View 9 Repliesi have recently purchased and HP Envy 17 laptop and have been trying to backup all of my iphone 5s photos and videos onto thelaptop however everytime i try to play videos either through the photos folder or the photos library app nothing works. In the photo app the app just freezes and crashes and in the photos documents folder media player just comes up not responding. This hapens with the vast majority of my videos i have seen that other people have had the same issure and i have installed the VLC video app as suggested and still nothing works.
there has been an IOS update since i started taking videos however this makes no diffeence as the handful of videos that do work are from both before and after the update so it can not be an issue with my phone and the videos i have taken in the last few days dont work.

My Sony VAIO VGN-FS195VP WILL PLAY MY CD DISCS OK BUT HAS RECENTLY STOPPED PLAYING DVD DISCS. NO ERROR MESSAGE COMES UP AND THE DISC CAN BE HEARD TRYING TO SPIN UP AND THE DISC SYMBOL APPEARS SPASMODICALLY
View 6 Replies View RelatedDVDs will load successfully and play, but BlueRays will not, even though this computer has a BlueRay player and the Cyberlink software to play them. It recognizes the BlueRay title, appears to load the disk and then returns to the initial screen and does nothing. When I click play, Cyberlink asks if I want to restart or resume playing. Either button I select returns me to the beginning of the process.

View 1 Replies View Relatedi have a FW290 CTO that is about a month old. since today, i havent been able to watch a dvd or any blu-ray movie. when i put in a dvd i got this message:
Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because there is a problem with digital copy protection between your DVD drive, decoder, and video card. Try installing an updated driver for your video card.
so after this message, i tried to put in my dark night blu-ray disc and my intervideo BD player would not work.
what happend?
what do i do?
edit: when i try to run a BD it states " your display environment does not support protected content playback.
i used to be able to play the BDs...what happend?
When I first got my laptop, I was able to play all the CDs in order to download my software, etc. However, now it won't recognize any CD I put in or launch anything. I'm trying to install an Epson printer and I put in the software CD. Nothing will happen. I can hear it whiring and I keep thinking that it'll launch but nothing does. This is what it looks like with the CD in:
Doesn't even show up on the side bar. I can't have a laptop that can't even recognize CDs or DVDs.
I did a clean install of Windows 7 on my Studio XPS 16 and everything is working except I can't play DVDs.
I installed the latest firmware for the DVD and got sound but no video.
I have also installed the latest ATI drivers and chipset with no luck.
Device Manager shows the driver for the monitory is a generic pnp monitor and I cannot set the resolution of the monitor above 1024 x 768. So, I am assuming that my problem is either the monitor driver and/or the ATI driver.
Does anyone know why my Latitude D600 won't play back-up (burnt) dvds, but it plays the original disc? When I put in the burnt disc I hear a clicking sound, but nothing else happens.
I have been trying to use burnt -R discs and dual layer discs; these discs play on other dvd players. Should my laptop plays these discs? And if so why doesn't it? I believe it still has the original drive in it; I bought the laptop second hand.
I play dvds on my hp 2000 windows 8 cyberlink and it won't respond....

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having trouble playing DVD's on my HP Pavillion g7-2300 notebook. I've had this laptop for a long time and I was able to play DVDs up until a few days ago, but today when I inserted a disc I got this message:
When I click on "learn more" it brings me to a webpage where there are newer versions of cyberlink media software available for purchse. As you can see in the image there is an ad for one of the versions.
There was one update available for the Cyberlink PowerDVD software and I installed it. This did not fix the issue and I am still geting the same message as above. I also tried to play different DVDs.
I have PowerDVD OEM version 10.0.8.5723 and am using Windows 8.1. I've had Windows 8.1 for many months and as I mentioned I was able to play DVD's before with this windows version.
As far I as I can tell it isn't a trial version. It's asking me to buy an upgrade not a full version so this is what leads me to believe it's not a trial version.
Why the sudden change?
Unfortunately the Windows Media Player software on my laptop doesn't play DVDs. I've searched for Quicktime software, but there doesn't seem to be any available for Windows 8 or 8.1.
I am strongly considering buying the envy 15 because I like how it looks and it seems pretty good at games.
Does anyone play WoW on it? I am curious what the framerates are like @ native res in dalaran, in raids, and in BGs
I use my laptop almost everyday, and it has been fine up until today. I have an HP Envy dv4. I rarely shut it down--I usually just close the lid and leave it like that until I'm ready to use it again. Today, when I opened it and logged in, I went to Youtube. However, no sound will play. I didn't have this problem the last time I used the PC, and can't figure out what's wrong. I don't have any sound with headphones plugged in, and I don't have any sound when I try to use just the PC speakers.
I've already made sure the sound is definitely on--I have muted it and unmuted it several times, raised and lowered the volume by using the f9 and f10 keys, and nothing happens. I've tried playing media that is stored on my PC, and no sound there either. I've also tried using Rosetta Stone, and it won't open because it says it can't find any sound output.
I have restarted the computer several times, scanned for viruses, and scanned for updates. Nothing has worked.
I have an HP Envy TouchSmart Ultrabook 4. When I try to play music or a video I get a message that there is a problem with the sound card. How can I resolve this?

View 9 Replies View RelatedToday, I tried connecting an external display to my HP ENVY TouchSmart 15 laptop, via a USB hub, only to discover that using the touch screen points at the corresponding part of the external display rather than the inbuilt one (the displays are being extended). Can this be changed?
I'm using the same 64-bit Windows 8 installation and drivers that the computer came with.
Currently whenever I startup my laptop the display flickers. If windows fully boots or I try to enter one of the startup menus the will flash briefly on the screen and then the display will return to and remain black.
I am able to run an HDMI cable to my TV and it seems to be running fine other than going black with the occasional distorted picture of windows booting.
I just recently bought this Hp split x2 for school purposes, but my husband wanted to play World of Warcraft in my laptop. usually the of the screen feels so hot after he played for atleast 3 hours. I don't want him to mess my laptop. sometimes his game freezes.
I wanted to know if games such as WOW or sims 3 can be played regularly in this type of laptop. I wanted to know if there's anyway I can upgrade this laptop to run to its full potential.
I have replaced the HD on my HP ENVY 17 3D, then I upgraded the OS from Windows 7 to Windows 8.1. From the HP site, I can not find the software to play BD movies.

They also took out the WWAN and GPS features that the Envy 14 has ?
Also, no option for two 1TB HDD's ?
