I am trying to just start over with a clean install of Win7 64 bit.
I get windows installed, then install a few drivers to resolve the device manager reported things that are missing.
Then I try to install the Sony Shared Library. When I do this, after it's done, I get the "did this install correctly?" dialog. Did it? I don't know -- it's a clean install of the OS, and these are the installers right from the sony site -- is that supposed to happen? How can I tell if it really got installed?
I just did a clean install of windows 7 64 bit that I got from my university on my CR4000 and have a few minor driver problems. Before anyone asks, I know my comp only came with a 32bit version of vista, but I checked and hardware wise it is fully cabible of running 64 bit. The install went well and things are working fine (really liking windows 7 so far) but after the install my Fn keys on my keyboard aren't working and the volume buttons work but don't show up on the screen like they used to. The sd card slots didn't work but i found a driver that works with them. Does anyone know how to get the Fn buttons to work, and is it even possible on windows 7 or a 64 bit os? and scrolling on the touch pad doesnt work.
I have a Sony Vaio Z790J. I recently tried to install Windows 7 x64 (from msdn) onto my Vaio. It always gets through the install but the second time it reboots (when it tries to start the services, etc) I go straight to a BSOD.
I tried changing ACHI, RAID, IDE, none of those make a difference. Has anyone seen this? Of course I blasted my backup partition too so I can't restore Vista x64. Nice move on my behalf
I got a VGN-NS130 but it won't let me install windows..
It keeps saying the computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an error and then there's an option to click "OK" to restart the computer and the installation again. But even when I click it, it still brings up that same window.
I guess it's because I turned on the computer before charging it and it turned off when it ran out of the batteries, so....
how to get these working? I know the folks here got it working for the AR but the same install insturctions dont work for FW. I also a post earlier about a guide for installing XP but it did not work.
After installing Win7 Home Premium 64bit on my Vaio TT11WN/B laptop, everything seemed to be working fine, except automatic display sensor which I couldn't manage to fix at all.
Recently, I also discovered that in-built Microphone is not working as well while attempted to use Skype. I installed correct 64bit graphics and audio drivers, downloaded from Sony support sites.
I want to install Windows 7 on my UK Sony VGN-Z11VN, however, cannot find the Windows 7 drivers inc Globetrotter WWAN driver.
People are discussing newer Z models in other threads and cannot find much info about installing it on the Z11 and I'm sure lots of Z11 owners also want to install Windows 7.
Therefore I'm creating this dedicated thread for us Z11 owners how to install Windows 7.
I have a problem with the docking station for my Sony Z-11, the Z11 itself doesn't have a DVI out, but the docking station does, however with windows 7 the docking station dvi port doesn't work anymore.
How do I fix it? Is there some drivers I need to install, otherwise Win 7 works perfectly on the laptop. Just think there must be something I'm missing, and google doesn't help.
it has the mata bd-mlt uj230as basically the blu-ray drive......
I was wondering if anyone has the correct driver for this because I can't seem to play any blurays and can't burn anything with it, it just works like a normal dvd drive, does nothing else
I did a clean install so i need the firmware, I tried all the links on this forum and can only find the UPDATE for the driver not the original install..........
i just reinstalled winxp sp3 on a sony s3xp, i don't have the vaio installation cd but i did a clean reinstall of windows xp and installed essential drivers but it was quite slow, eg seconds to load a directory, or long pauses during web browsing
now i've installed all the original drivers and utilities and am running without power saving but it's still sluggish, eg the mouse pointer jumps about the screen rather than moves continuously when the cpu is under any load at all
I have a tt series VGN-TT190 notebook and after installed windows 7 the auto dimmer, and the noise cancelling doesn't work. I called sony and they don't know how to fix it either- they told me to live with it.
My Y580 should be arriving shortly. I got it on the Black Friday Special and it comes with Windows 8. I bought a SSD to replace the HDD and I am wanting to downgrade it to a fresh install of Windows 7 Ultimate or Pro and I have a couple questions:
How to do this for the Y580? I have not been able to locate one.
Also I am assuming I would not want to use the Windows 8 device drivers correct? Do I use the Windows 7 device drivers?
Would use the drivers from the Lenovo site or each devices specific website? I am going to try to save them on a DVD in advance and want to be prepared.
Which series is better? The B series is for business. This series is only 5.9lbs with 15.4'. On the other hand, the CW series is around 5.5 lbs and it is only 14'. What do you think? Have you ever try B series? 15.4' is pretty good for movie.
I've buyed months ago a Lenovo G50-70 with Windows 8.1, I don't usually need Windows so I removed it to install a Linux distro. Now I need to reinstall Windows, but I think I've formatted also the recovery partition and when I buyed the laptop there weren't Recovery Disks.
I really enjoy the big screen, large HD and fast CPU. And what appears to be a Sony exclusive, a R/W Blu-Ray drive. I watched eagerly at the AW series, thinking that I might pull the trigger on the 'next' laptop in this series.
But as you know, it never came...
So I took a look at the F series at some of the local computer shops (e.g. Fry's and Micro Center)
What does that look like to you? We're thinking an updated Vaio P given that stretched form factor. The previously unheard of Vaio model PCG-11111L is definitely a Sony of some sort complete with CDMA850 and CDMA1900 courtesy of Qualcomm's Gobi silicon .....
Recently I bought the NW series Vaio, the VGN-NW265F to be exact. I hooked up the laptop to my TV via HDMI cable in order to watch
a blu-ray movie and I can notice right away that the quality of the image is what is in question here. I know that PS3 and the blu ray movies playing in
why the CW is no longer available? my dell broke over christmas and I was hoping to get this computer before my school break is over at the end of january...
