I've been forgetting my curiosity about this thing, but it was just now that I remembered--what does the system actually do, aside from the strategically placed rubber stoppers beneath the laptop body?
also concerning the HDD. I don't know about you guys, but I have a "warranty void if removed" sticker over one of two screw holes in the HDD compartment..will that really void the warranty if ever it got ruined? I'm in the hopes of upgrading my hard drive..
the acer driver i dwnloaded from acer europe still freezes and acer is to lazy to fix that i guess im going to get my drivers from laptop2go, but do they void your warrenty like dox's?
I am planning on buying a Studio XPS 1640 when the prices come down, hopefully run a little cooler temp wise, and maybe a different vid card option (doubtful) later this year.
I was browsing Gizmodo.com today and they had an article about someone who laser etched the world maps from Super Mario Land for the Gameboy on their Eee PC. I thought that was very cool! I was wondering about doing that to a laptop when I buy a new one, to personalize it and make it my own.
I have found a website that does it, Etchstar.com and I saw a few designs that I found interesting. I was wondering if this would void my warranty if I bought a Studio XPS 1640 like I am planning. I personally don't think it would, since it would be cosmetic and wouldn't damage the lid of the LCD screen. Any thoughts?
Also, can anyone recommend a specific site that lets me upload my own image to have it etched on the laptop? Or maybe an actual store that I can bring it to?
one sticker...ok two stickers....it becomes catch-eye attractive! three...it looks to a xmas tree! for stickers.....it is not a laptot, it is a panini album!
So, am i allowed to put off the stickers (intel, vista, nvidia,bluetooth..etc) without lose my warranty at dell?
I know HP will tell you that it does. But if I had a problem with my computer and had to send it in to be fixed, if I switched it back to the OEM keyboard before sending it in, would they have anyway of knowing that I've been tickering with the keyboard?
Hopefully once people confirm that the HDX 18 aftermarket keyboard will work on the DV8, I'll jump the gun and order one. I really want a backlit keyboard.
My laptop fell off a table whilst the disk tray was open and jammed the disk tray shut.
It didn't damage the laptop at all, just made a whirring noise every time I turned it on and off because there was a CD still in there (been like that for a few months). However, today the tray opened a little and so I pulled it right out. I know enough about computers to know that I haven't damaged anything else, just removed the tray.
Now my laptop won't turn on, and even the charging light doesn't come on. A piece of plastic ribbon/connector that was attached to the tray is loose - could it be that?
Bought an HP Pavilion DV7-2170US a few weeks ago. I plan on doing a couple things to it and am wondering how this would affect the HP warranty:
1) Leaving Vista SP1 on it's own partition and installing the HP Windows 7 upgrade on it's own partition to see which I like better?
2) Going to rid the computer of the needless HP and others bloatware, but have read back and forth whether this will nullify the warranty if I have to send it back to HP?
Just noticed that my scartch and dent E6500 doesn't have a sticker. I was going to create a bootable XP disk and apparently I need that COA number to do so
i was getting fed up with all the naff stickers on the fw....(the intel ones and the other ones) i decided to get rid off them only to be left with sticker residue..
Although Dell's website claims the Studio 1537 with Penryn-M 1066 MHz FSB processors are centrino 2, why didn't they include the Centrino 2 Inside sticker on the laptop? I recall that they need to be officially certified by Intel in order to get the sticker, so what is non-compliant in the studio 15 centrino 2?
Whats the best cheap/free way to remove all that glue from removing the small xp sticker? I tryed soap and water and it got most of it off, but still sticky
I have a Sony FW and just pulled the 10 stickers placed on it and one of them left a nasty sticky residue that is accumalating dirt. Is there anyway to remove this
My HP DV4t hard seemed to get pretty warm under the left side, so I decided to check out the hard drive. To my surprise, the hard drive was covered by a giant black label/sticker that peeled off. Should I have left it on? I have never seen this before. The entire face of the hard drive was covered.
I just recently placed an order for a Studio 1737 (replacing an Inspiron E1705). It comes with a 1 year warranty.
I'm debating whether it's worth spending $200+ to upgrade to a Dell 3 year warranty or should I get a 3 year Square Trade Warranty for less than $150 (I can get one for around $120 after a coupon)?
This sticker (the one saying "regulatory information...." in 50 languages) would NOT come off by trying to pick at the corners. It was leaving the sticky part on.
When I pulled at the "tab" built into the sticker, I got that off but it left the whole rectangle sticky part on the laptop. In other words, the whole printed part of the sticker came off leaving all the clear sticky material on the palm rest still.
I kept picking at the corners trying to grab them but no luck.
What finally worked was sliding my fingers while pushing on the surface of the palmrest, upward, into the bottom of the sticker. In other words, press your finger on the plastic of the laptop just below the sticky stuff left behind. Keep sliding your finger while pushing on the plastic INTO the bottom line of the sticky part. It will eventually start to roll up. Do this all along the bottom edge of the sticky part and eventually you can grab the "rolled up edge" and pull at it. It should then pull off in one piece. There will be little tiny sticky marks left on the plastic but they come right up when you place the sticky rectangle piece down onto it and pull fast up.
I bought a Z2 VAIO a while back, and curiously my Z26 didn't come with the VAIO spec sticker on the palm rest. Now, I know that you would be going 'why would you want that?'
(since I read that people usually take those off because they look horrendous), but would it indicate something iffy with my Z26? I bought this from a Sony Style store
my new custom HP DV6T will be in the mail soon, and I would like to know what programs I can remove... The ones I plan on removing are already crossed out... What about the three in the blue box, can those go? I would like to keep MS Works, Adobe, and IE,
I've just bought a Dell Studio 1535 notebook, and when i'm installed windows vista, i deleted and formatted the media direct partition (don't knew what is it).
How can i reinstall dell media direct? I need it, but I don't get a cd or dvd with media direct... Can anyone help me? Where can i find this cd or dvd image?
