Sony :: VGN-NR110E/S Hard Drive Replacement
Feb 27, 2010steps to replace a hard drive on a Sony VGN-NR110E/S.
View 4 Repliessteps to replace a hard drive on a Sony VGN-NR110E/S.
View 4 RepliesI replaced the 40 GB hard drive that came with my VGN-B100B with a Western Digital 250 GB drive. When I installed Windows XP Professional on it, the partition was only 127 GB. The WD drive is a PATA, which I understand to be synonymous with EIDE, which should work on this computer. Is there a limit to how large a hard drive this computer will recognize?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI got a VGN-NR260E to fix and the HDD is reporting problems, now most laptops I've worked on have a HDD panel on the bottom, not this one, and Im thinking I have to take it apart fully.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI would like to purchase a Z590 which is currently configured with a SSD Raid of 60GBX2
I was hoping I could break the raid configuration and use one SSD for OS and other for data.
But 60gb for data might be less. Can I replace both SSDs with
1 2.5" SSD and 1 250 GB standard SATA notebook hard drive

The hard drive arrived today. I decided that before I begin putting my drive image on the new drive that I check to see if it'll fit. I open it up and take the drive out and to my surprise I see that the drive that was inside the laptop had some kind of pin-connectors.
The Seagate laptop did not. I took off the caddy that was holding the hard drive, but I noticed that the pin connectors were a part of the hard drive itself.
So this has left me rather perplexed. I looked online and found caddies and SATA connectors for a dv6000 laptop but they were going for around $35.
Is this normal or am I just missing something here? Should I have ordered a different drive?
My laptop is a Pavilion dv6500t purchased October, 2007.
I want a 7200 500GB drive in the E6400 that I plan to purchase..
Dell doesnt offer a drive this big.
These drives are quite cheap these days. So i will get the the E6400 with an 80GB and swap it out with an aftermarket 7200 500GB.
Im hoping to use the OS disk that comes with the machine to install Vista on the new drive.
I have an XPS M1330 with a faulty hard drive. The warranty has just expired (2 weeks ago) and Dell were not able to give me the part number to buy a replacement hard drive myself.
Do you know if these notebooks would accept any standard 2.5" SATA drive?
OR are the laptops BIOS protected or have some other Flag set on them so that the laptop would only recognise drives from certain manufacturers
I received a replacement hard drive, but the description says it is a 250GB 5400 RPM hard drive. The hard drive I have on the system is 250 GB 7200 RPM. I also checked further specifications on the internet.
The replacement Toshiba 250GB hard drive (MK2552GSX) has 8mb buffer while the hard drive currently on the system Seagate 250 GB (ST9250421ASG ) has 16mb buffer.
Has anyone receieved a weaker hard drive as a replacement. I have to return one of them as part of the warranty service
I have a M6300 that has a 80GB hard drive that I would like to replace.
I am looking for the largest size possible with good read/write speeds
I'm currently having issues with a HP Envy dv7, I'm currently running windows 8.1.
I had a little of trouble with my original hard drive (physical damage) and had to replace it, obviously I lost my HP recovery partition and all the extra drivers that come with it,is there any way to get them? And also i can't seem to use my Biometric device since I don't have HP simeple pass , I tried downloading one from other post but it didn't work.
Installed replacement hard drive in Latitude E6510. Ordered same drive as originally installed from Dell. When I try to install OS on new drive I get the "No Boot Device Found" error. When I enter set up the HDD and DVD drive are shown as installed. I changed the boot sequence to have the DVD run as first boot device.
View 1 Replies View Relatedif you can take apart a Sony Z and replace the optical drive with a standard hard drive? Would the older tutorial here be the same way you can take apart a new sony Z or how do you think you could get in there?

Or is that a different model? I don't suppose there's a new tutorial out for the new Zs as they just came out.
On another note - I heard you're suppose make a new connector for the hard drive because the Sony Z uses microSATA or uSATA or something like that for their optical drives. There isn't a connector that you can readily purchase now.
who opened I believe Z and connected a hard drive to dvd drive connector while leaving dvd drive in for cosmetic reasons. Can't find this thread. Where exactly can the hard drive go? Inside the tray?
I am afraid there will be too much vibration if I put regular HD there. For this reason I would rather put there SSD but is there a way to make this a primary OS drive? Seems like last bios allows to boot from optical drive.
So I want to buy this Sony Z laptop... but they charge too much for the 320 GB upgrade ($250).. I can get it off new egg for $90 shipped [url]
Only difference is this G-Sensor Business... Is that a motherboard feature or controlled by the drive its-self?
Does anyone know which brand/model drive they use in the Sony Z? How many drives fit in the Z?
I have a VGN-FZ4000 Sony laptop. I installed a new Hatachi 250gb hard drive. How do I get my laptop to recognize the new hard drive
View 4 Replies View Relateddoes it support the SATA 3.0gb/s hard drives?
looking at these in particular: ...
I currently have an FE790p. After a few years of use, its getting a bit slow, and I would really like to upgrade to Windows 7 (currently running Vista Business). I get Windows 7 for free through my school, and rather than simply upgrading, I want to do a clean install. I also want to upgrade my current 120GB 5400RPM HDD to a new, bigger 7200RPM HDD.
Is it possible to simply buy a larger drive, install it, and then boot up the computer with windows 7 from a USB flash drive? I'm not sure if this would work, as there would be no drivers present, etc.
I would really like to be able to just keep my old hard drive and all of its contents, and possibly use it as sort of an external hard drive. Is this possible? Furthermore, if I can keep the old hard drive, is there a way to connect it as an external hard drive, and still boot from it?
my laptop hard drive stop working is not recognized by the OS indicate no hd found, therefore i need to replace it. but i do not know how to do it. how to remove the hd, how to find it, etc.
View 3 Replies View Relatedi noticed my computer only has a maximum of 287 GB while it is advertised as 320 GB. Is this because something is taking up the rest of the space(ie: OS)? But even so would it really take that much space and shouldn't the hard drive in Local disk (C properties still say it's out of 320 GB?
View 5 Replies View Relatedsony is being sony and wont honor warranty. they say the dent in my chassis (happened 8 months ago) has affected the hard drive so they wont honor warranty. i am furious. i want to use this laptop. what do i do? and the preloaded software was on drive and now not avaialbe.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI purchased a VGN-SR430J/B and I cleaned it with killdisk and installed windows 7 32bit.
This model comes with a 320GB HDD, yet when I go to my computer it says that I have 273GB free of 287GB total. So I assume the 14GB (287-273) being used is somehow the 2.5 GB Windows 7 32bit. But 320 - 287 is 33GB, where did it go? Where can I look?
I have a Vaio with a damaged hard drive. I need to replace it, but don't know what to replace it with... I've looked online but can't seem to locate the specs of the hard drive. VGN-TXN15P

I contacted them, and apparently it should be compatible with the new Z.
I have a Sony Vaio SR190 with a 160gb@5400 rpm hard drive. I really want to upgrade this with more capacity. I have two main questions:
1) What Hard Drive brand is the best? I was looking at the Western Digital Scorpio and the Seagate Momentus, but I want suggestions on the BEST.
so does the Vaio F have a second bay? I'd really like to throw in a SSD to boost the boot time
View 3 Replies View RelatedI was thinking about upgrading to a 7200 RPM hard drive for my VAIO SR190.
I'm sure this voids warranty, but in the event that you need to send the laptop to Sony, couldn't you just put the original back in and they wouldn't notice?
I was wondering if it was easy to crack open and upgrade the CD-ROM drive to another hard drive instead. Since customizing a TT is hellaciously expensive and the hard drives they offer are slow and not big enough -I would rather supply my own parts than what they have in stock
