way to import a .AVI file into the iTunes movie Library. I tried to drag and drop it, copy and paste, and it didn't work. Would there be an easier way to make an .AVI file into a .m4v, and then import it that way?
View 10 RepliesI'm getting a new computer. My old one is at my parents house and has my entire iTunes library on it. I know I can't just plug my ipod into a new computer and upload the songs onto it, but I'm sure there's a way to transfer the library from my old computer to my new one.
How exactly can I do that? I assume it has something to do with an external hard drive, but I'm not sure.
I am planning on doing a clean install of windows 7 on my computer but when i do so is it possible that i can just sync my ipod to the empty itunes library and let it put all my ipod music on my computer? or will it ask me if it can erase all the data on the ipod and sync it to that itunes library.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm currently using an external disk as back-up with Time machine and I also put movies on it to declutter my laptop. I recently noticed when trying to share a movie with a friend that it's not detected by PCs.
Is there a way to do so without having to erase the disk?
I have tonnes of home video clips which can't be more than 6 hours total in recording but are actually frikkin 15GB total in size.
I copied them on my HD straight from the camcorder, and now I need to make a DVD out of it. Now I realize no DVD in the world will hold 15GB, but the thing is, as I said its just 5-6 hours and its 15GB because its uncompressed.
So I need a software which'll do the dirty work for me: compress and make one DVD out of these clips.
I'd like the DVD to have the feature of being able to let me skip to different video clips etc. by clicking "previous" "next".
I'm encoding MKV to PS3AVCHD and the temp for the GPU is hovering around 90C. I will be encoding it for ~12 hours.
Should I be concern about it? The palm rest doesn't get too warm
just curious. read the review that the 9-cell can last 4 hours. wondering how the 6-cell will last.

I purchased this model primarily to evaluate the 128GB SSD. This configuration has two 64GB Samsung MMCRE28G drives configured in RAID0 (Stripe). I'll post a new thread on my findings this weekend, if somebody else doesn't beat me to the punch. I also have a VPCZ11FHX/XQ on order with the 512GB SSD.
I DON'T HAVE MANY COMMENTS ON THE MACHINE AS I JUST FINISHED TAKING THE PICTURES BELOW. I will say that the previous generation Z charger works with the new Z. I haven't taken the new one out of the box.
I also have a video of the first-boot sequence that I'll try to upload this evening. In addition, I did a video showing the duration from power-on to loading Windows with the RAID prompt enabled and disabled. This will go in the SSD thread.
well my signature series Z11 with everything but the kitchen sink was delivered today. A little over 6 weeks from order to delivery but I'm not complaining as it is here right now !

When i try to play a 1080p movie over hdmi on my tv, it doesn't run smoothly ( i think its called framedrops?)
The videocard is a 9300m GS and since i've got hybrid graphics, a driver update is not possible.
The laptop is a vaio z21wn.
I've tried multiple things (coreAVC, MPC, VLC, etc..) but none seem to give better output.
Are there other solutions to this problem?
It is an automatic drive. My computer says the bluray drive is working right. Tried right clicking and ejecting and hitting the eject button. It is an automatic slot drive. Tried windows software to find problem and it couldn't work either. It worked just 10 mins before it happened. It is a windows 8 pro OS. HL-DT-ST DVDRWBD CA10N is the drive windows calls it.

I have a Inspiron 1525. Recently I have tried to watch movies. Soon after the movies start my laptop shutdown. There was a time I could watch movies but not now. It continually shuts down within a few minutes.

View 2 Replies View RelatedInspiron 17R N7110 has no power, I was watching movie and the laptop just froze, after waiting a few minutes I performed a hard power reset, machine was restarting, abruptly shut off and has been dead since.
Tried the power reset by removing the battery and holding the power button for the static discharge ... and so on. No luck. Machine has no lights on front, it is completely dead, battery was 100% charged. Tried two charger cables, both have green lights till I plug them into the machine then green lamps die.
I think it would be the DC power connector or the motherboard... or something else that I have not thought of yet.
When I'm surfing, watching a movie or whatever, my screen adjusts the brightness automatically. How do I stop it from doing that?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've had the camera in the closet for a while but took it to the track to get some video of the kids racing their quads. Last week I couldn't get the MBP to even recognize that something was plugged into it. After a little research I found out I needed to use FireWire and had to buy a 400 to 800 cable. Well I got the cable and tried again today with no change in status. I rechecked the settings in the camera, double checked the plugs but no luck. Any ideas short of throwing the camera away?
On a side note I can't even get the Sony software to install even though it is Mac compatible. I guess its made for an older OSX version or something.
She has over five thousand photos on her old Mac tower (10.4) and is backing them up to an external hard drive. It seems that when she goes to the Pictures folder she can copy and paste them over, but it does not preserve any of her naming/etc. that she has done in Iphoto. Unfortunately, she has a lot of important information tagged and would like to preserve it. I am at a loss as I do not own a Mac nor do I have unlimited access to her computer. I have scoured Google for about an hour with no luck. Does anyone know of a way this can be done efficiently? The one option I have come across is Time Machine, but she would have to upgrade to Leopard to get this function. I am not sure if she will be able to at the moment, nor am I sure that her external drive will work correctly.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have used Aperture for quite sometime now and have quite a few thousand photos in the Aperture library from my DSLR, I just installed Lightroom as a trial to give it a whirl and see how it compares to Aperture. My question is, how do I import all the photos that are in my Aperture library to Lightroom? I haven't seem to found a way and links from a google search suggest that the photos that are imported through Aperture are stuck in the Aperture format, so I can only view them through the program itself not as an individual file in Finder, is this true?

My daughter just got an mp3 player, and I want to easily get music onto it as it doesn't support the m4a files in our existing iTunes library.
I am trying to help my parents with their CD collection. A couple of years ago, my dad bought this ridiculous CD player that holds 400 CDs. What should have been a foreseeable problem is that there's really no real way of having any idea which CDs correspond to which numbers. As of right now they lined up the cases and made a photocopy and then numbered the paper printout, but it's just silly and I want to make it simpler.
What I want to do is just put everything into an iTunes library, but since I want it all at audio quality (which iTunes can do, yes?) then I need to keep the library on an external drive. How do I set this up, so that uploaded CDs are automatically store on the external HDD?

I have a Dell Inspiron desktop that has a couple of files I want to keep in sync with the Macbook Pro.
I have one hurdle already down with Dropbox - I sync my important documents/files between the desktop and the Mac. However, I would really like to have my music synced between the two iTunes libraries as well. I did a quick Google/forum search on the issue but it seems like people haven't arrived at a conclusive answer or it involves programming with rsync, which I'm not familiar with at all.
Is it possible to make iTunes store different artist, but same album into 1 folder instead of spreading it out? I hate having multiple folders for the same album in my library. I makes it so confusing when looking for my music.

Now, down the side (taking more space away from my collection views), and I have to go to a menu to select between the different options its lists.....

Forgive me if this a stupid question. I'm a Mac newb. In windows I had my music sitting in my "My Music" folder and Itunes pulled from that. If I deleted something out of there I couldn't listen to the song.
When I got my Mac I moved all my music to the "Music" folder. I then dragged them into Itunes. Some time later I noticed the mp3s seem to be duplicated in the "Music" and "Itunes" subfolders.
My question is: Can I clear out my "Music" folder?
Well there is a iTunes update. Witch means we will probably see iPhone OS 3.0 next week. And maybe the real iphone 3g
