Sony :: VGN-CR590C! Driver Related (Upgraded From Vista X86 > Win7 X64
Nov 5, 2009
I used to have Vista 32-bit on here and I recently upgraded to Windows 7 64-bit. The problem is that the Sony website doesn't release Windows 7 64-bit drivers for my model as it is only sold with Vista 32-bit.

As you can see, there is no drop down menu anywhere to select which operating system I have.
And here:

it says that Windows 7 is not supported. (I have ran the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor and my computer seemed to check out and pass all the system requirements.)
where all necessary driver updates for my computer are, as many things I've noticed either don't function the same or at all as they used to when I had Vista?
Here's a list of all the problems that I've noticed so far.
- Scroll on touch pad didn't work (Resolved by downloading Synaptics drivers)
- Plugging into the headphone jack didn't do anything (Resolved by downloading Realtek drivers but Windows Update keeps insisting I install their Realtek drivers which brought up the problem again)
- Volume buttons change the volume in very tiny increments and doesn't show the levels on screen (Major issue for me.)
- Doesn't support Dual/Multi Monitors
- Doesn't recognize MIDI Controllers (Resolved. Not sure how.)
- Card reader doesn't work. (Another major problem.)
- Webcam doesn't work. (Built-in mic seems to work fine.)
- "AV Mode" button does nothing (I've never had a use for this button but before it would make the whole screen go black.)
I recently bought a 500GB/7200 RPM hard drive to my laptop and I decided to install Windows RC 64 bit. Before doing the hard drive update, I had installed the 7 RC 32 bit since it came out.
Now, I can't recall when I had the 7 RC 32bit that the laptop's fan was running on full blast after sleep/stand-by. It is also loud when you start-up the computer from a restart or after a shut-down. The fan speeds down to a quiet speed/rpm after...I'd say 2-3 minutes.
I installed everything listed on HP's website for my laptop (drivers and such after installing 7 RC 64bit): [url]
I noticed that the Nvidia driver on HP's website was not a recent one, so I hopped on Nvidia's website to get a newer driver instead (186.03 I believe).
I have my laptop set to Power saving's mode and I only bump it to Balanced when I'm doing something heavy (like iTunes encoding, etc).
I did check to see if maybe my anti-virus program that's installed (avast...AVG didn't install when I went to 64) was doing scans or such, but it isn't. Well, actually I take that back...does avast do a very slow/quiet scan in the background? I see the HDD status light blinks steady, but when I pause avast, there is not steady blinking.
I moddified LV2GO nvidia 190.40 beta driver INF for VAIO notebooks. Vaio Brightness control is full working now.
I modded it for nvidia gf 9300m gs and tested on vaio vgn-cs with win vista 32bit but should be compatible with some of the newer VAIO models.
-h264 hardware GPU-decoding is supporing now (It utilizes only a few percent of the CPU)
Instalation:
1. If you already have an existing nVidia driver installed, uninstall it with its Uninstaller, then use Driver Sweeper to remove any remaining files/registry keys and reboot before you attempt to install this driver.
2. Overwrite the existing nv_disp.inf in 19040_win7x32.exe with my moddified v190.40 INF file.

if I can clean install Vista 32-bit or Win7 32-bit on current FW laptop, such as FW355 or FW378? FW comes pre-installed with Vista Home Premium 64-bit.
I want to buy FW, however I am using an application that runs only on 32-bit Windows. If I cannot run 32-bit Windows on FW it is kind of a deal breaker for me.
Now that I've got a F series here's a new thread with tested and working drivers and utils for a clean install. The SZ and AW drivers threads are still going strong with 1500+ and 500+ downloads respectively.
Drivers and Utilites are from US & EU VAIO Support. All drivers have been extracted to bypass the model version check.
How to Install
To install extract the archive to a folder, e.g C:drivers.Open Device Manager and right click through each device selecting "Update Driver Software". See pic Install_Step_1.jpgSelect "Browse my computer for driver software". See pic Install_Step_2.jpgBrowse to C:Drivers and make sure "Include subfolders" is checked and click Next. See pic Install_Step_3.jpg
If an updated driver is found it will be installed. Don't worry if an updated driver isn't found. Some devices don't need updates.....................
Driver and Utilites below are from VAIO FTP, US/EU VAIO Support and Intel Download Center. VAIO don't always post the same versions on their EU and US sites and new drivers aren't listed for older models even though they are compatiable. Sony are also slow to make the latest Intel drivers available. All drivers have been extracted to bypass the model version check, usually found on drivers from the US site.
How to Install
Most of the folders only contain the driver and *.inf files. I prefer to install drivers this way to prevent the installation of software I'll never use.

I running a z690 with win7, and my blu ray drive isn't visibile, don't have the correct driver for the Mata bd-mlt uj232as, and the z590 driver from sony's site won't install because its not a z5-series. Any advice? or anyone have the driver from there Vista64bit?
If anyone is curious, Windows7 is really smooth and quick compared to the Vista64bit, and only running 60 processes after everything got installed.
Does anyone with VAIO Z and installed with win7 x64 notice the fingerprint driver have a little problem?
See the system log after boot the system, Log Name: System Source: Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-PnP Date: 2009/12/17 22:32:13 Event ID: 219 Task Category: (212) Level: Warning Keywords: User: SYSTEM Computer: Henry-VAIO Description: The driver DriverWUDFRd failed to load for the device USBVID_147E&PID_10005&899163b&0&1...
I've installed win7(32-bit) on my FZ21S and all seems to be working smoothly. A couple of issues have popped up though.
1. SFEP driver- I've downloaded the latest win7 version from the FTP, and also have a back-up, and cannot for the life of me figure out how to install it. I went to the device manager, (as some1 reccomended) under Human Interface Devices- and it isnt present.
I've also managed to get the recovery disks running half way- by this I mean- Im able to get inside the application and select SFEP to be installed. It begins, and then prompts me to put disk2 in...that is where it hangs, and eventually crashes.
2. Ive got the volume controls (round controller near AV mode) working, as well as the FnMute button.
However, I cant seem to get the Fn keys for brightness working.
3. And finnally, the AV mode and S1 buttons are non-functional.
I have just installed win7 64bit on my FZ290. Everything worked perfectly except i could not find the driver for touchpad. I ve read all different posts in this forum, found many helpful info for installing win7, but i just cant find the way to get this touchpad working like before, i mean the scroll bar on the top and right side of the touchpad which allow me to scroll the page, going back a page without click a key
Have looked at hours worth of posts regarding the camera, win7, etc. Does anybody have a direct link to the proper camera driver for a z690 running windows 7 x64? Also, if you have a link for 32 bit that would help with the 'ole lady's laptop too.
Anybody else install an Intel SSD into their Z? Just installed a G2 160gb drive a few days ago and holy s. it flys, but I do have some concerns about *low (200-205MBPS Max Seq Read) benchmark scores in HD Tune. We should start a seperate thread on the Z and aftermarket SSD drives.
However, poking around the European Vaio link site I've found a couple of news: first an updated Graphics driver here, but also poking around (in the Originally Installed section) saw an updated Alps Pointing device driver. The version I have installed is 7.2.* while the one for the VGN-Z51XG is a 7.5.*. Downloading the driver I could see that it supports two finger browsing, pinching to zoom and a couple of other features.
Nifty I thought; however I cannot install the driver in my computer - it says "Your operating system is not supported".
Has anyone else tried this? I thought that the pointing HW in all Vaio Zs was the same? Surely Alps cannot build a driver that only works in Win 7 x64 Professional but not Ultimate?
Can someone with a Win7 x64 Professional try to install the driver and then report back with both succcess or failure?
I have an SR-190 CTO which I've had since last September. Every time I take the laptop off the docking port, it is scorching hot. Has anyone else noticed this? And when I took the laptop off tonight, the battery was at < 10% even though it had been on the dock for a couple hours. I also cannot for the life of me remove the battery...I'm really hoping it's not melted to the laptop or something.
Has anyone else had related issues with the SR docking port? I'm still in the 1-year (though I also have an extended warranty), but this sort of problem really )@#%*s me off.
When I run off the battery, my windows glitch when minimized, maximized, or dragged across the screen. Everything is fine if left stationary, but when I move them it causes the glitching.

I just got vista ultimate fro my xps m1730 specs intel core 2 extreme processor 4GB RAM nvidia gforce 8800 gtx SLI I need to know what special drivers do i need.. I have fps drops going from 70 to 30 every 2 min. Would greatly be appriciated if you guys give me a link for the little lcd monitor i cant find the driver. I'm such a nub.
I have installed vista 64 but in the process had to format the hard drive. I have downloaded a few bits from acer website but cannot find a lot of other stuff.
I need the arcade thing to play blu ray films, nti backup thing, nti dvd writing software. Basically all the software apart from the games.
I'm using hp pavilion g6 2231tx notebook pc i upgraded to windows 8.1 from 8. Then the bluetooth driver is missing i tried to re install from recovary manager but of no use
Would like to get my ducks in a row as to doing this and see if there's some problems i don't know about or better ideas of how to go about it. Hp Pavilion Dv6 - vista 32bit
1)Have a new mobo on its way,4650 GPU mobo, taking out a 4530 GPU mobo. As i understand i install the mobo and reboot using the F11 key which will hopefully have the system recognise the new mobo ok & install vista 32 all back to system default OR let me create recovery disc's with the new mobo "tattoo" recognised to do the same. Correct or not?
2) The FREE upgrade to Win7 cost's $39 to ship to South Africa + waiting time so i'm probably just going to buy a retail copy of Win 7 and install the 64bit version. Installing that will no doubt reformat the HD removing whatever HP has put there so before i do that should i collect what win7 drivers i can and drop them on a usb drive prior or do you think win7 will be able to load enough drivers to allow me to download drivers once its installed?
3)Is there any things HP have got hidden on the HD that reformatting is going to cause an issue with?
This one has a newer CCC and display driver than the last. Download is up at: ftp://ftp.dell.com/video/R258233.exe
Display driver is only slightly newer. 8.683.2.1 is the version number. Originally released for "Studio Laptop - 1458" with Radeon 5430 and 5450 graphics. Supports:

Wondering if anyone has some recommendations on what drivers to use with this configuration. I have the Dell 5530 Broadband modem and the broadcom swipe sensor without drivers.
I can't seem to get the Vista x64 versions to install.
Is dell control point recommended or not? I have the beta versions of the nVidia drivers and they seem OK. Are there any other Dell drivers that are recommended that work in Win7 x64 or should I just wait for Dell to put some up on the support site?
After I have been installed the webcam driver and its webcam central, windows 7 didn't start anymore and get "blue screen" with this error code: 0xc000000e
and it say that one of the devices is inaccessible. So I assume it's due to the webcam installation.
The only solution was to reinstall Windows7.
How can I install this webcam driver so windows will could be start, and won't crash at the boot process.
I know a few people have installed Win7 on their Lattitudes and Precisions ...
I decided to try out a clean install but as I work through the driver installs I get stuck at the chipset drivers which refuse to install, saying "This operating system is not supported .....
