View 5 RepliesOn sonys site, what are the bios under? I found it once before, but can't now. I'm pretty use to Dell's drivers page, but I don't think Sony's is all that bad either.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIs there any problems with the 9300 in the vaio z? Im asking this because of all the 8400 and 8600 were defective.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just got my new i7 vaio Z recently, and i love it!
But when I load up any games, the fan starts sounding like a jet engine. (which is good, it means its dissipating heat I assume)
However, any way to tell if the fan is not keeping up? any chance it could be causing overheating/damage? I just want to make sure I keep this thing in good shape.
I just got my new Sony Vaio VGN FW590FVB yesterday and am having a problem. Once I enter either of my SD cards into the SD slot,
they show up fine under "my computer". However, once I am done using them, there is no option on the taskbar to "safely remove"
the SD card. There is also no option when I right click on the SD card under "my computer" for "eject"
if i can uninstall anoying protector suite from my new VAIO Z series and is it safe to do it?
I dont use sensor,fingerprints etc...
Only thing im concerned is that this app has something to do with computer performance and passwords so im still holding on it.
I bought an Acer notebook (aspire 4730z) from New york about six months ago. The notebook powers on but nothing comes on the screen. I contacted acer and they confirmed that the notebook is still under ITW warranty.
The problem is that I am in Oman right now and I don't have the ITW booklet which specified various Acer ITW locations. Acer doesn't have a PDF format of the document too (I asked the Customer Support). So, if anyone have the ITW booklet, please post the ITW service locations in Oman and U.A.E.
I am experiencing pretty much constant clicking-like noise on the left side of my dv7. I understand this is classic sound of a dying HDD. However, since it seems to be coming from either my Optiarc BD-ROM drive (which I have had problems with in the past) or right below it, I'm not sure about that diagnosis. I would open it up myself to look for the HDD so I can be sure whether that is the failing part or not but I couldn't get the battery out and I'm not sure what the warranty allows for in terms of DIY anyhow.
View 4 Replies View RelatedOkay, I have my two XPS 14’s connected via Bluetooth. However, where do my files go?
How can I find the location that they have been transferred to?
I just started my Aspire 5520 laptop, and when I get to the desktop an error pops up saying that I can't access the location of my desktop (C:Windowssystem32configsystemprofileDesktop)
Only thing which shows up on the desktop is the recycle bin.
The Vista theme is changed to classic and I can't get it back.
Internet doesn't work
Sound doesn't work
I can't open the control panel (in safe mode I can, but not all of the icons are there that should be there)
In the task manager there's only 4 processes running:
eplorer.exe csrss.exe taskmgr.exe (of course) and winlogo.exe
I think I can open all of my programs that I got installed, but basically I almost can't do anything else.
I've been trying to use system restore, but even in safe mode it won't open.
Where the software and data for the Dell Latitude E4300 ON-Reader is located?
Is it at the normal hard disk drive located just in a special partition there? Or is there another drive especially for it like a small flash media device or something like that?
I killed my BIOS my mistakenly running a BIOS update in WinXP... Power light, power to drives but nothing else.
After much searching I found I might be able to reflash it using a Crisis Recovery Disk, an external USB floppy drive and some combination of key-presses on boot.
Various combinations of this have been tried (FN+ESC, Win+B, Win+Fn, Fn+B....battery in/out, yada, yada, yada) and so the fallback is to use the boot block jumper as per Acer's support information:
[url]
After downloading FRU guides, user guides and service manuals for loads of Acer models, I haven't got one for the 2000 series that helps, though I have managed to get the keyboard off (I understand this is the usual location for boot block jumpers) revealing switch SW5 with 4 DIP switches.
Now what? :-)
I have emailed Acer support but hear less than glowing reports about their responses,
(I believe the motherboard is an Intel MS2154 which is used in TM20**, TM21**, TM25** and TM26** models, and maybe an Aspire one or two)
The specs along with the look and price really make this an attractive laptop. I’ve been looking for a reasonably priced portable gaming box. This will by no means be a desktop replacement, but more of a LAN party box I can bring with me instead of lugging around my desktop.
I've been looking into buying the Dell Studio XP 16 for the last couple weeks but the number of issues I've seen reported on various forums have made me nervous.
1)Has the throttling issue been fully resolved? I’ve seen various BIOS being released but I’m yet to read anywhere that it has resolved the issue or whether it will EVER be resolved.
2)Does the throttling issue affect all Dell XPS 16s or just particular builds/models?
3)How hot does the laptop get when surfing the web? I know it can get pretty warm when gaming.
4)Anyone have any timeline of when the next version of the Dell XPS 16 will be released?
5)Should I wait until a newer XPS is released or stay away from it completely and get a different laptop?
I put my 7950 gtx at 620//675 and I was testing with atitool .26 which I just downloaded and didn't change any settings. No artifacts for about 45 minutes, but atitool reports my temps in the system tray, and it got as high as 88 degrees. That seems pretty high, is that bad?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI just finished playing L4D and my recorded temps from HWMonitor were:
Max 81C for CPU
Max 90C for GPU
Should I be getting a notebook cooler?
I have two M1330s. One has 2GB of Hynix RAM (2x1GB) and the other 4GB of Nanya RAM (2x2GB).
I am thinking of making both machines 3GB - I think the extra RAM will outweigh the performance hit of partly losing dual channel access.
Are there likely to be problems?
The respective labels read:
2Rx8 PC2-5300S-555-12
2Rx8 PC2-5300S-555-13-F1.667
If I rightclick then selected format and then OK Will it harm my computer? I want to erase everything. Should i even bother erasing the D Drive?
View 4 Replies View Relatedyou know when you buy a laptop off dell you get pre installed the dell data safe. then all you have to do is click on it and setup an account.
normally there is a subscription for free when you buy your laptop. i lost that icon because of a hard drive wipe.
were do i get that software again? and no dell.com/datasafe dont work. i need the software that you get that will make you an account based on your service tag so it know what to give you for size.
just now i was benchmarking my 4570 with some software... then in the GPUZ the gpu temperature was showing from 65.C to 100.C within a few minutes... freaked out.. ii just closed the software..
and am worried if this was normal and what would be the safe operating temperature of a graphic card for notebook... and my fans are rolling at full speeds @100.C...
I'm looking to upgrade my E6400 to an intel 5300 card. Do I have to buy a card that is programed specificly for a Dell computer, or will any one work?
In shopping around I see that some say Dell only, or HP/IBM only.
How about the ones on e-bay, have users had good luck with those? For some reason I'm wary of those sellers. Of course I know I can buy one from Dell, but I'm trying to save a few bucks if I can
I have an Inspiron 1420 and I'm going to upgrade to Windows 7, the drivers listed for the 1420 are outdated,
I can find newer ones searching the support site but they are listed for other models.
Is it better to just stick with the ones listed for my model or should I go with the updated ones. What do most people here do?
I have a Dell Inspiron 15 320gb hard drive that I purchased in August 2013. It has been a great computer until last night.
I shut it down and later rebooted it.
It seemed normal until the wallpaper ( a photo of mine ) appeared as normal. The date and time was showing along with signal strength and battery strength.
None of my short cuts appeared and none of the keys on the key board work - at all.
I tried rebooting and hitting F8 to go to safe mode - nothing.
I tried a memory stick and a SD card but computer will not recognize anything. I would go back to all factory defaults and lose my files if I could get access.
I entered Safe Mode in my Envy TS 15 running windows 8.1 to fix some issues with my Norton software and now I can't figure out how to exit back to normal mode. Â Internet is shut off in safe mode (even though I selected safe mode with networking) so I can run any of Support resolutions. How to do this?
View 7 Replies View RelatedThe laptop goes into a restarting mode, which after computer loaded the desktop and taskbar keep on restarting itself.  Cant click or do anything in it.

I tried to use F8, it wont bring me to the sttandard loading option.Â

I'm going to do a clean install of Vista soon but my battery is dead, won't even recharge, needs to be replaced.
Just wondering if I will run into any issues ?
Dell seem extortionate for an Inspiron 1520 replacement. Worth a 3rd party risk? Seen some non OEM ones on ebay with a 1 year guarantee for half the price.
I am notebook user with a Dell Inspiron 1720 (ich8m) and have a sata mtron SSD (16gb) running.
The SSD will not exceed the 84 MB/s read speed in normal mode but in safemode the SSD reaches 98 MB/s or more. I am now running XP but this problem is also in Vista.
On my old desktop with a nfore 4 the ssd always reaches the 98 MB/s even in normal mode.
The maximum speed of the SSD is 100 MB/s ......
Going the clean install route and looking at the partitions, found this small Dell one. It's only about 40MB and uses only 400KB.
Looking with Gparted it's called Dell Utility and with Vista Disk Management, nothing but does say EISA configuration under status.
My 9300 has an issue that I'm hoping someone can help with.
When I boot as normal into XP there are broken lines on screen like electrical interference and then when XP tries to start the screen goes black.
When I boot into safe mode the screen is fine but obviously not at 1900x1200 resolution.
I've noticed my graphics card fan is not spinning so I'm assuming the card wont run at 1900x1200 when it senses the fan has died ?
My acer 8930G has a quad core q9000 at 2ghz 6mb cashe and 1066fsb, the graphics is 9600GT with 1gb ddr3 ram.
How do I go about overclocking and what are the safe limits for this model?
Oh and I just installed windows 7 ultimate and my windows performance went down from 6.9 (vista) to 2.4!
I start the laptop and I get the black screen with the Dell logo on it. There is a progress bar at the bottom that moves across to the right as the boot up progresses. In the bottom right corner, it shows the option of hitting F2 for Set Up or F12 for Boot Menu. I can access both of these menus. It then progresses to a screen with the Windows logo with the words "Resuming Windows" underneath. Once that completes, I get a black screen!
I was told that I should boot up the laptop in safe mode by hitting F8.....Â
I can't seem to get this to work.
