Jun 10, 2009Just building an e6400 on the site. How much larger is the 6 cell compared to the 4 cell? I dont want a battery that sticks out at all. The 9 cell is ugly, and I was hoping the 6 cell doesnt stick out the back.

Sep 19, 2009I've been reading several user experiences and figured I should join since I'm having several questions/issues with my E6400.
For now my issue is with a 9 Cell battery I purchased from fleabay.
I bought a "Geniune New" battery from a US seller. For some reason the BIOS always reads it at 99%, where as my 6 cell will go to 100%. Is this normal for the 9 cell? Also I noticed the LED light button is much harder to press on the 9 cell compared to the 6.
The only part number I could get from the 9 cell is this:
JP-0FU441-47847-917-J6NP-A01
It has all the Dell markings, recycle numbers etc. It even came with a 9 cell Dell booklet. I just wasn't sure if all these 9 cells register at 99%. My old Inspiron E1505 9 cell also registered at 99%.

Jun 19, 2009Fresh load of Windows 7 x64 7229 and when I put my machine into standby the battery seems to drain incredibly fast....almost like it is on. I will standby the machine before I go to bed and in the morning it's dead with 0% battery.
I used to do the same thing with my D630 and in the morning I would have 85% or so on the equivilant 6 cell battery. Is there something I am missing.

Feb 20, 2009I have an XPS m1330 (T7500, 3 GB RAM, 8400M GS GPU) and had a bad 6-cell battery that wasn't holding charge.
Dell sent me a replacement, but they've sent me a 9-cell which I don't want b/c it's heavy, adds bulk and most importantly, the angle on the laptop REALLY hurts my wrists... but apparently they won't send out 6-cells as replacements anymore, just 9-cells.
I'm wondering if there's anything I can tell them to get them to send me a 6-cell without having to put my 9-cell on ebay or something .....

May 10, 2009I'm looking to get the Studio 1555 and the only thing I'm not sure on right now is which battery to get.
Is it true that the 9 cell sticks out the bottom a little bit? I would just go for the 9 cell, but I use my current laptop on my lap a lot and I'm worried that if the battery sticks out the bottom it would be uncomfortable since the laptop would be resting on two points rather than the entire bottom

Sep 30, 2009I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 for about 4 years almost. I have 512MB but am going to buy the 2GB ram from newegg because it is very slow.
I am also formating my laptop as well as my desktop. Most of the time i use my desktop but for my laptop i bought a charger that was CHEAP and i think it messed up my battery life a bit.
I just purchased a new charger from Dell and will throw away the bad charger i have.
My battery life in my 6000 is about 40 minutes. It used to be 2 hours and 30 minutes when i first got it. A few months ago it was actually 1 hour and 20 minutes. My neighbor has a e1505 and his battery lasts like 5 minutes now so all he does is use his charger.
I see on Ebay from reputable sellers that the 6 and 9 cell battery price is pretty close. 6 Cell is about 44 dollars and 9 Cell is about 48 dollars.

i noticed that the Refurbished laptop have a Great price $609, 2.0 intel core 2 duo,4gb,320gb,6cell,Dell 1395 802.11G Wireless Mini Card.
For that price it seems to good to be truth, but i have no experience with refurbished laptop.
What is causing me confusion is, if i should go for a new laptop that has ,2.0ghz(same cpu), 3gb,250gb,intel next gen wireless N, 9 cell battery
for $779, all because the $10 for the wireless and 70$ for the battery
and it has a 195$ discount already of the original price.

Apr 12, 2009so i know that the 6-cell battery lasts about 1h:50mins just doing light stuff such as web-browsing and word processing(maximum brightness, power saving mode). Anyone have any ideas how long the 9-cell can last while just watching movies??

Feb 13, 2010I have an HP Pavilion dv6000. When I purchased the laptop, I chose a 12 cell battery, and it has a sticker on it that states: Replace with 451864-001. My battery went bad, and I purchased a replacement at the HP Parts Store online. I specifically chose a 12 cell replacement, which brought up the same part number, i.e., 451864-001. However, when it came in the mail today, the battery looks like a 6 cell, as it's about 1/3 the size of the old 12 cell, despite my purchase receipt which states that I ordered a 12 cell and the packing slip which also states that HP shipped a 12 cell. The model number of the old battery is HSTNN-DB32, and the model number of the new battery is HSTNN-DB46. Unless they were able to shrink the 12 cell to make it resemble a 6 cell, I'm pretty sure I received a 6 cell, despite the notations in the purchase order and packing slip.
This is a long way of asking, is there a tool that I can install that will tell me how many cells are contained in the battery? The battery, itself, does not state how many cells it contains. If it is a 6 cell, as I suspect, HP will be getting it back.

Dec 22, 2009I have tonnes of home video clips which can't be more than 6 hours total in recording but are actually frikkin 15GB total in size.
I copied them on my HD straight from the camcorder, and now I need to make a DVD out of it. Now I realize no DVD in the world will hold 15GB, but the thing is, as I said its just 5-6 hours and its 15GB because its uncompressed.
So I need a software which'll do the dirty work for me: compress and make one DVD out of these clips.
I'd like the DVD to have the feature of being able to let me skip to different video clips etc. by clicking "previous" "next".

Sep 29, 2009Im getting my very first laptop I had it narrowed down to the Dell Inspiron 14 Dell Vostro 1320 and various Blue label best buy options (hp dv4).
Anyway Im close to making a decision except I have an optional upgrade to 900p I can make with the Inspiron 14.
I just want to know if i should make the upgrade to 900p? and would it actually be worth the money? Its like an extra 60 dollars. Does 720p give pretty clear concise hd quality?

I'm planning to buy either Inspiron or Studio, they are pretty similar price and spec wise.
I want to get a 9 cell battery, but from what I heard/read, it sticks out/protrudes from the laptop, making it what I would find quite unpleasant.
I'm planning to get a 14 or 15 inch, if that has any influence on the answer. (i'm assuming it does, since a smaller laptop would have more chance to have the battery stick out, cause it's smaller, and can't contain the battery within the unit)

Sep 23, 2009It's a P8600, 4 gig RAM, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 512. Now the specs are great, I'm very impressed with this laptop, being able to play a game like CS Source in 720p with all settings on high with FPS over 100! (No anti-aliasing on though, but whatever, nevermind).
The screen, however, is absolutely atrocious! I'm actually shocked at how bad the screen tearing gets during videogames... honestly before I used to read complaints about screen tearing I'd always wonder what the big fuss was and now I know since I had never experienced screen tearing so bad before.
I paid a good £599 for this laptop and am seriously considering returning it. What's the point of having above average specs when they're horribly tainted by a -poor monitor?

However, I'm pondering the screen size. 1080p on WLED is only £10 more expensive than 720p; but I'm wondering if it's worth it. I mean, 141DPI is massive over the 97DPI on the 720p panel, but can one see such small and finer detail on a relatively small screen? .....
Dell Studio 1747 :: Laptop Won't Eject Blu-ray Movie
Mar 26, 2013It is an automatic drive. My computer says the bluray drive is working right. Tried right clicking and ejecting and hitting the eject button. It is an automatic slot drive. Tried windows software to find problem and it couldn't work either. It worked just 10 mins before it happened. It is a windows 8 pro OS. HL-DT-ST DVDRWBD CA10N is the drive windows calls it.

Sep 25, 2009how many of you have used this laptop to play fairly demanding games like Counter-Strike Source or Call of Duty 4 at 720p? Have you had any issues with it?
I recently returned a refurbished Studio 1555 because I was unhappy with the severe screen tearing issues I experienced. I know the refresh rate of the monitor is only 60 Hz, but I've used a 60 Hz screen before and never had I witnessed screen tearing so bad. At one point I turned on V-Sync in CS: Source, and my FPS fell to 30. With a 60 Hz screen, the lowest it should go is 60 FPS.
I'm currently looking at other Dell Studios and before I buy one I want to certify that it was just a faulty screen that I received with the laptop.

Apr 25, 2009I just had a few Dell Studio 1555 questions. Some were resolved from reading other threads, but others (which I'll ask here) were not.
1) The Dell Studio 1555 can be :
720p = 1280x720
900p = 1600x900
1080p = 1920x1080
Which do you recommend? Are there pictures available to see what the screen would look like? I'll be using this computer for light gaming, mostly schoolwork, and some movie watching.
2) What upgrades do you consider needed for the Dell? Like the Creative sound upgrade for $20 (CDN), or things like that .....
