View 9 Repliesi have an Acer aspire 5100 with dual core 1.6 cpu (laptop not working) and an Acer aspire 5100 single core 2.0ghz cpu (working), the question is can i put the dual core straight into the single core without any problems also would it be worth doing it?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI bought the Acer 1410 with the single core SU3500 Core 2 Solo CPU. It looks like Acer decided to release them with the SU2300 now, which is dual core at 1.2GHz (compared with 1.4GHz of SU3500).
Does anyone have any benchmarks comparing the two, and/or if they have a solid understanding how much better it would perform compared with the SU3500? I also see that the single core AS1410 with Celeron M @ 1.3GHz sells at the same price as the dual core.
I would like to upgrade my 5315-2153 laptop to a dvd writer. Which models could I use and will Xp recognize the writer installed and work properly?
Which Intel Core Duos types could I install instead of the Celeron CPU that this laptop has. Would the Core Duo CPU be pin compatable and all I would have to do is use new artic cpu thermal compound to make sure it is mounted properly and greased properly.
It sure does look like that Clevo 18in revealed sometime ago.

Under the hood of the 17.1-inch Firefly we found a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Extreme Quad Core CPU, 4GB of RAM, a pair of ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3870 GPUs running in CrossFire mode, and a 7,200 rpm 250GB hard drive. The Firefly spec sheet said the machine is capable of overclocking, but we didn’t touch the BIOS.
And a MultiTouch trackpad, Backlit keyboard (with m15x-esque customizable colours), Creative X-Fi audio and a Dual Hinge like the HDX 20.

Planing on upgrading my Aspire 5100 with a dualcore cpu,is there anyway of using both cores on software that is not specially written for it?
Does the ZM-85: 2300 MHz work to? It says S1 sockel.
I've read many articles and post regarding Acer timelines with the SU2700, and i'm confused as many seem to refrence it as single core but on intels on website its listed as a dual core!

Any one who has this CPU can confirm this?
I have the Asus PVR and have a bunch of movies in H.264 format. Can anyone tell me if they play well on the 1410. I will buy the 1810T if I have to but the 1410 fits my pocket better and if it does everything I need it to I can live with the minus 2 hours on the battery.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a Travelmate 4654 LMi and it's about 2 years old. I would like to know if it's possible to upgrade it to a Dual Core processor? I don't know if there is a model of Dual Core processor out there that would fit with the same socket pins? And even if there i one, will I have other things to change, like in the bios etc...
View 6 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know were I can find the dual core version of the 1410? Because all the ones that I find now are ones with the single core 1.3GHz Intel Celeron 743 Processor. I think dual core ones are called su2300s. And how much difference would I notice between the single core and the dual cores because i'm really liking this laptop for college and this is the only thing holding me back to buying it.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI'm having a bit of trouble finding out this information. Does anyone know if there is a release date yet on when Acer will be offering the su9400 in either the 4810 or 5810 timeline series?
View 5 Replies View RelatedIt's listed as (Two cores) in DXDiag and shows up as two separate processors under Device Manager.
View 4 Replies View RelatedThe Acer Timeline 3810tz is advertised to get 8+ hours of battery life. Those who have tested get about that amount while browsing the web and doing simple task, and this model contains a single core processor. I read somewhere that the Acer 3810 model with a dual core processor SU4100 get half that battery life and only goes about 4 hours.

upgrading my Aspire 5570 notebook more than a year ago. This time, I’m feeling lucky to share some of my experiences about how I finally upgraded my CPU from a Core Solo T1350Core 2 Duo T7200.
Again, thanks to everybody here in Notebookreview forum especially adinu, hoggie, Mack1982, TehSuigi, krazyphire and bigozone for their insights and knowledge that helps me a lot throughout the whole process. So, let’s get started!
Pre-upgrading
Please refer to these post before you start. It'll save you a lot of time and trouble later on.
Upgraded Acer 3680 Celeron CPU to a T5300!
Aspire 5315 CPU Step-by-Step Upgrade Guide
What you’ll need :Your new CPU (make sure it's compatible with your system ie; socket, FSB)Latest BIOS from Acer (upgraded to 1.3505 or latest)A good thermal paste (I would recommend Tuniq TX-2 or Arctic Silver 5 as well)Basic tools (screwdrivers, forceps, kitchen paper)Body static discharger (I would definitely recommend this as a precaution)Some alcohol, ear buds, sand paper grid 600,1200 & 2000 (optional for heat sink lapping)Lastly TIME and PATIENCE (you’ll be needing these a lot definitely!)When you’re ready, lets get our hands dirty.
How to disassemble your notebook?
I found out a very good video tutorial on how to disassemble my Aspire notebook on YouTube. So please take your time to view it and follow step by step as shown to help you to go through the process.
Lapping your heat sink (optional)
Although it’s not necessary, but I would recommend this process as another way to improve heat dissipation on your newly installed CPU. Refer to this page for detailed instructions.
The simple process:Clean your heat sink from old thermal paste residues with alcohol or equivalent of it using ear buds and kitchen papers.Apply a 600-grid sandpaper to smoothen the heat sink surface which comes into contact with your CPU.Repeat the process again with a 1200-gid sand paper until you’re satisfied. Finally, finish up by applying a 2000-grid sand paper to give you an almost mirror-finished surface. Wipe clean any dirt and residues left.....................................

I recently did a clean install of Windows XP Pro on my M90. This is the first dual core I've owned.
After installing all necessary drivers and Microsoft updates, I am very disappointed with the overall performance.
Is there something unique with dual core processors that I am unaware of? Let me give one example. No matter how many times I run disk defragmenter, my hard drive is still around 40% fragmented.
I got a problem with my Acer Aspire 5315. The HDD is shown in the bios but won't show in Vista most of the time. The HDD is completely formated, including the Acer partition. So recovery is not an option.
The problem is strange because it is not consistent. Sometimes I am able to acces the drive and install Vista. But then the next day, when i try to boot again, i only see a cursor after the Acer boot screen.
I've tried running in IDE mode. I also tried replacing the HDD with a new one. I installed vista with the correct Intel driver.
I also tried running Linux live cd. It also sees the HDD drive correctly but when i try to acces it, the program freeses.
I'm affraid something is wrong with the I/O controller, or it is a loose cable.
If you think otherwise, please let me know. If not, i'd like to know how I can check the HDD cable.
I've seen a number of rescent posts where folks are still setting up RAID platforms even though dual core and now quad core processors are becoming mainstream. Is it the additional chipset that you demand or what is it that requires the additional hp you seek? there is no game out there I cannot play without it and short of CAD I see little use other than proffesional requirements (NIMBUS 2.1 or Zach, perhaps).

I want to upgrade the ram and i now it will downclock, but my question is:
Is it worth it to buy more than 1Gb? My OS is Vista.
i upgraded my aspire 5315 from vista basic 2 vista premium. it took a lot of space on the hard drive so i tried 2 reset 2 factory settings by alt/f10 but nothing nothing happened . has the upgrade removed my recovery ghost partition. my hard drive has been partitioned c/and d/ drives the d drive has files in it. i tried alt/f10 again and there was loads of beebing i switched of the lap top asap rebooted now the acer logo does not come up anymore, boots 2 os screen.
View 8 Replies View RelatedMy aspire 5315 over heats occasionally and when i am using it it shuts down due to heating problems. I use "notebook hardware control 2.0" to monitor my hardware, and at time it shows my cpu temp to be 98 degree centigrade, at 99 it shuts down.
So what im asking that is this a normal issue, do you guys owning this model have this problem as well.
Today i used "Speedfan" to find out any info about my cpu fans, but it gave me no info, like no fans found.
Can some one install this app in their aspire 5315 and tell me if u get the same results.
edit: k even if someone else does not have this app or does not want to install it. i stilll find it a bit odd for a laptop to be with out a cpu fan, dont u.
like this is how the normal operation of speddfan should look like, " i ran it on my desktop pc"
and here is the one running on my acer
I downloaded the new BIOS for the 5315 and went to run it tonight. It said I had 1.22 and the new BIOS was 1.25. I double clicked the BIOS program, said to close all other programs so I did, and then clicked START. It got about 1/10 of the way through and then said something about a read error (I can't remember exactly). It completely froze my system where I couldn't even force power off by holding the power button. Acer tech support said that flashing the BIOS isn't covered under warrantee and it's $100 to send it in and get them to replace the mobo. He also kept saying that there are ways to fix this myself, just to look online. I have tried force powering it off by unplugging the power and unplugging the battery. Now it won't turn on at all.

I originally wanted to do with the an HP 8530w but as the dual-core mobo is not compatible with the quad mobo it's no longer an option for me. Is the m4400 constructed in a similar fashion? or did Dell opt for a universal mobo?
