Acer Aspire V5-431P :: After Clean Install Laptop Screen Is Buzzy And Flickering
Feb 11, 2015
This afternoon I decided to do a clean install of windows 8.1 on my Acer Aspire v5-431P. Everything went well and it booted up as it should do. After completing the windows setup procedure, I went on to reinstall all the drivers. Everything was still fine. When I was downloading them from the Acer website I heard the sound a windows computer makes when a device is plugged in or out. The screen went off and on and the image was blurry and flickering. Like it's covered in water. I also see everything double. But very vague.
I tried to reboot the laptop, took out the battery, plugged it in and out of the power source etc. The problem occurs after the windows login screen. The acer bios logo and the windows startup logo are perfectly fine but after that it's cr*p. At this point I was certain the screen itself was perfectly fine so I tried testing is on my tv using and HDMI cable. Worked perfectly.
The last thing I tried was reinstalling windows but the same happened. After 5 minutes of usage the screen goes ham again.
I am having an issue with my Acer Aspire V5-431P-4653 running Windows 8.1, namely, I cannot adjust the screen brightness at all. It seems to arbitrarily select a brightness level upon start up and from that point I cannot change it via the Fn and directional keys or through the control panel power settings. I have owned the laptop for a year and a half and this problem began roughly a week ago.
Of note, when I attempt to use the Fn and directional keys the brightness icon that pops up stays at the frozen brightness level - it does not move at all. In contrast, when I open the power settings and attempte to change the brightness from there, the brightness slider will move wherever I drag it, but the screen's brightness itself does not change. At startup the screen's brightness may be at full, minimum or somewhere in between - but regardless it will not adjust.
I have an ACER Aspire 5920Z laptop and the screen just starts Flickering in between .......Can something be done about it? well just gathered out a couple of info ..is it related to the 8ms response time the laptop has..?The refresh rate doesnt change on LCD screens so that option doesnt work either (fixed at 60)
This is a brand new, just out of the box, laptop. Is it possible to do a clean install from the hidden partition?
But most important. I want to make a backup of the Out-of-the box state. Then I want to make another type of backup so that I can selectively uninstall items and selectively bring them back from the backup if I need them. How would I do that?
I want to get rid of: 1) All games 2) McAfee 3) MS Office Trial 4) MS Works 5) Welcome center - unless this si somehow needed. 6) Movie Maker 7) Windows Photo Gallery 8) Extras and Upgrades 9) Windows DVD maker 10) Windows Movie Maker 11) Live Messenger Download. 12) Windows Meeting Space 13) Windows Sidebar 14) Table PC
Im running windows 8.1 64 bit Acer Aspire E1-470, I notice my screen keeps on flickering, its like a heartbeat impulse, it dims and gets back light again its not severe but it annoys me alot!
The problem is, that my Aspire's screen keeps flickering and making weird waves and stuff. It basically makes text unreadable, and I almost can't see anything. To turn it somewhat normal, I turn down the light, but it's not working much. The text sometimes turns into different colors, Blue, green and red.
I just reinstalled my Acer Aspire 5930G (844G32BN) with Vista Home Premium. Everything looks fine except the wireless connection. My computer cannot find any wireless networks (although my other notebook finds all 3 around me). It looks like as if the notebooks WiFi signal would not work.
Could anyone tell me what exact drivers the original installation have? I tried the Intel ProSet/Wireless drivers now. The WiFi led flashes, but cannot find any networks. With the original installation I had no problem regarding the WiFi.
I have screen flickering problem with my Acer Aspire 725 with windows 8 OS. Flickering stops when i remove the power supply. I could see the battery plugged and unplugged symbol in Windows 8 continuously. Whether i should replace my battery or power supply adaptor?
I have a 4 year old Dell Inspiron 6000 that has recently been giving me a number of problems. For the past two days the laptop has been flickering between the display and a black screen, with it becoming somewhat more frequent as time went on.
I had read that it may be a loose wire and I had planned on opening it up and attempting to fix it myself (the warranty is over and I'd rather attempt to fix it myself first before paying to have it fixed at extremely high prices).
However, the lower right corner of the screen has recently started to become incredibly hot and noticeable smoke and burning has begun to occur. I immediately shut off and unplugged the computer and have not used it since .....
my sytem setup after a clean install of vista home premium.
I think I loaded all the driver ect after the clean install as per the instruction in a post on this site, I then istalled SP1 on.
My first question is that when I boot up the system it boots fine to the desktop but then the HD disk light stays on for a good few minuets with CPU usaged in the 3%-10% ranged will this is going on, after that the HD light just flikers constantly......is this right?
2 Should I load Sony update prgram and run it and Windows update?
3 I have not loaded any Sony stuff so no keys like eject or BluRay etc work I cant seem to find what drivers are need and I dont wont to load all sorts of stuff on as that would defeat the perpuse of a clean install. I have only 50 processor runing after booting up
I ahve a few other thing i like to ask but I will leave that for another post as I think thats enough question for now!
We have two HP Pavilion dv6t-3100 CTO Select Edition Entertainment notebooks purchased at the same time. The screen on one of them has been flickering, has had to do a few recoveries, and has generated at least one BSOD.
Oddly, the problem child's Intel driver is 8.17.0010.0029, and the AMD driver is 8.741.1.1000, dated 6/22/2010.
But the problem-free laptop has Intel driver 8.17.0010.1043, and AMD driver 8.771.1.0, dated 9/8/2010.
Huh? The only difference between the two is the "bad" laptop has a i7-720QM ICU whereas the "good" laptop has the slightly more powerful i7-740QM. So why the different drivers?
I have a M17x R3 laptop since a few years. A few weeks ago I sent it to the shop to have a SSD installed and have Win7 reinstalled (Windows Explorer kept crashing all the time and I wasnt able to format for some reason). When it got back from the shop, I realized a problem that was not there before.
There are 2 horizontal lines, one at the top and one at the bottom of my screen that keep flickering. They dont appear when I'm on the desktop or playing games, only when I have a program running (iTunes, Steam, DivX, etc) in fullscreen.
Here are my specs
Alienware M17X R3 Windows 7 64 bit AMD Radeon HD 6870M (I also have Intel(R) HD Graphics 3000 in my display drivers. Just noticed that the version for both is 9.3.0) 6GB RAM
Dont know if it has anything to do with this, but when I got my laptop back I tried to install Cataclyst Control Center and it messed up my graphics bad, I could only run 640x480 and the only way to fix this was to uninstall CCC.
I am about to re-install Windows on my friend's laptop, an Aspire 4520.
I am not super familiar with laptops, however I have noted that at the top of his desktop, there is an utility program, a toolbar that I think is called Empowering Technology. My friend uses it mainly to check his battery charge level, although there are a few other tools in this bar, like "acer eData Security Management".
The problem is, if I reinstall Windows, all programs on the Windows partition will be erased. That included this program/toolbar. And I don't know where to get back it back...like where to download a new one for installation.
I encountered a black screen while installing Windows 8.1 from a USB after the logo in the beginning.
I format my hard-drive (SSD), I had Windows 7 installed on it.
I removed the harddrive from my laptop.I attached my drive to an USB adapter and removed the partitions on the drive with "Create and format hard disk partitions" on another PC.Put the hard-drive back in the laptop.Tried again and the installation works smoothly!
i cant Able to install wireless network adapter in my laptop..I downloaded all updated drivers from Acer website but still its missing and not able to connect WIFI.
Doing a clean install of Vista and keep getting prompted to locate and install driver for "Coprocessor". Have looked in device manager (yellow mark) but I just don't know what it is. Windows says it can't locate software for it.
Don't know what I am looking for on Acers site under drivers, installed all other stuff OK, Realtek, NVidia etc. Could it be a modem driver. Properties in device manager give no clues, it's listed as "other devices" along with the webcam which I have to sort drivers out for too.
I've already posted another thread about the issues I'm having with my Acer 5535 however I have a another question that I was meaning to ask about it. If I wanted to restore the laptop to it's factory settings, the laptop I had previously came with a Recovery DVD, this one did not.
How do I perform a clean install? I know there is some sort for recovery partition on the HD, but how do I start the process?
I am thinking about restoring our 6920G. We have been having some issues with it. I would reinstall Vista Home Premiue x64. What drivers would I need and what apps should I install?
I have bought today an Acer 1810TZ. I dont like the bloated Windows and would like to do a reinstall.
1) I am not sure what to do with the 12 GB Recovery Partition (Shall I save it on a 4 GB USB Stick and store it on DVD and then kill the partition?)
2) What shall I do with the other hidden Reserved Partition, that contains a Boot manager in many different languages. Do I really need that?
What happens if everything is deleted and i press ALT + F10 for the recovery option? Would it then crash not being able to find those partitions?
3) What happens if I wanted to make this like the factory settings? Would I be able to recreate these partitions and copy the software back? Would it work like this?
I have bought acer laptop. 1. This is Extensa 6702ZNWLMi 2. Intel Pentium M processor 735A 3. DVD-Dual double layer
Now when i press the power button it start and after some processing shows the following: Linpus Linux Basic Edition v9.2 b060419c [root@ localhost /]#
Now i dont understand this command [root@ localhost /]# and after this command cursor is blinking to write some thing.
I also dont know that how to launch that window in which i can change the boot priority. In my pc that i use in home i press del after starting my computer and a window comes where i change my boot priority and then boot from cd windows xp and install it. But in this case i dont know how to install xp. and my next question is that can i play cd in DVD-Dual double layer.
I've Acer Aspire V5-431 with Intel Celeron 1007U @1.5Ghz with 4GB of RAM, but whenever I tried to install Windows 8, it's always came with Blue Screen of Dead and it's shows this error IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL.
I have a problem with the video being all messed up in my Acer laptop. I made a short video which shows the problem - basically it's a persistent blue colored lines flickering everywhere where the background is supposed to be white and stable. Needles to say it renders my laptop almost unusable.
Guide: Clean installation of Windows 7 on Acer, heavily edited by moderators
This guide explains how to do a clean installation of Windows 7 on an Acer computer that's been licensed to used it. If your system originally came with Windows Vista, you need an Acer Upgrade Kit. If your system originally came with Windows 7, use the key on the bottom of your machine.
The described method will work for ANY edition (Starter/Home/Pro/Ultimate) and for ANY architecture (32/64-bit) and ANY language, but only the version you are licensed for; no free upgrades here.
Step 1: Verify eligibility for Windows 7. CONTENT REMOVED DUE TO PIRACY CONCERNS Either you are licensed for Windows 7 by having a key on the bottom of your machine, or you have an Acer Upgrade kit. If you have neither, then you are not licensed for it, regardless of what's in your BIOS.
Step 2: Back-up factory images and personal files. Since we will be reinstalling Windows you will lose all your files and ability to restore to factory condition, so it would be a wise thing to make back-ups. A. Back-up factory images. If you want to have restore DVDs then it should be a good time to create them now. You can do it via Acer eRecovery program. If you have a built-in or external DVD drive then simply burn them and if you do not then you can save DVD image to your hard drive. Follow these instructions. B. Back-up personal files. If you have files you would like to keep now it is time to save them to either a flash drive or an external hard drive.
Step 3: Preparing Windows 7 installation image. Simply use the content in this topic to download and prepare your Windows 7 DVD or USB key. This will also remove the version restriction so the burned DVD or prepped USB key can be used to install any version of Windows 7 - you'll still need the right license key, of course.
Step 4: Setting up Windows 7 installation media. See above..................................................
I just did a clean install of my Acer 5101AWLMI with TinyXp removing all partitions, now this has worked fine on all other computers I used it on. But the Acer Laptop comes up with the error message STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF78a6528, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000), after Windows XP loading screen. I never get to the login or desktop. I have read the [url], but it doesn't help, how am i supposed to get drivers from the manufacturer installed on the laptop when I can't get to the desktop? I have reinstalled and formated several times and even run Spinrite 6.5 to check for harddisk failes, but to no avail!
Is there any possibility to interact with ePower in Windows 7 clean installation? In original Vista that came wit notebook it had tray icon, but when I install this app in Win7 from provided archive (ePower_Acer_4.07.3008_Win7x86x64), there is no tray nor any launcheable app, even through there is epowertray.exe running in memory. An when I press ePower button (green battery with leaf), nothing actually happens, only indication is that icon is green lit and if I install launchmanager, there is visual indication on display too...
I have an Acer Travelmate 6460 with Windows XP on it. I want to format my harddisk and put a Vista Business on it (no OEM). With that format I mean complete one, including the PQService partition from Acer.
Basically I want to have an 'Acer clean' laptop in the end (I only want the drivers for the hardware, and the downloads to make the soft keys working).
Now first of all i can not delete the PQService partition (not in Windows, not in the Vista installation program after booting from dvd). That made me curious and searched the internet.
Now I've read that it is possible that after deleting the PQservice partition, you loose the MBR and can not boot anymore. I don't want to take that risk because I do not want to loose many time during working hours.
I'm a software developer, knows a fair bit of hardware but I really like some advice of some 'manual' of what to do to accomplish what I want. (If that is possible).
