View 5 RepliesI got an Acer Aspire 5520 with an AMD 64 X2 TL-58 (1,9 Ghz) and want to upgrade to an AMD 64 X2 TL-68 (2,4 Ghz). Can someone tell me what I need to do and if it's possible to do?
It's sade that I need to know things about BIOS and other things to make this work.
I have bought acer aspire 5520 G laptop.
Now when i press the power button it start and after some processing shows the following:
Linpus Linux Basic Edition v9.2 b060419c
[root@ localhost /]#
i dont understand this command [root@ localhost /]# and after this command cursor is blinking to write some thing.
I've try to install windows xp, i've changed BIOS priority and put cd on first place, saved changes in BIOS and restarted my laptop and here comes a problem...
It will not boot windows from cd! I' ve tried with F8, F3 etc. I know that windows cd is ok because I've tried it on my old comp few minuts ago!
I have a Aspire 5520-5912 laptop I am trouble shooting for a relative that randomly shuts down just before, or shortly after it boots to windows.
I have tested the hard drive in my Desktop and scanned it for viruses, swapped out the memory, re applied thermal paste on the cpu heat sink and made sure it was not clogged with dust.
I think I have it narrowed down to a bad MB or CPU but was wandering if anyone else has had any issues like this and what the problem was.
I think my cpu and gpu temps are too high. The idle temps are: cpu: 40-50°C, gpu: 60-70°C. I'm installing WoW now, and the cpu is 74°C, the gpu 75°C. My CPU is: AMD Turion 64 x2 TL-60 (2.0 GHz), graphic card: NVIDIA GeForce 8400M G. I'm using SpeedFan to watch the temps.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a new OTB acer aspire 5520, and on initial booting everything worked sweetly but when i am trying to access my crystal eye cam on YM or any IM programs it says the webcam is not connected, Now I checked device manager and there is no webcam, so i installed the driver from the erecovery management tool I tried first the BISON driver and utility without success upon installation the program says the computer should display a "found new hardware" message, but nothing showed up. then when it restarted my machine and when i checked on device manager still no cam... next i uninstalled the BISON driver and installed the 2nd one (SUYIN) with the same results. I searched the support and download section of ACER online and tried a third driver the CHICONY and still the same results.. Finally i re installed my system to full factory default and re tried everything still the same problems...

View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm in the repair field and I've got a customer's Aspire 5520 that was brought in for overheating. The machine had gone to Iraq, and the customer has indoor dogs..so yes, the fins on the heat pipe were very clogged. Got it all cleaned out, and the machine is still shutting itself off after between 10 minutes and 30 seconds of use.
Now, the machine isn't overheating. SpeedFan and a few other CPU temp utilities are showing the CPU to be around 45*c when the machine is randomly shutting down. 45c is not what I'd consider hot for a Turion x2.
It's not a RAM issue, I've replaced the CPU and am getting the same symptoms.
I have an Acer Aspire 5520 laptop with 320gb hd space .. 8600m gs video card ... 4gb ram... Vista 32-bit oem.. etc.
The problem is that I've just accidentaly deleted my whole OS.
I booted with my Vista 64-bit disc so I could format one of my drives, but I stupidly formatted the wrong one. (the one with my OS)
So now I just installed Vista 64-bit on it, so I could at least do something with my laptop (watch dvds etc.), but I can't get the internet to work anymore because of all the important stuff that got deleted.
What I was using was some public WLAN.
Now it complains that a network adapter doesn't exist.. or something like that. I don't even know what that is.
Is there any way I can fix this myself? I just need to get my internet to work again.
Bougth a Acer Aspire 5520 couple of weeks ago, tried to install XP on it, thing crashed. Back on normal Vista (not from recovery) and installed the Nvidia driver(101.54 / 32 bit) which comes wit the acer website and the Nforce driver for network connction etc. Got a Gforce 8400M G with a AMD Turion64 X2(1.8 Ghz)
Now when i try gaming on this thing it's totally wack. Installed Counter-strike and World of warcraft, and both run not good... It's just lagging a lot, not internet lag, graphics lag. I tried downloading some other drivers, but no one seems to be working, mostly getting the message: 'u need a Vista 64 bit for this driver, and u have a Vista 64bit' or 'the hardware for this driver cannot be found'. No idea what to do to fix this problem according to drivers... could be really simple.
I have a acer aspire 5520 with the following problem: when I start him take fan rotate the battery light comes on, but also nothing. He continues then just restart and should I remove the battery to stop this.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've had my Acer Aspire 5520 for about 6 months now, and I did not get a warranty with it. Within the last month or so the fan has begun to get really loud. I have ways of quieting it down temporarily, hanging it off the table or propping it up, but even then the fan will burst into loud, annoying noises suddenly and for no apparent reason. It's kinda like a click-click-click noise, like when you put a strip of paper into a house fan (I know we all did this as a kid...) and the blades hit the paper as they go by, making really obnoxious noises...
So anyway, I'm just wondering if this is fixable, or if it isn't where I can find a replacement fan that works for my computer. I'm a software junky, and I don't really know enough about hardware, so when I went on Newegg and Frys websites I was unable to figure out what kind of fans would work for my laptop. If anyone has any ideas I would really appreciate it, as I spend a lot of time in the library at my school and I don't want to disturb everyone else in the whole building. In fact, when ever I shop for laptops, keyboards are one of the first things I look at- if the keyboard is too loud or awkward I will NOT buy that laptop.
I have an Acer Aspire 5520, and require the original CD/CD's supplied with the machine.
I do not believe requesting copies is illegal, seeing as I own the machine, its out of warranty now, and Acer UK can't help
I have upgraded to Windows 7 x64 (a fair while ago) and rencently it has started to come up with "No sound device installed" over the speaker icon in the sys tray.
This happens about 50% of the time when the computer has started up.
It never has any issues once the sound is working.
When the sound is not working "Sound, Video and Game Controllers" in Device manager is missing and i cant find the "Reltek HD Audio" device any where else in device manager.
It's just had a freash install of the OS and is still not working reliably.
It's got the latest Win 7 x64 drivers from RelTek
I just started my Aspire 5520 laptop, and when I get to the desktop an error pops up saying that I can't access the location of my desktop (C:Windowssystem32configsystemprofileDesktop)
Only thing which shows up on the desktop is the recycle bin.
The Vista theme is changed to classic and I can't get it back.
Internet doesn't work
Sound doesn't work
I can't open the control panel (in safe mode I can, but not all of the icons are there that should be there)
In the task manager there's only 4 processes running:
eplorer.exe csrss.exe taskmgr.exe (of course) and winlogo.exe
I think I can open all of my programs that I got installed, but basically I almost can't do anything else.
I've been trying to use system restore, but even in safe mode it won't open.
I just got a Aspire 5520 from a friend. Before I restored it to factory i was able to connect to my secure wireless network. Now that i have restored it, I can connect but then the enet mangatment will connect but then disconnect. but the windows icon says its connected. but it will not get past my router or anything and if i try to acess my router from my aspire it will not load the page. my router is fine i have several other devieces connected to it that have no problem. I have checked my router settings to make sure the settings in the comp is right i have a wpa2-personal with a apk securtiy. the router itslef is a belkin n600. since this machine is not under warrenty i cann't ask acer support. Â Also i can connect to any unsecured with no problem
View 9 Replies View RelatedI bought an Acer Aspire 5520 few years ago. It has a partition with Windows Vista installed on that. Unfortunately that partition is deleted completely so I can not recover my laptop to its factory setting.

Is there anyway that I can install that original windows Vista again? I looked behind my laptop and there is a label with a product key. Is that useful?

i have an Acer Aspire 5520-5912 laptop. It has a AMD Turion 64 X2 Dual-Core Proccessor Running at 1.9 ghz. if Anyone Knows, please tell me, What is the PLL For this chipset? I want to overclock the proccesor to about 2.0 or even 2.1, no higher so i dont burn the chipset. Also if anyone else has any advice for Aspire 5520 Laptop's please tell me.
id like to know what do you think the estimated FPS for Counterstrike Source would be on this laptop.

Yesterday, I've been told by an Acer representative that I should upgrade my BIOS as soon as I mentioned slowdown.
So I decided to upgrade with the BIOS from the site at Acer PanAm.
As soon as it said it was making a backup of the BIOS I previously had, it blacked out and turned off. Upon boot, my screen was black, my LEDs were flashing despite the only keys working were Caps and NumLock; and pressing the power button once would turn it off.
So then, as I thought Google was my friend, I searched for guides on how to do a BIOS recovery. Thing is, I don't remember my BIOS version, and I needed to go buy a USB floppy drive to do the Crisis Recovery Disk method. So I managed to buy one for $15, and tried the Fn+Esc solution correctly and endlessly with many BIOS versions, but to no avail.
Also, the laptop had to be downgraded to XP, as when it was previously a Vista with only 766MB of RAM, I couldn't do jack with it without slowing down like an elderly person on Ritalin. Maybe this has something to do with Acer's BIOS being Vista-only?
I suck with computers, so I dunno. I've been told I should change my BIOS chip.
I was playing a game and alt tabbed then i got a blue screen and my computer restarted. After it restarted a  blue screen popped up saying activate windows now. What should i do and how do i fix this , because of this my office stopped working as well.
View 1 Replies View RelatedJust wanted to share my upgrade experience with my Aspire 4736z. My model did not come with bluetooth installed from the factory and it only has 3 usb ports and I wanted to keep them as free as possible.
So I found a place that sells the bluetooth module and cable needed.
I installed the module and cable and everything works great. Installed the driver and now my bluetooth button works as it should.
Here is the link to the place where I bought the module from:

It has the light on the top right, unlit. Cannot find anything to do with bluetooth in control panel and when i google it i get crap.
I have the aspire 5740G. I use an external BT keyboard. When I shut down or restart, bluetooth is always switched off (indication light is not illuminated). I can not log on with my BT keyboard.
Once I am logged on (using Aspire keyboard), I have to manually push the bluetooth button (or Fn + F3) and everything works. I have turned the power-saving feature off, with no effect.
i have a 4720 but i cant figure out bluetooth
