I just got my new i7 vaio Z recently, and i love it!
But when I load up any games, the fan starts sounding like a jet engine. (which is good, it means its dissipating heat I assume)
However, any way to tell if the fan is not keeping up? any chance it could be causing overheating/damage? I just want to make sure I keep this thing in good shape.
CPU ~ 2.0-GHz Intel Atom Z550 RAM ~ 2GB-4GB (apparently you can add on another 2GB according to laptopmag) HDD ~ 128GB SSD NATIVE RES ~ 1366x768 GFX ~ INTEL GMA 500 w/ 762MB OS ~ Windows 7 Premium (32-bit)
I don't own a Sony VAIO X, yet, but I would just like to compile a compatible/playable game list for future reference.
If any owners would like to confirm/deny compatibility with the games or would like to add a game, I would appreciate if you send me a PM or post here!
how well can the new fw hold up against games like fallout 3, bioshock, devil may cry4, crysis(all directx10/1600x900/max settings, AA), i get anywhere from 39 to 75 FPS. I played Aion( an mmorpg, max settings, 1600x900, AA, directx10) and got between 60(in the fields fighting) to 45(running to new places) to 35(in towns crowded with people).
My specs: windos 7 evalution copy/build 7100 Dual core 2.53ghz 4 GB RAM ATI radeon 4650 1GB
I realize the 330M GT is not a tier 1 video card for gaming...but I'm curious if this card can drive the native 1920 by 1080 res of this laptop in modern games (MW2, Mass Effect 2, etc). I'm not looking for 60 frames per second...would be satisfied with 30...just trying to gauge if this is a reasonable expectation.
Closest answer I've found in the owner threads indicated that one person said it could run native on Left 4 Dead 2 and COD: World at War.
Very impressed by the performance of the i7 core and DDR3 memory...just hoping the video card can at least hold its own.
i am planning to buy sony fw from Sonystyle.com with the following configuration..but i hav doubts,
1.Can i be able to play high games like assains creed ,gta 4 in this ati card system specification provided with fw
2.can this blue ray read only write dvdr,dvd+-rw
3.i hav heared about region code problem like on playing dvds,blueray..is there any way to overcme it....i mostly use dvds which i write so does regon code make any issue in this..

Trying to get rid of these questionably useful programs -- but I don't see entries for them in add/remove programs in the control panel (or for any of the other useless VAIO software packages that come on OEM machines sans "fresh start")
I have just been given a VAIO PCG8A2M (GRX316MP) , i was told "it's broken but if you can fix it yo can have it" so having a quick look at it there's no sign of life on the display but the lights come on and i can here the HDD heads moving about.
Looking a little more i found that all the ram is missing , so now im not sure if its worth buying some ram to see if it works or not ? The lack of ram would prob explain the lack of display but i wonder if i should be getting POST beeps at least, which im not.
So my question is if a VAIO had no ram should (if all else was working) it be getting POST beeps ?
Just performed a successful XP downgrade on my Vaio Z520, but have noticed that on this copy of the Vaio Silver Desktop Theme/Appearance doesn't exist.
I had it on my SZ and loved it over the XP Blue. Is there a way to get it back? I still have the restore discs from the SZ.
I don't know whats the diference (besides the price), between VAIO TZ295N & VAIO TZ395N. Specs in all the websites I've checked say they have exactly the same components: Intel coreduo 1.33Ghz 2GB RAM DVD-RW and 64GB SSD Hardrive. I was wonder if the diference might be in the hard drive interface, with the TZ295N being PATA and TZ395N being SATA.
I'm wondering if the Blu-ray optical drive (Panasonic UJ-232A) of the (old) VAIO Z series will be able to fit into the (new) VAIO Z series? I would really appreciate it if anyone is able to answer my question.
The reason I'm asking is because I'm seriously thinking of selling my VAIO Z690 & just buying the base Sony VAIO Z (VPCZ112GX/S). I may just be able to afford that base model & the icing on the cake will definitely be the UJ-232A drive being able to fit into the (new) VAIO Z series & work.
The specs along with the look and price really make this an attractive laptop. I’ve been looking for a reasonably priced portable gaming box. This will by no means be a desktop replacement, but more of a LAN party box I can bring with me instead of lugging around my desktop.
I've been looking into buying the Dell Studio XP 16 for the last couple weeks but the number of issues I've seen reported on various forums have made me nervous.
1)Has the throttling issue been fully resolved? I’ve seen various BIOS being released but I’m yet to read anywhere that it has resolved the issue or whether it will EVER be resolved.
2)Does the throttling issue affect all Dell XPS 16s or just particular builds/models?
3)How hot does the laptop get when surfing the web? I know it can get pretty warm when gaming.
4)Anyone have any timeline of when the next version of the Dell XPS 16 will be released?
5)Should I wait until a newer XPS is released or stay away from it completely and get a different laptop?
I put my 7950 gtx at 620//675 and I was testing with atitool .26 which I just downloaded and didn't change any settings. No artifacts for about 45 minutes, but atitool reports my temps in the system tray, and it got as high as 88 degrees. That seems pretty high, is that bad?
you know when you buy a laptop off dell you get pre installed the dell data safe. then all you have to do is click on it and setup an account.
normally there is a subscription for free when you buy your laptop. i lost that icon because of a hard drive wipe.
were do i get that software again? and no dell.com/datasafe dont work. i need the software that you get that will make you an account based on your service tag so it know what to give you for size.
just now i was benchmarking my 4570 with some software... then in the GPUZ the gpu temperature was showing from 65.C to 100.C within a few minutes... freaked out.. ii just closed the software..
and am worried if this was normal and what would be the safe operating temperature of a graphic card for notebook... and my fans are rolling at full speeds @100.C...
I'm looking to upgrade my E6400 to an intel 5300 card. Do I have to buy a card that is programed specificly for a Dell computer, or will any one work? In shopping around I see that some say Dell only, or HP/IBM only.
How about the ones on e-bay, have users had good luck with those? For some reason I'm wary of those sellers. Of course I know I can buy one from Dell, but I'm trying to save a few bucks if I can
I have a Dell Inspiron 15 320gb hard drive that I purchased in August 2013. It has been a great computer until last night.
I shut it down and later rebooted it.
It seemed normal until the wallpaper ( a photo of mine ) appeared as normal. The date and time was showing along with signal strength and battery strength.
None of my short cuts appeared and none of the keys on the key board work - at all.
I tried rebooting and hitting F8 to go to safe mode - nothing.
I tried a memory stick and a SD card but computer will not recognize anything. I would go back to all factory defaults and lose my files if I could get access.
I entered Safe Mode in my Envy TS 15 running windows 8.1 to fix some issues with my Norton software and now I can't figure out how to exit back to normal mode. Â Internet is shut off in safe mode (even though I selected safe mode with networking) so I can run any of Support resolutions. How to do this?
The laptop goes into a restarting mode, which after computer loaded the desktop and taskbar keep on restarting itself.  Cant click or do anything in it.  I tried to use F8, it wont bring me to the sttandard loading option.  When i bough t it, no manual, no dvd or anything.Â
Am planning to get a sony laptop for me. The design simply rocks I am getting mixed reviews about cw and E series. But i made up my mind to get one.
My budget is aroung 40000rupees. Thats around 800$. So suggest me a better one between these two for occasional moderate and less(mosltly) demanding games. I dont care whether its 14 or 15 inch.
Am looking at lower end versions of both the models.
Only difference is CW uses Nvidia Geforce 310 and the E series uses some Radeon 5000 series one. CW has 14 inch screen whereas E series has a 15.5 inch screen. In the models which i am looking at both have matte finish and both has WXGA:1366 x 768 VAIO Display.
which one should i go for. whether the screen quality will be on par to Inspiron one atleast? ( I dont need HD).
im planning on using the laptop for videos, photoshop and a bit of gaming, maybe even a bit more gaming :-)
The Vaio F Series only has 330M Nvidia Graphics Card with i7QM and up to 8GB of Ram and up to 256GB SSD.
The E Series has ATI 5650 (a less powerful version, reduced clock speed) combined with a i5 520M with up to 6Gb of Ram and up to 500GB of HDD ? Why can i not choose SSD ?
if I can use the AC Adapter of a Vaio TT on the Vaio Z. The standard AC Adapter that comes with the Vaio Z is of 19.5V and the one for the Vaio TT is of 16V, which I don't know if it's enough for the Vaio Z to function properly or if there could be any problem or damage. Both machines have batteries of 10,8V.
I have an undervolted Vaio Z by the way (last multiplier at 0.9875) so I don't know if this could help in any way for my Z to work ok with the TT AC Adapter.
