My girlfriend bought an e6400 just over a year ago. We've noticed a small crack on the screen bezel close to the left hand hinge.
The laptop isn't used a great deal and is rarely moved form the table where it sits. I'm positive that the crack is a result of a defect rather than any 'abuse' the system has had.
Naturally I wished to take advantage of the 3 year warranty the machine has, but have just been told on the phone that the screen bezel is not covered.
Apparently:
- I don't have a 'complete care' warranty.
- The regular warranty I have only covers 'parts' of the machine.
- The bezel isn't one of those parts.
The guy on the phone was unable to point me to where the conditions of my warranty are spelt out.
I purchased a Dell around May 2008, and upon receiving the laptop I noticed that there was an area on the left of the screen that seemed to have an internal protrusion;
whenever I moved the screen that area would have extensive rippling. When viewed from different angles the screen seemed to have a white mark in that area. Since I had had a lot of computer drama with HP back then,
I didn't want to ship back my new Dell right as I got it, and I left it alone. Unfortunately I didn't take any images of the screen.
A couple of weeks ago, I opened my laptop like any other day, only to find that the screen had cracked internally, right where I had suspected the weakness .....
a while ago i accidentally cracked the screen of my Dell M1330 (im a student by the way it was a present i should have been more carefull with it i know i am gutted )
the laptop itself worked fine for a while after that apart from the blemish of the screen itself,
it was only untill recently that after a while the screen turns a shade of greeen with lines down it then resets itself only to be just white, it works about half the time i try to turn it on now
i was wondering what my best course of action would be, i have heard very bad things about dell's OWR and i cant really afford to pay a lot for repairs?
I have an E6400 that came from Dell with Vista Business installed. I have the disks to downgrade to XP. Will doing this affect my warranty? Do I need to buy a downgrade from Dell in order to maintain the warranty?
I want to replace the whole bezel that goes around my slim and light led screen. I also need to replace the cover on top of that which is tuxedo black. Is it difficult to do? Where do i buy it from?
Just saw these pictures of this custom Macbook air, and i just wanted to know your thoughts about this mod. Do you like it more than the original, my only problem with this is that the bottom of the bezel says "Macbook" not macbook air.
I just recently placed an order for a Studio 1737 (replacing an Inspiron E1705). It comes with a 1 year warranty.
I'm debating whether it's worth spending $200+ to upgrade to a Dell 3 year warranty or should I get a 3 year Square Trade Warranty for less than $150 (I can get one for around $120 after a coupon)?
I'm looking for a replacement screen bezel/surround to fit my SZ61WN/C (mine is cracked in half at the bottom between the N and Y of Sony! N is lost in the abyss so I currently have a SO Y Laptop ).
After a bit of digging on this site I have found the disassembly guides and nexttronics who will deliver what I need to me here in the UK, my only issue is that I'm not sure which one I need to buy.
I'm think its one on this page (below) under the "lcd133led" section as it is an led backlit screen with motion eye camera (on diagram as 1011).

My model isn't listed as its a European version (the SZ61WN/C is an all black Premium Carbon model), is there an equivalent US model number that anyone knows of?
if anyone here had any idea on how to remove the bezel on an Acer Aspire 6920-6973. I bought the replacement LCD for my screen and I cant seem to get the bezel off completely!
I am thinking about purchasing the Aspire V3 572 5217 and would like to know about the process of adding an optical drive. I have done some research and pretty much assume that the majority are universal. I would like to know if the product itself comes with a bezel or if I have to purchase one. If so, what steps do I do to make the right arrangements?
Today I went to lift up laptop and pinched the LCD a little to hard and ended up cracking it right under the mounting screw.I have a white stripe about 2 inches wide, down the middle of the screen. Dumb I know.. I was wondering what the best thing to do is? Buy a replacement lcd or just get an external display since it is going on three years old.
i have had 2 problems with my Z for a while and im fed up because its out of warranty and sony will not fix it.
1. The Right hinge i believed is messed up so it does not close correctly. Due to this the right side of the lcd bezel has become cracked on the bottom right i believe because of the tension. (check the pictures). I have to keep a clip on the right bottom side to hold the LCD in place.
2. The notebook is really really hot. Especially using the nvidia. When running any 3d game it takes less than 10 minutes for the temps to get ridiculous on the cpu and gpu. It just turns off when it gets to like 103 or something. Im not sure if its the gpu or cpu but i think they share the same copper pipe for heat. Im going to put arctic silver on both of the chips if i can and clean everything out really good.
My main issue is the hinge. Im not even sure if it is repairable. If it isnt repairable where and how should I go about getting a new Hingle and LCD bezel.
Our 1525 is 6 months old and my daughter opened the laptop at college to find the the LCD screeen had an internal crack just at the top middle directly underneath the webcam. The laptop was sitting on her desk and the previous evening was fine.
Dell is claiming that it was customer damaged and will not cover under the normal warranty. Unfortunatley I did not purchase the extended warranty.
I have read a number of similar internal crack issues with 1525's online and would like to know if it's possible to escalate this to someone at Dell who could approve the repair.
Only when this laptop (and its wireless card) are "on" does the LCD display screen generate a cracked appearance which is obviously related to a light behind the screen?
The screen itself is not cracked; therefore does this Inspiron 1100 require a full new screen, or a light source which is broken?
I have the 16.0" diagonal High Definition HP Ultra BrightView Infinity Display (1920x1080p) and the outside glass has couple marks on it. I would like to replace this.
Where can I find brand new replacement parts?
Also, I need to replace the keyboard, chrome keyboard bezel and outer chrome cover (on the left hand side of the laptop, around the VGA port). Where can I find brand new replacement parts?
Unfortunately, I did not purchase the accidental damage coverage. The laptop has not been dropped or abused and is under the so-called 12 month warranty. I have read online similar cases of new 1525 LCD’s developing cracks (see below a copied post from Amazon).
I am furious that Dell is failing to admit either this is a design problem with the frame or a faulty LCD panel or perhaps there was a manufacturing process blunder during assembly.
Are there any forum members who have successfully convinced someone at Dell to honor the warranty in a case like this? Is there a best approach to elevating my dispute? My daughter really wanted a Mac and now of course I am a knucklehead as highlighted by Dell's excellent customer care and design engineering.
I have a friend who owns an Inspirion 1520 and it is obvious the frame is far heavier and structurally more rigid than the cheap plastic case on the 1525. At the moment, I’m the screwed customer and Dell has a college freshman on a campus of 35,000 kids who will be bad mouthing Dell for years to come. Dell also has a few other kids who own 1525’s in the same dorm who are experiencing quality issues and the brand is taking a beating. Thanks in advance for your comments .....
It is a Refurb, but I have had very good luck with their refurbs. I am typing on a XPS M1530 Refurb that is flawless.
Anyways, I got the Mini 9 yesterday from FedEx but got home so late that I decided to wait till today to open up the box. Box is in fine shape. Laptop is not. It looks like it is cracked behind the screen. Lots of dead/broken pixels in both horizontal and vertical lines.
Worst part about it? (And I KNOW it was stupid move on my part, but I ordered a Runcore 32GB and 2GB of ram that I will be getting tomorrow, should have waited until I knew the laptop was good).
So what should I expect in the exhange process? I am going to press to do a cross-ship (I know they do this for XPS's).
Aspire 7720-6604 Monitor Cracked. Is it easy to replace or should I send to shop? Where can I purchase a replacement and is there a special software to set it up again?
The LCD screen on my 6 month old Sony FW laptop is toast. It looks like a window that was hit by a speeding baseball (only worse). The laptop itself still works, but it is unusable due to the broken screen.
Questions:
1. To get it fixed, should I go through Sony or a third party? (anyone know the best phone number to call for help?)
2. Should I have the work done for me or should I order a new LCD and attempt to fix it myself?
3. I have an XBRITE-HiColor screen. How can I be sure that the screen I am getting/ordering is indeed a HiColor LCD and not an Eco?
I have an Acer 5710. The screen has cracked where the webcam should be. There is no support at all behind the top of the screen. It flexes in to empty space due to there being no rear support. Can anybody confirm if there should be a top support fitted if no webcam is there.
I recently dropped my laptop from about a foot from the ground and the cylinder that connects the laptop to the lcd has cracked in 3 spots (1 major and two really tiny cracks) It seems as if the actual hinge to the lcd is still in good condition however. I have the extended warranty however I didn't buy the accidental damage protection. . The power button/cylinder had gotten dislodged a few months ago and i figure I can get these both fixed at the same time. . . Does anyone know how much sony would charge to fix/ know a way to get them to do the repairs for free?
I was trying to clean up my laptop inside since it was making too much noise and got hot very quickly. Reading around it could be due to bad air flow.
So when I took out my harddrive, i cracked a hard drive connecter. Now I am getting no disk found when I power up the laptop. Not sure why hp made this of plactic and so fragile. Even Acer has solid metal connecter. 10 year old Toshiba laptop has better disign. My drive connecter is from SUYIN and number is 78352.
Question is has anybody ran into this problem and sucessful in chagning only the connector. Looks like I might have to change the whole motherboard. It is only 1 year and would like to avoid sending it to HP if I can.
