I have a problem with the video being all messed up in my Acer laptop. I made a short video which shows the problem - basically it's a persistent blue colored lines flickering everywhere where the background is supposed to be white and stable. Needles to say it renders my laptop almost unusable.Â

I just purchased my first laptop, I wanted a cheap, but functional laptop, so I choose the Acer Aspire 5532. I've been building and repairing PCs for years, but I have never messed with Laptop repair other then software issues and replacing RAM. I decided to upgrade the CPU to a AMD Turion 64 X2 Dual Core TL60. I started to try and disassemble the laptop, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to do so. I've looked for tutorials for the 5532 with no luck, and I've looked at video tutorials on youtube, but they don't have any for the 5532. Can someone please give me some insight, or point me in the right direction?

When I try and boot to the System Disk 1 I get a no bootable media on disk message. I installed Windows 7 from a DVD I have for another computer and it works fine, but I can not validate Windows. How can I make the laptop run System Disk 1?

It starts after I open the display, or sometimes after the laptop has been in use for a long time. It happened before, and the hp service replaced the lcd, saying that was a faulty one, but now, with the new one, is starting again. Is a bad replacement? I have to worry for the videocard? or motherboard? I spent 350uss on the new lcd, and I really hope is the replacement.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an Acer Aspire 5634WLMi with 2 years. Got a problem on the monitor (15.4-inch LCD CrystalBite).
It slowly started a year ago (at that time still had warranty but underestimated the problem and now it expired). In all the black images(movies, photos) began to appear some green fluorescent dots that looks like they are living (in English I think is called flickering spots, jaggies?!) which then disappear and come back. I did not care at first because both appeared to disappear. Over time there have appeared more, followed by purple dots now. These purple dots are never in black image but sometimes they are the shadow of the black image. But in videos with very dark black only come green dots (always flickering). In all the other colors there is no problem, for example I am writing this in Word and the blue and white of this image is not green. It is however in my opinion a little blurry, I do not know. The letters are black (with a slight green Halo) but it seems that they aren’t standing still and shake a little. The most strange is that on the desktop there is a pattern of green dots on the bottom left and a purple on the upper corner that are often there but sometimes also move around. In fact there was not so long ago a time when I got a perfect image. I began to think that the laptop went to very warm, open a part, cleaned the fan and reduce the processor speed by changing the temperature of the device. After a while it disappeared. But this improvement lasted only 1 day. Then it began all over again. I have also tried to connect the computer to another monitor and had a perfect image, so it seems that it is not the graphics. On the Internet I found many of these reports that the cable that goes from the graphicscard to the monitor is damaged and that a simple substitution leads to full restoration of the notebook. Anyway before attempting to open the laptop (I've been watching some videos of how to do) like to have another opinion from someone who realizes this. I already took him ah repair but wanted 250 euro to replace the monitor with dead pixels (which I think is wrong they are not all dead, and until very squiggly and alternate location). For 250euros rather buy a new though economically not good for me. When the computer has a completely black image is all green. For example when the screensaver comes with the ball moving from one place to another.
This afternoon I decided to do a clean install of windows 8.1 on my Acer Aspire v5-431P. Everything went well and it booted up as it should do. After completing the windows setup procedure, I went on to reinstall all the drivers. Everything was still fine. When I was downloading them from the Acer website I heard the sound a windows computer makes when a device is plugged in or out. The screen went off and on and the image was blurry and flickering. Like it's covered in water. I also see everything double. But very vague.Â

I tried to reboot the laptop, took out the battery, plugged it in and out of the power source etc. The problem occurs after the windows login screen. The acer bios logo and the windows startup logo are perfectly fine but after that it's cr*p. At this point I was certain the screen itself was perfectly fine so I tried testing is on my tv using and HDMI cable. Worked perfectly.Â

The last thing I tried was reinstalling windows but the same happened. After 5 minutes of usage the screen goes ham again.Â
I have a hp dv 3 z 1000 cto entertainment pc and the screen is always flickering. I called microsoft but they told me that it is a hardware problem.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWent to Futureshop today and tested their 15" mbp display model. Changed to 9600gt and put a load on the CPU (started a bunch of apps, screensaver etc). Walked around 5-10 minutes then came back to the mbp, put brightness level to 1ow and it 'wavered, pulsed, strobed'. It was subtle but was there. It looks like most if not all the new macs have this issue.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI bought my Dell XPS 13 laptop (L321X) in December of 2012.  Beginning in the middle of 2013, I began experiencing my display screen suddenly become scrambled. I am attaching a photo of what happens.  I did not think anything of it at first, and honestly it would happen maybe once a month.  I figured it was maybe that I had the laptop on my lap and it was getting overheated.  In any event, I didn't think much of it.Â
Since the beginning of this year, I saw that it started doing it more frequently. Â Within the last month, it has been happening more and more frequently, to the point that it is disrupting my use of the laptop.
I have not yet tried connecting the laptop to an external monitor to see if the issue is with my video drive or screen. Â It's just difficult to attach it to an external monitor in time when the problem starts, because the scrambling goes away within 20-30 seconds. Â
For the past several days a narrow horizontal line appears in the lower part of the screen on my Envy dv7 laptop - Windows 8, Intel i5 processor - that I purchased in Janurary 2013.The line flickers in various colors and is very annoying. I pulled up the BIOS screen and the line does not appear. I don't have another monitor to plug into, so I can't run that test. Everything else is functioning normally.

1. I remember back when i just got the laptop, it would always flicker in the exact same way when a charger was plugged in that was too weak (power out let too low message) and changing the charger always fixed it.

Now i still have the same charger (i have 3 hp and 1 dell chargers at home that fit my laptop) and none of them seems to be ''enough'' (60w x2 65w x1 and 120w x1).

View 2 Replies View RelatedI left my 15" (late 2008) MacBook Pro in sleep for a few days, and when I opened it again today there are red dots flickering across shades of black on my external monitor, with both the 9600M and the 9400M. Since so many people leave their MacBook Pro on all of the time (I don't usually), I'm assuming that I haven't damaged anything. My MacBook Pro didn't seem hot, either. After restarting my MBP (and installing the new updates), the flickering red dots are still there.
Do you think that this will go away if I leave the system off for a day or that the logic board/video card is permanently damaged? I really, really don't trust that the Genius Bar could do a repair without damaging my MBP, and I really never take it anywhere so I wouldn't have a way to bring my MBP in that I would be happy with without spending money on a case. What are the chances that I could get a replacement MacBook Pro or a $2500 credit? I figure that a Mac Pro or an iMac would suit me better, anyway, since I don't travel with my MacBook Pro. My MBP is in pristine condition (you literally wouldn't be able to tell between mine and a brand new MBP) partly because I always have it hooked up to an external keyboard, mouse, and monitor, and because I prefer it that way, it helps resale as well. I wouldn't want to be dissatisfied with a repair for a $2500 system, which I could already see happening, so I'd really just like a replacement system if this problem doesn't go away...
We have two HP Pavilion dv6t-3100 CTO Select Edition Entertainment notebooks purchased at the same time. The screen on one of them has been flickering, has had to do a few recoveries, and has generated at least one BSOD.

Oddly, the problem child's Intel driver is 8.17.0010.0029, and the AMD driver is 8.741.1.1000, dated 6/22/2010.

But the problem-free laptop has Intel driver 8.17.0010.1043, and AMD driver 8.771.1.0, dated 9/8/2010.

Huh? The only difference between the two is the "bad" laptop has a i7-720QM ICU whereas the "good" laptop has the slightly more powerful i7-740QM. So why the different drivers?
i have a acer aspire 8920g that i got 3 months ago and i have vista 64bit installed in it.i want to change it to xp or even vista 32 because i do not like vista 64 but i think drivers will be an issue since this thing has a driver installed for everything.is there going to be a problem with the drivers?and if so can i find all the main drivers somewhere for it?

View 1 Replies View Relatediv had this problem for a few weeks now and nothing seems to be working. Everytime I play a game I get a bluescreen about display drivers and windows Problem Reports and Solutions says its a problem with ATI Graphics Drivers aswell.
I have tried various different ATI drivers and the driverhearn mod application but all them having failed I even run Acer eReovery and restored back to factory setting and STILL have the same problem but with a new error message, popping up occasionally while just genrally using the laptop, saying that the drivers stopped responding but managed to recover... something along those lines.

I just got an Aspire 5536 and I'm running some diagnostics on it. While running SpinRite to test the drive I'm seeing HDD temps as high as 58°C!
This is a WDC 320 GB Scorpio Blue drive rated with a maximum operating temperature of 60°C and it's in a brand new machine sitting on the desk (so the vents are clear).
Isn't this ridiculously warm for this laptop? Does anyone else have the laptop (or the WDC 320 HDD) that can give me some comparison numbers?
i have a brand new aspire 5920 notebook. The round power button LED always used to glow Blue. A week back, the power button started glowing Amber. It stays amber irrespective of whether it's running on AC or battery power. The power indicator at the bottom right stays on even after i shutdown the notebook thus draining out the battery.

This thread is specifically designed to put an end to the multitude of threads about people asking why their Aspire 6920G, 6930G, 6935G, 8920G, or 8930G is experiencing lackluster performance in gaming.
What Causes It
We’re not 100% certain, but through a process of elimination, we believe there are two possible causes:
•That a sensor on the motherboard is going haywire, reading internal temperatures entirely wrong. As a result, the system’s BIOS believes the CPU’s temperature is reaching dangerous levels when it’s really well within operating limits, and causes a thermal throttle to be activated. This halves the CPU’s performance until the temperatures are returned to what the system perceives as safe levels.
•It could also be potentially linked to a ridiculously low setting in the BIOS and not the fault of a motherboard sensor – this was refuted by my travel to Acer’s Canadian headquarters, where a stock 6920G was shown to operate just fine, with no throttling whatsoever. That being said, given the large number of users affected, it's still a possibility.....................
I was playing a game and alt tabbed then i got a blue screen and my computer restarted. After it restarted a  blue screen popped up saying activate windows now. What should i do and how do i fix this , because of this my office stopped working as well.
