I bought Acer 7745G with HD5850, 4GB DDR3 and i430M. The OS is Windows 7 Home Premium. During playing with cod2, wow and grid it stops for some second. Just the game freeze, mouse still work and i can hit alt+tab and go to the desk. I checked it, at this moment the HDD works 100% for that time. After that the game runs perfectly.
I updated my drivers, installed new Windows 7 and there is only DX9c.
I purchase an acer laptop 2 years ago for gaming. The specs are Intel Core duo 1.83ghz, ATi Mobility Radeon X1600 Video memory 256MB, 512 RAM (which I upgrade to 2GB).
I am experiencing auto shutdowns when playing game such as Tomb Raider anniversary and Drift city. Is there any solution to this? The fan is working well. And I get hot temperatures reading from Speedfan, cpu temp at 85 when gaming!
Will resetting the bios fix this? Are there side-effects to that?
I have bought my Acer 8930 and I'm happy.... Or... I'm actually a little sad, because I thought it could run CoD5!!
I can run Call Of Duty 5 smooth in 5 minutes, but then it begins to slow down for some reason. I have tried different graphic-settings and Resouloution with no luck. I have heard in some other threads that Vista 64-bit would help?

In the Acer Power-Management I have set it to High Performance, and Maximum CPU and Graphics Settings. I have also set the NVIDIA graphics driver to Performance.
I have also tried to set it on balanced.
It lags most of the games that I play. (Left 4 Dead, CoD5, GRID etc.)
I have a 5920G. It gets around 90-94 c cpu and around 90 gpu.Is this normal or do i have to check it up. My room temp is like 30 c.
I wanted to know if this temp will harm the cpu.
I'm having problems playing Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 lately. When i first got the computer, it ran fine on high graphics settings and the highest resolution (1280x720).
But in the past month or so it's started lagging all the time. It starts off fine but after after a few minutes it suddenly jumps and from then on it never recovers and just lags ridiculously and becomes unplayable, also load times for replays and sometimes menu changes can take up to a minute where normally it would only take a second.
I assumed it was a heating problem, so i opened it up and cleaned the fan and grills out and now have the laptop on a raised platform to allow better flow of air underneath it, it didn't change it at all.
Also got the new Ghostbusters game and the same thing happens with that, it's pretty much unplayable from the start now.
I think it has something to do with my CPU getting really fast 100%
I bought a Acer Aspire 7520 for using it on college. It came with Vista Home Premium and I was planning to put XP asap on it. But because everything went pretty smoothly I did not saw a reason to do it inmediatly. So I could play games like Half-life 2, Counter-strike source, and Team Fortress 2 perfectly fine. But after some time I got annoyed like hell by Vista, and by downloading a crack I accidently installed a virus so everything got even worse. So I thought, okay lets install XP inmediatly! After I formatted my hard-drive I installed it with Service pack 2, and it all went great.
Well that's what I thought at the first few seconds. Because after having installed all the drivers I started Team Fortress 2. And suddenly around every 10-20 seconds my ping went from a 30 to 90 or higher. And that ofcourse caused my fps to drop, so this made it impossible to play Team Fortress 2. And after trying allot different drivers I decided to go back to Vista, because the games I wanted to play ran great on it. So now I have Vista Home Premium installed with Service Pack 1 and the drivers from acer that are made to be used with Vista + SP1. But now I got the same ****ing problem, I had in XP. For some unknown reason my ping decides to raise randomly. And makes it again not possible to play a game online because my fps then drops from a nice 72 fps to 9 or lower.
I installed every driver that Acer released for my laptop that are compatible with Vista (32bit) + Service pack 1.
I just have no idea what causes this! I have a antivirus + firewall. And a special anti-spyware/malware/other crap that makes your laptop/pc slow...............
settings I should be using for gaming. Currently i'm using the default settings. It seems to run spore perfectly fine no lag/choppy game play (offline) a little online though and the graphics are smooth and sharp. When I play nhl 09 the gameplay is very erratic and choppy and the graphics are terrible, they start off decent and then just digress completely to box like looking players as if it were played on something a bit better then the n64. I checked the system requirements for nhl 09 the 6920g meets the requirements I even have 4gig ram not 3. Is it something to do with my settings or is the 6920g just not good enough to play it? Would I be better off returning it and try to exchange it for 08 see if that runs better, although ultimately i'd like to keep 09 if possible.
Some notes about my computer:
Not much is installed on it games/ software wise, I only have spore, nhl 09 and nba 2k9 installed, office ultimate 07, and then antivirus software and what ever came with the computer, plus the usual media players, IM, etc. I have 92 gigs free on my first partition, where it is installed. on the other partition is where i keep all my media.
Im having a small gaming problem here. Im playing world of warcraft on my Aspire 6920g and it works perfectly smooth for like 5 minutes then starts performance decrease until its very bad. If I minimalize the game, for like, one minute and then maximize it back, it works perfectly smooth for some time again. I have no idea how to fix it. It probably isnt overheating as it occurs after I launch my lappy and then the game(the laptop is cold).

I've already tried just using RM-Clock Utility and setting it for max performance but yet it still clocks down with heat increase.
I’ve seen an excellent guide on here for lowering the voltage of my laptop so would this help with gaming (as well as the general running of the laptop)
My Aspire V3-771 is a little over a year old now. I don't know much about computers, but i do enjoy several pc games, and watch a lot of streaming videos. when doing so my computer almost always shuts itself off, even while running games that could hardly be called graphic intensive. I'd thought it might be an overheating issue? but i don't think that's the case.Â
I've also noticed that, within the task manager, the disk will often jump to 100%.

Crash symptoms:
-happens anywhere from within the first 15 minutes to several hours into a game (no link to graphic quality settings). No loss in performance leading up to the crash.

-screen glitches and goes black, with a brief buzzing sound. Power remains on and fan is still running, forcing a hard reset.Â

-Occasionally the sceen will freeze, ~1cm horizontal green lines will appear all over and a loud buzzing sound is emitted from the speakers until a hard reset.Â

-Rarely I get a BSOD or the computer will shut down and restart itself. Resulting DMP files show no consistent suspected cause.

-Crash will occasionally be preceded by certain in-game sounds cutting out. But not always.

-The only link between crashes is that I'm usually thinking a solution worked right before the crash. (Frustrating!)

-System will occasionally crash while  watching videos or something, but only crashes consistently while gaming.

I have tried the following:Â
-Running games using only the integrated graphics or nVidia GeForce GT 540M GPU.

-Underclocking either the GPU(500MHz and 700MHz, from 672MHz and 900MHz), the CPU (seting max 70% power plan), and both simultaneously.Â

-Temperatures do not exceed 70C under heavy use, and crash does not seem to be linked to any temperature increases.Â
Â
-Run both Windows 7 memory diagnostic and memtest86 (no problems found)
Â
-Run intel CPU diagnostics and intel XTU benchmark which did not cause a crash.Â
Â
-Upgrading all drivers to latest versions, as well as rolling them back to the versions recommended on acer download website. (Completely uninstalling graphics drivers before re-installing different versions) And making sure windows update was not automatically installing driver updates.

-upgrading BIOS to v1.12, it was stable for a weekend then went back to crashing.
Â
-The system seems to be more stable in power saver or balance mode, but not  by much. I also suspected the Ac power adapter because it didn't seem to crash on battery for a brief time. But I was wrong and it did end up crashing whether plugged in or not.Â
Aand cleaning it out w/ compressed air, obviously ... I don't game often, and usually play older games on lower quality settings. I'm not overclocking or streaming at the same time.Â
I was wondering if anyone has tried out any games on the V13...
I am considering getting the V13 (and you gotta admit, it's one sleek looking laptop); but would really want to be able to play Starcraft 2 on it. I simply want to play it on all low settings and have playable frame rates..
I would be getting the Core 2 Dual 1.3Ghz config...
And of course, the only video card choice, the famous GMA 4500MHD..

I'm curious what the relative strength of this laptop is in terms of gaming? I'm a really casual gamer; I currently play DotA and Dofus, I know the MBP will handle these, but how about WoW, Heroes of newearth and, most importantly, SC2? Any ideas? I'm assuming it will handle most of these OK, but I think the graphics will limit its performance in SC2, the 320 isn't a gaming graphics card, and is painfully truncated with 256mb... any one with a MBP 13 and the SC2 beta around to comment on this?

View 10 Replies View RelatedI have owned my XPS 1530 for about 8 months now. It has been quite some time since i took my original temperatures, but i remember running games like warhammer online, call of duty, etc, at a temperature of 45c idle status , and like GPU 71c under hours of gaming. I think the hottest it got was GPU 79 degrees. 8 months later i decided to try gaming again and to my surprise my laptop is getting SO hot that it burns my hands and my speedfan shows the GPU at like GPU 64 idle ( 69 when the batter adapter is in) and up to 91-95 when on a game. I used to have a zalman laptop cooler which kept my comp a bit cooler, but i only noticed it effecting my temp. by about 2-3 degrees. I am going to undervolt and get my broken zalman replaced but I need to know one thing:
Do I have defective hardware? Is it normal to see an increase in temperatures as laptops get older? I am very afraid that something is damaged. Also, is there a specific driver that i should be running which can help my graphics card cool down, or am i one of the unlucky few who have been given a bugged 8600gt.
I've been reading through most of the xps studio 16 threads but can't seem to find any definite information regarding this laptops gaming ability.
I saw one youtube video in which WoW took like 40 seconds to load..
I realize that many people here have an m1710 and i figured this could be a place to get some answers. So im playing Oblivion on my m1710 and i noticed when i have it at the highest resolution with no AA it gets really shitty fps so i turned it down to the second highest with no AA and i still got shity fps when in battle and such. I then proceeded to turn it down even lower. After all of this I still get shitty fps (down to like 8 in battle) even when its at like 1280 by 1024 so this is all with antialiasing off and when i turn it on not much happens except like 3 less fps. So i was just wondering if anyone knew what the hell my problem was because its annoying me. Even when i overclock my graphics card it doesnt really help but maybe 3 to 4 fps better.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI just sold my SZ650N and upgraded to a Z750D my previous laptop had vista, and this one has W7. Previous laptop was a 2.2Ghz and my new is one 2.66ghz and everything else is faster and better than my previous one.
Well im not sure what im doing wrong, but i downloaded the latest video driver to be up to date, and i tried to run some games that my SZ650 was able to run just fine, but with the Z750 it seems like its stuggling more, fan seems also louder as its working to hard, and sometimes the game would go black, and i would have to hit a few buttons to end up at the main menu or back in the game. few times the game would crash... im not very impressed with this laptop, unless windows 7 has some settings different or this laptop has some different features that i dont know about? I tried playing in "performance" mode (by hitting one of the buttons to go from silen, balanced, performance)
I just reformatted the laptop with Vista. Then i received my W7 CD upgrade and upgraded with a fresh reformat.
is there any online test i can run or something i can do to get some stats on my laptops performance to get an idea of whats going on, or some settings adjusted?
