I have been on Acer's support website but still can't figure out which driver I should update to fix my DVD drive, which does not respond to CD's or DVD's when inserted, even though Autoplay is set.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have windows vista Ultimate on my Dell Vostro 1510 and my DVD drive (OPTIARC AD-7640A) acts like cd-rom & doesn't recognize dvd's. I have tried all kind of dvds (+/-/original/copy) but all i got is a noise !
I searched everywhere & tried:
1.Uninstall/installing the drive
2.removing registry keys (upper and lower filters )
3.firmware update JD06
4.System Restore
My aspire v3 laptop doesn't recognize a 2560x1440 monitor I connect to it - it only gives me the best option as 1920x1080. I've down loaded the latest AMD Radeon hd 7660g drivers but it still won't work.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIve always liked the ability to choose what to do when you pop in a disc. Well I've just realised that the menu doesnt pop up, so I have to either use the disc by running a specified program or exploring and manually running it...
I know that you goto 'My Computer' then right click on (D: ) and 'Properties' then 'Autorun' tab, etc. Well changing it to "Prompt me each time to choose an action" JUST DOESNT WORK!..
BTW, I'm now using a new drive to what was previously came with the PC. I replaced the CD burner drive with a DVD burner drive (just incase this is relevant)

I have a Dell XPS L502X and it doesn't read any dvds, cd inspite of having a DVD/CD-rom drive. Same problem is faced by my friends having the same xps l502x.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI’ve just purchased an Acer Aspire E3 112 that came with Windows 8.1 with Bing. I have a good bootable USB stick with 14.04 on it, from which I have installed several times on different machines. Here’s what I did:
Created unallocated space on the HDD within Windows
Booted from the USB
Clicked on "Install"
Chose "Something else" in the next dialog
Created a / partition, a "Home" partition and a Swap area.
Clicked on "Install"
The install went just like any other install that I’ve done over the last few years. When it finished, I clicked on the "Restart" button. The machine restarts, and goes straight into Windows. No sign of the Ubuntu install at all.
If I examine the HDD in Disk management within Windows, there are no formatted partitions in the unallocated space at all. (I’ve tried the same procedure both with Ubuntu 14.04 and Xubuntu 14.10 - both had the same result). Windows 8.1 with Bing is no different at all to “normal” Windows 8.1 ....
So my laptop has been taking a crap lately. First the power supply broke and had to get a new one and now the battery is down to 30-40 minutes. I bought a 9 cell battery off ebay and just got it in. I plugged it in and the laptop says "Battery not recognized, will not charge." Whats up with it? Is there a way to get it charging? I don't have the money to buy the $200 battery from Dell.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have a had Dell XPS 15z for a around a year and a half and it very suddenly stopped charging whilst plugged in. I didn't notice until the low battery warning came on that the computer had stopped recognizing the battery or the charger. I rebooted and went on BIOS, I don't know much, but I noted that it didn't see an adapter plugged in and it said that the battery is functioning normally. I've plugged the adapter into other laptops and it worked so it isn't the adapter.

On an old Inspiron 8000 laptop, I have a CD-ROM drive that only fits in the floppy drive slot. Will the BIOS recognize a boot CD in this new location? I believe it's an 18000 motherboard.

My Acer has just recieved 2x2Gb memory modul, and Windows only recognize 2,4Gb with bios 3.10. Upgraded to 3.13 Bios helps a little (recognized 3Gb), but not 4gb.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just bought ThinkPad T430 and optical bay adapter IB-AC642 [URL] for my ssd 128 OCZ VERTEX 4. I put ssd into optical bay but thinkpad doesn't recognize it. I try with different disc but I have the same problem.
My optical bay adapter with this sdd OCZ VERTEX 4 is working in my another laptop so the problem is only with thinkpad. I tried to change bios settings but it didn't work.
Windows doesn't recognize that my U530 Touch Laptop has a touch screen. Worked okay for the first couple of months. I've tried looking for hardware updates and restarting. Computer is only a few months old, so this stinks.

I recently installed XP on a coworkers 1810T and because i'm interested in the machine myself i wanted to investigate the brightness issue and see if Acer is working on a fix, or even recognizes the problem.
My correspondence with Acer has been extremely frustrating and disappointing. I was considering using the 1810T laptops to replace our office's aging Lenovos but Acer's lack of support has made me majorly turned me off to that idea.

I'm using windows 8.1 and my Touchpad doesn't recognize Elantech driver.
I already installed driver from Dell drivers website.
The problem is all my key fn function work but the enable/disable Touchpad doesn't work.
And I don't see any option to customize my Touchpad.
Only left click, right click, moving pointer are working, but scrolling doesn't work.
I think the driver isn't installed or maybe it isn't compatible with windows 8.1.
I have put an msata SSD on WWAN slot in my latitude E6430s but the system doesn't recognize it!I've tried with 2 ssd (m4 crucial 256GB & mushkin atlas serie) with the same result. Any tip for msata SSD on latitude E6430S?

View 3 Replies View Relatedmy new T440p with built-in WWAN Ericsson N5321gw doesn't recognize the SIM-Card. I'm running Win7 64 Bit and in the device manager, I can see the Ericsson device showing up without any errors. Once I launche Access Connections, I receive the error message there's no SIM card inserted and I should insert the SIM and try again. The SIM is inserted as shown next to the slot (although I tried other ways, too). I tried two different SIM-cards just to be safe, both SIM-cards are working in my phone.

Laptop is about 2 yrs old. Running on the origninal Windows 8 that came with it. Had the same issue when it was first bought. Sent it in to Acer. Came back with no report/ details. Worked okay. Until recently.
Noticed that orange light comes on when it feels like charging and stops charging at 35%. Charging is a hit and miss thing, mostly miss.
Tried:
Sticking a pin in the "battery reset" hole on the back
Uninstalling the "Microsoft API" battery
Removing battery to see if it'll work without it (it has an internal battery)
So i got the 1640 with blueray, and I was messing around with different applications like PowerDVD and media center, and I notice there isn't an up-conversion option.
