when I came in it was just at 60%.
So I turned it off removed the ac-adapter, removed the battery, put the battery back into the laptop pluged the ac-adapter back in and booted up again. Now it showed it was running from external power again. All fine. It charged the battery as well. Actually it charged the battery up to 99% and then out of nowhere the battery symbol changed and it was running from battery AGAIN! Even though it was still connected to the ac-adapter. This happens all the time. It is reproducable.
So I thought something might be wrong with the ac-adapter.
I powered down the laptop and removed the battery. Now with only the ac-adapter connected ,I tried to start the laptop. The control lights above the keyboard came on for 2 or 3 seconds and then the laptop turned off again. Trying to hit the power button again after that didn't give another reaction.
Conclusion: The laptop won't run just on external power with no battery in the battery bay.
I put in the battery again. AC-adapter still connected. Hit power. Laptop starts to boot. Then while booting I removed the battery. Laptop keeps on booting - finishes booting - runs nice and well at full speed not missing the battery - FOREVER.
So it won't boot with the battery removed, but it will run without it flawlessly??? Strange isn't it?
Next test: I put in the battery again while the laptop is running from mains. And now it charges the battery again until the point... you already know... it "forgets" that it is connected to the ac-adapter and starts running on battery power. So now I boldly removed the battery while the laptop was running. After all it was still connected to mains/ac-power.
Dell Latitude E7240 :: Bluetooth Tray Icon Removed When Adapter Turned Off
Feb 17, 2014When one turns off the Bluetooth adapter from the tray icon, the tray icon disappears. In order to turn the BT adapter back on, it appears one must go to the Device Manager to re-enable the BT adapter. This is inconvenient and not awfully intuitive for a usual business end-user. In the past the BT icon in the tray would remain, but turn color to indicate it's off. And the end user could right-click it and turn it back on when needed.
Currently it appears, turning off the BT adapter, actually disables it and it "disappears". Is there a way to simply turn the adapter off and more importantly back on without having users get into the device manager from their standard user accounts?
E7240 with Dell 1601 WiFi/BT adapter in use on Win7/64 Ult.
