Nov 22, 2008My Acer has just recieved 2x2Gb memory modul, and Windows only recognize 2,4Gb with bios 3.10. Upgraded to 3.13 Bios helps a little (recognized 3Gb), but not 4gb.

Sep 29, 2009I know that the Fn + Brightness key issue on XP has been mentioned in other 1410/1810T threads, but I thought it might be nice to start a thread specific to the problem. After it's fixed we can add it with the other stickies.
I recently installed XP on a coworkers 1810T and because i'm interested in the machine myself i wanted to investigate the brightness issue and see if Acer is working on a fix, or even recognizes the problem.
My correspondence with Acer has been extremely frustrating and disappointing. I was considering using the 1810T laptops to replace our office's aging Lenovos but Acer's lack of support has made me majorly turned me off to that idea.

Aug 12, 2009I have finally tested the Acer Empowering Technology software on my Acer D150.
Great news, the software works to enable/disable the Bluetooth module on the netbook without physically pressing the button. This is great for people like me that do not have the button on top to push the button inside. There are two software needed for people to get this running on the D150. First is the required “Acer Empowering Framework” software and the second is the “Acer ePower Management.” Once both software are installed on the system, the setting to enable/disable the Bluetooth module is in the ePower Management.
Power profiles within windows will probably be reset to default, so those would have to be readjusted if a user changed them. I am actually running Windows Vista on my Acer D150 with the Acer Empowering Technology software for Vista. I am not 100% sure if the software will also work on XP, but from the notebookreview forums, I believe it should work just as fine (but more options on other Empowering Technology software).
(in XP, the driver also works, but need XP edition, not vista editon).

Laptop is about 2 yrs old. Running on the origninal Windows 8 that came with it. Had the same issue when it was first bought. Sent it in to Acer. Came back with no report/ details. Worked okay. Until recently.

Noticed that orange light comes on when it feels like charging and stops charging at 35%. Charging is a hit and miss thing, mostly miss.

Tried:
Sticking a pin in the "battery reset" hole on the back
Uninstalling the "Microsoft API" battery
Removing battery to see if it'll work without it (it has an internal battery)

Nov 14, 2014I was playing Minecraft two days ago using the GeForce GT 730M graphics card not the integrated Intel HD 4000 graphics card when suddenly purple squares appeared on the game screen. The purple squares didn't appear any where else. The game crashed saying I had a bad driver. Then the laptop pop a blue screen saying VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE. The laptop restarted as usual. I had this message before but further problems occurred. But this time is different.
After restarting I re-launched Minecraft but the game crashed saying I had a bad driver. I uninstalled the current driver using the programs and features and reinstalled the driver for my laptop found in Acer.com. The issue still continued. I went into Device Manager and found out that the graphics card had a code 43 issue. I found a solution online that said to install the newest driver on GeForce.com.
I did that and it seemed to remove the code 43 but when I went into NVIDIA GeForce Experience it said that my laptop didn't have a NVIDIA graphics card. Thinking it could of been a option that I changed that caused this, I did a refresh, and system restore to still see that my laptop wont recognize my NVIDIA GeForce GT 730M graphics card and that NVIDIA Driver Support Service was gone. It allows me to see when the NVIDIA GPU is in use. The system was cool when I started playing Minecraft when the problem happened.
System Specs:

NVIDIA GeForce GT 730M with 2 GB of dedicated VRAM
Intel HD 4000 graphics

Apr 6, 2014I'm trying to install an extra Samsung 840 evo mSata in my new m3800 but the BIOS does not recognize the disc. I tried 2 840 msata both with same result not recognized.Â
Changed several settings in BIOS:
- disabled Intel Smart Technology- SATA operations to AHCI- Secure boot disabled- load legacy option enabled
Does the Samsung mSata is supported in an m3800?

Apr 28, 2009I recently upgraded my aspire 3623 from a M370 to a M740. The bios needs to be upgraded to operate speedstep of the new cpu. Currently it runs at 1.3 instead of the 1.7 it's supposed to. At bootup it says 1.733 gh but in EVEREST it says it's running 1.296gh. I can't find on the ACER site where to get the BIOS upgrade download. Is there a 3rd party location anyone knows about?

Mar 10, 2009what i did, was i downloaded the Windows 7 Beta Testing thing, and it completely overwrote my Windows XP, and now i have no operating system, i do have a reformat disk, but the acer aspire one has no cd/dvd drive!
i tryed going into the BIOS to try and see if i can boot from my flash drive, but guess what? the BIOS is asking me for a password, i never even set a password.

My Aspire M laptop will not boot due to the 'boot configuration file being invalid', at least, this is what the 'Recovery' blue screen states. The blue screen offeres to 'Press Esc for UEFI Firmware settings, but is not responsive. I've tried F2, F8, F10, Alt+F10, F12, Space Bar, Delete and Break to try to activate the BIOS interface, all equally unsuccessful.

I followed the instructions to purchase recovery tools from Acer, but without being able to access the BIOS to set the boot order, I've just sunk another $25 into a laptop that doesn't work.
Acer Aspire 5750 :: BIOS Does Not See HDD
Mar 3, 2015I have a 4 different HDD's that I have tried. Â Frequently the BIOS does not see it. Â After a few reboots, the HDD eventually shows up and the OS boots just fine. Â It can run for days without any issues and then suddenly have trouble detecting any HDD. Â I have a little better luck my samsung HDD. It will always eventually work.

Acer :: Bad BIOS Flash On Aspire 5315
May 21, 2008Second time this has happened. I've downloaded the BIOS update from Acer's website.
Closed all programs, disabled the antivirus and went to flash it. Right after clicking start I get a Verify Error and the sytem freezes and is a dead unit. First time this happened they tried to tell me it was something like $150 to fix even though I did everything right. Now I went to do it again, same thing. Now Acer is telling me it will cost $450 to fix it. It's only 3 months old. They are also saying they are not responsible for anything downloaded from their web site.
So, couple questions. Has anyone successfully flashed their BIOS to 1.34? Does anyone know where you can buy motherboards cheap?

Jan 21, 2010I have a problem with the bios upgrade on my Aspire 5920G.
I have downloaded from Acer's site the 3813 version and i try to use it with winphlash, the program that is in the folder when i unzip.
I have always an error message, the one in the printscreen.
Yes, i have opened the program with administrator privileges, the same message pops out.
I think that the problem is that i have Windows 7 Ultimate x64.
Acer :: Aspire 3860 BIOS Recovery
Dec 8, 2008I flashed the BIOS using the windows software beyond my better judgement and the install crashed. I waited 30 minutes and the system never started to flash again. I have tried a few ideas to get the BIOS to restore. I tried the FN-ESC method and the usb-Floppy tries to install the system but i am still not able to get the OLD BIOS restore.
I have the BIOS backed up on the systems hard drive but I am gonna have to remove the drive and get the backup BIOS and try to install it on the recovery disc. What are some ways to restore the BIOS the system is also out of warrenty and I payed acer support to tell me that are not able to help me.
