HP OS/Software :: Envy TouchSmart 15-j050ex / Support Assistant Not Responding After Update
Jul 14, 2014
im running a HP ENVY TouchSmart 15-j050ex Notebook PC, i recently updated my drivers after which my HP support assistant stops responding right after opening it.
I've had a HP Envy 15 touchsmart laptop (Windows 8 originally, windows 8.1 now) for about 2 months now and haven't had any problems, till a few hours ago i attempted to update the bios of my laptop using the hp support assistant. After the restart, the pc would no longer start up and took me to a blue screen with the error message SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED. Everything I have done so far short of a refresh or reset has not worked and if i could I would like to avoid both as I do not have the bandwith to go download windows 8.1 again.
HP Pavilion dv7-6175us notebook pc, Windows 7 64 bit I haven't made any major changes, no new software or hardware installed (just the usual gazillion updates for every **bleep** program and operating system) I have tried uninstalling and re-installing HP support assistant several times, but still keep getting the same error message, something about HPSA.exe encountering a fatal error, yadda yadda yadda, end of the world everyone run screaming into the streets.
I am using HP pavillion g6 2301ax with windows 8.1 installed on it. I tried to run the hp support assistant but it didn't run.  The program opens but it remains blank. It does not show anything on it, only hp support assistant is written on the top.  After I close the program, automatically a message appears "Hp support assistant is not working. Windows is finding a solution to it." Then the message disappears.
hp pavilion g7 notebook pc  product number C5E41UA#ABA  Windows 8 64-bit  Before, it would not play any sound, now it will play the support assistant narration, but nothing else.  For a while, it has been playing sound every now and then, now it will not at all, except for the narration.
I have problem to check HP Updates using HP Support Assistant for last two months. It always fail downloading updates. Latest analysis was at 9 Oct 2011.  How to fix this problem? When I check latest version of HP Support Assistant, it says it is the latest version.  My computer is HP Pavilion dv7-6107tx Entertainment Notebook PC.
Yesterday i upgraded my laptop (Touchsmart tm2 2001) to windows 8.1 and had the same problem that some people here : the upgrade was fine, but at the end it could not reboot (blank screen with blue Windows, loading, loading, and restarting again, and again ...)  I succeeded to reboot with the no error mode, and solved the problem : i desctivated the intel graphics driver (i could not update anything in no error mode) it was ok, i could reboot, and reboot again.  Then i decided to let windows update do the rest... and it did pretty well... till the last reboot...
From this moment, the computer does not even launch the Windows first window... I see the boot 'Press Esc...' and it switches straight on a black screen with the cursor waiting, at the left top corner of the screen... no HD activity, nothing... Â May i change a file or something with an other pc accessing to the HD, to solve this problem or do i have to reinstall windows ?
NB : the Esc then F11 - Restore procedure does the same thing...
v3460 just puchased 2 weeks ago.Dell support software stopped responding. I had run the program the first week, using the key button. program ran fine.
Yesterday tried it, program stopped working, the program is mysteriously gone. I have tried to reinstall from the dell downloads, It will not complete without an error.Tried system restore. No luck.No restore points available for 1st week of purchase.
I wanted to downgrade my new HP ENVY 15 TouchSmart 15-j023ea to Windows 7 because it's more familiar/usual to me, but unforunately I've noticed that my laptop does not appear in HP's driver list  Also, recent Envy 15 TouchSmart models do not have windows 7 drivers (At least this is what I've seen)  My laptop came with Windows 8 Installed. I installed my windows 7 on this machine and realised I have NO drivers for it... That's the reason I came back to windows 8 right now, and try to find a solution.  I really want to downgrade to windows 7 x64. Are there any drivers for this OS?
Windows 8.1 Pro does not recognize Touchsmart. This work like a mouse when I click on the display. In properties of system, says that won't have a pen and touch.  »HP ENVY 15t-j100 Quad Edition CTO Notebook PC (ENERGY STAR) Product Number:  F5G56AAR
I cannot view the desktop on the display of my Envy 17t quad touchsmart laptop with Windows 8, although others images, such as the screen saver can be seen.
I have a HP Envy TouchSmart 15t-j000 and I want to enter bios. When I restart the computer just the HP logo appears. I've tried to press ESC, F1 - F12, insert, delete, home, end... Nothing works. Do you know how I can do this?
HP ENVY TouchSmart 15-j051ea  I have noticed that my touch stops responding to touch when the ambient temperature goes above 22 degrees C. To be clear the laptop is not hot, the laptop is at room temperature. Nothing to do with the fan or laptop cooling. When the ambient temperature drops below 22 degrees C it start working again. Do I need to put it in for a repair?
I am using a HP pavilion 15 016tx laptop that runs on windows 8. I am trying to update to Windows 8.1, but im unable to do so. I tried it by formatting my laptop and selecting the update from windows store, but it asked me to update windows, which i did, but not the option is not available . I tried to update from Microsoft wibsite but it the store says my laptop is running on a OS that does not support update..  Earlier last month i was able to open the update option but as i didn't had time so i did not use it.
I have an HP Envy dv7-7230us.  I recently installed multiple HP updates deemed "critical" by their prompt.  After installing and rebooting, I have no sound.  If it is a clue, it also disconnected my WiFi.
I just killed my favorite laptop Envy4-1130us. I decided to update BIOS from v.13 to v.25 During update process, OS (Win8.1) hangt up. No errors was shown. After few hours laptop restarted, and now it's not works. Power led is on, system fan works on full load, but screen is black and system is not responding (OS doesn't start and power button not responding). Is an this laptop BIOS recovery console?
My laptop was beginning to slow down so I've done a reinstall of windows and wiped my SSD clean (I replaced the original HDD with an SSD a while back).  Because of this I've not got a backup partition containing my drivers.  My fingerprint sensor has stopped working.  It says an error has occured whenever I try to use it even though my fingerprint was saved in my user accounts as a sign in option.  Where do I get the driver for this?  Also, I now no longer have HP Recovery Manager that had all of the drivers.  Where can I download this?  PS.  I've downloaded all the drivers on the HP website associated with my laptop here Laptop Drivers  These are the only two things that no longer work and it would be handy to get them sorted.
Have an HP Envy Touchsmart 15-j057cl. I am unable to update to Windows 8.1. I have done the following:  1. Installed all windows updates. 2. Gone to HP support page for machine and installed all driver updates. 3. Run Windows compatibility manager - no issues identified. 4. Removed preinstaled Norton. No virus software enabled. 5. Attempted update from Windows store. 6. Black screen.  Reverted to Windows 8. Windows reported various error messages across various attempts including:  0xc1900101 - 0x3000D   Then - 1. Disabled Ralink bluetooth and wifi drivers 2. Attempted windows 8.1 update from windows store 3. Black Screen  Reverted to windows 8  I've tried very hard to ensure I've gotten all of the latest drivers and BIOS, including chipset drivers. I have not installed any other software. I've also disabled any driver that I can afford not to have, yet the update continues to fail.  I need to get back to work.
I have updtaed my windows as regular update but after that no sound from speakers. laptop is showing everything is fine and all sound drivers all working fine so whenever i clicked on scan for hardware changes in device manager menu then speakers starts working fine so every time i have to make that step to enable speaker., already i have uninstalled drivers and updated with default updater but same issue occurs in next boot...
A few days ago I updated from the Windows 8.1 evaluation to the full 8.1 release and since then my audio has not been working. In the control panel, "Digital Display Audio (AMD High Definition Audio Device)" is listed as unplugged. The audio icon on the taskbar is Xed out and clicking it runs the error finder in vain. Speakers no longer show up in the device listing although now that nothing is working I'm not sure if they ever did or if audio just came through Digital Display Audio. Headphones do not show up as playback devices and the volume controls on the keyboard and taskbar are inaccessible.
I have never used external speakers. The Windows 8.1 update seemed to wipe all of my HP and AMD software that came with the laptop so I reinstalled the HP Support Center and searched for driver updates and all that jive but everything shows as up to date. I don't know what else to look for as most of the forums I've seen seem to be talking about their HDMI out sound not working when plugged into a TV and I'm just trying to have sound, period.

I have all current drivers and software. It came with Windows 8 and I am trying to install 8.1. It does well until the restart. I do the restart and it gets part way through and the screen goes dark and hours later the screen is still dark. I press the power button and it says something like :Trying to recover install" and from there on nothing happens. I finally end up having to go back to windows 8.
My notebook restarted itself to make updates, once i logged on i found that the sound is not working on music files, web pages etc. other than the windows sound. The other thing i noticed is that the mute button will not go off or on? i tried to troubleshoot but nothing..I found that left clicking my sound icon and clicking on playback devices and then left clicking speakers and headphones and clicking 'Test' led to a pop up; "Device in Use.The device is being used by another application. any devices that are playing audio to this device and try again." I have checked everywhere but i can't find the device being used anywhere? I'm not willing to lose by Beats Audio.  Product name: HP ENVY m6 Notebook PC Product number: C2C18EA#ABU Windows 8 64-bitÂ
I have the Envy 15 which came pre-installed with Win8. When the 8.1 update came out I installed and now can't get any audio when connecting via HDMI to my TV although image is there.  I've ensured all the drivers are updated AFAIK, but in the Device Manager I get the highlighted, obviously as above, the cable is plugged in.
All was working fine prior to the update and I have also used 4 different cables, which are all fine as I also have an old Compaq laptop which is still running Win8 allows audio via HDMI.
I have an HP Envy-m6 with switchable graphics, with the usual combination of an Intel HD 4000 and an AMD Radeon HD 7600M card. Â When I had just bought the laptop and hadn't realised it had switchable graphics, I made the mistake of updating the drivers for one of these cards via the manufacturer's websites, causing it all to go haywire. I eventually managed to restore this, and was told that the only way in which you can update these drivers is via the driver software offerend on the HP website (or perhap using HP Support Assistant). Â However, just today Windows Update indicated it had updates for both the AMD and Intel drivers. My question is simply this: can I update both drivers through Windows Update, or will this cause switchable graphics to break?
If I cannot use Windows Update to update these drivers, is HP going to release a combined driver package that incorporates these new drivers on the Support website at some point?
