HP Envy TS 15-j051ea Display :: Touchscreen Stops Responding At 22 Degrees
Apr 18, 2013
HP ENVY TouchSmart 15-j051ea
I have noticed that my touch stops responding to touch when the ambient temperature goes above 22 degrees C. To be clear the laptop is not hot, the laptop is at room temperature. Nothing to do with the fan or laptop cooling. When the ambient temperature drops below 22 degrees C it start working again. Do I need to put it in for a repair?

Windows 8 64 bitProduct Number: E9G80UAI recently bought this about 4 months ago and it did fine for a little while. But recently it would do this annoying glitch. The screen would act as if I am pressing the screen somewhere in the middle of it and selecting anything within it's range. This may not seem so bad by the sounds of it, but if you're playing a video or are on a website with links in that area it will either click on a link or stop/play videos. It's very annoying!
Troubleshooting: At first I thought it might be my touchpad, so I made sure I didn't touch it during these times. But it would still do it even if I'm not touching the laptop. So if I were to only use my wireless mouse to go through webpages or whatever, it would still do the phantom clicking.I then thought maybe it's my wireless mouse, so I disconnected the USB receiver from the laptop and it still does it.I then tried getting tech support online with HP and they accessed my computer and tried a few things like removing the touchpad driver and whatnot with no results. He eventually told me I would have to send it to them to have it repaired (still in warranty). However, I don't have the time to send my laptop to them for repairs.
My final thought was to disable the touch screen. Which I did by going to device managers and disabling one of the HID options. I had several, so I had to try each one since none were labeled as touch screen, but only as HID compliant device. This has worked so far and it hasn't clicked anywhere yet.
I thought about updating the driver, but I can't find it on the HP site and when I try to update driver through device manager it says that it has the best driver available, which most of the time is BS. I guess I just need to know where I can find the true driver for the touch screen.

I am having a problem with my Vaio Z with a fresh install, relating to the automatic keyboard backlight and display backlight adjustment, and manual control of the display backlight adjustment with the Fn keys.
So from a fresh boot or reboot, automatic brightness control of both devices seems to work fine. The Fn key combos will also work correctly to control display backlight. And then seemingly at random, ambient light sensor control will freeze, and the function keys will no longer manually adjust brightness. It seems to happen regardless of which graphics setting I'm using, and it also happens even with both ambient light sensor functions turned off.
I've got all of the latest drivers and software from Sony's website installed (sans non-essentials,) so I'm not sure what could be going wrong. Both the power management and event services are running. Has anyone else had this issue, and perhaps had better luck in solving it?

I don't have very good english but i try to explain the situatuion over here. Yesterday I wanted to install fresh windows to my notebook. I chose Windows Xp x64 edition. All went good until it wanted reboot after file coping. Now it wont boot up. Just stuck, no F keys working.
What i have tried to fix that issue.
Ram reseating(one by one, in different locations)
CMOS (clear bios)
If i remove the hard drive, notebooks works well with ubuntu live CD. But the hard drive is also OK, i checked that on another coputer. I made Hard Drive check test, it found nothing. I think something is messed up in Bios or smothing like that.

First year, my Yoga's touchscreen was always working correctly, regardless of connected USB devices.
Since some time, if I connect a device into USB 2.0 port, touchscreen gets immediately disabled, no more responding to any touch. In Device Manager, it is not showing any errors. I found a workaround that in Device Manager (HID Devices branch), touchscreen must be set Disabled, then Enabled and then it comes back online. But I know this action was never needed before.
I think it began happening around the time when I started to use Yoga with barcode scanner Heron D-130. But the problem is now happening regadless of USB device, even with devices which were not impacting the touchscreen before. Perhaps not barcode scanner, but some Windows update caused this. Do you have any solution for this so touchscreen will keep working after another USB 2.0 device is connected?

I've been having problems with this device since the day I bought it. The second day I owned it a bad pixel jumped onto the screen. After pushing it for some time physically on the surface of the screen it dissapears for another day or two.
But my biggest problem is taht sometimes touchpad simply stops responding to any gestures or mouse cursor keeps shaking on my screen. The only ting I can do is turn off the whole touchpad and wait for it to repair itself.
Also it happens that for no apparent reason my notebook behaves like as if I had been pressing CRTL button all the time, while I dont do it at all. Pressing S key alone makes it run into save options. Left clicking on the page makes it open in a new bookmark.

Product: HP Pavilion dv7-6015tx Entertainment Notebook PC
OS: Windows 7 32-bit
Status: Clean installed Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit from Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
I have been having several instances where the computer would seem to 'lag' then after some flickering rendering on my monitor, Windows would give the error: "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered."
There are still effects after this message is displayed. When dragging windows, scrolling up and down etc. graphics continue to flicker.
This is not while hardcore gaming, the GPU was not working in high temperatures. Interestingly, I do not have this problem when I am in the midst of hardcore gaming. The CPU was not under heavy load, the CPU was not working in high temperatures either. I checked the temperature with thermal monitoring (HWiNFO32).
I have plenty of resources, 1223MB of RAM to spare. I also have plenty of HDD space too. I have installed the latest graphic driver for my product: AMD High-Definition Graphics Driver, but the problem persists.

Has anyone seen this error on their VPC-Z series?
I've seen it twice now... it flashes up something about "188.8" or something but that vanishes quick. In Event Viewer, it says:
Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered.
Is it bad, or just iffy drivers? It recovers instantly.

Whenever I play games like Hearthstone in regular laptop mode everything is fine. However every time I switch to tablet, tent or stand mode, after less than a minute of playing, I get the error “"display driver stopped responding and has recovered". I even updated my Y2P to the latest Intel graphics driver and it didn’t work. I think it’s something about the tablet mode that’s making the graphics card or processor not function fully.

I'm using Lenovo Ideapad P500 for 16 months now. Windows 8.1.I've had this message saying "display driver stopped responding and has recovered" while on startup on my notification area. It's been quite a some time I have seen this messsage during startups. And, my laptop seems more slow during startup. I've tried "sfc/scannow" but the system seems fine. I did Disk cleanup and optimization regularly. No third-party software installed.
My laptop heats up. Its working fine not too hot during Morning and Evening, but heats up high during day time. I'm not using laptop cooler now, but I've ordered one. My laptop is getting old.

When I restart my computer, my sound works for an hour or two and then suddenly shuts off. It does this with or without headphones. It works again as soon as I restart the computer, but I'd really love not to have to restart my computer every hour just to get the sound to work.
Also- downloading Windows 8 isn't an option as a lot of my work is incompatible with windows 8.

I bought my Aspire E5-511G few days ago.
I installed Windows 7 professional (x64) successfully.
I installed all the drivers downloaded form the support section also successfully.
The problem is that on approximately every 5~10 minutes I get the following message:
"display driver intel hd graphics drivers for windows 8(r) stopped responding and has recovered".
This message by itself is not annoying. The problem is that during skype video call after getting this message I don't see anymore nor my own video nor the video of the called.
Not only this, restarting the call does not fix the problem.
The only solution is to restart skype but this also does not work everytime.
I had similar issue with youtube videos but I fixed the problem by setting NVIDIA as preferred graphics processor for the browser application, however I don;t have such option for skype.

A few weeks ago I cracked my glossy 1366x768 display on my Envy DV6 7227SA (product number C4V06EA#ABU). I have found a replacement online (part number 682089-001) but I was wondering if I could replace it with a matte 1920x1080 display (Part number 682090-001). I'm running Windows 8 64 bit
EDIT: This is the part I currently have in my notebook (broken) - [URL] ....
And this is what I'm wanting to replace it with - [URL] .....

Today, I tried connecting an external display to my HP ENVY TouchSmart 15 laptop, via a USB hub, only to discover that using the touch screen points at the corresponding part of the external display rather than the inbuilt one (the displays are being extended). Can this be changed?
I'm using the same 64-bit Windows 8 installation and drivers that the computer came with.

Currently whenever I startup my laptop the display flickers. If windows fully boots or I try to enter one of the startup menus the will flash briefly on the screen and then the display will return to and remain black.
I am able to run an HDMI cable to my TV and it seems to be running fine other than going black with the occasional distorted picture of windows booting.

I am really concerned, having read everything about cooling on here. It starts at about 72 degrees, then goes up to ~96 degrees when I have a game open
Is this OK, or do i have a case to contact Dell and get them to look at it? It's 10 months old.

The GPU (8400M GS) temp at normal activities (web browsing, no Flash) is around 80-85 C, and under stress it's 100 C (yes, 100 degrees, just like boiling water). The CPU at normal is around 50 and HDD around 47 degrees. I am going to call Dell, but I was wondering what should I ask them: to replace the motherboard with the graphics card OR to replace the computer? I don't have any extra warranty, just the default minimum. I bought it about 10 months ago, so it's still under the "main" warranty.

I'm running a generation one Dv7t. Lately my cpu and gpu would run absurdly hot even under minimal load such as internet browsing and music. Watching a video would send my my gpu into the 80's, and with gaming now often peak at over 100. Idle temps are in the mid 50's for the gpu and 40's for the cpu. It used to be much cooler with heavy load only peaking out at the mid 80's. Underclocking efforts have been useless as most of the programs:rivatuner, ntune, atitool, refuse to work properly. And the above temperatures are reached even with the back elevated half an inch with a cooler underneath. I haven't gotten the chance to blow out the insides clean of dust, but since this notebook is just a little of a year old I don't think the dust build up could be this critical. Anyone have any ideas why my notebook is running so hot or more solutions to cool it off.
