View 6 RepliesMy TZ11's left mouse button has gone a bit 'soft' and it's a bit unreliable now, so using the computer is becoming very frustrating. I can see that it's pretty straight forward to take the keyboard off and get to the trackpad and mouse assembly but I need to know where to get the spare part in the UK.
best source of this part? And also the part number?
Do I need to buy a combined trackpad and mouse assembly or can I buy just the micro switches for the mouse?
I have the 16.0" diagonal High Definition HP Ultra BrightView Infinity Display (1920x1080p) and the outside glass has couple marks on it. I would like to replace this.
Where can I find brand new replacement parts?
Also, I need to replace the keyboard, chrome keyboard bezel and outer chrome cover (on the left hand side of the laptop, around the VGA port). Where can I find brand new replacement parts?
I've had my TT for just over a year and the other night i notice that my SONY logo is now SON. The Y fell off and I can't find it.
I was wondering if anyone knew how to obtain the logo sticker otherwise my only other option is replace the entire bezel.
I have recently bought acer aspire 6920 with vista home premium (OEM) preinstalled 64bit version. I have made recovery dvd discs from erecovery option for factory defaults.
I have two questions:
1: will Acer provide recovery discs free of cost if requested.
2: Will I be able to install vista home premium 32bit version on D drive from a retail version I have, side by side with 64bit on C drive. Shall be thankful if someone can clarify with procedure for item 2 since I am not very familiar with notebooks working.
I'm looking for a replacement screen bezel/surround to fit my SZ61WN/C (mine is cracked in half at the bottom between the N and Y of Sony! N is lost in the abyss so I currently have a SO Y Laptop ).
After a bit of digging on this site I have found the disassembly guides and nexttronics who will deliver what I need to me here in the UK, my only issue is that I'm not sure which one I need to buy.
I'm think its one on this page (below) under the "lcd133led" section as it is an led backlit screen with motion eye camera (on diagram as 1011).

My model isn't listed as its a European version (the SZ61WN/C is an all black Premium Carbon model), is there an equivalent US model number that anyone knows of?
I bought Sony FW490 with full hd screen (1920x1080) but after hearing so much about wonderful RGB LED display on Dell, I got one from Dell outlet and now I can compare them both side by side and send one back. To my surprise Sony's screen is a tad brighter,
white color is white and red is very accurate too, on Dell screen is dimmer (on full brightness) red is more brownish and white is yellow-greenish.
I was reading this forum for a few months and almost everybody says that RGB screen is very bright, that one can use it on half brightness, but that is not the case with my SXPS16.
i have had 2 problems with my Z for a while and im fed up because its out of warranty and sony will not fix it.
1. The Right hinge i believed is messed up so it does not close correctly. Due to this the right side of the lcd bezel has become cracked on the bottom right i believe because of the tension. (check the pictures). I have to keep a clip on the right bottom side to hold the LCD in place.
2. The notebook is really really hot. Especially using the nvidia. When running any 3d game it takes less than 10 minutes for the temps to get ridiculous on the cpu and gpu. It just turns off when it gets to like 103 or something. Im not sure if its the gpu or cpu but i think they share the same copper pipe for heat. Im going to put arctic silver on both of the chips if i can and clean everything out really good.
My main issue is the hinge. Im not even sure if it is repairable. If it isnt repairable where and how should I go about getting a new Hingle and LCD bezel.
I'm having trouble sourcing the screen assembly (the bezel or surround rather than the screen itself) for a Sony TZ series. Is there a site that can show me part numbers on a diagram..
I can't look at the machine in question until next week to find out the part numbers directly..
Anyone know where to get some replacement parts such as the keyboard for the Vaio Z?
View 4 Replies View RelatedThe keyboard is sticking out from the right hand side...So I can literally lift it up from the lap top using my finger.
Also the lap top doesn't stay balanced sitting on a table. It rocks back forth as if one of eraser pads underneath is bigger than the other. But that's not the case after I examined it..
I've only had it for 5 months and today is the first day I noticed these things...It's never been dropped or anything with light use.
I have the extended warranty, I wonder if its covered.
I'm trying to find a keyboard cover for my SR.
I found a few websites when I googled "sony sr keyboard cover".
Any reliable recommendations you guys can give me?
Any is there anything I need to worry about/look out for when purchasing one?
Or is it simply, "a cover is a cover"?
I have a one year old sz680 CTO with a bluetooth vaio mouse VGP-BMS33. The strange thing is that the mouse only works well when I position it to the left of the vaio.
When I have it between me and the laptop, the mouse pointer moves in shocks, and on the right it doesn't work at all. (As a test, I also tried it behind the laptop and there it also in shocks).
I have tried to move the laptop to a different location, away from external power. I have turned of wlan & wwan. I have used different batteries, both common and rechargables.
I have CR590 with Windows 7 installed. Recently have updated SFEP, Sony Shared Library, VAIO Event Service and VAIO Power Management to the latest versions from ftp://ftp.vaio-link.com.
Results:
1) "Capture" button started to work, it hadn't worked before, therefore all functional buttons work except AV Mode (I haven't installed Instant mode software)
2) VAIO profiles disappeared from PM settings — but this not a problem, I think I can leave with self configured profiles .....
anyone knows about the part number for tz keyboard connection cable and where i can get it.
also about to upgrade my tt. anyone know that whether a tt without wwan option will have the daughterboard and internal antenna for the wwan.
is tz's daughtboard compatible with tt? what is the part number for that board.
About three months ago I returned my laptop to be repaired for a hard drive malfunction, not a big deal since I had the two year accidental protection plan. When I got it back they gave me a new hard drive, but my video card switcher no longer worked! Please see the attached image: the slide switch is towards "Stamina" however the "Speed" is illuminated. The slideswitch seems to be locked in place, I cannot move it.
I only recently had time to tell Sony about this, to which they replied that they cannot help me, since it has been more than 30 days since the repair. I replied explaining that I had this fancy-shmancy protection plan, and perhaps it could be fixed under that umbrella; to which they tactfully retorted that they had (prematurely) terminated my contract, and that if I want, I can send it in and be charged for parts and labor for the thing that they broke. [/rant]
Anyway..I would love to fix this myself, since I am in fact on my own. I took off the keyboard and palmrest, and was unable to find out how to remove the cover that contains the S-buttons/slideswitches/power button/speakers. Is it in there with just clips? This region looks particularly delicate, not that the rest isn't, however I feel as thought I should be especially gentle. Ive checked all the disassembly/teardown links I could find on the sz series, but none seem to detail how to remove this one part.
I found the part number for the raid component in the Z-series. You just need two low-profile SSD, and you should be able to do RAID in the Z-series laptop without paying for RAID config from Sony.
Part number is A-1553-769-A
You can go here to purchase the part

You may be able to use this in the TT as well, but I'm not so sure about that.
within the Z series, is the "premium carbon fiber" option on the upper case cover only? or is it inside (like where the keyboard is) we well?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI was interested in getting another hard drive caddy for a 1545 but looking on Dell's website by model # they do not even list the 1545 per se.
They have a choice for "15" which I assume will include anything across the board for the 15 "family" models so I looked in there but no parts like this.
I tried ebay and googling around, found several places that sell spare Dell parts, even called & spoke to one but it seems to me that (a) Dell doesn't sell a part like this separately, and (b) places that do sell these kinds of parts are salvaging them from old/dead PCs and since the 1545 is a fairly new model spare parts haven't really surfaced for it yet.
Am curious if folks here know of any decent places to find this kind of thing though, since I certainly could be overlooking something!
I'm shopping for a spare power supply for my M4400 that need to be able to do full GPU/CPU load for 8 hour a day will the the90W do it or I need to go 130W.
I still have not used the battery so I could deactivate battery charging on the spare PSU
I have a friend that bought a dv9000 from me but now he damaged the keyboard with his watch. A few of the (i dont know the name lol) things that hold the keyboard keys are broken. Anybody that lives near belgium and has some to spare or sell?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI want to replace the whole bezel that goes around my slim and light led screen. I also need to replace the cover on top of that which is tuxedo black. Is it difficult to do? Where do i buy it from?
View 9 Replies View RelatedJust saw these pictures of this custom Macbook air, and i just wanted to know your thoughts about this mod. Do you like it more than the original, my only problem with this is that the bottom of the bezel says "Macbook" not macbook air.

Which macbook pros come with the new metal colored trim around the bezel?
High-res screens only? Does matte/glossy matter? Both come that way?
Dell's parts people are idiots-1 hour on hold then "Ah yes...we have a Logitech wireless USB keyboard for only $54.99 and it will be compatible with your 1737"
I need to source the following parts:
Studio 1737:
Backlit Keyboard.(Found a refurb keyboard for $90..that can't be right)
Inspiron 9300:
Bluetooth card (Dell wanted $35)
New keyboard (Dell wanted $45)
Power jack(I will solder to the mb)
My girlfriend bought an e6400 just over a year ago. We've noticed a small crack on the screen bezel close to the left hand hinge.
The laptop isn't used a great deal and is rarely moved form the table where it sits. I'm positive that the crack is a result of a defect rather than any 'abuse' the system has had.
Naturally I wished to take advantage of the 3 year warranty the machine has, but have just been told on the phone that the screen bezel is not covered.
Apparently:
- I don't have a 'complete care' warranty.
- The regular warranty I have only covers 'parts' of the machine.
- The bezel isn't one of those parts.
The guy on the phone was unable to point me to where the conditions of my warranty are spelt out.
Can anyone advise me on where I stand?
if anyone here had any idea on how to remove the bezel on an Acer Aspire 6920-6973. I bought the replacement LCD for my screen and I cant seem to get the bezel off completely!
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am thinking about purchasing the Aspire V3 572 5217 and would like to know about the process of adding an optical drive. I have done some research and pretty much assume that the majority are universal. I would like to know if the product itself comes with a bezel or if I have to purchase one. If so, what steps do I do to make the right arrangements?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI currently have everything I ever need on one laptop -- a mid-2009 15" MBP. Having had a slew of hard drive problems over the past few years, and given that such disks are regularly the source of problems (before, say, a logic board), I'm considering purchasing a spare hard drive and keeping it, or the one in my machine, as a backup disk for the day when my current drive dies. The closest Apple store is ~45 minutes away, and I'm perfectly capable of doing my own computer surgery. An inoperable laptop would be a pretty significant problem for me.
So basically, my questions are twofold:
- From perusing the hard drive threads a few months back here in the Apple forum, it seems like WD's Scorpio Blue (500 GB, 5400 RPM) is the popular choice. Given the time that's elapsed since its release (and the thinning of hard drive threads after the last "big one" I found), are there any other drives, SSD or standard, that can beat it in terms of power usage / noise / performance overall without gouging the bill too much?
- I use Time Machine with a Time Capsule to keep everything nice and backed up, but an HD/SSD swap would be best done with an image of my entire drive. Is Carbon Copy Cloner still the go-to for that?
I have a Lenovo Thinkpad X201. Due to the nature of my work I am frequently required to boot up from a variety of operating systems. Recently, to protect integrity of the OSes, I moved out Ubuntu onto a spare HDD so now I have two hard disks - one that boots into Windows 7 and another that boots into Ubuntu. The problem is that if I connect the Ubuntu hard disk via USB for bootup, it is death slow and I have had instances where the hard disk developed bad sectors because the USB cable came loose and disconnected the drive. The only other option I am using currently is to manually swap the internal HDDs every time I need to change OSes. I was wondering if I can purchase a spare hard disk tray with its rubber mounts so that all I need to do is unscrew the hard disk bay cover (one screw) and swap the drives rather than have to unscrew the entire assembly and then screw it onto the other HDD repeatedly.
Looking for FRU number for the entire SATA HDD assembly (minus the HDD itself of course but including the rubber rails).
