HP/Compaq :: Why No Radiance Display On The Envy 17
May 26, 2010it's HP's flagship model - yet they put a lesser screen on it ?
They also took out the WWAN and GPS features that the Envy 14 has ?
Also, no option for two 1TB HDD's ?

I cannot view the desktop on the display of my Envy 17t quad touchsmart laptop with Windows 8, although others images, such as the screen saver can be seen.

A few weeks ago I cracked my glossy 1366x768 display on my Envy DV6 7227SA (product number C4V06EA#ABU). I have found a replacement online (part number 682089-001) but I was wondering if I could replace it with a matte 1920x1080 display (Part number 682090-001). I'm running Windows 8 64 bit
Â
EDIT: This is the part I currently have in my notebook (broken) -Â [URL] ....

And this is what I'm wanting to replace it with -Â [URL] .....
Today, I tried connecting an external display to my HP ENVY TouchSmart 15 laptop, via a USB hub, only to discover that using the touch screen points at the corresponding part of the external display rather than the inbuilt one (the displays are being extended). Can this be changed?
Â
I'm using the same 64-bit Windows 8 installation and drivers that the computer came with.
Currently whenever I startup my laptop the display flickers. If windows fully boots or I try to enter one of the startup menus the will flash briefly on the screen and then the display will return to and remain black.Â
Â
I am able to run an HDMI cable to my TV and it seems to be running fine other than going black with the occasional distorted picture of windows booting.

I bought this Envy 17 3D in December of 2010 from HP Websight. The Model is WY771AV  and runs Windows 7 with 1080P and Uses A M D 5875 Graphics. The Last 30 days, @ boot-up, the screen will turn solid white when I try to start it up. All I can do is hold power button down to power off and retry. 9 0 % of time, retry fails(does same thing), but occasionally I can go to startup repair , run system restore and use machine for 2 or 3 times before the next white-out.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm having two issues which may or may not be related. My display adapter keeps resetting itself. Sometimes it works and I can continue working.other times I get a screen full of vertical lines and have to reboot. The computer will also not bout or run on battery power. If it's on and I unplug the a.c. adapter it well shut off. How to solve my envy dv7 issues? It's windows 8 that I'm currently running after doing a complete restore yesterday in the hope that if would solve the problem. If didn't.

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy HP Envy dv6 recently did one of its updates and after that it restarted. Now when I turn my computer on it has the Hp logo, the login and after I log in nothing. There's just a black screen with a glow and the cursor. I know it's working because I can hear noises and the fan going but I can't see my desktop. But if I use the simple pass finger identification it will take me to the we page I saved on the designated finger. That's the only way I can get to the internet. I can't use anything else because I can't see my desktop. I can do ctrl alt del and that pops up but it doesn't do any good. I did the unplug everything, take out the battery, plug in AC adapter but not the battery , hold power button for 15 seconds then put the AC adapter but not the battery and turn on thing and nothing changed. I tried multiple restarts and shutdowns and nothing changed.
View 6 Replies View RelatedHp Envy 6t-1000 has a green tint to the monitor. There seems to be no black color. I ran the system diagnostics and everything passes. If I tyr the color palette check it fails. I have updated the video drivers, updated the BIOS, replaced the monitor cable and run a system recovery using the disks provided by HP. All to no avail. I can attach an extrenal monitor, either HDMI or USB, and it works. Only the built in display has the green tint and lack of black palette.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSince I bought the HP Envy 15, I have been having problems with the AMD display driver. I first switched to fixed graphics in the bios. When I'm using the AMD GPU, I get random crashes while playing some games (Only tested Minecraft which runs on Java). I have the latest 64Bit version of java, so that is not the cause of this problem. The crashes appear at random times with no error except the "AMD Display Driver crashed and successfully recovered" bubble popping up at the bottom right. When the Driver crashes, I have to restart all programs that use the GPU since they don't function properly unless I restart them. I previously discussed this problem with the HP Instant Support (Chat ID: 39947114) and I was told that the R & D of HP will be notified to release a Driver update soon. I do not know if the R & D were actually notified or if the driver is going to get an update.

I have a HP Envy dv7 Notebook PC. It recently just downloaded the new HP Assistant and I wanted to adjust the brightness because it was too bright for the dark room I was in. I tried using the F2 and F3 keys to lower the brightness and I tried to adjust it from settings and control panal but the brightness doesn't adjust when I move it up or down. I tried shutting down my computer and restarting it but I still can't adjust the brightness.
View 9 Replies View RelatedIt happens that my laptop sometimes start showing 4 displays and sometimes when rebooted several times. Starts working normally. Seems to me more of a drivers problem or else why would it start normally if this was a hardware problem. Also, when laptop was running, I kept shaking the laptop just to check if it was a hardware problem like the lcd's cable might be loose which fitted in the motherboard but it was not the case.
Laptop is: HP Envy 6.+Laptop is not under warranty.

Â
THe issue is that when I login to windows by providing my pin the start up screen does not show up. its simply blank with cursor showing only. ALT-CTRL DEL gives the task manager and I can run internet explorer through task manager run command but start up screen remains blank.
Â
I have done battery, memory etc tests and nothing has resolved the issue.

I ordered this laptop from one of the retailer sites and received it today. We were very curious to check the touch screen functions. But nothing happened. The touch screen was not detected. [No pen or touch input available for this device]. There were no settings under control panel such as Tablet.
Many of the newer more demanding games require that a certain amount of RAM is virtually dedicated to your graphics card, and after hours of trying to figure out how to do that I came up empty. On most desktops and some laptops you can go into the BIOS and change it, but not on the HP Envy 17t (Tried updating BIOS). I'm really not sure how much of a difference it would make for gameplay, but considering how I have an extra 11 gb of RAM when I'm rarely using more than 4 gigs it'd be nice to be able to put some of it to use. There's also a few games I want to play that require a minimum amount to even be launched at all (COD: AW).

My hp envy can't detect the external monitor. I tried to re - install the graphic drivers (hd 4600 / Geforce 740m)...
It used to work and all of a sudden it stopped. My only assumption is that the HDMI output itself is not functioning.
I've had my laptop for about one and half years now, and so far the webcam has been working fine. Today though, it stopped functioning. At first I thought it was the microphone and webcam, but I tested the microphone and that's working. The only thing not working is the webcam.Â
Â
I tried restarting. I tried looking up the driver and making sure it was all set. At that point, I realized I didn't even have a webcam installed (which is what my programs were telling me but I didn't believe).Â
I then searched on this forum to find a solution and another member posted that removing the bevel and sticking the little plug back in should work. I tried it and it didn't. (I'm also concerned that I did this with my computer on... Have I done any serious damage?)

I recently bought a HP envy 17 2090eo 3D. The pc came with pre-installed Tridef software on the harddrive. I choose to switch one of the HDD to a SSD drive for the OS to gain faster loading time.
Â
Now I cant seem to find a download link for the Triforce software. I only found a trial which is now done. i also found some software on the Triforce site, which checked to see if I had a HP envy, but It told me that I did not have a HP envy system (probably because of the HDD change).
Â
Is there anything I can do to get the Triforce software again?
I have an "HP ENVY TouchSmart Sleekbook 4-1115dx" laptop that is about two weeks past warranty and the screen went blank. Â I currently have an old crt monitor hooked up to it and everyting works fine with the machine -- just cant see the screen. Â Will i need to replace the entire display or can i just replace the chord/ribbon from the display thru the hinges to the main unit?

My laptop is brand new. I remember the first time I started it I clicked on CyberLink YouCam and the camera worked. I even took a picture with it.Since then I am trying to activate the webcam and it is not working. I wanted to Videochat on Skype but the webcam was not activated so there was no webcam option. I read that if you go on Facebook and click on "Change Profile Picture" and then "Take Picture" it activates the webcam, but not in my case.
When I start CyberLink YouCam it says that there was no webcam found and if I have to activate it if I have one. So here is my question: How do I activate the webcam? How that works. What button combination I have to press or whatever.I have the HP Envy dv7-7202eg with Windows 8.
