I'm looking to replace mine P8700 cpu with the one from T9x00 series but i'm concerned about the temps afterward. So please tell me your temps in idle/full load if you have ......T9600,T9800,T9900 or P9700 . If you have some other T9x00 i'm interested in those to.
View 7 RepliesI just got a new sony vaio F-series with the new i7, it was really fast, took me about 2 minutes to get to startup screen and log in. But all of sudden after two weeks it started to slow down
( I didn't download much, and I scanned with both avg and adaware and no viruses or problems found).
Also, my gadgets instead of appearing on the sidebar like normal appear in the middle of the screen randomly.. I am extremely pissed because I have heard such good review

the 3 processors will give me enough power, but i travel a lot, and i care a lot about the batter life, so which one is better for the battery life on z series?

I had replaced mobo on my dead SZ 4 series (don't ask why) and couldn't stop there since I was in the move thus consequently contemplated about possible upgrades. For now I settled for fan, WLAN card and CPU upgrade. If it works well, I might install SSD also.
1.Fan Modification
As you all proud SZ owners know, fan is very noisy on this machines so it made me think if there is any possible modification to reduce the noise. Since the BIOS is controlling it there is not much to do on the RPM part (in win at least, but more on that later) I settled for a fan and fan casing swap from SZ 4 to SZ 7 series.
In the photos you can see that fans, fan casings and heat-sinks are of different design. Besides design differences, voltage and the amperage are the same, 5V-300mA.
Only way was to install the fan and the casing of the SZ 7 heat-sink to my old one as one of the heat-sinks bolt bushings is off for a few millimeters.
There has to be some care exercised when prying off the fan casing, some heating was required from the aluminium side on three pins were casing is attached.
Not to be simple, the difference is also in the inlet hole. One on the SZ 7 heat-sink is bigger and off centre compared to SZ 4s. Had to do some filing there, to match it to the size of the new fan. Fan of SZ7 is not bigger, it is due to different design of the fan eye and its volutes...................
My G505s A10-5750m processor is underclocking and locked at 2.05ghz. I tried changing settings in Lenovo Energy Management, Catylist Control is up to date, Bios is at 3.0, Amd Overdrive doesn't change anything beside GPU for me, whenever I try to adjust processor settings, it just goes back to what it was before. Temps are are 57C, but show 100 in HW monitor which it says for everyone.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Sony Vaio VGN-Z590 with windows 7 32 bit professional installed. When I switch to speed mode and hook up a monitor (24" dell LCD) via HDMI->DVI the graphics card temperature goes up to around 80-95C (measured with real temp 3.40) and the CPU temp also goes up into the 60-70s. No programs are using the CPU heavily. During this process the fans go up to max and the computer gets really loud. I have all the latest drivers installed and the latest BIOS.
I was wondering if anyone else has a problem like this? Would installing 64 bit windows 7 be better? It makes it really noisy when I hook up a monitor via HDMI. Any ideas?

i really dont know if it is the processor or the video card, but for example internet browsing is slow, and also when i play 1080p videos it doesnt go well, the stuck and are really slow and poor
I bought a ThinkPad X240 recently.  On Lenovo's website, it says the max speed is 3.30 GHz.  However, in the Windows 8.1 Task Manager, it says the maximum speed is 2.69 GHz.  See [URL] ....

Why there is a discrepancy? Â I also tried running Prime 95 for a little while and noticed that the "Speed" in Task Manager never went above 2.70 GHz. Â Did I somehow get a weird i7-4600U processor that has a max speed of only 2.7 GHz?

In the past I have owned Sony Vaio desktops and I’m now looking at a Vaio laptop. I am currently looking at the VGN-NS235J/P. It can be found on the Sony site

If I look at the Sony site it shows a thumbnail of the processor being a Centrino 2, but if I look at Amazon it shows it being a Pentium Dual-Core. It has been about five years since I bought a new computer so I am trying to figure out the details. From what I’ve read on the Intel site the Centrino is a much newer as well as bigger/better/faster processor. I am a PhotoShop junkie and need speed.
I currently have a TX2XP which I bought 3 years ago. It is now no longer able to handle the workload i place on it and freezes up and crashes regularly.
I am looking to get a TT11WN to replace it. However, I notice, despite the large price tag, it only has a processor of 1.2 Ghz. Can any owners comment on performance? Will I be able to multitask and switch between many open browser windows and applications seamlessly?
I notice that the processor in my tx2xp is also 1.2 ghz (pentium M), although with a lower FSB speed.

i see that windows 7 runs noticeably cooler than windows vista. Please post your details so that other users can have an idea about what to choose if they decide to bootcamp windows.

Weird thing is that I did a fresh installation on both and even though mine is 2gb RAM and hers is 3gb RAM, mine still seems to run faster.
Are the components that come in a 2.26 ghz motherboard compatible with a 2.53 or 2.66 or higher ghz processor? I plan on ordering a Z590 as I fear the 690 will end up starting at a higher base price (ie like in Canada), and then upgrading it with a faster processor, more ram, etc. I just want to make sure I can do all of those things without issue.

did you find your temps to be the same turbo?
I've had my M1530 for almost 11 months now and I noticed this discoloration on the palm rest but more importantly are the temps. The CPU is hitting 97 degrees Celsius and the GPU is hitting at 94 degrees Celsius. I first noticed this after several hours of video conversions then I ran ORTHOS to replicate the results. Should I ask for a technician to replace the mainboard or heatsinK? I've tried to raise the issue with the GPU running at this temp before but to no avail. However, this is the first time the CPU has hit such high temps.

I've got a Precision M4400 for which I did some DIY upgrading... Specifically, I put in a T9900 (3.06GHz, 35W TDP) processor and a 256Gb SSD. You can see the specs in my signature, actually.
The problem is that my temperatures seem to be going pretty high. Realtemp is saying that once I turn on the laptop, both CPU cores are at around 30-35 C. But after a very short while, this heats up to the mid-40's. And if I play Sims 3, let's say, the temperature can go up all the way to the high 70's. The GPU seems to stay at under 80 C, which I think should be fine .....
