View 3 Replies View RelatedI know that the Fn + Brightness key issue on XP has been mentioned in other 1410/1810T threads, but I thought it might be nice to start a thread specific to the problem. After it's fixed we can add it with the other stickies.
I recently installed XP on a coworkers 1810T and because i'm interested in the machine myself i wanted to investigate the brightness issue and see if Acer is working on a fix, or even recognizes the problem.
My correspondence with Acer has been extremely frustrating and disappointing. I was considering using the 1810T laptops to replace our office's aging Lenovos but Acer's lack of support has made me majorly turned me off to that idea.

Laptop is about 2 yrs old. Running on the origninal Windows 8 that came with it. Had the same issue when it was first bought. Sent it in to Acer. Came back with no report/ details. Worked okay. Until recently.

Noticed that orange light comes on when it feels like charging and stops charging at 35%. Charging is a hit and miss thing, mostly miss.

Sticking a pin in the "battery reset" hole on the back
Uninstalling the "Microsoft API" battery
Removing battery to see if it'll work without it (it has an internal battery)
I bought my E15 without dvd-r, I cant access to the bios pressing F2.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI was playing Minecraft two days ago using the GeForce GT 730M graphics card not the integrated Intel HD 4000 graphics card when suddenly purple squares appeared on the game screen. The purple squares didn't appear any where else. The game crashed saying I had a bad driver. Then the laptop pop a blue screen saying VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE. The laptop restarted as usual. I had this message before but further problems occurred. But this time is different.
After restarting I re-launched Minecraft but the game crashed saying I had a bad driver. I uninstalled the current driver using the programs and features and reinstalled the driver for my laptop found in Acer.com. The issue still continued. I went into Device Manager and found out that the graphics card had a code 43 issue. I found a solution online that said to install the newest driver on GeForce.com.
I did that and it seemed to remove the code 43 but when I went into NVIDIA GeForce Experience it said that my laptop didn't have a NVIDIA graphics card. Thinking it could of been a option that I changed that caused this, I did a refresh, and system restore to still see that my laptop wont recognize my NVIDIA GeForce GT 730M graphics card and that NVIDIA Driver Support Service was gone. It allows me to see when the NVIDIA GPU is in use. The system was cool when I started playing Minecraft when the problem happened.

Windows doesn't recognize that my U530 Touch Laptop has a touch screen. Worked okay for the first couple of months. I've tried looking for hardware updates and restarting. Computer is only a few months old, so this stinks.

Recently I noticed that my touch screen sometimes starts to hits randomly at the bottom of the screen. This problem cause some windows became minimize and maximize on its own and when i'm watching video, the video keep pause, play and pause again. I tried to find any crack on the screen but found nothing.Â
I just want to be able to have two screens (1 monitor, the other my MBP screen) going at the same time and all that good stuff...
What I am looking for, if someone is willing, is for a specific list of hardware and software that I will need to do this (if possible). And in case it matters, no I do not have Windows installed via Boot Camp or anything like that.
The sites I have been looking at today are somewhat confusing even when it comes to what hardware to buy. I am in no way new to computers, so I have a general understanding of the components, but I just really need someone who has done this or knows how to do this, to basically just list everything I need.
I've asked Dell but they are clueless..... does anyone know if the Studio 17 laptop can output display to twin 24" screens at 1920x1200?
Ideally I would like to know if it can output a digital signal to both screens?
Dell suggested that it may be possible with a Displayport to dual DVI cable.....
I haven't ordered the laptop yet so would consider any options that would allow dual digital display.... eg. upgraded graphics card or use of a docking station.

Basically, I have a 2.5 year old Dell E1505 with ATI x1400 on it. I just bought a new Samsung T220HD monitor and I love that thing. But, when I first hooked it up and everything and ran dual monitors, my external screen flickers about once every 5 mins.
Then when I adjusted a few things, the external screen stopped flickering, but my laptop screen started to flicker, once every 5 mins or so. When I watch tv on my this monitor (it has a tuner built in),
there is no flickering, and when I use my external monitor as my main monitor (by closing the lid of my laptop),

I have recently purchased a W540 and connected to my Dell u3011 30" monitor. I used the Dual Link DVI-D cable that came with the monitor and plugged it into my Ultra Dock. The maximum resolution i can get is 1920x1080? When i change over to a Display port cable i can achieve the full 2560 x 1600 resolution? Is there something i need to do in addition to achieve the full 2560x1600 resolution with the DVI-D dual link cable? I want to be able to connect 2 laptops to the one monitor and only have 1 display port input so i need to be able to use the DVI cable on the 2nd machine while still achieving 2560x1600 resolution.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI have an Acer Extena 5630z that came with 4 GB memory (2 times 2 GB modules) from the factory. However, the BIOS reports only 3 GB in any OS I try be it 64 or 32 bit. Why is this? The BIOS is version 1.19 and there are newer ones. Should I consider an update? Is this a memory remappin issue

This processor and chipset should support 36 bit address space in a 32 bit OS even.
if my video card is capable of supporting dual monitors. I was hoping to avoid buying a converter because money is tight but I dual monitors is a necessity for my situation now. I have an inspiron 1720 by the way if that matters.
View 9 Replies View RelatedMy Aspire M (1.5 years old) was making a horrible noise, so I opened it up to find a very dirty fan. Â I cleaned the fan, but it still made noise. I bought a new fan and installed it. After closing it up and turning it on, it only gets to the ACER screen and then recycles.

I probably inadvertantly corrupted the BIOS, or is it something else? Â Can I flash the BIOS without having a working BIOS?
