When HP'S AMD video drivers (tried all available versions) are installed, I get screen flickering when the laptop comes up to the Start screen. However, when I installed Microsoft's video driver, the screen is normal. Please note that a recovery back to factory settings (Windows 8) was already done to this point.
View 3 RepliesHave used my HP 2000 laptop many times to connect to a big screen TV using the VGA output jack and hook it to the VGA input of my big screen. Now, for some reason, there is no video output to the big screen, I have tried 3 different cords (VGA to VGA) and get nothing on two, and on the third I get a video transfer but it blinks off and on both on the monitor of the laptop and my big screen with only about 1/2 of a picture showing on both. When it did this, I tried repositioning the output jack on the computer output and it changed the picture somewhat, but could never get it to work.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI bought my Dell XPS 13 laptop (L321X) in December of 2012. Beginning in the middle of 2013, I began experiencing my display screen suddenly become scrambled. I am attaching a photo of what happens. I did not think anything of it at first, and honestly it would happen maybe once a month. I figured it was maybe that I had the laptop on my lap and it was getting overheated. In any event, I didn't think much of it.
Since the beginning of this year, I saw that it started doing it more frequently. Within the last month, it has been happening more and more frequently, to the point that it is disrupting my use of the laptop.
I have not yet tried connecting the laptop to an external monitor to see if the issue is with my video drive or screen. It's just difficult to attach it to an external monitor in time when the problem starts, because the scrambling goes away within 20-30 seconds.
It flickers when i click something or open a folder. It also goes crazy when i put on a video.
Things i've done:
Updated drivers.
''Hold power button'' method.
Clues i have:
1. I remember back when i just got the laptop, it would always flicker in the exact same way when a charger was plugged in that was too weak (power out let too low message) and changing the charger always fixed it.
Now i still have the same charger (i have 3 hp and 1 dell chargers at home that fit my laptop) and none of them seems to be ''enough'' (60w x2 65w x1 and 120w x1).
2. Another funny thing is that when i uninstalled my Ati Radeon HD5850 drivers completely, there was no flickering, but obviously, i need to have that as i use this laptop strictly for games)
3. The screen refresh rate is 60hz and not possible to change,.
4. There is NO flickering on an external screen (tried two tvs, both didn't clicker a bit)
5. You might say it's a hardware problem, but i actually somehow got it to work without the flickering earlier tonight and stayed up all night playing and it didn't cause me any issues. It was working great.
6. Occasionally the PC will freeze (could that be a battery problem? since i currently am not using one as both mine are broken and i'm waiting for a new one to ship)
7. I have had 2 blue screens of death recently. One while installing ATI drivers and other i don't remember.
I have a HP notebook DV7-3165dx and my screen flickers. I have connected it to an external monitor and the graphics are just fine.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWe have two HP Pavilion dv6t-3100 CTO Select Edition Entertainment notebooks purchased at the same time. The screen on one of them has been flickering, has had to do a few recoveries, and has generated at least one BSOD.
Oddly, the problem child's Intel driver is 8.17.0010.0029, and the AMD driver is 8.741.1.1000, dated 6/22/2010.
But the problem-free laptop has Intel driver 8.17.0010.1043, and AMD driver 8.771.1.0, dated 9/8/2010.
Huh? The only difference between the two is the "bad" laptop has a i7-720QM ICU whereas the "good" laptop has the slightly more powerful i7-740QM. So why the different drivers?
I have a hp 2000 and use internet explorer, google and bing. I have windows 8. I have been getting a green screen on all videos. My audio is there. Started a 2 days ago.

Windows has generic VGA driver that's OK, but it can't run any copmplex videos that it used to be able to run. It starts after I open the display, or sometimes after the laptop has been in use for a long time. It happened before, and the hp service replaced the lcd, saying that was a faulty one, but now, with the new one, is starting again. Is a bad replacement? I have to worry for the videocard? or motherboard? I spent 350uss on the new lcd, and I really hope is the replacement.

So maybe after a day or two there has been a green screen appearing instead of video. I used to be able to restart the computer and it'd be fine for a while, then it became more freqent. Now no matter whether I restart my computer or I'm just starting it up the screen will be green whether it be youtube or skype. This is also happening with my sister's computer and it is the same type. My roomate, who does not have the touch version does not have any problems with her laptop.

View 1 Replies View Related2 weeks ago I began having video issues on my system. At that time, I was able to get to the login screen and right after I logged in, the screen started blinking at a constant rate (about evey second). To fix this, I booted to the Startup Menu (hit ESC after power on) and got the text based menu. From there I could get to the nice little graphical Windows Startup Options Menus. I used that to do system restore back to July and this seemed to work for a couple weeks.Now when I start the laptop, it quickly goes to a screen full of little dots all over and I can't see anything. I was able to get the text based statup menu that listed (system info, sys diags, ..., Starup menu). But when I tried to get the graphics based menus, it immediately when to the screen with dots so I could not do any of the recovery or start up options (like safe mode).

Went to Futureshop today and tested their 15" mbp display model. Changed to 9600gt and put a load on the CPU (started a bunch of apps, screensaver etc). Walked around 5-10 minutes then came back to the mbp, put brightness level to 1ow and it 'wavered, pulsed, strobed'. It was subtle but was there. It looks like most if not all the new macs have this issue.

I made a short video which shows the problem - basically it's a persistent blue colored lines flickering everywhere where the background is supposed to be white and stable. Needles to say it renders my laptop almost unusable.

It even mentions the SONY-TV in the output settings (audio and video) but there is nothing on my tv, just a blank screen ....
I have tried re-installing drivers, getting frustrated ....
For the past several days a narrow horizontal line appears in the lower part of the screen on my Envy dv7 laptop - Windows 8, Intel i5 processor - that I purchased in Janurary 2013.The line flickers in various colors and is very annoying. I pulled up the BIOS screen and the line does not appear. I don't have another monitor to plug into, so I can't run that test. Everything else is functioning normally.
