I just purchased a Dell Inspiron N5050 laptop computer specifically because I wanted a computer that would support WiDi (IntelWireless Display) to my HDTV. I had been under the assumption that all current generation laptops included Intel Wireless Display technology.Â
After receiving the computer, I have just discovered that the wireless network card in this machine apparently does NOT support wireless display technology. Is there a way that I can replace the network card in this machine with one that DOES support wireless display technology or at least addan additional card to the machine that supports wireless display?
I just received a HP DV4T laptop that I purchased direct from HP. When the laptop was ordered one of the upgrades was an "Intel Wireless-N card with Bluetooth" Upon receiving and configuring the laptop I have discovered that what was actually installed was an Intel Wifi 1000 adapter, which only operates in the 2.4ghz frequency range. After getting transferred around HP for a while basically they could not tell me if this was a mistake or just what they offer (their website is very vague on what "wireless-N" adapter you get). They offered to either credit me for the $25 upgrade or I could return the laptop. I elected to get the credit as I am otherwise happy with the laptop.
I can easily replace the wi-fi card; however does anyone on this forum know if the laptop has the proper antenna to make use of a wireless N card that transmits on the 5ghz (and 2.4ghz) bands?
Or does it only support 1.8". If so could someone recommend me a good make/model?

View 3 Replies View RelatedAs an experiment I just installed WIN8 on my HP210 Mini. It seems to work just fine, except for the apps. WIN warns me that they cannot run because they require a resolution of 1060*768 wheras the original driver for the HP210 only supports up to 1060*600.

Today, I tried connecting an external display to my HP ENVY TouchSmart 15 laptop, via a USB hub, only to discover that using the touch screen points at the corresponding part of the external display rather than the inbuilt one (the displays are being extended). Can this be changed?

I'm using the same 64-bit Windows 8 installation and drivers that the computer came with.
Currently whenever I startup my laptop the display flickers. If windows fully boots or I try to enter one of the startup menus the will flash briefly on the screen and then the display will return to and remain black.Â

I am able to run an HDMI cable to my TV and it seems to be running fine other than going black with the occasional distorted picture of windows booting.
I have a g7-2246nr laptop with an AMD Radeon HD 7520 discrete class graphics card. The processor is an AMD A6-4400M. I am running WIndows 8.1 64 bit.

Dell support was atrocious. The only reason I can think of that this isn't working is because my laptop doesn't support it.

These are the only two things that no longer work and it would be handy to get them sorted.
I just purchased an Hp Envy m6 notebook PC m6-n168ca to replace my last Envy with a corrupt OS. I have a Microsoft wireless mobile mouse 4000 to use with it and I plugged in the usb connector and it installed automatically and successfully apparently. Unfortunately, the mouse is not being recognized on the screen. It works on my other laptops so i know it's not the mouse. This is my first touch screen laptop though so I am wondering if it has something to do with that? The trackpad mouse function works fine but I need to be able to use the mouse and the touch pad. Is this possible? Is there something I have to toggle on or off? How to change the mouse click settings and stuff.

I sometimes try to connect to a network, then the wireless led suddenly orange although Wireless is Enabled. My friend who has an XP system can connect to that network in the cafe just fine so does everybody else, but on my system, it says connecting, then the icon turns orange as if there was no wirelesss card installed.
I am using the Intel WiFi Link 5100 AGN v12.2.0.11 Driver which was installed through Windows Update along with HP Wireless Assistant v3.50.2.1
Now I have an orange icon for wireless, although wireless is enabled in both device manager and through the touch key.
the icon will turn blue if I restart and wireless access will be restored, but I will lose it again if I try to connect to a wireless network.
I don't know how to switch on the wireless on my Envy...

My problem is, in the past 6-7 hours of usage, I've lost connection 3 separate times. The first two times was fairly brief, lasting only a few minutes. I closed out the Internet Explorer Application, and upon reopening it and attempting to connect again, worked fine. The last occurrence, however, lasted 15-20 minutes and finally resulted in me just hard wiring it in.

I'm brand new to HP computers, and Windows 8 all together, so I'm not sure where to start first. I've searched around the web, and on the forums here, but haven't found a fix.

I use the wireless router daily (hard wired) for my Xbox 360, and rarely, if ever, has issues connecting.
I just got at new envy and wanted to reinstall windows 7, to get rid of all the preinstalled software.
After I reinstalled, windows 7 wasn't able to download the drivers it self so i had to do it manually. So I did and now i got two problems.
#1:I can't install my wireless network driver. I tried installing the driver on the website but without result. I can see the network card in the device manager though, as a unknown device called network controller. I've tried removing it, but that didn't work either.
#2:I can't get my volume up/down buttons too work. That's the only two quick buttons that doesn't work. I got the audio beats button working too.I tried installing the media packages on the hp website after reading on a website that this could be the problem, but i wasn't able to install the packages. The pc just opens the setup files, but after extracting nothing happens.
I had to revert to Windows 7 64 bit on this laptop. Â I have all the devices working except for the Bluetooth and Wireless features.
I have tried all drivers available from HP the Realtek and RALink.

It is coming up as a Network Controller and an Unknown Device.

I have also tried the windows update with no avail.
I have a HP ENVY TouchSmart 14t-k000 CTO Ultrabook. It just went out of warranty  a month or so ago but started blue-screening rigth after that - I had to reinstall Windows 8.1.

Since the install, my wifi has not been working properly. (I can use an Ethernet cable without a problem.) Sometimes it will say the wifi is connected with full bars, but then I get a "DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NO_INTERNET" when I try to pull up any browser and nothing will load. Other times it just won't connect at all. The weird thing is that 5%  of the time it will work fine, and I'll be able to use wifi no problem for a couple hours at a time.Â

What could possibly be going on? Is it a driver issue? Should I get a new network adapter? Is it a settings issue?
