Sony :: Verizon/bluetooth
Apr 13, 2010
A couple of weekends ago I did a fresh install of Win 7 Ultimate.
In my device manager I don’t show Bluetooth or anything related to Verizon.
I’ am not using either one at this point but am a little curious as to why neither of these 2 hardware devices show up on device manager anyone with an answer as to why? I tried to install the Bluetooth but it was as though the device never existed.

I have had my txn-15p for a couple of years now, and it's starting to get old. I am looking at the TT series, but the problem is that they have switched the WAN to Verizon instead of sprint, while I am not contractually obligated to sprint, I still have fully unlimited data plan instead of the limited to 5gb that both sprint and verizon now use. My question is the WAN module in the TT series( specifically 190 custom order) soldered on the board or is it a mini-pci card that can be "easily" switched out with say the mini pci card from a u720 aircard. also has anyone disassembled a TT series.

This is probably going to sound like a stupid question, but are the 5720 Broadband cards "locked" to a specific carrier?
Meaning can I give the ESN of the card to either Verizon OR Sprint, and have it work?
Looking to go the cheap route and get a 5720 off eBay, but I don't want to get stuck with a Sprint locked card when I want to use the Verizon service.

Dell has sent me 3 E6400 computers and all of them fail when using the docking station and then the BUILT IN Verizon card. I have more than 50 hours with technical support.
Finally they put me with their top tier support. You will not believe their answer! I would never belive it if it wasn't in writing so I am going to copy it here for you .....

Has anyone here tried pairing their new Z1190 with an iPhone? So far all my attempts have been unsuccessful. Generally it looks like that:
1) Setting BT to "ON" on both the Z and the iPhone
2) Selecting "Add a Bluetooth device" in the Control Panel
3) The iPhone shows up on the list and I click "Next"
4) The phone displays a pop-up with the passcode -> I select "Pair"
5) The laptop shows the same code and I click OK.............

I want to disable bluetooth, like how I do it with my dell, in the dell, I just go into control panel => bluetooth devices => bluetooth settings,
and then on the first tab, there's an option to "show system tray icon" and "disable bluetooth adapter".. when the system tray icon is enabled, I can right click on the icon and select "disable bluetooth adapter

I've had my Vaio since 2007 with Windows Vista Business installed. For a time, the Bluetooth adapter worked perfectly and I was able to connect to my phone,
whatever. For the past year or so it stopped working and I could not turn it on in the wireless switching utility. I attempted installing different drivers with no avail.
Since then, I installed Windows 7 Pro x64 and had hoped that it would remedy the situation. No such luck. I've installed the
Toshiba stack as listed in a post concerned with a Win7 64 bit install on the FZ-190, but it fails to install the drivers saying "Plug in or turn on Bluetooth adapter

after seeing that Sony had updated it's drivers page with Windows 7 drivers, I decided to take the plunge and install Windows 7 on my VGN-Z590.
Everything worked out fine, and seamlessly (well, except video, that one got a little weird for a bit, but I eventually figured that out), except for one thing.
I have a Sony SRS-BTM30 Bluetooth speaker. This used to work just fine with my VGN-Z590, when I was running Vista on it, but now that I've installed Windows 7, it refuses to connect.
I can pair it just fine, it shows up amongst my bluetooth devices, but unlike previously, it does not show up in the list of "Playback Devices" (in the Windows 7 mixer/audio controls), and if I go to Audio tab of the Windows 7 Bluetooth Settings, it shows up in the list of devices, but if I select it and click on Connect, it will flash "Connecting" for a second, then return to its previous "Disconnected" state without connecting.
So, I was wondering if anyone else had any similar experiences with their Bluetooth gear.
Also I am wondering what Bluetooth driver you guys (people who have upgraded their Zs to Windows 7) are using? I noticed that there are no Bluetooth drivers listed in the Sony eSupport site for the VGN-Z590's Windows 7 drivers. I tried, uninstalling the Bluetooth drivers that came along from my previous OS (Vista) install, during the Windows 7 upgrade process and tried reinstalling the Windows Vista Broadcom drivers for the VGN-Z590, but that didn't seem to make a difference.

I am having trouble with my bluetooth adapter on my Vaio FZ260e. The hardware is not functioning, I goto device manager and it dosen't even read that it is installed. I know it used to be, because I have used it to transfer files between computers. When I check the specs for my computer , it reads that there is a bluetooth antenna installed.| Link for specs |. Does anybody know any possible fixes?
I have also tried reinstalling drivers, also not successful.

I am planning to buy a bluetooth mouse for my Vaio FW. On ebay, the most listings of BT mice are devices manufactured by Microsoft, DPI, Sony, Logitech, Hewlett Packard, Dell, IOGear, and Kensington.
Which brand(s) of bluetooth mice would you recommend for use with the Sony? (participate in the poll above)

After much decided on what laptop to get, I bought a CW on Wednesday. I couldn't be done with all the Norton and McAffe crap, so reinstalled Windows 7 using one of the brilliant guides on here. All the drivers have gone back on perfectly (the GT 330M drivers, HDMI, FN keys and everything), all apart from the bluetooth drivers. I've tried reinstalling the drivers, and even tried enabling bluetooth through SmartWi (didn't want to install it, but decided I had to to try - to no avail), but no luck. Saying that though, USB bluetooth adapters work flawlessly. Anyone got any idea how I can get the built-in bluetooth to work?

I did a clean install of Vista a few weeks back and I decided not to install the SmartWi application. Is there a way to turn off the Bluetooth in order to get longer battery life? I have just been disabling the Bluetooth in the device manager.
I also disabled the 'Bluetooth Software' from the startup items, but the bluetooth icon still appears after a restart. Does this signify that it is on?

I think when I bought this machine I was told that it had Bluetooth. I have a Sony VAIO VGN-FW190EFH, and according to this specification sheet from Sony, it indeed does have Bluetooth.
I downloaded the latest driver from VAIO's support site, but when I tried to install it, it said that it couldn't detect a Bluetooth adapter!
I bought a Bluetooth mouse today but when I tried to connect it, my laptop is acting as if it doesn't have Bluetooth.
What should I do?

I may be over-reacting here, but I just realized that I can access the Internet from my VAIO FW490 via Bluetooth tethering using my LG Vu.
No special tools or software needed, except the Broadcom Bluetooth Driver from Sony eSupport. It's really quite handy if you plan to take your laptop on the road.
Here is a simple guide.

I recently bought a Sony Bluetooth mouse and on the packaging it says that the provided batteries could last for three months. I'm confused on how this is supposed to be used. Does it mean that it will last three month even if I leave it on and connected all the time? I have my laptop docked and it stays on 24/7. If I leave this mouse connected with the laptop, will it still last three months?
In the mouse settings window of the Control Panel, under Bluetooth, the mouse shows only 85% charge remaining after only 4 days of the type of usage described above!

My Bluetooth keyboard goes to sleep after a period of idle and it takes 15 seconds for the Acer Aspire 1810T to wake up and notice the Bluetooth keypresses.
However, I found out my Bluetooth keyboard works reliably when I have a second Bluetooth device connected and active at the time (such as either a headset or bluetooth tethering to a cellphone as modem), the computer doesn't have a 15 second lag in noticing the Bluetooth keyboard again - the keyboard works almost right away even after being unused for sometime.
So that means the culprit is in the power management on the Acer Bluetooth module. Is there a way to force the Bluetooth module to never go to sleep? Any checkbox somewhere, a register setting? Even going as far to purchase a different Bluetooth driver? Or any other option? Sometimes the sleep is useful, but it definitely isn't useful with the Bluetooth keyboard. This problem does not happen if I use an external Bluetooth dongle.
(With BatteryBar Pro, I notice that power consumption falls suddenly whenever the Bluetooth module goes to sleep when the keyboard goes idle for more than 30 seconds, and at this point, it has difficulty 'waking up' when I start typing on the Bluetooth keyboard. But the problem also still happens when the laptop is plugged in!)
