Planing on upgrading my Aspire 5100 with a dualcore cpu,is there anyway of using both cores on software that is not specially written for it?
Does the ZM-85: 2300 MHz work to? It says S1 sockel.
I bought the Acer 1410 with the single core SU3500 Core 2 Solo CPU. It looks like Acer decided to release them with the SU2300 now, which is dual core at 1.2GHz (compared with 1.4GHz of SU3500).
Does anyone have any benchmarks comparing the two, and/or if they have a solid understanding how much better it would perform compared with the SU3500? I also see that the single core AS1410 with Celeron M @ 1.3GHz sells at the same price as the dual core.
It sure does look like that Clevo 18in revealed sometime ago.

I've read many articles and post regarding Acer timelines with the SU2700, and i'm confused as many seem to refrence it as single core but on intels on website its listed as a dual core!

I have the Asus PVR and have a bunch of movies in H.264 format. Can anyone tell me if they play well on the 1410. I will buy the 1810T if I have to but the 1410 fits my pocket better and if it does everything I need it to I can live with the minus 2 hours on the battery.

I think dual core ones are called su2300s. Those who have tested get about that amount while browsing the web and doing simple task, and this model contains a single core processor. I recently did a clean install of Windows XP Pro on my M90. This is the first dual core I've owned.
After installing all necessary drivers and Microsoft updates, I am very disappointed with the overall performance.
Is there something unique with dual core processors that I am unaware of? Let me give one example. No matter how many times I run disk defragmenter, my hard drive is still around 40% fragmented.
I've seen a number of rescent posts where folks are still setting up RAID platforms even though dual core and now quad core processors are becoming mainstream.Is it the additional chipset that you demand or what is it that requires the additional hp you seek? there is no game out there I cannot play without it and short of CAD I see little use other than proffesional requirements (NIMBUS 2.1 or Zach, perhaps).

However, I'm not sure about the processor. There are three options, a celeron dual core (which is really low-end, so out of the question), a 2.1 Ghz pentium dual-core (T4300) with 1Mb of cache and a 2.2 ghz core2duo (T6600) with 2Mb of Cache. They all have 4Gb of RAM.
Both the pentium dual core and the core2duo come with Windows 7 Home Premium (64bit) so I expect even the dual core can't be that ancient as far as architecture is concerned .....
I'm shopping for a new laptop to replace a damaged Dell Inspiron 1300. All I would be using the computer for is web surfing, sending and receiving emails and some Quicken. I'm not a gamer nor am I into digital photography. One thing I do know is since the new computer's OS will be some form of Vista I need to make sure that it has at least 2GB of memory, that part I'm certain of based upon so many comments I've read about memory capacity and Vista.
I'm looking at a Dell Inspiron 1525 to replace my 2 year old Inspiron 1300. Dell offers a Celeron processor as the entry level processor on the 1525 and from there you can choose a dual core processor and then several core 2 duo processors. For basic computing needs on a computer having Vista with 2GB of memory would a Celeron processor be enough of a processor for me or should I spend an extra $50.00 USD for the entry level Dual Core processor offered by Dell?
I have an HP G60 that I was interested in possibly overclocking it. It has an AMD Turion Dual-Core RM-70 2.00GHz Processor in it. I was wondering if it is even possible to overclock it and if so how much would be a safe bet?

i do not understand why dual core i5 processor studio is costlier than quad core i7 studio ?
I bought the i7-3520M (dual) and I looked in the manual to see what slots to use for my memory upgrade and the instructions were completely off (where the dummy stick is supposed to be and where it actually was).
I purchased two 8GB (Kingston) sticks to replace the 4GB that came installed. I took out the original 4GB under the keyboard and replaced it with the new 8GB Kingston. Everything worked great and I've been using it that way for about a week.
Tonight I decided to go ahead and install the other 8GB. I assumed it would go in the bottom slot where there's a dummy stick. I pulled out the dummy and placed my 8GB there. Turned the laptop on and... nothing. It wouldn't power on at all. I took my 8GB out and put the dummy back and it worked fine. Just to make sure I didn't get a bad stick, I replaced the one under the keyboard with my other 8GB and it worked fine there. My question is where is my second 8GB supposed to be installed and does that one dummy stick always stay where it is? It does have a "do not remove" graphic on it, but I thought it was only because the laptop came with one stick and if you were putting two in you would replace it.

How to disassemble your notebook?
I found out a very good video tutorial on how to disassemble my Aspire notebook on YouTube. So please take your time to view it and follow step by step as shown to help you to go through the process.
Lapping your heat sink (optional)
Although it�s not necessary, but I would recommend this process as another way to improve heat dissipation on your newly installed CPU. Refer to this page for detailed instructions.
The simple process:Clean your heat sink from old thermal paste residues with alcohol or equivalent of it using ear buds and kitchen papers.Apply a 600-grid sandpaper to smoothen the heat sink surface which comes into contact with your CPU.Repeat the process again with a 1200-gid sand paper until you�re satisfied.Finally, finish up by applying a 2000-grid sand paper to give you an almost mirror-finished surface. Wipe clean any dirt and residues left.....................................
the m1730 only seems to be available with a 2.6 ghz cpu , the studio xps has the 2.8ghz , didnt they used to sell the quad core cpu's for the xps atleast ?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI do half an hour of normal browsing (no youtube or flash videos) like check my bank account, visit few forums, check email etc. and my MBA's CPU cores max out while the temp stats at 65-68C, I regularly monitor it with iStat. To remedy this problem, I put it to sleep for a minute or two and the air is ready to use for next half an hour.
In the past it had two problems, once when it's fan stopped spinning i.e. stayed at 0rpm and second time when it's lcd developed white spots in the middle of the screen. Apple fixed both under warranty.
This is what I am waiting for Core i7 32nm Arrandale is only 2 Core. But where are the true 32nm Quad Core systems?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI noticed it was running really really hot, almost painful to hold your fingers against the rear fan vent. So I ran SpeedFan and sure enough the temps were whacked out:
1st core at reasonable temps (30ish)
2nd core from 65 - 90!
I tried following the disassembly guide for the DV2xxxx series here to take a look at the heatsink contact and fan but I got stuck at the logic board. (One of the disconnected WLAN antenna cables is impossible to fish out from the chasis, and after removing all connections, the logic board refused to budge fully)
So I just went nuts with compressed air on the exposed parts of the fan/heatsink, but that only helped a bit, temps on that core were still at a constant 65+ but the other core was at 30-35 and all other components were at okay temps...
I think the dell tech who was supposed to replace the heatsink also disabled 2 of my cores on my corei7 quad. On cpuz it is only showing up as 2 and same with on device manage

Looking at task manager I see cpu speed fixed a 0.77 GHz and looking at resource monitor I notice only CPU 0 with any load the other 3 cores appear ideal (disabled?)
Power plan is set to performance and is on main power.
