Just got my new FW CTO in the mail today and am loving it. I've spent some time downloading Windows Updates (I ordered Vista Business 64 with Fresh Start) and have been attempting to see if there are updated drivers for the HD 4650 1GB card that I have.
The version I have right now is: 8.583.2-090302a-076759C-Sony
Using Catalyst's "Update Driver" link (essentially a link to AMD's website) I was surprised to not see ANY Mobility HD 3000 or 4000 series drivers at all. Are there newer drivers than the ones that shipped with my laptop? If so, where can I download them?
Also, is it really very important to partition your drives?
Lastly, any chance that ArmaII will run on this?
Core 2 Duo P8700 2.53GHz
4 GB RAM
HD4650 1 GB (with GDDR3 according to GPUZ)
320GB 7200 RPM
i bought HP Pavilion dv6-1390ev laptop with Graghic ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650 1024 MB it comes with windows 7 home prem but i need a driver for windows xp pro i didnt find that driver from ATI web site even on the net and all other drivers for it to windows xp
I've got HP dv7-2043cl laptop. I want to find out what max GPU temp do you guys get, when you put stress on the graphics card. I am interested only in DV7-2xxx series with Ati Mobility 4650. Mine is around 46-48 when idle. Temp goes up to 70-74 in around three minutes when I run the Fur Mark stability test (1600x900, MSAA 8x, post processing and xtreme burning turned on). Clocks are at stock frequencies.
I wouldn't care about the temperature (it is not actually that high), but I have a problem. The computer just turns off when I play some games. For instance, if I play Fallout 3 at ultra settings (1600x900, 8x msaa, hdr), the computer powers off after a couple of minutes. Same thing with Crysis Warhead at high setting (1280x720, no msaa), even Half-Life 2 at max settings! When I lower the resolution in Fallout 3 to 1280x720 and MSAA to 4x, everything seems to be fine. Same thing with Half-Life 2. No similar luck with Crysis though. Looks like Crysis utilizes every single bit out of the GPU in any case.
So at first I was confused but now I understand. First official, completely top to bottom support for all mobility cards (in the specified range of course) will come out with 10.3. What they didn't say that SOME mobility cards will be already supported with 10.2 and our " Dell (Studio XPS 16 Mobility Radeon HD 4670)" is on that list.
This was posted in another thread, but this wasn't the focus. They also have beta 10.3s...but I thought it was neat that official 10.2 WHQL certified drivers supported our card ....
I have an HP dv6-1154TX notebook which has a mobility radeon 4650 graphics card. I read in a thread in this forum that you can overclock the GPU in the new version 9 catalyst drivers. When I go to the AMD site, there is no HD4650 under mobility radeon driver list.
Actually there are no HD series cards at all, only the older x1900, etc.. So do the HD series mobility radeons use the normal radeon drivers?
This one has a newer CCC and display driver than the last. Download is up at: ftp://ftp.dell.com/video/R258233.exe
Display driver is only slightly newer. 8.683.2.1 is the version number. Originally released for "Studio Laptop - 1458" with Radeon 5430 and 5450 graphics. Supports:

I just bought a new DV7T 2000 and would like to replace the hard drive that came with the computer with a new one. I am researching about putting XP on it and looking for the necessary drivers prior to the installation. I need help locating the graphic card driver, it's the brand new ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4530 512MB. I was looking all over the web and there was no info about it. The ATI site doesn't provide drivers anymore.
I lucked out on my exchange and ended up being given a Studio 1640 instead of an XPS M1530, I would appreciate a link to the current best driver as far as performance goes for the aforementioned card
I've decided to try and play some games on it, only to find out I have some serious problems with it..
I've tried two different games, and the result is the same in both - the computer will hang about 1 minute after launching the game and only hard shutdown is possible (holding the power button)..
After doing a little analysis of the memory dump, I found out the graphics driver is the one to blame.................................

how I could get the latest ATI Mobility Radeon 4650 drivers? I tried the official HP site, however whenever I clicked the download link it doesn't connect (nothing happens and then it times out). Any direct links? I have Windows 7 64bit Home Premium.
I admit that one should take this with a grain of salt but still, the fact remains that an upgrade path now exists for the previously-tricky 5920G, and possibly for ALL Acer MXM models!
I'm new to this site and I'm quite surprised at the vastness of 'online' knowledge and happy to have learnt so much from the other threads ! Thanks ! But, I couldnt find any info on the new ATI 5000 series notebook GPU's in the Indian context. So The DELL Studio series now comes with the HD 5470, which according to tha GPU benchmark isn't good enough for gaming. (The studio 17 here still carries the 4670, but, the better 5650 in UK) . http://www.notebookcheck.net/Compute...s.13849.0.html A studio 15 core i5-540M(2.53Ghz,4 Thread, turbo boost to 3.06 GHz, 3MB cache), 4GB 1333MHz DDR3, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470, 320GB 7200rpm, 1080p LED Full-HD dispaly, backlit keyboard & 1 year CCADP costs INR 59,000 (excluding only delivery) Should I go for it or wait for them to upgrade the studio 17 to the better 5650 graphics ? (portability isn't an issue for me so the 17 is fine too ). IMO the price is too high. But I would like to know the opinion of you folk ! Are there any better alternatives(I doubt !)................
I wanted to know if anyone has successfully done it or if it's even possible to do on this laptop. Sorry if this is a duplicate thread but sorting through 498 pages of information proved to be a bit daunting. I was looking into a bit and it supposedly possible to do via rivatuna but I figured I'd ask around before fiddling with it myself.
When I try to price a Studio 14 on the Dell.com website, I get the following error when I match the, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4530 512MB, with an i7 processor (i.e. i7-720QM).
"The Video Card is not compatible with the Quad Core Processor selected, please update one of the selections."
I've tried google-ing this but nothing has turned up.
My notebook is a HP Pavilion dv6-1220sb with a ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4530 graphics card. I am running Windows 7 and I am trying to install the drivers.
Out of the box Windows 7 detecs the graphics card as: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4500 Series (Microsoft Corporation WDDM 1.1)
This are the hardware IDs: PCIVEN_1002&DEV_9553&SUBSYS_3628103C&REV_00 PCIVEN_1002&DEV_9553&SUBSYS_3628103C PCIVEN_1002&DEV_9553&CC_030000 PCIVEN_1002&DEV_9553&CC_0300
I have modified the .inf files by adding this line: "ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4530" = ati2mtag_M9x, PCIVEN_1002&DEV_9553 "ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4530" = ati2mtag_M9x, PCIVEN_1002&DEV_9553&SUBSYS_3628103C
When I run the installer it finishes very quickly and no software is installed and there are no error warnings.
In the interest of maximum (safe) performance, I will test both generic ATI drivers and official Dell drivers with real-world benchmarks (probably mostly video games).
I will test Dell's official ATI driver, the generic ATI 10.4 driver, and any beta driver available from ATI's website. I will not be testing third party drivers.
ATI recommends that Dell laptop users use the Dell drivers. Dell recommends that Dell laptop users use the Dell drivers. Which is actually better? We're going to find out.
The test should take place within a week. Right now I need to find a few games that can produce consistent results (i.e. number of fps when watching a pre-recorded demo). Any ideas or requests for games to use? (free game demos, please)
I will be testing Resident Evil 5 benchmark demo, set in fixed mode, DX10, default settings. It gives an average fps reading.
I might also test Quake Live (I think it has a good timedemo test, need to find out) and Starcraft II beta if I can find a way to average its fps reading (does FRAPS do this?).
When I find 3 total tests that I can perform, I will begin testing.
UPDATE: thank you to gaah for performing the driver comparison test.
Test Results: The Dell driver's performance is equal to the performance of ATI 10.4 driver. The Dell driver offers additional features such as the HDMI/DP Audio driver and AVIVO.
Actual test results: XPS 16: Performance Test of Mobility Radeon HD 4670 drivers
Hi all, Just got curious what are the games that can be played at nice frame rate on dell 1558[ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470]. Some games which tried on my new machine are as follows:
1. Race Driver : GRID - Plays at nice frame rate.[Radeon X1300 or above]
2. DIRT 2 - need to really lower the settings to play.[Radeon X1550]
I bought my notebook during last christmas and the specs are:
Model: Dell Studio XPS 16 HDD: Seagate 500GB 7200RPM OS: Win 7 Professional Graphics: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4670 RAM: 4GB
Until last week it worked like a charm. Then, out of all the madness in the world, I chose to update the Driver of my graphics card. The installation and everything else went smooth. But later when I started to play, I noticed that there is a BLACK AREA around the window. Problem description goes something like this:
Acer Ferrari 3400 ATI radeon 9700 mobility 2 gigs of ram Dual boot with Win XP pro and Ubuntu 7.04 feisty fawn Newest BIOS and software updates from Acer homepage
Few days ago I started having a problem with my Acer Ferrari 3400 laptop. It all started one morning when i tried to boot my computer.
I booted with ubuntu 7.04 feisty fawn and right after the operating system loaded the X graphical interface, the screen went black and the computer freezed.
I rebooted and tried again with Windows XP (I use a dual boot with Win XP and Ubuntu), and this time I got as far as the Windows loading screen. Then the loading screen turned black and the computer just rebooted itself.
I turned off the windows "auto-rebooting in case of error"-option and tried to boot with Win XP again.
This time I got a "blue screen of death (BSOD)" right after the Win XP loading screen. The BSOD indicated a problem with ati2dvag.dll and said that the "device driver got stuck in an infinite loop". Also the technical information said: ** STOP: 0x000000EA (0x8A56C218, 0x8A5BDAD8, 0xBACDFCB4, 0x00000001).
The numbers in parenthesis are always bit different each time i try to boot.
I googled the error and it seems this kind of a error message is very generic and could be the result of nearly anything ranging from software problems to hardware malfunction.
So this is what I have tried to do so far: - I booted Win XP with VGA mode -> Windows booted normally, but as I try to increase resolution the same BSOD appears and I have to reboot.
-I uninstalled all ATI video drivers from Win XP and windows booted normally. Of course, without video drivers, the performance of Windows was very sloppy. But it worked with higher resolutions.
- I installed the newest Omega Drivers for the vid card. Windows booted normally, but still had sloppy performance. I tried dxdiag and it showed that DirectDraw&Direct3D acceleration are unavailable. It also showed that video card memory was n/a. Win XP worked with high resolutions.
- I tried to boot Ubuntu linux with a generic vesa driver and it booted normally. Changed back to radeon drivers and it didn't work.
- I ran the Memtest 21 times and got no memory based errors
- I cleaned Win XP radeon drivers with DriverCleaner and tried a fresh install of radeon drivers. Didn't work.
- Finally, I did a Win XP recovery (reinstall) with the CD:s that came with the computer. The result: same error as before and now I can't even enter the VGA mode because the windows tries to raise the resolution right before entering the desktop -> BSOD
One of the most troublesome consequences of downgrading your VAIO to Windows XP is not being able to adjust the screen brightness using the F5/F6 keys.
This tutorial aims to (i) resolve that issue, and (ii) retain the ability to adjust brightness when you update to the latest LaptopVideo2Go drivers. The below methods have been tested on VAIO FZ, FW, and NS laptops with NVIDIA GeForce 8X00M cards, and they are working flawlessly with the LV2G 190.15 driver.
Part 1: Enabling Fn Brightness Control
Skip this step if your brightness control is already working
In order to be able to use the brightness control on a XP-Downgraded machine, you need:
1. VAIO Event Service Hotfix (Which updates the VESConfig.ini file for the VAIO Event Service) -> You can get this at[url]. -> If you have an FZ, you can use the VESConfig.ini I have attached
2. NVIDIA Driver with Customised nv4_disp.inf (Refer to Part 2)............
What is the newest driver for this card? I went to ati's website and downloaded under vista 32 bit integrated/motherboard x1250 and i don't think it is for my laptop;. Did i screw up my video card by downloading this? Do I need to uninstall it?
I don't personally use it but I noticed a new driver for the facial recognition software dated 2/4/2010 and it lists Win7 in the changes.
So for those who used to use this and upgraded to Win7 to have it not work should be happy. Also noticed a bunch of hard drive updates I never noticed before .....
My current OS is Windows 8 Pro, Display driver: AMD 13-4_mobility_vista_win7_win8_64_dd_ccc_whql.exe1  If set Backlit brightness to level 2 for example, and after some time display turns off (turn off display after X minute) by itself, or restart the laptop; the Backlit brightness level remains same (level 2) but the actual Luminosity (Intensity of backlit) changes to something else.2  If I decrease the Backlit brightness (Fn + F4) to level 0 (the minimum level), and if I further press the key combination (Fn + F4) to decrease Backlit brightness, it will change the Backlit brightness, but the Backlit brightness should not be changing because it already reaches to the minimum level. This issue doesn't happen in Windows 7 with the same driver. this apart from reverting back to ATI v12.1 ?
ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 4650 with Total Available Graphics Memory of approx. 2790 MB and dedicated GDDR3 Video Memory of 1 GB
also the screen description is:
