HP EliteBook 8570w Display :: 90w Docking Station Support 3 Monitors?

View 3 RepliesCan the EliteBook 8570w on a 90w docking station support 3 monitors?
View 3 RepliesI just received my new t430 and having issue with dual monitors. I am using the Intel HD 4000. I have it connected to a ThinkPad Port Replicator Series 3 (Type 4336). The docking station only support VGA connection. My new t430 only has a VGA connection on the side.
I have 2 monitors. One is connected to the VGA on the docking station. The other is connected to the VGA on the t430 itself.
Â
While the machine is docked, Monitor #1 that is plugged into the docking station works, while Monitor #2 that is plugged into the t430 does not.
While undocked. Monitor #1 does work (obviously because undocked), but then Monitor #2 does work.
Â
So I know both monitors are working and configured for VGA input. My questions is, why can't both work at the same time? While undocked, I can use laptop screen and Monitor #2 as a dual monitor. So I don't believe there is something wrong with the Operating System (Windows 7).
Â
I used to be able to do this on my t420. With one monitor using VGA, and my other monitor using a DisplayPort. But looks like this model my company purchased doesn't support a DisplayPort (at least don't have the connection.)
I just got my docking station for my Dell e5520. I got the one monitor to work with the VGA set up. I would love to get the two DVI monitors working instead of one monitor. I am not sure if this is possible or not. If it IS possible, how do I go about doing it?

i know you probably got this question alot and i searched a bit of the forum but couldnt quite get the right awnser. (and im not that familiar with HP but im quite confortable with).
HP Elitebook 8540W, HP Docking Station VB043AA#ABA, Windows 7 64-bit; audio out works fine from laptop internal speakers and laptop headphone jack; when I plug speaker cord into line-out on docking station, the sound continues to come from the internal speakers; when I right-click speaker icon and select "playback devices" I see "Speakers / HP" and "Headphones (RTC)" but I don't see any option to switch to docking station lineout.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am running a IBM Thinkpad W540 with a Lenovo Ultra Dock Docking Station 170 (Model 40A20170US). I have 3 Asus 23.6" LED HD Monitors (Model VN247HP). These monitors have a standard VGA connection and 2 HDMI ports, By default you are provided a VGA cable and a HDMI-DVI cable. When I plug these monitors into the Ultra Dock no signal is found(including the VGA).
When I plug into the direct VGA port on the laptop, the monitor gets signal. If I use a Mini-DP connection with a Mini-DP-DVI adapter I get signal just fine. If I plug my this monitor into my desktop under HDMI and DVI connections it works just fine.
I have gone into the bios and confirmed that under display the "Video Mode on Dock" is set to Advanced(I tried standard and it did not work any better). I have the latest video drivers for the Intel HD graphics driver (10.18.10.3412) and the NVIDIA Quadro K1100M (9.18.13.4052). The USB ports work just fine, as does the power cable for the docking station. I tried applying the latest firmware update but the program runs and nothing happens. I checked for any other drivers that might have resolve the issue but have not had any luck.
I should like to connect my old hp2710p to TV via HDMI. So I connect the displayport of the docking with an hdmi adpater but it doesn't work.
Â
If I connect my hp2760p, everything goes.
Â
The 2710p has w7 32bit, last version o BIOS and drivers.
I have a Lenovo L440 laptop with a think pad pro dock. The HDD is encrypted with TrueCrypt and needs a password before windows will boot. The laptop will not display out to the monitor attached to the dock before windows loads. I have changed the bios setting Config > Display > Boot Display Device, as well as all the other display options, but it does not make a difference. I have tried with a VGA cable and a DVI cable and neither works. I have tried with 2 different L440s and 2 docking stations with the same problem occuring on both. I have successfully used a Lenovo L540 laptop with the same model of docking station. I have also updated to the most current bios version.
Â
I'm wondering if I'm missing something or if the L440 model simply does not support this function?
I suddenly found my touchpad is not working. It was working normally last night.
Â
Machine: HP ELITEBOOK 8570W
OS: Windows 8.1 64-bit ver
Â
Its current state is: no respond upon touching it; double-touching up the upper left courner also no response(if it's working normally, the little light will light up AND THEN the touchpad will stop working coresspondingly.)I have tried following methods:
Â
-Restart the computer;
-Reinstall the touchpad's driver to initial state;
-Update the touchpad's driver to latest version;
-Download the sp51647 driver, install it(failed);
Â
In Device Manager, I can still see the Synaptics SMBus TouchPad under the Mouse and Other Pointer Devices category. The manager says the touch-pad is working normally. What I suspect to be the reason is that, this morning I started the laptop without connecting the AC adapter but only on battery and the voltage is too low for the touchpad to function normally.
I have an HP EliteBook 8570w, which I must say is the most awesome mobile workstation EVER. The touchpad BUTTONS - specifically the ones above the touchpad - Â how can I disable them? I have large hands and find myself accidentaly hitting the buttons, resulting in losing entire paragraphs of text or launching programs I didn't intend to launch.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an XPS M1530 running Vista Home Premium 64-bit, T-9300 Processor, 6 gig RAM, 320 gig 7200-rpm harddrive. I am using it with the Kensington SD100S Laptop Docking Station (with stand) and a 22" Samsung monitor (monitor as primary display and laptop display as secondary display) and the Dell Bluetooth keyboard and mouse. The Kensignton docking station attaches to the M1530 via USB.
My question is, is it safe for me to detach the docking station when the M1530 is booted up and running? What about detaching the monitor? Except when I have an external USB harddrive turned on, there is not anything in my tray icons to indicate (as far as I can tell) that any hardware needs to be safely removed.
I have a 2nd AC adapter in my den separate from my home office, but I so rarely take the laptop mobile in the house since I power down first. Please let me know whether I am being too cautious, and if it is safe to detach the docking station and monitor while running any precautions that I should take. I do have my XPS backed up via Ghost if a problem should happen.
I am reinstalling my Elitebook 8570w and have an "Unknown Device" on PCI Bus driver error I cannot clear.Â

View 10 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for a laptop that has a port that allows it to connect to a docking station that will actually provide power to it.
I see a lot of them have docking stations available that connect via USB, but you still need to connect a separate power supply to the laptop. Ideally,
I'd love to have one that connects to the docking station by "sitting" in it... i.e., rather than plugging a cable into the "special" port on the laptop, the port is underneath or even just in the back of the laptop in such a way that it connects to the dock by simply resting the laptop up against it.
Can someone please recommend a docking station for the new CW?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just ordered a docking station from ebay. Everything looks good and works fine except when I plug in my power cord to the dock it the computer says the adapter doesnt supply sufficient power to charge the laptop and requests that I plug in a 90W adapter.
The thing is I'm using the 130W adapter that came with my laptop. If it makes any difference my adapter is a PA-4E model and the dock is the E-Port Plus Replicator
We are using the sony prz1 docking station with our z590 laptops. we are having a lot of problems with the video signal and monitor resolution.
When we start the laptop (docked or undocked) the video signal and resolution has to be set manually everytime to use an external monitor (if you have already docked it and setup the dual monitor settings (clone) and just restart without undocking it the settings will stay the same).
after the resolution has been set for the external monitor and then we undock the laptop (start>undock). the resolution does not change back to the native laptop resolution. we have 4 machines setup like this. they all use different external monitors (samsung, viewsonic, hp, and sceptre).
I just purchased a VGN-Z690 Z series Sony notebook. The VGP-PRZ1 docking
station is not available at Sony or any major suppliers. Does anyone know where to get one new or refurbished?
Has anyone used a docking station with a Z11x? I'm looking at picking one up but want to make sure I do not have to reboot when I dock or undock.
To avoid any confusion:
I attend meetings off and on all day and would like to be able to use it at my desk, de-dock, use it in a conference room, go back to my desk and dock it and have it switch over the power, network and keyboard/video/mouse without rebooting, etc.
I am planning to buy one of the Sony Vaio NS series laptops. My question is in regards to a docking station. I really want to be able easily use my current desktop monitor and keyboard. Most of what I do is in Photo Shop and I have a big monitor that I can see lots of detail on my desktop. I contacted Sony and they said they don’t currently make a docking station for the NS series. It has been years since I’ve had a laptop and not sure of the options out there. It used to be I could just slide my HP laptop into this “station” that would automatically “plug” into my monitor, keyboard, etc.
View 10 Replies View Relatedi finally got the docking station for my Sr, have to say its not as good as i had hoped, the unit doesnt seem to click in, and in general its a fairly poor dock compared to the HP ones i have at work. That aside i have an issue.
1. When using the SR in the dock, i have to open the screen before the power button will start the unit? Seems strange, is there a setting for this or is this a poor design?
2. When the laptop is on and docked, my network connections both connect at the same time, eg i have wifi and lan both connected, this seems a bit strange, i would have thought that when im docked the unit wouldnt use wifi, and would use LAN instead. Again is there a setting for this as its not ideal currently.
Aside from that all seems well with the unit, seems stange to me that the dock provides gigabit network and the machine unit provides up to 100.
Does Sony make a docking station for the FW 590? I tried looking on their website but couldn't find anything.
View 4 Replies View RelatedHP is going to make a docking station for the HP mini 1000. I guess that port on the mini is an expansion port and not displayport. Looks cool. Guess it makes up for all the missing ports on the mini.
View 5 Replies View RelatedOr, more to the point, since I have only one VGA out from the laptop itself, would DVI be of any benefit at all?
Would dual DVI mean that each external monitor would run better?
If not, I'll just get the cheaper docking station. For my desktop, which the E4300 is replacing,
I have had one VGA and one DVI, and it is OK, but I like things the same if possible.
My laptop's fan WILL NOT turn off. Its spinning at blow dryer speeds all the time.
Initially I thought I had a lemon with some heat issues, so I returned it and DELL sent me a new one. I received it today and it has the same problem as the one before.
Apparently this laptop runs super hot when in the docking station-the reason being, I have no clue.
im worried that the internals are going to overheat cuz this fan is blowing out really hot air.
When I use it on the go or anywhere outside of the docking station-no fan problems.
Would hate to lose my docking station/external monitor...
Any suggestions for a cooling pad/docking station combo for the SXPS 16 that I could use in my office?
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy daughter's D610 slowly died during a 10 week car holiday trip in Northen Australia. From the description of how it gradually happened I assumed it could be bad power connection and eventually the battery failed.
Completely dismantled very carefully and tested the power connector, whilst not perfect I believe the solder joints were acceptable.
When power supplies PA10 or PA12 plugged in directly to the laptop no lights of any kind, with or without battery. Checked with other battery too, same result. The power supplies do deliver right voltage and good under load.
Have a docking station and partly to my surprise with the 95W or PA10 power supply the D610 works fine. With the PA12 or 65W power supply the docking station refuses to work telling you to shut down and replace the power supply.
Ran into a problem when I tried to test with the car power converter, which delievered enough power but was not recognised so docking station again refused. The second D610 I later had to hand allowed the car power to be used but under "protest", warning that performance might be poor. Eventually I got the PA10 which was accepted.
I have a second D610 which works fine on all 3 power supplies. Now having option for swopping parts, I would like to know what I can try to figure out what is causing the power interruption?
I have a problem with the docking station for my Sony Z-11, the Z11 itself doesn't have a DVI out, but the docking station does, however with windows 7 the docking station dvi port doesn't work anymore.
How do I fix it? Is there some drivers I need to install, otherwise Win 7 works perfectly on the laptop. Just think there must be something I'm missing, and google doesn't help.
Docking station model number is VGP-PRZ1
I'm tired docking my laptop work/home/school.
So at least at home I need a good docking/cooling station, so I can easily connect 4-5 USB devices (keyboard, mouse, 2 external hard drives, and some other usb thing)
any recommendations?
