I was wondering if there was anybody here that might know where Sigmatel Audio Chip is located on the VAIO SZ1XX series. It can only be in 1 of 3 places; the main board, the PWB Board (Speakers attach here), or the CNX Board (Where audio jacks are located)
View 4 RepliesI was playing a game and suddenly the game crashed and it jumped into windows ,an icon appeared saying display driver stopped working ,i entered the game again game crashed this time it restarted the system, now the system cant even show the VAIO and phoenix logo. its full of lines with extremely low resolutions,as i try to enter windows blue screen shows up and it restart the system auto. i entered safe mode and i found out ASA i uninstall the nvidia driver(8400M GT),the windows start up.Now the driver is uninstalled and i can work in windows,but in very low setting,like i am having onboard graphic chip,i cant modify my graphic card and the chip and DAC type are all unavaiable,(instead i have unknow device in my device manager) i think i need to flash my BIOS, but i searched the internet for my bios couldnt find anything,i think i need to do it manual.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have recently purchased a new i5 vaio S from bestbuy. the first one that I got had a squeaky keyboard so I returned it for another. Both of these brand new computers audio randomly glitch out after about 20ish minutes of listening to music. This happens with both headphones and using the laptop speakers. I can only describe the sound as if you tazer'd a robot... its the weridest noise I have heard and only last for a second and then music continues to play. This happens with music on my computer, youtube videos, ect...

In the driver window it says Max number of channels 2/ HDCP not supported.
When I play a channel mapping wav file, everything is mapped to the front of my system.
Im using the Nvidia Vista driver that originally came with the system. Because every other driver I find is useless. Amazing that Sony is so behind as far as Windows 7 driver support.
So I guess my question is:
is anyone in a similar situation having more success than me -and how?
I would like to listen 24bit music from my Vaio to the iBasso D10 portable amp which I'm going to purchase. This has a USB connection which only supports audio up to 16bit 44.1khz, but through the digital inputs (optical or coaxial) it supports 24bit input.
The Vaio FW11S only has an analogue headphone jack, and a HDMI output. Is it possible to get 24bit digital audio from my HDMI output to the digital inputs on the iBasso?
Is there a HDMI > optical or HDMI > coaxial converter/cable/plug/etc. available, and what would be a very good quality one?

Trying to get rid of these questionably useful programs -- but I don't see entries for them in add/remove programs in the control panel (or for any of the other useless VAIO software packages that come on OEM machines sans "fresh start")

Have an hp dv9428nr. The video chip was going out. Hp covered it under warranty. I sent it in.I just got it back. They say the fixed the mb AND reimaged the hard drive! There was no reason for them to reimage the drive! Worst thing is my appraisal software and appraisals WERE on it.

The new Dell Wireless 5600 Mobile Broadband card is based on the Qualcomm Gobi chipset, and therefore supports all major NA carriers (CDMA and GSM/HSPA), and all global UMTS/HSPA bands.

I have just purchased an XPS15. I understand that the mSata drive (a Samsung 841 512GB) supports on-chip encryption, however I'm struggling a bit to understand how to enable this. I have read some posts which seem to suggest that it's as simple as going in to the BIOS and configuring the "HDD Password", option in the security section, however this seems just a little too easy (I was expecting to have to create a public/ private keypair or something to that effect).
How to authoritatively confirm whether this is indeed the correct way to configure encryption on the disk? Or is this just a basic BIOS level password which somehow protects the disk simply by virtue of the fact that it won't allow the machine to boot unless the correct password is entered?

I broke it connecting a wrong power adapter and now a need a small piece that is inside ; i think its a MOSFET transitor, and there are two of them in the motherboard (only one is break). View 13 Replies View RelatedI found a good deal on an E6400 which is perfect except that it comes with Dell Wireless 1397. I want the Intel 5100 for Linux compatibility, but I'd hate to pass up a good opportunity just because of the wireless chipset.
I have a few E6400s at work, and it looks like the whole underside needs to be unscrewed (and I won't test on them for obvious reasons)?
So I updated to Bios A09 hoping it would improve either my Wifi issues, my throttling issues, or my battery life issues.After the A09 update, my nVidia Graphics chip is no longer recognized, and therefore have lost my dual external monitor support. That may improve battery life I guess since the nVidia chip is now worthless and I'm forced to the Intel 4000. Not the change I was hoping for.
Is it possible to revert the A09 bios back to A06? Is this isolated to me, or was it just not QA'd at all by Dell?I worked around the wifi issue with a USB dongle, and am living with the battery life issues by getting less work done on airplane flights.Losing my multi-monitor support is killing my productivity. Also losing my patience with this machine and Dell in general.
I tried upgrading my Latitude's RAM using a 2MB chip first in the rear slot, and Win 7 didn't read any additional RAM (showing only 1GB). So I moved the 2MB chip to the MB under the keyboard and now it won't reboot. I tried to put the original RAM chips back in their respective slots (each 1MB RAM) but it still won't boot.
I guess I can't update the BIOS if it won't boot.
I downloaded the blue tooth stack and installed it, when it runs it says it cannot communicate with the blue tooth chip and aborts. I have turned all the necessary things in system setup for the internal blue tooth device but it still does not work. Isn't there supposed to be a blue tooth indicator on my laptop somewhere that should be on, if so I do not see it.

I have just been given a VAIO PCG8A2M (GRX316MP) , i was told "it's broken but if you can fix it yo can have it" so having a quick look at it there's no sign of life on the display but the lights come on and i can here the HDD heads moving about.
Looking a little more i found that all the ram is missing , so now im not sure if its worth buying some ram to see if it works or not ? The lack of ram would prob explain the lack of display but i wonder if i should be getting POST beeps at least, which im not.
So my question is if a VAIO had no ram should (if all else was working) it be getting POST beeps ?
Just performed a successful XP downgrade on my Vaio Z520, but have noticed that on this copy of the Vaio Silver Desktop Theme/Appearance doesn't exist.
I had it on my SZ and loved it over the XP Blue. Is there a way to get it back? I still have the restore discs from the SZ.
I don't know whats the diference (besides the price), between VAIO TZ295N & VAIO TZ395N. Specs in all the websites I've checked say they have exactly the same components: Intel coreduo 1.33Ghz 2GB RAM DVD-RW and 64GB SSD Hardrive. I was wonder if the diference might be in the hard drive interface, with the TZ295N being PATA and TZ395N being SATA.

The reason I'm asking is because I'm seriously thinking of selling my VAIO Z690 & just buying the base Sony VAIO Z (VPCZ112GX/S). I may just be able to afford that base model & the icing on the cake will definitely be the UJ-232A drive being able to fit into the (new) VAIO Z series & work.
I have a Dell Inspiron 1520 with 8600GT. I wanted to buy a 5.1 speaker set but it would be of no use as 1520 does not have 3 audio jacks while the 1525 and XPS 1530 has 5.1 output.
I was just wondering, if it was possible to somehow get an extra audio jack outside the laptop by checking if a header pin for a third audio jack exists on the motherboard since the audio chip is HD audio and motherboard design would be similar to 1525 and XPS 1530
I lot of people have openend up their systems and taken a look at the audio circuitry to fix the static noise coming from the headphone jacks. Did anyone notice if a third audio jack could be soldered to the motherboard to get 5.1 audio.
I installed the latest Realtek driver but did not notice any difference in sound from my Sony headphone (MDR 7506).

My budget is aroung 40000rupees. Thats around 800$. So suggest me a better one between these two for occasional moderate and less(mosltly) demanding games. I dont care whether its 14 or 15 inch.
Am looking at lower end versions of both the models.
Only difference is CW uses Nvidia Geforce 310 and the E series uses some Radeon 5000 series one. CW has 14 inch screen whereas E series has a 15.5 inch screen. In the models which i am looking at both have matte finish and both has WXGA:1366 x 768 VAIO Display.
which one should i go for. whether the screen quality will be on par to Inspiron one atleast? ( I dont need HD).
im planning on using the laptop for videos, photoshop and a bit of gaming, maybe even a bit more gaming :-)
The Vaio F Series only has 330M Nvidia Graphics Card with i7QM and up to 8GB of Ram and up to 256GB SSD.
The E Series has ATI 5650 (a less powerful version, reduced clock speed) combined with a i5 520M with up to 6Gb of Ram and up to 500GB of HDD ? Why can i not choose SSD ?
