I own the netbook listed above and I would like rotate the screen orientation 180 degrees. CTRL+ALT+ DOWN doesn't work. Apparently the factory screen isn't capable of it. Can I replace it with a different, but compatible screen that IS capable?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just bought an Acer Aspire D255E with a cracked display. I tested it and it worked fine. Replaced the display with a brand new one, and the result is that it comes on, displays the opening screen, briefly flashes what looks like the screen you get when you shut down abnormally,then powers down. It will also power down in about the same time if I F2 into the BIOS.

My netbook was working fine until suddenly I lost connectivity. A popup window over the connection logo in the tray--bars with a red X over them--says network proxy settings can't be detected. When I click on the little wrench icon, it also says detected, but then there's a yellow triangle with an exclamation point in it.
I tried the fixes in the troubleshooting netbooks area of this site, but they didn't work. Clicked on the connection logo, it says Windows couldn't automatically detect this network's proxy settings. Under detection details, it gives the file name 1A40D7A3-7CDE-40F4-195E4ADD6327.Diagnose.Admin.0.etl for network diagnostics log; for other networking configuration and logs, it's NetworkConfiguration.cab .Â

When I logon, the popup says it can't connect to System Event Notification Service; also says review System Event log. I've tried looking for those, but can't find them.

I also get a message saying I need to change my Windows Update settings; when I click on it, I click on the highlighted automatic install, but keep getting this message.

There are NO programs installed outside of the Factory Programs except for MS Security Essentials, and Maliwarebytes.

That said, it is VERY SLOW and sometimes UNRESPONSIVE to keyboard commands. I know this isn't a high level PC, but is there anything I can do to speed it up so we can search eBay, Facebook and other sites. No hard computing is needed, just basic simple functions. It's just to slow now and basically no one will use it.

My Inspiron 13 7000 2-in-1 laptop, after having the screen and hinges replaced due to other problems (ghost touches), now won't auto rotate the screen when in tablet mode. The keyboard is also functional when the screen is pushed back past 90 degrees, so when the keyboard is on my laptop but the screen is facing me. This doesn't happen in true tablet mode however.I've tried reinstalling all of the up-to-date drivers; chipset, BIOS, along with the ST Microelectronics 3-Axis Digital Accelerometer Driver.
There are a number of issues I can highlight that stop this from working;
1) in device manager there is no entry for ST Microelectronics 3-Axis Digital Accelerometer Driver, nor Accelerometer or anything I presume makes this function work. There is a Sensors collection, but nothing in there I think is it,. There is also no 'Unknown' device listed.
2) I should see PopUp_DM.exe in the running services and in the startup selection of programs. This is nowhere to be seen.
3) I don't appear to have a "Sensors" applet
4) when I choose 'Normal Startup' in msconfig & then reboot, it goes back to the bottom option, Selective startup. Is this something I need to do via the Dell BIOS Advanced Options?
Other than doing a full restore, which I loathe to do again as already prompted by Dell previous to this issue, what can I do? A bit worried that when Dell replaced my screen they didn't refit or include the accelerometer!
I have an issue when using the HDMI port.With the Yoga 3Â in Laptop mode, when I plug in the HDMI port, the screen flips 180 degrees and then flips back when I unplug it.It also flips back correctly when I close the lid.Is there a setting that I need to change to prevent this from happening?
View 3 Replies View RelatedRecently bought a dell inspiron 11 and after completing the latest windows update the autorotate function does not work at all. I am still able to rotate the screen using the cntl alt arrow keys, however I miss the convenience of the auto rotate. Also the keyboard is not disable until totally being flipped into tablet position. All drivers and components show to be working in the device manager. I have looked into all of the video settings and auto rotate is not listed as n option. Again, I noticed the problem after I did the latest windows update.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell E5540 laptop and the touchpad is working fine, except that it won't zoom or rotate. All other gestures work as they should - scrolling, three finger-gestures, ...: no problem. But no zooming or rotating.
Both options are of course enabled in the Dell Touchpad settings. I have removed the touchpad from the device manager and reinstalled it with the most recent drivers, but to no avail.
I think it's a software problem since scrolling with two fingers works without a problem?
I'm using Aspire V5-473PG.

Recently I noticed that my touch screen sometimes starts to hits randomly at the bottom of the screen. This problem cause some windows became minimize and maximize on its own and when i'm watching video, the video keep pause, play and pause again. I tried to find any crack on the screen but found nothing.Â
I am really concerned, having read everything about cooling on here. It starts at about 72 degrees, then goes up to ~96 degrees when I have a game open
Is this OK, or do i have a case to contact Dell and get them to look at it? It's 10 months old.
The GPU (8400M GS) temp at normal activities (web browsing, no Flash) is around 80-85 C, and under stress it's 100 C (yes, 100 degrees, just like boiling water). The CPU at normal is around 50 and HDD around 47 degrees. I am going to call Dell, but I was wondering what should I ask them: to replace the motherboard with the graphics card OR to replace the computer? I don't have any extra warranty, just the default minimum. I bought it about 10 months ago, so it's still under the "main" warranty.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI'm running a generation one Dv7t. Lately my cpu and gpu would run absurdly hot even under minimal load such as internet browsing and music. Watching a video would send my my gpu into the 80's, and with gaming now often peak at over 100. Idle temps are in the mid 50's for the gpu and 40's for the cpu. It used to be much cooler with heavy load only peaking out at the mid 80's. Underclocking efforts have been useless as most of the programs:rivatuner, ntune, atitool, refuse to work properly. And the above temperatures are reached even with the back elevated half an inch with a cooler underneath. I haven't gotten the chance to blow out the insides clean of dust, but since this notebook is just a little of a year old I don't think the dust build up could be this critical. Anyone have any ideas why my notebook is running so hot or more solutions to cool it off.

It won't go down unless I turn it off or rev up the fans.
I have a Studio 1558 and the Ac adapter is running very hot all the time. I used an infrared thermometer to see just how hot it was, and I got a reading of +150°F. I just want to know if this could be some type of fire hazard or something

I have noticed that my touch stops responding to touch when the ambient temperature goes above 22 degrees C. To be clear the laptop is not hot, the laptop is at room temperature. Nothing to do with the fan or laptop cooling. When the ambient temperature drops below 22 degrees C it start working again. Do I need to put it in for a repair?
i just discovered this recently after running left 4 dead on my computer. every 5-10 min when playing the game, everything would slow down and become a slide show for about 10-20 seconds before returning back to normal. i assume this is because of my GPU/CPU becoming too hot and they were downclocked to prevent damage to the motherboard.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have had my 17R SE for almost half a year, I am not sure when it started but recently when I play games such as Crysis 3, the GPU temperature will exceed 90 degrees Celsius. This is not normal. I am pretty sure that the fan is not working at its maximum potential as when I tried to resolve the problem by flashing to the newest BIOS, the fan noise was significantly louder than it was when I was playing games. I have also tried the system diagnosis and it said everything is working fine.

I bought a new fan and installed it. After closing it up and turning it on, it only gets to the ACER screen and then recycles.

I probably inadvertantly corrupted the BIOS, or is it something else? Â Can I flash the BIOS without having a working BIOS?
When you open the machine to boot, I must open in the corner from 0-40 degrees. I have to slid hand to press the Power button, the computer boots normally into Windows 7. Then:
- When I open angle greater than 40 degrees (40-180 degrees), the machine switches to sleeping.
- When closed off the screen in less than 40 degree angle, the machine is turned on (switch to normal working mode)
When I turn on my laptop ,ocassionaly, the screen turns white. At first i thought it was a driver issue because it would only happen when windows loaded. But now it does it when i turn it on before windows starts loading, leading me to believe that this is a hardware issue. does anyone know what i should replace in the laptop inorder to fix this problem?

when i switch the laptop on the screen comes on full white and then fades slowly to the bios screen (no hdd installed right now). I put a windows vista installation cd in to test it further and it faded slowly to the installation screen, everything moved in slow motion, the mouse cursor moved across the screen really slowly and leaves a trail. I've replaced the ribbon cable and that hasn't fixed it, it's not a motherboard fault that i know of because i've plugged an external monitor in and that worked so i've narrowed it down to either being a fault with the lcd or with the inverter.
i'll try to get a video of what i'm trying the explain, it's difficult, the screen sort of fades into view in blotches and patches all over.
Im running windows 8.1 64 bit Acer Aspire E1-470, I notice my screen keeps on flickering, its like a heartbeat impulse, it dims and gets back light again its not severe but it annoys me alot!

The laptop was sent off with a fault to the screen. It intermittently flickers, mainly when the screen is moved, but sometimes not. The laptop was sent off to Acer 3-4 weeks ago and was returned last week. A report was returned with the laptop and reads as follows:

And of course I'd been without it for 3 weeks and just wanted to turn it on again!! lol (On a sidenote, I had asked them to check the disk drive also, because back when I first got it, it struggled to read any type of disk. This explains the apparent replacement disk drive)................
