Mar 23, 2010Now that I've got a F series here's a new thread with tested and working drivers and utils for a clean install. The SZ and AW drivers threads are still going strong with 1500+ and 500+ downloads respectively.
Drivers and Utilites are from US & EU VAIO Support. All drivers have been extracted to bypass the model version check.
How to Install
To install extract the archive to a folder, e.g C:drivers.Open Device Manager and right click through each device selecting "Update Driver Software". See pic Install_Step_1.jpgSelect "Browse my computer for driver software". See pic Install_Step_2.jpgBrowse to C:Drivers and make sure "Include subfolders" is checked and click Next. See pic Install_Step_3.jpg
If an updated driver is found it will be installed. Don't worry if an updated driver isn't found. Some devices don't need updates.....................

May 9, 2009Driver and Utilites below are from VAIO FTP, US/EU VAIO Support and Intel Download Center. VAIO don't always post the same versions on their EU and US sites and new drivers aren't listed for older models even though they are compatiable. Sony are also slow to make the latest Intel drivers available. All drivers have been extracted to bypass the model version check, usually found on drivers from the US site.
How to Install
Most of the folders only contain the driver and *.inf files. I prefer to install drivers this way to prevent the installation of software I'll never use.

Dell XPS 17 L702X :: How To Use The Drivers And Utilities Disc To Get The Drivers For The Hardware
Jan 1, 2015I have an XPS 17 L702X. I just did a re-install of windows 7 on my wife's laptop. How do I use the drivers and utilities disc to get the drivers for the hardware on this computer? I can't get online on it. I do have the discs.

Oct 29, 2009I've installed Windows 7 on my SZ650N and it is working like a charm. Most drivers were automatically installed and now I get everything to work properly.
However, I have one question concerning the original sony utilities that came with vista. Actually, I'm trying to avoid as much as I can to install all of them. So far, I had to install Sony Utils Dll, Shared Library, Setting Utility Series and Event Service to get my FN keys to work.
Now, there are still several "to be installed":
1) Battery Care Function
2) Batery Checker
3) HDD Protection Utility
4) Video Shared library
5) Camera Capture utility
6) Camera Utility
7) Control Center
8) Power Management
9) Status Monitor
10) Hardware Diagnostics
My question is: what do you guys think it is really essential? I don't really want to increase the number of processes running so I can have fancy apps. that I'll almost never use.

Aug 21, 2009I have windows 7 RC installed on my VGN-SR 430J/B. I download Sony Notebook Utilities drivers. I got an error message that battery is not compatiblie, press OK to hibernate. I uninstalled it immediaty, but I may want to install it again. How can I avoid this?

Dell Vostro 1320 :: BIOS Recovery Command / Software Utilities?
Mar 21, 2011I have a Vostro 1320 that crashed during a bios update, Power/battery light still come on and the screens backlight comes on but it remains black, and shows absolutley nothing on the screen, not even that little white underscore, completely black.
Ive been looking around and from what ive found this dell has a phoenix BIOS and I have found people in forums who have successfully recovered from bad bios flashes such as mine but on different model dells. They used a program called "phoenix bios crisis recovery" however I can not find this program for download for my model laptop.
-a download link for this phoenix bios program for my vostro 1320 for making a bootable usb of new bios.
-The keyboard commands for my vostro 1320 to force a blind flash
(even if you cant find the phoenix bios recovery program knowing this command could work, should be something like windows key + b or function + b, It might work because although im fairly sure i need the phoenix bios recovery disc i might be able to reflash without it, I have already extracted the .wph and .rom files from the new bios im flashing and i might be able to get one of those to work for a reflash)...

Sony :: 's ATI Drivers
Jul 23, 2009My recently new purchased FW 490 JFT comes with ATI's Mobility 4650 1GB GPU.
I installed all the "latest" drivers from Sony however the ATI drivers they offer are version 8.5. The latest drivers out on ATI's website are now 9.7
Will Sony ever update their drivers? How can I get this card updated to the newest drivers? I already tried Mobility Modder and they don't support 4650 series..

Now when I go to Sony website and try download drivers and utilities factory installed with my Vaio TT21 XN/B it is not available. Only one way of reinstallation is recovery partition (or DVD's) or semi clean install. But question is how to install Windows 7 when it will be available without drivers? When Microsoft will lunch W7 I am going to upgrade but how I will can do that?

Create 3 folders c:efi-iso c:efi-exe c:efi-dvd
Download oscdimg.exe from [url] into c:efi-exe
Extract iso using 7Zip or WinRAR (Or copy the contents of the DVD) into c:efi-dvd
Start up a command prompt (Start -> Run -> cmd)
Type: cd c:efi-exe.............

Sep 3, 2009My computer froze recently and something failed on windows so I decided to reload Vista again. Unfortunately, I didn't have the recovery discs on me so I bought a copy of Vista Ultimate from my university. After installing though, none of my shortcut or "FN" buttons work and the wireless doesn't work either. The esupport website doesn't have any drivers available and the only option I have is to buy the discs from Sony directly. Does anybody know how I can the drivers? Can I download a different set of drivers from FW with vista ultimate?
