View 1 RepliesI bought new Dell E4300 with 7200 rpm harddisk. Notebook is nice except one problem I have - every 2 seconds or more (this differes a lot on resources usage) movies or music stops playing for a very short time ... simply said playing isn't smooth.
I think it could be a HDD problem so I run HDTune benchmark.
Here is the result ... while I didn't make 15 posts I can't post a link (!@#$@$@#) anyway I think the result shouldn't look like this:
[url]
Almost in every low point of the graph the video or music stopped playing for a very short time (300-600ms) and that is very annoying.
I think it could be a hdd problem or maybe CPU problem that affects the hdd results as well, because the mouse pointer also stops moving for a while.
i play facebook flash games like restaurant city, pet society..etc in battery mode, cpu usage will be around 70% and the games very lag, this problem occurs in both balanced & power saving battery mode ...

I am running on Windows 8,1, 64 bit.
When I try to watch a video all I have is a green screen, audio is good.
I am convinced that the fingerprint reader is fine. There must be some issue with the driver perhaps, something incompatible with a recent Windows 7 software update?
Laptop working fine. I put it to sleep when I'm done and use the mousepad to wake it up. The fingerprint reader LED will blink, and I can swipe my finger to log on.At some point, after a few times of putting laptop to sleep and waking up, the fingerprint reader does not respond. No blinking LED. I swipe my finger and the reader does not respond at all -- doesn't even tell me that there was a bad read.If I log off and log back on again, no change. However, if I do a reboot, everything is fine--the fingerprint reader is working again.
My system is an HP dv6-6145dx. I am running Windows 7, with latest updates. The built-in fingerprint reader is running on HP Simple Pass 2011 v5.1 and Validity Sensor driver version 4.3.205.0. When I attempt to launch the Simple Pass interface, it loads the database but then the application vanishes. I tried uninstalling and then reinstalling the software, but this does not make any difference with the issue I noted.
Have used my HP 2000 laptop many times to connect to a big screen TV using the VGA output jack and hook it to the VGA input of my big screen. Now, for some reason, there is no video output to the big screen, I have tried 3 different cords (VGA to VGA) and get nothing on two, and on the third I get a video transfer but it blinks off and on both on the monitor of the laptop and my big screen with only about 1/2 of a picture showing on both. When it did this, I tried repositioning the output jack on the computer output and it changed the picture somewhat, but could never get it to work.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a G72 with the Radeon 5470 gpu. 2 days ago my wife received a bluescreen on Windows 7x64 stating that the video driver had stopped working. From that point on the G72 would not make it to the desktop without the screen going dead. The machine boots to safemode fine. I tried as much as I could think of to resolve this issue but eventually backed off her data and restored to factory. The problem persisted and I ended up disabling the ATI card in the control panel. The machine seemed to be working after that.
I begin the long process of brining the OS up to current. About 2 sets of updates after Win 7 SP1 the problem came back. I booted to safe mode and checked the driver and discovered that it had been re-enabled. I have tried disabling it again and rebooting. Sometimes it stays disabled thru reboot but sometimes it does not. At this point the machine will go to a dark screen (not just black video but dead) after I sign on. This was happening without regard to the enable or disable status on the ATI card.
So... I attempted to do another rehang of the OS and got about half way thru. Windows setup now tries to reboot and after the machine comes up, the screen goes dead. Is there a way to disable the card in bios? Can the card be physically removed?
2 weeks ago I began having video issues on my system. At that time, I was able to get to the login screen and right after I logged in, the screen started blinking at a constant rate (about evey second). To fix this, I booted to the Startup Menu (hit ESC after power on) and got the text based menu. From there I could get to the nice little graphical Windows Startup Options Menus. I used that to do system restore back to July and this seemed to work for a couple weeks. Now when I start the laptop, it quickly goes to a screen full of little dots all over and I can't see anything. I was able to get the text based statup menu that listed (system info, sys diags, ..., Starup menu). But when I tried to get the graphics based menus, it immediately when to the screen with dots so I could not do any of the recovery or start up options (like safe mode).
Attaching screen shot.
I purchased my laptop from Frys electronics June of last year. For the past few weeks, whenever I play video or listen to music, it sometimes stops for a few seconds, plays some sound that sound like static feedback then continues as normal. I have no clue what the issue is. What could it be, and should I send my beloved PC in to get it looked at?
Since I bought it, I have manually put in a Blu-Ray burner, has this affected my warranty?
I also upgraded from windows 7 to windows 8
I've bought this laptop brand new from the shop, it came with freedos and i installed windows 7 64bit and service pack two as well then i installed VLC Player, SM Player, & Daum Pot Player just to use on my day to day video watching. Well everything works perfectly fine except that when i play the video for a while, it started to slow down, it works nicely otherwise. It starts somewhere around 30 minute and beyond. I tried with all players, and this happens with BlueRay Rips i have which is HD video. Whats happening people? is this computer not powerful enough to play some HD Movie?. If it so then i am really in big trouble because the main reason for me to buy this was to watch movies and browse web. I watch movies plugged to AC all the time and Balance power profile. I also watch them in standard Settings of the player. The machine has 2GB Ram and Celeron N2810 Processor. Is this a problem with windows 7?

None of the Fn + Function keys work (i.e. for battery, brightness , sound).
Is there any actual driver for this?
Firstly I know very little on thsi kind of stuff so please excuse my lack of knowledge.
I've had my travelmate 5720 for about 4 months, and for as long as I have had it, it crashes when I play any kind of video. Not straight away, it may be after 2 minutes or after an hour. But if I'm playing a movie, its almost guaranteed to crash to a blue screen, and the system reboots. Its too random to try recreate the problem instantly, other than just playing a movie and...waiting.
I bought my laptop around a year and a half ago, I've been trying to fix this problem for months now. While playing pretty much all video games, whether through Steam, CD or through downloading, at random times while playing my computer will freeze, the sound will start to bug out and there is nothing I can do but manually shut down my computer. My warranty has expired and I am not sure what to do. I've done some reading about under-clocking my CPU and I have no interest in doing that. I keep my drivers and everything up to date so I'm pretty damn sure that this is not a software problem. I want to avoid replacing my motherboard and I will only do so if there is no other option. I am thinking of replacing my hard drive with an SSD

View 8 Replies View RelatedThe grill on the left side of my Latitude E6400 gets extremely warm--especially when video is playing. The bottom side of the case, on the left side, gets very warm, as well. I've been able to confirm that the fan behind the grill on the bottom side *does* run periodically; however, the grill and underside remain very warm.
How warm? Right now, after playing a video for about 15 minutes, SpeedFan reports the following temperatures: GPU (162F), HD0 (109F), Temp1 (145F), Core 0 (140F), Core 1 (142F). All of the items except HD0 have a flame icon--indicating an abnormally-high temperature. Worse, I've seen the temperatures considerably higher than the above.
I've had this laptop for about five years. The latest BIOS and drivers are installed. It's working OK, otherwise. This problem started, suddenly, perhaps a year ago.
My XPS L702x recently slows down when i play video online or play game. My configuration is: i7 2630QM, GT555M, 6 GB.i played video online and played game ( Skyrim, COD, A.V.A online) smoothly. But for 2, 3 months ago, my laptop slows down and spikes very much. When i watch video online, the screen will freeze 3 to 8 seconds but the sound is still playing. And all games that have run smoothly before, now they lagged too much, for example in Skyrim, when i start a conversation with a NPC, the game will freezes 2,3 seconds, and in the combat it freezes everytime when there's a sound is played (i.e screams, sound of sword slashing, footstep).
I have Microsoft Security Ess, no Semantec, Kaspersky, Norton ... And i have re-installed the Win 7 ultimate, but nothing is fixed, i've updated all my drivers, BIOS, Graphic card, sound card, wifi.i can't do anything with my laptop now, even opening Google Chrome is not easy. I'm really stressed. My battery is broken, i use my laptop on AC adapter only, perhaps this is the cause but i don't think so. Because i have a HP Pavillion and the battery is out too, but the HP is not slowing down.
I am having issues on laptop as when i try to play a video on facebook or any other site or forum I only get audio, no visual, just a blank screen.....
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have an Aspire 5517 running Windows 7. When on battery power, the computer will not go to sleep if it is playing any audio or video file through the speakers. Pause the stream and the computer will sleep as normal on power saver options, but if I leave it playing on battery power computer will not sleep or hibernate. When battery reaches critical level computer will not shut down and I have to restart windows later. This seems like a problem with a driver.

Is that too hot and should I stop playing to risk damaging the video card?
Or is it fine? I can hear the fan going and I feel the hot air being blown out of the vent and cold air being sucked into the fan.
I have a v3 571G laptop core i7 with a geforce 640m video card. Is not the faster video card but can handle advance video games in medium to high. Every time I play any video games, with settings from medium to high, at the beginning the fps are around 34 to 40 but after 10 to 20 min of playing, the fps gets down to 12 to 20 specially when there is explosions and such. Is my laptop video card dying or is something else?

Nothing to do with the fan or laptop cooling. When the ambient temperature drops below 22 degrees C it start working again. Do I need to put it in for a repair?
I recently formatted my laptop to windows 7 ultimate and since then can not get my function keys to work. I've reinstalled drivers that I thought might work and nothing.
When I could no longer adjust my brightness is when I noticed that my function keys were not working. Is there any other way to adjust the brightness on my laptop besides the function keys? If so I have not figured it out.

If anyone out there runs into an issue with the touchpad on a Sony Vaio where it suddenly stops working it may be due to static electricity. I bought a brand new VGN-NS240E (Jan 08 @ Best Buy) and while setting it up I ran into this issue and have seen many other reports on the WEB of the Sony touchpads suddenly dying. Try these steps for an easy fix:
1 - power down the unit.
2 - unplug the power adapter.
3 - remove the battery.
4 - hold down the power switch for about a minute or two.
5 - re-insert the battery.
6 - reconnect the power adapeter.
7 - power the unit on and see if the touchpad lives!
These quick and simple steps worked for me 2x. Noted on the second time it happened that I shocked the machine after walking across the carpet, that's why I said above I think its related to a static charge - bad design on this model of touch pad I suppose. I have Dell laptops and Acers never seen it before until this Sony.

View 2 Replies View RelatedHas anyone experienced a problem with Acer notebooks where when the user presses any key on the keyboard, the touchpad gets disabled? The 8940G we are reviewing has this problem and I have never seen this happen before. When the touchpad stops functioning the little Synaptics status thing on the taskbar still shows the sensitivity blob when you finger presses the touchpad. This tells me it is still working but something else is interfering.
I have looked around the Synaptics menu for anything relating to this feature and found nothing. I disabled the "hide cursor when typing" feature in Windows already and that didnt fix it.
