I reinstall Vista and I'm trying to find the driver that for the LCD dimmer and and volume function. I think basically my function key doesn't work. Does anyone what the driver is called or where I can get it. I already checked the Sony support site but I don't see it on there. I have a Sony vgn-nr180e.
I did a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate version x64 on my Sony VPC-CW13.
But the function keys are not working properly. The volume one work but no OSD. Contrast, and monitor selection one since like it is not working at all.
any tips?
I install all the driver available on the esupport.sony.com website, but still no luck
got my SR-430J. it's probably an older model since it came with Windows Vista...
So first thing I did was did a clean install of Windows 7 Enterprise (a RTM version, and the genuine key is applied so it should be the same as the market version)
I can't for the last 3 hours get the brightness key working... >_> the audio key works but not the brightness... can anyone offer a solution? If not is there another way through windows to change brightness on a laptop screen?
I followed several guides here.. installing the shared library, firmware parser etc... still doesn't work ;x
I am using Windows 7 Enterprise 64-Bit Japanese...
I recently bought a used TZ190N/B (32 GB SSD, US model) and I finished the basic clean install and I'm trying to install the programs/drivers that I need.
Does the Battery Care function/feature come standard with the US versions of the TZ1xx series? It is not available for download on the sony esupport site and is not listed in the programs list on my self-made recovery discs. The only thing remotely similar is "Battery Checker" in Notebook Utilites package, but that only verifies if the battery being used is a genuine Sony battery.
I ran a search and found that Battery Care can be downloaded from the link in post #4 of this thread: for the people who want battery care function after a clean installation But I figured that if the feature isn't offered on Recovery discs or the sony essuport site, then maybe it isn't meant to run on my specific TZ... Will it work on mine?
I have a Sony FW285 with a clean install of Vista Ultimate done about 4 months ago.
I recently noticed that when I start up Vaio Control Center, Sony Battery Care and Power Management doesn't show up anymore. This is really bugging me since I have my battery set on 50% charge so I need a power outlet everywhere I go.
I've tried reinstalling Battery Care, Power Management and Vaio Control Center but like mentioned, Battery Care just refuses to show up in Vaio Control Center
I have a VGN-CR590e, I recently upgraded to Windows 7 home premium 64 Bit (windows upgrade advisor said my laptop could support it), after some intial troubles with the drivers for camera and sd card slots (which now work), the battery wont charge beyond 50%, before the windows 7 upgrade I had the battery care function enabled to super care mode (50% charge), however with the OS upgrade the battery care function has disappeared and I cannot change the amount of charge for the battery,
I have a Vaio NS230E and my function keys do not work. I looked around and found that I need to download the Sony Notebook Utilities, but the problem is the link on Sony's website doesn't work at all. Does have the file or know where to get the file?
I believe I've downloaded all the drivers from Sony's web page. I can't get the function keys such as brightness and volume working. Is there an order to installing them or a file I may have missed? I have a Sony Z series Vaio VGN-Z610Y. I'm running Windows 7 enterprise x64.
VGM-CR13 got Battery Care Function in its preinstalled vista. and the battery care function can limit the charge level of battery in 50% or 80%, but its 32bit version, can not be used in 64bit vista. though it can be installed, but the choice is gray, not accessible yet.
I tried doing a clean install for my friend's Vaio VGN-FW463J/T. I left the hidden Sony recovery partition intact just in case something went wrong. I used a retail Vista x64 sp1 disk and installed it just fine. Then I started installing the drivers, but some of them wouldn't install. The Sony Shared Library starts to install, but then just disappears and doesn't say that it finished installing. The Sony notebook utilities doesn't install because I can't get Shared Library to install. A prompt says that it only works on vista, a message which causes me great confusion. But I can get the Sony Firmware Extension Parser Device Driver to install correctly. The problem is that the fn keys don't work.
And the Intel SATA Driver Registry Patch doesn't install. I think it's because I don't have the original drivers installed, or is this it? I'm missing something huge, aren't I?
I recently did a clean install of windows 7 and ofcourse lost the mousepad scroll functions as well as the blue function buttons to alter brightness, change magnification, etc. How can I go about getting these back because im thinking of selling it soon and I will need the standard features working?
My laptop is a Vaio VGN - FW3 custom build - Core 2 duo 2.66GHz - 16.4" 1080P X-black screen - 4GB Ram - Ati HD3650 512mb GDDR3 - 320GB HDD (5200rpm) - Blu-ray disc player built in
I did a clean install of Windows 7 and I was surprised that almost everything is working out of the gate. There are only a few bugs that I've noticed.
1.) The Fn functions in the F-keys don't work. Which driver do I need for that?
2.) Same thing goes for the Mode - - - - - Settings keys above that. Which driver fixes that?
3.) In the device manager I have and unknown "Base System Device" with the Location of "PCI bus 7, device 3, function 2". What is this/How do I fix it?
4.) The touchpad doesn't scroll. I tried installing the driver from the Sony eSupport page, but it failed. (I reinstalled and rebooted and it's working)
And not a bug, but just a straight up question... 5.) Should I install Sony Shared Library? Do I need it for anything? I really don't plan on installing any of the programs that came pre-installed with Vista, unless it's necessary.
My daughter was hitting keys on my laptop a few months ago. Prior to that I was able to hold the funtion key and either the up or down key to control the volume. Now that doesnt work. how i can get that control back?
i want to leave my xps laptop connected to my tv (through the hdmi connection) for long periods of time, and i want to be able to leave the laptop screen off and closed while i do this.. also just for extra information the laptop came with vista installed however i installed XP pro instead.
anyway, when i initially got my laptop i could press the function key and tv-out key and it would output to the tv with the laptop screen still on, pressing it again would still output to the tv and turn the laptop screen off, and a third time would turn off tv-output and have just the laptop screen. i.e. pressing fn and F8
1 time - tv output with laptop screen on 2 times - tv output with laptop screen off 3 times - bring it back to normal with laptop screen on and tv out off.
my problem is that when i press it two times my laptop screen goes off, however no tv signal is sent to the tv anymore.. i tried updating my geforce 8400GS drivers and installing and re-installing the video device but it didnt change anything.
I woke up this morning and there is no light under the function buttons! The buttons work when I press them but don't light up at all. Is there a setting to turn it on an off or is it broken?
I've just installed the x64 version of Windows 7, and everything seems to work fine but the keyboard, the function keys and the lights are not working. I've the unibody MBP... I tried by installing the driver manually but it's still the same.
I recently had to reinstall windows on my XPS 15 (l521x) and i now have the F-keys working with their assaigned function (Brightness, play/pause, volume, etc) however, the graphic overlays no longer appear.
For example - Fn + Brightness^ - will increase brightness but with no graphic showing what the current brightness level is.
I much prefer to use the function keys AS FUNCTION KEYS. I don't want the default to be fast forward or rewind or stop or sound options. I want f2 to be f2 (edit excel cell) and so on. Currently I press fn EVERY time. It's annoying.
Is there a way of changing the defualt key to be what was originally intended? HP has made finding this information impossible so far.
All of them seem to work with the exception of previous track, play/pause, and next track. Is this due to me using winamp instead of wmp? I have the latest quickset software and all latest drivers from dell website.
I have recently performed a clean install of windows 7 on my Acer TravelMate 5520G which used to run Vista. The whole process took the best part of 15 min...
All works *very* well apart from the orange WLAN LED at the front of the laptop (next to the bluetooth LED). WiFi functions fine and so does the WLAN switch. Except for the strange fact that when WLAN is ON the LED is OFF and when WLAN is switched OFF the LED comes ON!
The 802.11g network adapter driver installed is that of Broadcom version 5.30.21.0. Installing LaunchManager does not solve the problem.
Of course not a major problem, but the LED used to indicate WiFi connection status by flashing on&off, pretty handy.
how to go forward to get it to work as per normal?
Actually, this notebook has a long history in modifying MBR and BCD......
--SOME OF THE HISTORY--"SKIP IT IF YOU WANT TO" ---------------------------------------------------------------------- My original problem was to burn the recovery disks, as the recovery manager software couldn't see the recovery partition. That's because when I first bought the notebook I wanted to divide its hard disk into several partitions, but that was not the mistake....The mistake was using Partition magic to do so.... It messed with my partition table (I guess).
However, I was able to retore the "LINK" between the recovery partition and the recovery manager software by applying the recovery partition's boot sectors of a friend of mine with a similar laptop on mine.
That was done after alot of MBR experiments to find out how to fix that problem.
So now I can burn the recovery disks, but I wont. The reason is that I want to be sure that the recovery partition functions properly before applying the "ONE TIME" burning process...............
I've been trying to find a way to make cmd-tab function a little bit more like its Windows counterpart. It seems that when cmd-tab'ing my way through open applications, anything which was intentionally minimized previously will not become active, whereas in Windows, doing that will bring to the foreground whatever you select via alt-tab.
It's a bit reminiscent of how OS X doesn't concretely associate the menu bar with the application in the foreground; I've posted about that before, but to no avail.
Anyway, does anyone have any thoughts on the cmd-tab thing? Yes, I realize that OS X is not Windows. It's just that I happen to like both OSes (and installed Windows 7 Pro via Boot Camp today for that reason), so if there's a way I can have a more desired behavior on this, I'd definitely enjoy it.
My brightness function keys are not working. Other function keys like music player, mute etc are working fine in my windows 7 os. My Model no is 15-r006TU. I have installed all display drivers and checked action key settings in my BIOS settings. Nothing works.
I want to stop overtpying while typing. When I click using the cursor on the typed text it highlights a letter in the word instead of getting the cursor between letters. When I start typing it over writes the words ahead of it. How do I stop this?
