Acer AO722-0825 :: Can Upgrade Memory From 4g To 8g
Oct 16, 2014
I have an AO722-0825. I'm looking to increase the speed and performance of this machine, and so I wanted to upgrade the memory (and possibly swap in a SSD). So my questions are:
1) Is it possible to upgrade the memory on this machine?
2) What brand of memory does Acer?
3) taking out the hard drive and putting in a solid state drive?

Acer Aspire One 722-0825 Wont Wake Up or Power Down? This afternoon I'm having issues with my computer.
Last night the netbook was working fine, and when i went to bed I closed the lid where it goes to sleep.
This morning when I woke up opened the lid, its not doing anything!!
The screen is just black, pressing keys on the keyboard isn't waking it up, and I tried holding down the power button to force it to shut down, but nothing is working.

I have an AO722 with Windows 7 64 bit.
I am trying to connect by HDMI to a TV.
TV says no signal.
Have toggled through all of the options with the fn f5 and f6 keys and also the Windows button/P also.
My screen would go black on some options but still no signal on the TV.
Went in the Device Manager to see if the HDMI port is there with the USB's.
Could not find. Is this possible issue or something else?

Everytime windows updates my Acer AO722, windows will not start. This started after I did a factory restore. When shutting down windows updates my system and then windows 7 will not start up after a restart.

i currently have a TM 5720 with 2GB of ram. I was thinking of upgrading it to 3GB. I was wondering if you think it will make much of a difference and whether any of these would be suitable (already done a small bit of research)
i cant post any links but had seen a few on play.com
2gb pc 5300 200 pin
would it matter that there would be 2 different types of RAM in the laptop.

I found out from the release notes for BIOS 3.60 that one of the changes is to "update kernel code for 4GB memory support". Does it mean that if I update my BIOS from v 3.33(dated 9/1/07) to v 3.60 I will be able to increase my current maximum memory of 2GB to 4GB in Acer Aspire5610z.

I have Aspire2000 and am trying to upgrade RAM to 1GB.
I already bought 2x512mb sticks and I CANNOT find second ram slot.
I managed to find the first one which is located on the bottom of laptop.
Where is the second slot? If it is under the keyboard or you have to dissect whole computer, how do you get to that area?

I've just completed a CPU upgrade on my 5315 (to a T7300, which took 15 minutes!). I'm now thinking of upgrading the memory from my current 2GB @ 667 MHz (with the new CPU the memory runs at 667 MHz rather than 533 MHz with the old CPU) to 2GB @ 800 MHz.
However, I've read that the performance increase between 667 MHz and 800 MHz is very little, thus, it's not worth spending the money, even if it is only $AUD40.
Can anyone provide any input, benchmarks or experiences?

I have a 5810TZ that I have upgraded to Win 7 64-bit. I have tried to upgrade to 8GB ram and Windows hangs. CMOS reads it as 8GB, but I cannot get Windows 7 to boot.
I have installed two 10600 DDR3 chips. If I remove one chip, it boots normally. It doesn't matter which slot I use or which chip I use. But when I put both chips in, Win 7 hangs.

Considering an Aspire One right now because it is less expensive than the others. I have a 512MB RAM (DDR2-PC5300) and 80GB 2.5" SATA HDD from my Thinkpad (which I upgraded both). So, I think maybe I could buy the Aspire One the cheapest version (8GB I guess).
So, is it can be done? I know that there is SATA version of the Aspire One but not sure the connector will be there in the SSD version. Try to google it but found only SSD upgrade....

I just purchased a used Elitebook 8540w with i7 quad core and four memory slots (I love it!). It is running 64 bit Windows 7 Professional It came with one 4gb memory module and I purchased an additional 4gb module to bring total RAM to 8gb.
I have the HP document that shows for two 4gb memory modules, one should be in memory slot 1 and the other in memory slot 3 for correct functioning of dual channel memory. All set right?
Not quite. In the Elitebook 8540w, the primary memory slots under the keyboard are clearly labeled "1" and "2" However, the expansion memory slots on the underside of the chassis are also clearly labeled "1" and "2" Opps! There is no "3" and there is no "4" In which of the unfilled three slots do I install the second 4gb module for correct functioning of dual channel memory?

Have just rebuilt an Acer Travelmate 2200,loaded XP Professional on it, but when I try to upgrade the memory from the standard chip it doesnt like it!
If I add an extra 1Gb chip into the spare slot under fan casing it comes up on start up as file missing system32drivers tfs.sys. If I remove the original chip and replace with one 1Gb card only it fires up ok, but again when you try to add the second 1Gb card the same error message, file missing system32drivers tfs,sys comes up.I have looked at a PDF of the instruction manual and follwed to the letter as far as ram upgrade but at this juncture am now completely at a loss as to what to do next. The 2200 will support 2Gb ram so why cant I load it?

I have an Acer 5003WLMi and I would like to add 1GB of memory. I did a crucial scan and they recommended some memory, specifically the DDR-PC2700 1GB CT478616. Now, I was ready to buy it, but on Amazon I did a search for DDR-PC2700 memory and found another 1GB DDR-PC2700, this time with part number CT12864X335. Given the sensitivity here, I would like reassurance, so is there any difference in these two parts and is it okay to buy the memory from Amazon, or should I just buy the one Crucial recommended?
Here are the links for each memory from Crucial.

I have been looking into upgrading my Acer aspire 5610-4537 laptop every single place I looked said something different I finally decided I would trust the website www.crucial.com and there crucial system scanner tool which worked perfect and was correct even thought everyone else said it was wrong. My CPU had 2 caches for 2x512mb to make a 1gig of ram which is no where near enough for this laptop to be running windows vista or even thinking of running multiple programs. So after I ran the crucial scanner tool it told me what ram I had currently and how much I could add to my system it picked 2 GB 200pin ddr2 sodimm 256x64 pc2-5300 dual die so I ordered two of them to bring my system to 4gigs. I was a little worried because I do only have a 32bit operating system but all I had to was unplug the old chips and insert the new ones and press power and that was it no updates no changing bios or operating system so I would highly recommend using this web site.

My brother just bought an Acer Aspire 3680.He purchased 1 gig of DDR2 Memory from Crucial. When we get to the desktop the screen is fine at first then the screen goes off and back on with 8 bit display. 512 DDR2 came in the machine. Crucial site said he could mix memory sizes. I tried it with the 1 gig stick by itself in case the mixed memory was the problem. Same thing..I've tried 2 sticks of 512...same thing. I've tried 2 sticks of 1 gig each..same problem. This laptop won't allow any upgrade at all. Will only run correctly with (1) 512 stick. I've never seen this problem before. I've installed many memory sticks in computers. This is a first for me. What could be causing this?? Any advice would be appreciated. BTW. the computer shows the upgrade amount of memory but the display color keeps changing to 8 Bit! I change it back to 32 and it reverts back after a few moments to 8 Bit. I went to Acer and installed an updated driver for the Intel Graphics card thinking the driver would help. I haven't installed a bios update yet. Called Acer and they said to return it for repair.

One of the things that truly bugged me about this laptop was that it only shipped with 533MHz RAM (PC2-4200) when the hardware supported 667MHz (PC2-5300). When I started looking to upgrade I was bugged again that the 667MHz memory I was finding had a CAS Latency of 5 where the 533MHz ran at CL4. Then I finally located some 667MHz CL4 memory and decided to pull the trigger.
I am happy with the purchase and would recommend the upgrade to anyone with this laptop. I can't say if I used the best memory benchmarking program, but at the very least I can publish my results using SiSoftware Sandra Lite:
1) Memory Bandwidth test (HIGHER is better)
2) Memory Latency test (LOWER is better for both)
3) Cache & Memory test (HIGHER is better for Combined, LOWER is better for Speed factor)
PC4200 CL4 2x1GB (Original memory)
1) Memory bandwidth 3524 MB/s
2) Memory latency 138 ns, Speed factor 66.0
3) Cache & memory Combined index 9375 MB/s, Speed factor 14.2
PC5300 CL5 2x1GB (borrowed from a friend during the upgrade for reference)
1) Memory bandwidth 3588 MB/s
2) Memory latency 122 ns, Speed factor 63.7
3) Cache & memory Combined index 9645 MB/s, Speed factor 13.3
PC5300 CL4 2x1GB
1) Memory Bandwidth: 3663 MB/s
2) Memory Latency: 114 ns, Speed factor 55.2
3) Cache & Memory: Combined index 9910 MB/s, Speed factor 12.6.......

I have an aspire 5251-1513 with win7 home premium 64bit OS. It came with 2 gig and I'm trying to add a 4 gig memory stick. Win 7 recognizes it now has 5 gig, but won't use the 4 gig. I've tried find a place in bios to make a memory change but can't locate any place to do that. I've tried use the new 4GB stick by its sleep but the laptop won't boot up then. How to get win7 to use this memory?

I just updated my Acer Aspire 5735 notebook from 3gb DDR2 to 4gb DDR2. The bios now detects 4gb total as does Vista's System Page (Control Panel/System in Ultimate 64bit)
However when i go to task manager/performance my total physical memory shows up as 3000MB and the Physical Memory Usage graph seems to reflect this 3gb total.
Is there something I need to do to get vista to detect and utilise the 4gb total?

I have a 2.5 year old E1705 notebook. I'm going to upgrade to W7 soon and in the process I thought I'd upgrade my memory from 2GB to 4GB.
I ran Dell's utility from their tech support page and it seems to be the case that the maximum my computer will support is 2GB! Is that possible?
In any case, I ran a diagnostic program (from Dell's utility) and it says my computer has two memory slots, and currently each slot on my computer has "Dual In-line Memory Module 1GB, 533, 128X64, 8K, 200", whatever that means.
I assume the 533 is memory speed (Hz) value. So according to Dell's utility, I am unable to increase the amount of RAM, but I could, for instance, "upgrade" to better chips (i.e., Dell sells DDR2 SDRAM Memory Speed: 800 MHz). Price would be $56.

When I play games my psychical memory shoots up to almost 100% and have a very low fps. I was wondering if there is a way to improve this. Is my system eligible to get another gig?

Anyway, any advice on applications that I should be using? I mean, other than the ones stated here (a superb guide by Sam if i might add)
I plan to install Windows to do some programming (job requirements, visual studio 2008 bla bla bla). Should I upgrade my memory to 2 x 2gb? Currently considering between boot camp and vmware...

My hdd crapped out and I'm replacing it - I am toying with the idea of upping my memory as well. Current memory:
DUAL IN-LINE MEMORY MODULE, 256, 333, 32X64, 8K, 200
I am looking at one stick of:
Transcend 1GB 200-Pin DDR SO-DIMM DDR 266 (PC 2100) Notebook Memory Model TS128MSD64V6A - Retail
I mainly use office and surf the net.
PROCESSOR, 80535, 1.5G, 1M, PENTIUM M BANIAS, PLASTIC GRID ARRAY, INSPIRON
1) Given my usage and proc, is adding 1gb overkill?
2) Is there any advantage to getting 2 new sticks of 512, rather than one new stick of 1gb and 1 old stick of 128mb?
3) Is there any advantage to getting higher-speed ram (PC>2100)?
