View 2 RepliesI have a dell inspiron e1705, and my dvd player is not playing the dvd at certain points on it.
i tried playing it in another dvd player of mine, and it worked fine. is it my computer, or hardware/software?...
it makes sounds like it is trying to read it... made sure to clean off the disc {did it several times}. this is not the first time that this has happened either...
i finally got my instant-on media player working on my laptop but it will not play mkv files or bluray discs. this is the main reason for using the software.

It doesn't happen all the time but every other time. The DVDs are in good condition and play well otherwise well with or without the drive noise.
I tried another new drive UJ8B2 and does create the similar noise.
way to import a .AVI file into the iTunes movie Library. I tried to drag and drop it, copy and paste, and it didn't work. Would there be an easier way to make an .AVI file into a .m4v, and then import it that way?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having trouble playing DVD's on my HP Pavillion g7-2300 notebook. I've had this laptop for a long time and I was able to play DVDs up until a few days ago, but today when I inserted a disc I got this message:
When I click on "learn more" it brings me to a webpage where there are newer versions of cyberlink media software available for purchse. As you can see in the image there is an ad for one of the versions.
There was one update available for the Cyberlink PowerDVD software and I installed it. This did not fix the issue and I am still geting the same message as above. I also tried to play different DVDs.
I have PowerDVD OEM version 10.0.8.5723 and am using Windows 8.1. I've had Windows 8.1 for many months and as I mentioned I was able to play DVD's before with this windows version.
As far I as I can tell it isn't a trial version. It's asking me to buy an upgrade not a full version so this is what leads me to believe it's not a trial version.
Why the sudden change?
Unfortunately the Windows Media Player software on my laptop doesn't play DVDs. I've searched for Quicktime software, but there doesn't seem to be any available for Windows 8 or 8.1.
When friends send videos I cannot always watch them as the screen turns green. The sound continues to play but there are no visuals.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter playing a game my screen remained stretched, horizontally stretched out. Normally my screen went back to normal after closing the game(Rollercoaster Tycoon 3), but this time it somehow got stuck or something. I checked the resolution: it's 1024x768 like it always was, so that's not the problem. When I "print screen", the image is just normal on other computers, so I think it may be the driver? Do I have to download NVIDIA Driver? I tried that, but it says the driver is not compatible with my hardware.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've noticed when playing vidoes, the video frames update at a slower pace to the point where it feels that movie is being played in slow motion. Sometimes this conditions stays longer other for few minutes. It does not make any differene if I am streaming or playing a movie stored on the HD (machine doesn't have CD drive).
I've ensure there are no other apps running that might seep power away from main processor/RAM or video processor. All the drivers are latest & greatest and I don't see any warnings anywhere in the system manager.
It has Win 8 and Intel HD Graphics 4000 with 1.6G of video RAM which seems decent enough to play a video file smoothly.

View 2 Replies View RelatedHave used my HP 2000 laptop many times to connect to a big screen TV using the VGA output jack and hook it to the VGA input of my big screen. Now, for some reason, there is no video output to the big screen, I have tried 3 different cords (VGA to VGA) and get nothing on two, and on the third I get a video transfer but it blinks off and on both on the monitor of the laptop and my big screen with only about 1/2 of a picture showing on both. When it did this, I tried repositioning the output jack on the computer output and it changed the picture somewhat, but could never get it to work.
