I have windows 7 RC installed on my VGN-SR 430J/B. I download Sony Notebook Utilities drivers. I got an error message that battery is not compatiblie, press OK to hibernate. I uninstalled it immediaty, but I may want to install it again. How can I avoid this?
View 10 RepliesI have a 15t j-000. I'm not sure if this notebook came with a dedicated video card. In ccleaner or in the device manager only the onboard Intel graphics appear. But on the notebook has NVIDIA GEFORCE the sticker. It may be a problem of recognition? I've tried installing the driver but says there is no compatible hardware.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo my laptop has been taking a crap lately. First the power supply broke and had to get a new one and now the battery is down to 30-40 minutes. I bought a 9 cell battery off ebay and just got it in. I plugged it in and the laptop says "Battery not recognized, will not charge." Whats up with it? Is there a way to get it charging? I don't have the money to buy the $200 battery from Dell.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have a had Dell XPS 15z for a around a year and a half and it very suddenly stopped charging whilst plugged in. I didn't notice until the low battery warning came on that the computer had stopped recognizing the battery or the charger. I rebooted and went on BIOS, I don't know much, but I noted that it didn't see an adapter plugged in and it said that the battery is functioning normally. I've plugged the adapter into other laptops and it worked so it isn't the adapter.

I'm using windows 8.1 and my Touchpad doesn't recognize Elantech driver.
I already installed driver from Dell drivers website.
The problem is all my key fn function work but the enable/disable Touchpad doesn't work.
And I don't see any option to customize my Touchpad.
Only left click, right click, moving pointer are working, but scrolling doesn't work.
I think the driver isn't installed or maybe it isn't compatible with windows 8.1.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just bought ThinkPad T430 and optical bay adapter IB-AC642 [URL] for my ssd 128 OCZ VERTEX 4. I put ssd into optical bay but thinkpad doesn't recognize it. I try with different disc but I have the same problem.
My optical bay adapter with this sdd OCZ VERTEX 4 is working in my another laptop so the problem is only with thinkpad. I tried to change bios settings but it didn't work.
Windows doesn't recognize that my U530 Touch Laptop has a touch screen. Worked okay for the first couple of months. I've tried looking for hardware updates and restarting. Computer is only a few months old, so this stinks.

However, I have one question concerning the original sony utilities that came with vista. Actually, I'm trying to avoid as much as I can to install all of them. So far, I had to install Sony Utils Dll, Shared Library, Setting Utility Series and Event Service to get my FN keys to work.
Now, there are still several "to be installed":
1) Battery Care Function
2) Batery Checker
3) HDD Protection Utility
4) Video Shared library
5) Camera Capture utility
6) Camera Utility
7) Control Center
8) Power Management
9) Status Monitor
10) Hardware Diagnostics
My question is: what do you guys think it is really essential? I don't really want to increase the number of processes running so I can have fancy apps. that I'll almost never use.
I have put an msata SSD on WWAN slot in my latitude E6430s but the system doesn't recognize it!I've tried with 2 ssd (m4 crucial 256GB & mushkin atlas serie) with the same result. Any tip for msata SSD on latitude E6430S?

I'm running Win7 64 Bit and in the device manager, I can see the Ericsson device showing up without any errors. Once I launche Access Connections, I receive the error message there's no SIM card inserted and I should insert the SIM and try again. The SIM is inserted as shown next to the slot (although I tried other ways, too). I tried two different SIM-cards just to be safe, both SIM-cards are working in my phone.

For the second time in about nine months the notebook suddenly cannot recognize my router's WiFi signal. This time if I do a system recovery I will have to reinstall 50 apps! I am trying to avoid this if possible. I understand that changing the bios settings, how this step will affect (delete/save) files. Upgraded from WIN7 to 8 to 8.1.

I think Sony is quite poor in battery management area, they should provide a application list thinkpad to test the current then tell you how long it can last.

Drivers and Utilites are from US & EU VAIO Support. All drivers have been extracted to bypass the model version check.
How to Install
To install extract the archive to a folder, e.g C:drivers.Open Device Manager and right click through each device selecting "Update Driver Software". See pic Install_Step_1.jpgSelect "Browse my computer for driver software". See pic Install_Step_2.jpgBrowse to C:Drivers and make sure "Include subfolders" is checked and click Next. See pic Install_Step_3.jpg
If an updated driver is found it will be installed. Don't worry if an updated driver isn't found. Some devices don't need updates.....................
Driver and Utilites below are from VAIO FTP, US/EU VAIO Support and Intel Download Center. VAIO don't always post the same versions on their EU and US sites and new drivers aren't listed for older models even though they are compatiable. Sony are also slow to make the latest Intel drivers available. All drivers have been extracted to bypass the model version check, usually found on drivers from the US site.

Most of the folders only contain the driver and *.inf files. I prefer to install drivers this way to prevent the installation of software I'll never use.

when i try to update my nvidia drivers to 195.62 (or any other gpu driver) it gives me a error that it doesnt detect any compatable gpu... ?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI'm working on a Precision M90 for a friend. I've reinstalled the OS and all drivers from the Dell website.
The problem I'm having is that even before reinstalling everything, the computer is not recognizing the battery.
I've tried searching and came up with nothing. It doesn't show up in the BIOS or anywhere else. None of the lights on the battery are showing up either.
The indicator on the laptop shows that it's in trickle charge mode, but this is clearly not happening. When I unplug the AC Adapter, it dies within a couple minutes.
The computer will run without the battery installed on AC power only. I tried to flash the BIOS, but of course I can't because the computer cannot recognize the battery.
I recently was given an HP dv2125nr laptop that needed a new motherboard. I purchased a new one and replaced it and the laptop was up and running. I was happy and figured that I had just salvaged a decent laptop.
When I first turned it on I noticed it wouldn't run off battery power but thought, no big deal it just needs charged. That turned out to not be the case. I went about reinstalling the operating system using the recovery partition and didn't give much thought to running it on battery til I noticed that the power icon said "On AC Power, Charging" It didn't give me a percentage however, and when I double clicked to inpect further I noticed that the battery icon under battery #1 had an X through it, and it also said "Total Battery Power remaining: Unknown".
At this point I updated the BIOS because I had seen a few forum topics that suggested this, I also made sure I had the most up to date drivers off HP's site for all hardware. Another step I took was to uninstall the "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" then scan for hardware changes and let Windows reinstall it. None of this worked.
I then assumed I had a bad battery on my hands, I ordered another one (not an HP, a cheaper one) and when it came I plugged it in overnight to charge and after about 12 hours turned the laptop back on to see if I had a fully charged battery, I did not!
It was acting in exactly the same way the original battery had acted. The only difference that I could notice was, that on one of my many reboots the icon under battery #1 in the Power Meter window only had a single red slash through it, instead of a red X.
Things I have tried:
1. Updated BIOS
2. Updated all drivers
3. Fresh install of Windows XP (again after the original recovery install)
4. Unistalling the "ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" in Device Manager.
5. Ran HP Battery Check Utility, has a divide by zero exception upon startup, then says no battery is present.
6. Booting directly to BIOS and allowing it a chance to charge overnight.
7. Swapping both batteries (no difference).
8. Taking back apart casing to make sure there were no loose wires.
My only thought next would be that either both batteries are bad (seems unlikely) or that there is a problem with the new motherboard. The motherboard being bad would surprise me, as it is able to run just fine without using battery power.
I have an xps12 that doesn't recognise its adaptor, runs fine on AC but batter is now totally dead. I tried a different Dell 45W adaptor (borrowed) and it charged the battery, I then bought a cheaper 3rd part adaptor - which also worked for a week or so.
Now am back to unrecognised adaptor, no charging. BIOS is version AO8 but even if there is an update I can't install since my battery is on zero. Battery utility (Fn F3) indicates my battery is healthy and performing normally, but charging is disabled and I don't see any obvious way to enable it.
